How to save from .ai to .png without a gap

I created a repeating pattern. I made the artboard the exact size of the art. I zoomed in and there are no gaps around the edge. I saved it for web and devices png8 and the top has a gap with transparency showing through. When I use it as a web page background, there is a white stripe showing. I've tried twice to resave it but get the same gap.
I'm trying to upload the two images using the camera icon but nothing happens after I select the image and click the "insert image" button. Again, I've tried twice without a different result. Please advise.
Thank you.
Please help.
Kathleen

Having a hard time with google docs, sigh. Thank you for all your help.

  • How to save to .doc or .rtf without loosing formatting

    Hi, I have to submit academic assignments with either .doc or .rtf file extensions. However, in the University there is a protocol for headers and footers so that the assignment is anonymous and when quoting from reference documents we have to indent paragraphs. When writing this is pages and exporting to .doc or .rtf all of the formatting gets lost. If I submit these without the right formatting, I will get marked down. They will not accept .pdf, which works OK - how can I save in .doc or .rtf without loosing the formatting?

    Hi Peter Breis, you have suggested soemthing that works which is the first line and left paragraph indents but this still does not work with tabs. The .rtf is not a solution becaue of the need for headers and footers (with pages numbers). In the .rtf file they just appear at the end of the text rather than a header and footer.
    Anyway, in summary, thank you Peter, you have given me a solution that works which is to indent using first line and left paragraph indents and to export into a .doc document. The headers and footers export without a problem using this method. I will nominate all the extra marks that I will get from following the University's protocol to you!, Thanks!

  • How to save JFrame image as png format?

    hello all..
    i've encountered some problem while i using my Java3D to load my VRML file & save it in png format.
    i've loaded the VRML file in my Java 3D and display it on the JFrame.
    now, i want to save the image as PNG format, but i can't save the image, but just save the background & canvas.
    here's my code:

  • How to save an image to file without rendering to screen?

    Does anyone know of a way I can save a buffered image to a file (as a jpg) without having to render it to a screen first? I can create the file fine if I place the image on a JPanel first. However when I try to save the image directly to a file, the program hangs when I try to render the image to a Graphics object. Is there some sort of initialisation carried out on the image when it is displayed on screen which I need to carry out to save the image offscreen?
    Just as a background, what I am trying to achieve is to create a chart (using Monarch Charts library) based on a supplied set of data, and then to save this chart as a jpg. It works fine if I first display the chart in a JPanel but not when I try to save it offscreen.
    Can anyone help me out here?
    Thanks,
    Ciaran

    Here's the code I use in JFreeChart to create a buffered image - the third line draws the chart using the Graphics2D obtained from the BufferedImage:
        public BufferedImage createBufferedImage(int width, int height) {
            BufferedImage image = new BufferedImage(width , height, BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB);
            Graphics2D g2 = image.createGraphics();
            this.draw(g2, new Rectangle2D.Double(0, 0, width, height), null);
            g2.dispose();
            return image;
        }Writing to a JPEG can be done like this (method taken from the ChartUtilities class in JFreeChart):
        public static void writeChartAsJPEG(OutputStream out, JFreeChart chart, int width, int height)
            throws IOException {
            BufferedImage image = chart.createBufferedImage(width, height);
            JPEGImageEncoder encoder = JPEGCodec.createJPEGEncoder(out);
            JPEGEncodeParam param = encoder.getDefaultJPEGEncodeParam(image);
            param.setQuality(1.0f, true);
            encoder.encode(image, param);
        }If you want to try some running code, download JFreeChart from:
    http://www.object-refinery.com/jfreechart/index.html
    ...then run this application:
    package com.jrefinery.chart.demo;
    import java.io.File;
    import com.jrefinery.chart.JFreeChart;
    import com.jrefinery.chart.ChartFactory;
    import com.jrefinery.chart.ChartUtilities;
    import com.jrefinery.chart.demo.DemoDatasetFactory;
    import com.jrefinery.data.XYDataset;
    public class ChartToFile {
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            XYDataset data = DemoDatasetFactory.createTimeSeriesCollection2();
            JFreeChart chart = ChartFactory.createTimeSeriesChart("Sample Chart", "Time", "Rate", data, true);
            File file = new File("MyChart.jpg");
            try {
                ChartUtilities.saveChartAsJPEG(file, chart, 400, 300);
            catch (java.io.IOException e) {
                System.out.println(e.getMessage());
    }Regards,

  • How to save XML timeformat to oracle without loosing "timezone-compensati"

    I hope i post this in the correct forum and I provide enough info for you to understand what I'm looking for...
    Some time ago I got some help here about how to read a incoming XML-file and insert data into a table, where the Element-tag describes the tablename and the Attributes describes the column-names. See post : [ https://forums.oracle.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=10284116#10284116]
    During testing we discovered that on some incoming messages there where Date-fields, the date/time-values has the format '2012-04-19T14:00:05+02:00' which causing us problems when saving the value to our oracle table.
    This is (simplifyed) how the message look like:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <PickResult>
    <Metadata>
    <TransactionIdentity>"00000011"</TransactionIdentity>
    <MessageTypeIdentity>"MyMessageType"</MessageTypeIdentity>
    <MessagePartyIdentity>"02"</MessagePartyIdentity>
    </Metadata>
    <Data>
    <PickResult PickingTime="2012-04-19T14:00:05+02:00" ProductDate="2012-04-20" Picker="MyEmployee" />
    </Data>
    </PickResult
    I've tried different types on the PICKINGTIME-column like "DATE", "TIMESTAMP" and "TIMESTAMP(6) WITH LOCAL TIME ZONE" but I still get oracle errors like
    "ORA-01858: a non-numeric character was found where a numeric was expected"
    "ORA-01861: literal does not match format string"
    when I run the statement.
    If I declare the PICKINGTIME-column as "DATE" it works without errors but it doesn't add the two extra hours(+02:00) to the time which is very importent since the Picking time must be accurate.
    This is the how the "final" Insert-statement look like which I need to modify somehow to make it accept the timeformat from the message:
    INSERT INTO PickResult( PICKER, PICKINGTIME, PRODUCTDATE)
    SELECT PICKER, PICKINGTIME, PRODUCTDATE
    FROM XMLTable('/PickResult/Data/descendant::PickResult'
    PASSING :1 COLUMNS
    PICKER varchar2(35) path '@PICKER'
    , PICKINGTIME date path '@PICKINGTIME'
    , PRODUCTDATE date path '@PRODUCTDATE')
    Can anyone provide me with some input how to solve this problem because I'm totally stucked...
    ps. please forgive me for my poor "technical" english.
    //Peter

    Hi,
    PickingTime="2012-04-19T14:00:05+02:00"xs:dateTime format is mapped to TIMESTAMP (WITH TIME ZONE) in SQL.
    This works for me :

  • How to print from an Ipad2 3G without changing networks?

    I bought my elderly parents an Ipad 3G for Christmas because they cannot get anything but dial-up service at their home for a computer.  We also bought an HP printer with AirPrint and e-Print.  However, in order to print to the printer, you must turn off the 3G network and enter a wireless network that the printer is on.  Well, going into setting and changing every time they want/need to print is simply to technical for them.  is there any way to print directly to the printer, wirelessly, using either the AirPrint or this e-Print that HP has?  Has anyone written a 3rd party app that will do this?  Why doesn't Apple fix this issue since people are paying very expensive prices plus monthly fees to have the 3G versions so they can gain internet access.  IMHO, without the ability to print to a printer while on the 3G and connected to the internet, the thing is near useless.  Apple has really dropped the ball, here, and I think that this is very unlike Apple not to have thought of this.
    Does anyone know of an app that when you need to print and push print, will automatically switch to the printer network, send the file to the printer, and then swithch back.  I think this is a poor way to do this, but at least it is a way to do it that won't require my parents to get all upset trying to go into settings and fool with turning networks on and off.
    Thanks,
    JJ the mustang man

    JJ-
    I do not have the 3G model.  Is this a real problem, or just one you are worried will happen?  I was under the impression that the 3G iPad would change its Internet connection between WiFi and 3G as needed, but would continue to print via WiFi regardless of how it accessed the Internet.

  • How to print from a guest account without needing password

    Every time someone uses my computer as a guest and tries to print it always asks them to "hold for authentication".  How do I get around this?

    Go into Control Panel > Printers.  Delete either the problem computer or both computers from the list.
    Re-add them:
    1. Click "Start" button --> Printers and Faxes.
    2. Under Printer Tasks, click "Add Printer".
    3. Click "Next" button on the Add Printer Wizard window.
    4. Select "Local printer attached to this computer". Deselect "Automatically detect and install My Plug and play printer". Click "Next".
    5. Under Select a Printer Port option, select "Create a new port" and select "Standard TCP/IP Port" and click "Next" button.
    6. In the "Welcome to the Add Standard TCP/IP printer port wizard" make sure that the printer is turned on and connected to same network that your computer is connected to. Click "Next" button.
    7. Under "Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port" enter the printer's IP address. Click "Next" then click "Finish".
    8. Now, select HP from the list of manufacturers, select your printer from the list of Printer models and click 'Next' button.
    9. If you can't find your printer, you'll need to find the install CD and use the "Have Disk" option to select one of the hp*.ini files. Alternatively, you can select another HP printer model from the same type.
    10. Add the print spooler name and click "Next".
    11. Click "Next"
    12. Click "Next" and then "Finish"
    Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • How to install from DVD onto machine without DVD drive

    My boss has a laptop without a DVD drive, and wants to install Tiger. Tiger comes on a DVD. What is the best way to complete this install?
    If I put the DVD in my laptop, then mount it as an external drive will that give us access to the DVD within it?

    You can copy Tiger to CD's (if you already have the Tiger DVD's) and do the install from CD's. Or if your boss has a firewire port on his laptop you can plug in a firewire DVD drive and run the installation from there. You will need to hold down the option key to select which drive to start off of.
    If you haven't already purchased Tiger you could buy the CD version on eBay.

  • How to copy from iPod to iTunes without having old iTunes version?

    I have a first generation iPod nano. The songs on this were loaded from an old windows based desktop which has long since passed on. I want to copy the songs from this iPod into itunes on a brand new apple MacBook. Can I do this? All the forums I seem to refer to require iTunes working on the old computer, which I do not have.

  • How do i remove the white background from a logo and save it to my computer without the background

    how do i remove the white background from a logo and save it to my computer without the background

    Is the logo in a pixel layer surrounded by white?
    You could make it a layer if it isn't already, then use the Layer Style dialog and set the Blend If parameter so that it will make light colors transparent...
    You can composite it into a web page with transparency by saving it as a PNG file, as JJMack has noted.
