How to Save Camera Calibration and Lens Correction in Camera raw 6.1

I downloaded and installed the Camera Raw 6.1 release candidate.  I open an image and set the camera calibration and the lens correction to auto for Nikon.  I save these settings as new Camera raw defaults, but when I open other images, the changes were not made.  How can I save these items as defaults?
Swila

Swila, were your "other images" previously edited in Camera Raw? I.e., do they already have saved image settings? The defaults that you save via the flyout menu will only apply to new images, or if you reset an existing image to the defaults. (e.g., choose "Camera Raw Defaults" from the flyout menu).

  • Odd Issue Editing in Photoshop with color and lens corrections

First off, I'm on LR 4.4 and PS CS6 (Camera Raw 7.4.0.137) using ProPhoto RGB as my LR colorspace and have my PS color settings as Working Space: ProPhoto RGB and my color management policies to preserve embedded profiles.
When I right click on a DNG in LR and choose "Edit in Photoshop", LR sends it to PS and PS does its "Reading in Camera Raw Format" and opens the image.  However, the colors are off (very muted) and any lens corrections I've applied in LR are missing.  My monitor (iMac on OSX 10.8) is calibrated with a Spyder.  I've also noticed that if I choose to edit in another application, it renders the tiff fine and the color and lens corrections are correct in the tiff.
Anyone have any ideas what my issue is?
    Thanks,
    Matt
ETA: After some experimenting, it seems that the "Adobe Standard" profile is what gets sent to Photoshop.  The rest (Camera Landscape, Portrait, etc.) are ignored. What's going on here?

Sounds like you need to reset your warning dialog. Preferences>General>Prompts [Reset all warning dialogs]
Then try it again and make certain of the three choices you are Editing a Copy with Lightroom Adjustments.

  • 2 question about GPU and Lens correction ,cs5

    Hi
i have 2 questions about Gpu and lens correction in Cs5
    1)Filter->lens correction->search online
i get often and almost every connection time out at the first click on search online , at the second click i get no online profile
    is it normal?
    2) question is about Gpu
it run faster , but talking about ajustament layer
like saturation or vibrance for example
i found with the gpu on , a light slow refresh compared with gpu off
i have set cache  levels 6 ,history 20
    i guess are the defaul
well i add a saturation layer and move the saturation slide ,increase o decrease saturation
with Gpu Off , the changes are immedially , i mean i can see in real time the increase o decrease of saturation
with Gpu On it takes a few(very few) time more
    again is normal ?
don't be angry , i'm going to buy cs5 and i'm unsecure ... the price make a big role
    thanks

For what it's worth, I also see a timeout on the first [ Search Online ] click, after about half a minute delay.  Second click turns up results immediately.  This happens each time Lens Correction is started, even without restarting Photoshop, and in both 32 and 64 bit versions.  Also note that I started with one profile listed by default (though from the wrong camera) for my 40D with 28-135 zoom.
I alsow noticed that I was seeing progress bar activity in the Lens Correction dialog while I was typing this (even though Lens Correction was NOT the active window) every time I hit the 'L' key.  Strange.

  • How to save my emails and adressbook files from an old ibook?

How to save my emails and adressbook files from an old ibook (bought around 2002) ?
The screen from the old ibook doesn´t work anymore (logicboard problem I guess).
I saved everything else with starting it in target modus. That worked fine.
I want to delete the files after that as well, because I wanna give away the old ibook and don´t want anyone to read my emails!
    Little helpers I have:
    A running MacBook
External Screen (and cables to connect)
    Fire Wire Cable

Don't know how helpful this will be but I often copy mail from one computer to another, I drag the mail from the mail window to the other computers drop box, then from the other computer double click it and mail asks me what I want to do with it, of course without a screen you'd need to use back to my mac.
If you don't have back to my mac running, you could set up a second user account on the newer mac, import everything via target mode as suggested by c above, and then drag the mail to the first user account drop box.

  • How to save a game  and then load

My final project of BSCS (Bachelor of Science in Computer Science) is a Multiplayer online Board game...Distributed Ludo...
This project is in its final steps and Im facing some difficulties.
I do not know how to save the game and load it again. Can anybody guide me to the process?

Saving a game is just persisting the data required for the game.
Loading a game means reading the saved data and setting the attributes of the game (and player and ...) to start exactly the point where it was saved.
So the steps to save are
    1. Identify the data necessary for retaining the same state when needed.
    2. Decide the data file format and structure.
    3. Get the snapshot of necessary attributes
    4. Save the data using APIs
    Steps to load are
    1. Read the data using APIs.
    2. Set the game attributes.
    3. Update the model and view accordingly.
    Hope this helps.

  • LR 3, Pshop CS3 and lens corrections: wha'?

Perform lens corrections in LR3. Open in Photoshop CS3.
And the lens corrections are not applied. Repeatable.
Right now I'm having to finish the PSD, the syncing the (ignored) lens corrections from the raw file to the PSD.
Where's the hidden Do What I Asked command for lens corrections?

Hm. I would assume that LR3's engine would render the PSD, then open it in Pshop.
Because (thanks to your note) I see that I can export a righteously-rendered PSD and, as a post-process, have it open in Pshop immediately.
    Thanks, Lee Jay.

  • Lr, Photomerge and Lens Corrections

I use to apply an import preset to all my photos that just enables the lens corrections. That's my doubt: when I make a pano with Photomerge in CS5 (so I select photos, right click, Edit In, Merge to Panorama in Photoshop..) I have to select or not the "Vignette removal" and "Geometric Distortion Correction" features? Photomerge takes count on the adjustments made in Lr? I've the doubt because in the source files list are elencated .CR2 files, not TIFF/PSD..
    I made some tries:
    1. Lens corrections in Lr/Lens corrections in Photomerge
    2. Lens corrections in Lr
    3. Lens corrections in Photomerge
Try 1 is a little bit stretched compared to tries 2 and 3.
Tries 2 and 3 aren't totally identical. They not match 100% even if are almost equivalent.
What do you do guys when it comes to panos and lens corrections? Thanks

I think I'll make all the adjustments in Lightroom, lens correction too and leave the two options in Photomerge blank. I don't know why there are little differences between the lens corrections in Photomerge and Lightroom, I thought it's the same module, but that's it..

  • Lens corrections in PSE raw

I cannot determine whether lens corrections work in ACR 6.4 using Elements 9. I know the lens correction tab is not available - but does that mean no lens corrections are applied at all - or does it simply mean I cannot manipulate the correction beyond the default provided in ACR?

ACR will use whatever the ACR default is for the specific camera the raw file is from.  I say this because with ACR 7, at least, you can enable Auto-CA (a manual lens correction) as the default for a particular camera when using ACR with PSE10, by editing the ACR camera-defaults file with a text editor.
Here is what I did on Windows 7 to enable Auto-CA for my brother who does not use LR nor PS, only PSE:
    1) Open a new RAW image for the camera you are wanting to affect the settings of in PSE/ACR that has never had any edits done.
    2) Go to the Camera Calibration tab in ACR (a black camera icon) and change the Process Version to 2012—this will update the camera-defaults file to have PV2012 values which include the Auto-CA.  You can skip this step if you are using an older version of PSE.
    3) Click the 3-dots-three-lines icon at the right of where it says Camera Calibration, and choose Save New Camera Raw Defaults from the bottom of the menu that pops up.  This step will create a or update the camera-specific ACR-defaults file for your computer user.
    4) Exit ACR with Cancel, and Exit PSE.
    5) Using Windows Explorer, browse to the following folder under your user folder:  c:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\Defaults\
The AppData folder is hidden so you may need to type this part into Explorer’s address bar.
    6) In the Defaults sub-folder there should be one or more files named:  Default_somehexdigits.XMP.
    7) Open each of these XMP files and find the one that matches the camera the raw file was from.  The value of the crs:KeyString attribute is the camera name.
    8) Further down in this XMP file, look for several lens-correction-specific attributes and change them to be the following:
           crs:LensProfileEnable=”1”
           crs:AutoLateralCA=”1”
           crs:LensProfileSetup=”LensDefaults”
The other parameters for Vignetting and Perspective are for manual adjustments and you don’t want to set these other than “0” for your defaults although you can set them for an individual image by editing its XMP file.
    9) Save the XMP file.
    10) Start up PSE and open a new RAW file and see that the lens-distortion and Lateral-CA has been corrected as much as the auto-correction can do.

  • How do I save a profile in Lens Correction in Photoshop

I am using Photoshop CS6 on a PC running Win7.  In the previous version I was able to save a profile in the Lens Correction panel.  In this version I can find my camera and my lens but it won't let me save the profile.  I only real estate and straight verticals are very important.

If your not saving a profile you found online you can save a preset from the custom tab:
Are you not able to save a profile from online locally if that's what your asking?

  • Scale difference between Camera Raw and Lens Correction Filter in CS6

I have the latest Camera Raw plugin (8.6.0.254). When I open an NEF file from a D800, the resulting image is 4912x7360 pixels, whether I apply distortion correction or not.
If I load the NEF file, do not apply distortion correction in Camera Raw, but then apply it via the Lens Correction Filter, the image must be rescaled to approximately 4840x7252 (some 98.53%) so that it matches the results of the Camera Raw plugin (minus the missing pixels around all four sides, of course).
Anyone else notice this (particularly in newer versions of Photoshop)? Is there a way to prevent this cropping? The amount of distortion on the lens (35mm) is minimal and, regardless of that, I would have expected Camera Raw and the Lens Correction filter to output identical images after distortion correction, since the lens profile is the same.

To see if that can be replicated, we'd need to now the exact version of CS6 you're running (e.g. on Mac you should be on Photoshop CS6 13.0.6) and the exact version of your OS.

  • How do I find camera profiles and load them into Camera Raw?

I did a clean install of Windows 7 and reloaded all my apps. Photoshop CS5 and Camera Raw used to show my Canon 60D & its lens, but now has no camera profiles. I found a way to lookup the camera/lens profile in Photoshop (Filter - Lens Correction), but not how to save it, so I have to do it every time I load PS. I can't even figure out how to get one into Camera RAW. Doesn't seem like this should be so hard. I must have figured it out when I first loaded CS5, but now I can't seem to get there. I figured a quick trip to Google would solve the problem, but no soap so far. Lots of advice on how to use profiles, but nothing (except invalid pages) saying how to get the darn things in there to begin with. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you install the camera raw 6.7 update?
Adobe - Photoshop : For Windows : Camera Raw 6.7 Update
You probably need to search, download and install the other photoshop cs5 updates as well, if you've just installed photoshop cs5.

  • Camera Profiles and Lens Profiles are missing in ACR 8.2.

Yesterday I tried to install a new update for CS CC, but it failed. Then I uninstalled the app completely, and installed it again.
When I opened ACR 8.2 I found out that there were no Camera profiles and LensProfiles (as it used to be before). Instead of usual Camera Profile was Matrix. There were no Lens Profiles in Photoshop  Lens Corrections either.
The folder C/.../App Data/Roaming/Adobe/CameraRaw/LensProfilesDefault was also empty.
I reinstalled the application a couple times with the same result.
How can I fix the problem?
    Regards, Yulia

Well,  C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles\Adobe Standard is also completely empty.

  • Vignette Correction + Lens Correction in Camera Raw / Lightroom

Ok i merge 2 requests for both camera raw and lighroom...
-> Vignette Specific Correction: Using preset for Lenses like Canon DPP Does for Peripherical Illuminance Correction, the vignette tool in lighroom is good but can't adapt to a variable vignette profile of each lens...
+ Ability to user to add them using a png 24 bit or similiar for Lenses not present on the DB (think using old lens, with adaptors, old zeiss without automatic controls that obviously will be not profiled by Canon, Nikon, Sony.. for their bodies)
-> Lens Correction based on Preset... + exif reading like in photoshop cs5 + manual adjustments
    thank you

So you use Photomatix to create a 32-bit HDR file and then tone that 32-bit file in ACR?  Are the Photomatix 32-bit files that much different than the PS-CC 32-bit files?  The Photomatix 32-to-16-bit conversion is quite a bit different and perhaps preferable, but I didn’t realize the 32-bit result file is also that much different.  It’s been a while since I’ve tried 32-bit HDRs and even longer since I’ve tried them in Photomatix so things may have changed or I’ve forgotten.
If you are using Photomatix, then you are not using an Adobe raw conversion at all, so Adobe settings and raw lens profiles are not seen and used at the initial raw-conversion stage in Photomatix.
The choices would seem to be that you can use Adobe products to create 16-bit TIFs as an input to Photomatix, or hack an Adobe raw lens profile to be used with non-raw files in ACR, or do your lens profile corrections after you’ve saved your 32-bit HDR image back as a 16-bit one and use the lens corrections area in Photoshop if that is still possible, nowadays.

  • HELP! How do I un-install and then RE-install Camera Raw 5.7 on my Mac?

My CS4 would no longer open my RAW files (Canon 5D Mark II) and I was told (on this forum) that I needed to update my camera raw to 5.7. So I downloaded 5.7 but could not figure out HOW to get it installed in the proper place. After trying but not succeeding, my CS4 now tells me there is NO camera raw installed, not even the old one I was running! So I tried to RE-install 5.7 but I get the message that it's already installed. So it's SOMEWHERE on my computer, but I don't know where. It's not in photoshop or where is should be, but I can't try to install it again because my computer tells me it's already installed. How do I remove it from my computer so that I can try again? OR MAYBE BETTER YET, HOW DO I FIND IT AND GET IT INTO THE PROPER PLACE?

    Thanks for your reply.
    I'm using version 10.9.4
I found the previous 5.7 plug in, trashed it, and started over again. Then I, once again, downloaded Camera Raw version 5.7, and then did the following:
I double clicked on the downloaded Camera_Raw_5.7 dmg and then double clicked on the cameraprofiles.mpkg
Then I installed the camera raw.plugin by going to (Macintosh hard drive) /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS4/File Formats, which was empty (somehow my previous version of Camera Raw was already gone).
Then dragged the new camera raw plugin from the dmg to the same folder.
I restarted my computer and there STILL is no Camera RAW in my Photoshop!! Good grief! Any more suggestions? Maybe you and I need to screen-share....
