How to save incoming messages in Mail?

Hate to sound as if the only mail programs I've ever used are Yahoo and Hotmail, but where is the "Saved Mail" folder, and why can't I create NEW folders to nest inside "Saved Mail"? I investigated "Smart" mailboxes, but that doesn't appear to be the same thing. Any help appreciated...

Welcome to Apple Discussions.
You can create nested folders under "ON MY MAC" into which you can move your messages from the Inbox. You can create folders within folders to further categorise messages received so that you end up with a structured storage method.

  • How to save sent messages in mail??

    For the life of me, I cannot figure out a rule that simply saves sent mail in the sent folder and marks it as read. I do not see a simple "save sent mail" setting in preferences, so I set up a rule that I want applied to outgoing mail only, and the problem is that it's being applied to outgoing and incoming. Here is the closest I could come up with:
    If all of the following conditions are met:
    -from is equal to (my email address)
    perform the following actions:
    -move message to mailbox sent
    -mark as read
    So with this rule everything works correctly except all of the mail that is sent from my email address to my email address (such as an automated reminder email) is going into the sent mail and marked as read. If I select "copy" message to mailbox, two copies are saved in mail.
    I had this working correctly in Tiger, not sure if there used to be a saved sent mail setting or if my rule was somehow different and I'm not figuring out what it was.
    After all this, I'm sure someone is going to point out something that's right in front of my face.

    I am using a simple pop account. My goal is to simply save all sent mail in the sent folder while having them marked as read. The only setting in preferences I see regarding sent mail is under: accounts/mailbox behaviors/erase copies of sent mail when -> select Never.
    I have never selected, but sent mail is not being saved in the sent folder without the rule I created. Although the rule doesn't do exactly what I want because it is applied to both incoming and outgoing mail and I only want it applied to outgoing. I'm pretty sure I shouldn't even need a rule with "never" selected under mailbox behaviors and mail is just not functioning properly. I've seen some other threads about people's sent mail being saved very sporadically, so I wouldn't doubt that this is a bug with mail.

  • How to save video messages to a file on Mac?

    How to save video messages to a file on Mac? Please, help. Thank you.Claire

    Claire, I use a Mac w/ the latest copy of Skype and it IS possible to first play the file and then download it.  Steps are available for it but it involves some technical wizardry that can be above some muggles.   Then I found a post where some some VERY bright person made a small downloaded program for the Mac which once the video message has been played recently, you can run this program and download the file for safe keeping ( ALWAYS BACKUP or store it in the cloud for safety )  Kudos are deserved to user alvarop for this! http://community.skype.com/t5/Mac/Video-Message-Exporter-App/m-p/2351609 It worked for me to download a video message that I recently played back.  Let me know if you need any assistance getting it downloaded you can PM me on here and I'll be happy to help with a screenshare. Best Regards,-Shawn G

  • How to attribute a colour code to a incoming message in Mail?

    I'd like to attribute colour codes to Inbox messages.
    In Outlook, you can select a message and give hem a colour refering to a group or a map (categorize).
    I use already smart maps for ordening my messages, but I still miss a visual code in my Inbox.
    I also use the rules to attribute colour to incomming messages, but I need to be able to add a colour to a message out of the rule.
    Please help!

    Here's another way:
    1. Convert the picture to grayscale. As usual there are many ways to do this but here are two:
    Enhance > Adjust Color > Remove Color
    or
    Enhance > Adjust Color > Hue/Saturation,
    and move the Saturation slider all the way left.
    2. Add a blank layer above the picture layer.
    3. Set the Foreground color to your new color.
    4. Alt-Backspace to fill the new layer with the Foreground color.
    5. Change the layer's blending mode to Color.
    6. Lower the layer's opacity to get result you want.
    In this example I set the Foreground to blue and Opacity to 30%.
    http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=11k0iWXbZQtl3ycjGtFKYwBuFUwlp1
    You might also experiment with other blend modes, such as Overlay, Soft Light, Hard Light, and others. Each will require a different Opacity to get your result.

  • Prevent incoming messages in Mail App

    I'm not very fond of using the integrated mail app in mavericks. However I love how I am able to compose a message simply by clicking someones email on a website. But my question is, how can I turn off incoming messages from being stored in my mailbox? I would like the app to function where there are no incoming messages or junk in the mail app. The version is a 7.3 and my mac is running on mavericks 10.9.3

    If I understand you correctly, you would like to handle your mail directly on the remote server? That is not possible from Mail.app. There may be other Mail clients that offer this option or you could simply handle your Mail with your web browser.

  • How to delete multiple messages in mail

    How to select a bunch of messages in mail to delete.

    I Wonder if your sitting there laughing at us as if there is some big conspiracy about selecti all and deleting all from our iPhones and iPads.
    The conspiracy.
    Why can we not just not select all in the mail inbox and then delete all, if we do not want to delete every single one of them then deselect the few that we do not want to delete instead of having to select the thousands we do want delete individually.
    And if you do make a mistake and delete the wrong emails by selecting all, then go to your trash and reinstate the ones you did not want to delete
    I think 99% of us know how to DELETE emails individually, as you put it.
    That's just sarcasm and if not then then your not fully understanding the question asked.
    I would also say that probably 99% of us want to be able to select all and delete all if that's what we desire.
    I would just like a honest answer of why we cannot select all delete all rather than giving me a load of rubbish about encase we delete something we didn't want to delete.

  • Incoming messages - E-Mail Alerts for Application Errors?

    Dear C4C Community,
    We are integrating C4C and our SAP ERP. Sometimes the business partner replication is not working due to unmapped entries or due to other reasons. Currently we are checking the web service message monitor manually for incoming message with status "Application Error".
    Is there any way to setup an automatic e-mail alert when new incoming message errors appear? I do not like the manual monitoring process.
    Looking forward to your feedback.
    Best Regards
    Matthias

    Hello Matthias,

  • How to send incoming XML as mail-attachment

    Hi Experts,
    I have the following scenario: an incoming XML-file should be send as attachment of a mail. Now, I have defined incoming message with the structure of the xml-message and outgoing message as mail-package. In the message mapping I fill the nessesary mail-fields. In my receiver comm.channel (mailadapter) I checked "Use mail package" and "Keep attachment".
    Result is that the mail is created and send ok, but without attachment....what am I doing wrong here?
    Regards,
    William

    Hi JWD,
    You should configure the mail adapter with 'use the mail adpater' and 'keep attachments'.
    Create an XML file conform the XML structure provide by SAP
    The mail package should look like this:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <ns:MT_Mail_Sent xmlns:xi="http://sap.com/xi/XI/Mail/30">
    <xi:Mail>
    <Subject>Item</Subject>
    <From>MAIL ADDRESS</From>
    <To>MAIL ADRESS</To>
    <Content_Type>multipart/mixed; boundary="AaBb--984dfgeSSd3532"</Content_Type>
    <Content_Disposition>attachment</Content_Disposition>
    <Content>
    AaBb984dfgeSSd3532
    Content-Type: text/plain
    this is sample data.
    AaBb984dfgeSSd3532
    Content-Type: text/plain;name="CSV_data.csv"
    Order number;Item number;description<xsl:text> </xsl:text>
    <xsl:for-each select="Article_line">
    <xsl:value-of select="Ord_nmbr"/>;<xsl:value-of select="Item_nmbr"/>;<xsl:value-of select="Description<xsl:text>
    </xsl:text></xsl:for-each>
    AaBb984dfgeSSd3532
    Content-Type: text/plain;name="TXT_data.txt"
    Order number;Item number;description<xsl:text> </xsl:text>
    <xsl:for-each select="Article_line">
    <xsl:value-of select="Ord_nmbr"/>;<xsl:value-of select="Item_nmbr"/>;<xsl:value-of select="Description<xsl:text> </xsl:text></xsl:for-each>
    AaBb984dfgeSSd3532
    </Content>
    </xi:Mail>
    </ns:MT_Mail_Sent>
    In the above example you should have some content and 2 attachments (1 csv file and 1 txt file).
    After each break (AaBb984dfgeSSd3532) specify again the 'Content-Type'.
    *When you want to send a message payload as described, you have to set in the mail receiver channel the parameter Content Encoding to None and uncheck Keep Attachments.
    The last boundary AaBb984dfgeSSd3532 should be omitted, as the mail adapter sets that border itself (tested with SP16)*
    Reward points if this helps
    Regards
    Pragathi.

  • How to DELETE a message in mail

    Not how to delete the message after you read it......
    I want to delete KNOWN spam emails before I open them....
    On my samsung you just hold your finger on the email and the delete choice comes up BEFORE you open that spam mail. I use an Imap account so the emails are not fully downloaded.
    F

    You should watch the tutorial videos if you have not.
    In answer to your question, slide your finger over the email header and to the right. A red Delete button will appear. Tap Delete. Check out this clip on how to delete email.
    You will find it as #2 on Finger Tips and at the time this was posted, the clip was also displayed to #2 Delete a Message.

  • Excessive Incoming Messages in Mail configured to Yahoo Mail

    From a Mac newby...
    Each time I open Mail on my new Mac Mini (OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.3), Mail Activity shows thousands of incoming messages arriving at a rate of roughly 40 per minute. But the only emails going into my inbox are "legitimate" emails from friends and customers.
    I've configured Mail to use Yahoo Mail (although I've also set up and enabled an iCloud account which I don't use). Are those thousands of incoming messages in fact old Yahoo Mail messages that have to load onto Mail each time I open it?
    Whatever they are, is this avoidable? I don't seem to be losing any messages, but it slows the computer down for quite a while, and just doesn't "feel right".
    If this is an issue inherent to Yahoo Mail on a Mac, I will consider using a different main address. What sort of address is least likely to be problematic with Mail software? Changing my main email address is a big deal and I wouldn't want to have to do it again in the near future.
    P.S. Would prefer answers that are understandable to, say, an unusually bright chimp

    If I understand you correctly, you would like to handle your mail directly on the remote server? That is not possible from Mail.app. There may be other Mail clients that offer this option or you could simply handle your Mail with your web browser.

      You probably will have to use software and a cable to hook up to the phone and run to be able to do that. I have a couple of Samsung basic phones before, and the only way I could do it was to use DataViz? software before? I think that is the name of it?

  • How to validate incoming messages with mandatory field coming as null/empty

    Hi,
    I want to validate the incoming messages received by the file adpater.
    1. Need to check that all the mandatory fields(minoccurs=1) has values, else it should return fault. But what happening now is even though the mandatory fields are empty/null, file is being read by the file adapter and not getting faulted.
    2. I have tried using the Validate Activity/Assign Activity but this is a business fault and not sytem fault, hence no faults are auto generated.
    3. We are presently using the if/switch activity and putting the conditions manually in order to validate the mandatory fields and hence it is throwing the business faults explicitly.
    4. But if there is 200 fields mandatory out of 500 fields schema, then we need to hardocde manually all 200 fields. Please advise me if this is possible in any dynamic way.
    Thanks

    Dear vijay,
    This is my xsd::
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    <xsd:schema xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
    xmlns="http://www.example.org"
    targetNamespace="http://www.example.org"
    elementFormDefault="qualified">
    <xsd:element name="exampleElement">
    <xsd:annotation>
    <xsd:documentation>
    A sample element
    </xsd:documentation>
    </xsd:annotation>
    <xsd:complexType>
    <xsd:sequence>
    *<xsd:element name="element1" type="xsd:string" minOccurs="0"*
    nillable="false"/>
    *<xsd:element name="element2" type="xsd:int" minOccurs="0"*
    nillable="false"/>
    </xsd:sequence>
    </xsd:complexType>
    </xsd:element>
    </xsd:schema>
    I tried the above xsd as well as
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    <xsd:schema xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
    xmlns="http://www.example.org"
    targetNamespace="http://www.example.org"
    elementFormDefault="qualified">
    <xsd:element name="exampleElement">

    nillable="false"/>
    </xsd:sequence>
    </xsd:complexType>
    </xsd:element>
    </xsd:schema>
    But instance is getting completed even though the mandatory string field(element 1) is empty/null like:
    <element1></element1>
    What I feel is, string will accept all the values whether it is int, date, long and in the same way it is accepting null character.
    Please let me know if you have any solutions to overcome this.
    Thanks again.
