How to Save OVER original instead of creating another file

Hi, I set up iphoto to edit in photoshop. When I use photoshop I save it as is, without renaming or finding a new folder to put it in. At first, I assumed I would be effectively saving OVER the original, but when I clicked through "Show File" in iphoto it showed me a file in a modified folder.
Since then I have had to save my photoshopped photos in a completely different folder, imported them into iphoto, and deleted the originals. This is a pain. I would really love to find a way (or have someone create a way) to opt to save OVER the original. Sometimes, yes, it is nice to keep the original. But I am wise enough to decide for myself when the original is garbage and it's killing me to try to work around this. I'm not running out of space on my computer yet (it's only 9 months old) but I'd like to make sure I am not wasting any space.
Thanks for your help!

Media Expression will do what you want and it will allow you to manage your folders yourself, add keywords, create albums (called Supplemental Categories) and a lot more.
Unfortunately (or not) iPhoto follows the tenets of good DAM (digital asset management) and preserves the original file as the digital negative. EM can do the same thing or let the user overwrite it if desired. All good DAM applications protect the original in one way or another. If an edit were to go wrong somehow and was accidentally saved there would be no going back.
Another option would be to use an image browser to manage the photos and use iPhoto only for special projects like books, calendars, cards, etc. That's what I do. I use EM to manage my photos and iPhoto for the special stuff.

    Use File >> Save As
    Choose a different file name so as not to overwrite the original and don't save any changes when closing the original.

    Actually the report is created in webi java panel using RE SDK and  is saved in Report Sample Folder then i'm saving it in user's personal category by following code
    string query = "Select SI_PERSONAL_CATEGORIES From CI_INFOOBJECTS Where "
                         + "SI_INSTANCE=0 And SI_ID=" + reportID;
                    InfoObjects infoObjects = infoStore.Query(query);
                    InfoObject infoObject = infoObjects[1];
                    Webi wreport = (Webi)infoObject;
                    ObjectRelativeIDs personalIDs = wreport.PersonalCategories;
                /personalIDs.Add(Convert.ToInt32(categoryID));
                   infoStore.Commit(infoObjects);
    But the report is presents in the Folder also and in user's personal category also.
    I dont want the report to be in the folder (Report Sample) if i saved it in user's personal category.
    How can i do that?
    any idea.
    Please help me.

  • How to save an image as a PICT resource file?

    Can someone tell me how to save an image as a PICT resource file? I'd like to make ikons in Photoshop and save them in this format, but I 'm not finding any leads. Thanks!

    If you have Resorcerer from "ancient times" it of course can handle resource forks since that's was it's goal in life.
    There are lots of icon creation apps these days.  Do a search for "icon" on macupdate.com to see what's available.  For example that search finds:
    iconXprit

  • How to Save SQL query template as a text file

    Hi,
    How to save a SQL query template in my server as a Text file?? I tried using Text saver but it is not getting saved in the path specified.
    Sweety

    Hi Sweety,
    In the transaction editor (for business logic), add your query template to a transaction.  Add a Tracer after and link the Query property of the SQL Query action block to the Message property of the transaction.  Run the transaction and you will see your Action Block's sql script as the message from the Tracer.  You can do the same with the Server property, SD and ED, etc.
    Also if you wish to dynamically load the sql script into the query, you can do that at run time by linking a script source to the query property.  Useful to have if you have to use a complex expression to dynamically create your script.  This sometimes occurs when you have multiple filtering inputs from a webpage and you can reduce the number of tables in a complex join when the fields are left empty.  Normally this would be done as a way to improve the performance of the query.
    Hopefully this is clear.  If not I can probably provide some sample expressions.

  • How to populate a table instaed of creating a file

    Hello Everybody,
    I have been thinking if any of you has ever done simmilar thing..
    I have a crontab task that runs a script that gathers some space statistics each month from couple of servers..and sends an output to a file..
    how to redirect that output so it populates certain table in the database?
    can you recomend best approach?
    thanks a lot,
    agat81

    The easiest way would be to create your file in a way that it will look like
    insert into your_table_name values (bla, 1,2 ,3);
    insert into your_table_name values (blub, 4,5 ,6);
    commit;
    Then execute the script with sqlplus from cron.

  • How to save contents of a JTextArea to a file without the newline blocks?

    Hello everyone
    I have created a GUI with a JTextArea and a button to save the contents of the JTextArea to a text file. I am working on a windows platform. Problem is that when saving the contents to the file, the newline block appears within the file ignoring the newline in the JTextArea.
    Is there a way of saving these contents the way they appear in the JTextArea preserving the format they are displayed? I want to create a file that looks exactly the way my JTextArea looks like.
    Up to the moment i am using the following code which produces a rather confusing file:
    save.addActionListener(
                        new ActionListener() {
                             public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
                                  String textCaptured = textArea.getText();
                                  File file = new File("Log.txt");
                                  try {
                                       BufferedWriter out = new BufferedWriter(new FileWriter(file));
                                       out.write(textCaptured);
                                       out.flush();
                                       out.close();
                                  } catch (IOException e1) {
                                       // TODO Auto-generated catch block
                                       e1.printStackTrace();
                                  finally{
                                       JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null,"Your log file has been created");

  • How to save pl/sql program unit in a file

    Could anyone please let me know how to save a pl/sql program in a program file. As per my knowledge Edit command is used to invoke the editor and save the program. But i am unable to use this command properly. I am using Oracle 10g on Linux

    One can edit SQL scripts and the command buffer (the last command entered) with the EDIT (or ED) command. However, sometimes one needs to select an editor before using this command. Examples:
    Use the Unix/Linux vi-editor:
    DEFINE _EDITOR=vi
    Use the Notepad on Windows:
    DEFINE _EDITOR=notepad
    PS: Add this command in your login.sql or glogin.sql scripts so it executes every time you start sqlplus.
    Does that answers your question?

  • How to get data from BW Cube to Another File system?

    Hi,
    I have a requirement to get the sales data from BW system(infoCube) to another file system as XML file using XI as a middleware. Can anybody give the suggestions on this please?

    Take a look at the following document. You will get a fair idea how to integrate BW and XI.

  • How to "Save Image" directly instead of "Save Image As"?

    Is there anyway or option to directly save images instead of having to click "save image as" then go into the popup to save the image location? Thank you!

    Gingerbread Man made good suggestions.
    However you still must "save as" something even if "unnamed001". Windows requires a name and location for each file (whether an image or other file) saved. You can have the same file name in different directories (folders).
    You can copy and paste images without saving, in some applications.

  • How to save as .cvs instead of plain .txt?

    Hi, I am new at the whole LabVIEW thing.  I'm sorry if this was posted before, but I can't find this with search.  After acquiring data, how do I create a .cvs file with timestamp (comma separated value) with LabVIEW?  What VI or VIs should I use?  Thanks.

    RobinC,
    I think another option for you is the "Write to LabVIEW measurement file" (I'm assuming you have LabVIEW 7). If you are using a DAQmx vi, you can set it to output a waveform which has time stamp information in it.
    The "Getting Started with LabVIEW" manual would be a great resource for you too. You can get to it by going to help>>search the LabVIEW book shelf>>Getting Started with LabVIEW. The end of chapter two discusses using the Write to LabVIEW measurement file.vi.
