First make sure your iPod is set to manually manage by enabling the Manually manage music and videos option from under the iPod's Summary tab. Once you have done this, you can manually click and drag the audiobook and its tracks over to your iPod from under the Devices section in the lefthand pane of iTunes.

I am having trouble putting my audio book under the audio book folder in the ipod nano.
Every time i ask the ipod to play all musics, its plays all including all audio book. I ' d like to have it play book only when i ask for it.

There are two things you could do here. First, change the *Media Type* of the audiobook tracks in iTunes to "Audiobook" via the "Get Info" screen under the Options tab.
Under this same tab, you could also tick the "Skip when Shuffling" option for these tracks. When you have finished, sync the updated changes to your iPod.

If this is a 4th (or 3rd) gen shuffle, and you use automatic syncing for loading songs... Select the shuffle in iTunes. There is a row of "tabs" (buttons) starting with Summary. Click on Books there. This is the Books tab, where you tell iTunes how to sync audiobooks to the shuffle. Set it up as desired, and click Apply.
NOTE: If your shuffle is currently NOT set up for automatic syncing, its content will be replaced by content selected in the sync settings.
If you are NOT using automatic syncing for songs, so you have been loading songs manually by dragging them to the shuffle in iTunes, then you should NOT do the above. Instead, you can load audiobooks the same way. Drag the books you want to the shuffle from your Books library in iTunes.
If this is a 1st or 2nd gen shuffle, it is different. Please post back.

I purchased two audio books from the iTunes music store. I have no intention of sitting at my computer for twelve hours listening to the books. I intend to listen to the books on my car CD player during long road trips. When I try to convert the files I get a message that says that they can't be converted because they are protected files. How can I play them on a CD in my car?

I THINK my iTunes preferences were already set to "Audio CD" on my first, failed attempt. For this failed attempt I simply hit the burn icon in the upper right of iTunes. When I followed your advise my preferences were already set as you suggested but this time I used one of the pull-down menus along the top to select "burn playlist to ....". This worked perfectly. What you do is this; the next time your ipod is jacked to the USB port on you computer and it shows under "Devices" in your Itunes library. click on that folder (your ipod) and it will have eight folders above the Ipod's state.
That was step one; step two is once you see this bar above the ipod's state in the Ipod's folder under "devices" scroll down the horizontal bar until you see audiobooks
Itune's is very user friendly and will give you the option to pick and choose or pick all. to get the audio books off your ipod pick and choose the audio books you want on you're ipod

When I download audio books from the library I can't find them in my itunes files. All of the chapters do not transfer to my itouch even though they all were downloaded.

I finally figured it out! On the book page of itunes I went to preferences and then import settings and changed the settings from aac to mp3 and when I went back to the page there was my itouch and clicked on it and then books and there were all my books and files! deleted 3 chapters that were greyed out and transfered them again and it worked.
