How to save site template with subsites..?

Hi,
I am trying to save site as template., and found that subsites are not part of that site template..
Can anybody tell me how can I save site as template with subsites.?...
Thanks,
Parag

As Paul said you can only save a single site at a time.  I'm not sure specifically what you are trying to do, but it wouldn't be terribly difficult to write some code which provisions a site with specific subsites.  I've seen this type of scenario
handled many times via both manual and automated processes.  It all just depends on the requirements.John Ross

  • How to create a site template with subsites on SharePoint Online (2013, wave 15)

I need to create a site template of a site that contains 4 subsites.
I have tried saving the parent site as a "site template", but when i create a new site based on this template, I don't get any of the subsites created.
Anyone knows why the subsites are not included in the template?
    Thank you!
    José

That is by design.  Site templates are a template for a specific site within a site collection and never include sub-sites.  In an On-premises environment you could create a Portal Site Template, but this won't work in SharePoint Online.  To
build something equivalent in SharePoint online you would either need to use a Sandbox solution or custom client side code.

  • How to save a png with a straight or fat alpha?

Long story short, work in broadcast and a new piece of gear prefers png files.  I know how to save png's with a transparency, that's not the problem.  What I don't know how to do or if it's possible is to save them with a straight or fat alpha.  Right now we feather or extend the edges out past the alpha of say a logo and save it as a tif, psd or .tga.  That way once it's keyed over video or whatever, the edges look good, no black bad edging.... this makes sense, probably not explaining it very well.   But switching to png files I have no idea how to make a straight or fat alpha since it sees transparency.  I mean if I feathered out the edges, a png will see that correct, since there's no alpha??
I hope this makes sense ?

Chris, this is probably the answer I seek "PNG always saves with straight color - that's how the PNG spec defines it."
I admit my explanation was a bit weak and I understand PNG only supports transparency, which is not an alpha,  and the apps aren't treating them wrong....I just couldn't formulate an intelligent question and explain it, my bad.
After thinking about it I don't think using a PNG will work. RIght now for broadcast gear/applications if we don't fill the transparent and semi-transparent areas of an image with the colored part of the image, we usually end up getting a dirty key/matte or a lot of fringing.  So when using a .tif or .tga that reads an actuall alpha, we can fix the issue by doing what I described.  In fact we use a quick little plugin from flaming Pear called "Solidifty" to speed up the process http://www.flamingpear.com/download.html .  With that said, I know we can't do the same steps with a png because it only sees transparency, but I guess I was wondering if there was a work-around or a trick to fix that issue.  I could be wong, but doesn't a png save with white ?
But again, as I thought about it, I think i'm asking for something it's not meant to do, but I thought I'd ask anyway.
Thanks Chris, does this make more sense or more confusing?  The bottom-line is I don't think it will work.

  • How to save a graph with some parameters on it?

    hi
my application involves analysis of data and plot a graph of analysed data, how to save graph along with analysed data in a file otherthan labview?

Well, it sounds like you are wanting a picture of the graph, yes? If so there are two ways of getting it. First there is a VI method (Get Panel Image) that lets you get an image of the entire screen, and then there is a control method (Get Image) that lets you get an image of just the front panel object that you are interested in.
The help file entries for either method provides added detail on how to uses these methods to save a picture of your data.

  • How to Save site as template in SharePoint 2010

    hello,
I am little bit confused about how I can save a site as a template in moss 2010!
In SharePoint 2007 it was simple > site actions > save site as template... and done!
but I do not find how to make that in the new SharePoint, I would be really happy if someone could tell me how to do that.
    I found some tutorial:
To create a Site Template, browse to the Site you want to create from.  Go to Site Actions –> Site Settings –> Save site as template (under the Site Actions heading).  Give your template a name, and don't forget to check the "Include Content" box if you want to include library and list content in the template.  This will create a new site template in your Solutions Gallery, which you can then use when creating new sites.  You can also download directly from the Solutions Gallery to a .WSP file.
but the thing is, I do not have the "save site as template" link! I also checked if I need some special site feature activated, but I have all activated.
    thank you in advance

I imagine you are trying to save a publishing site as a template, correct? If so, the save as site template link is not available for publishing sites. This was not supported in MOSS and I imagine isn't in SharePoint 2010. The reason was due to publishing sites having pages and layouts tied to content types that do not move with the template.
If you would like a work around, you can disable the publishing feature (which will then make the save as site template link visible), save the site as a template, then re-enable the publishing feature. You would have to re-enable the publishing feature on each new site built from this template, if desired.
Go to Site Actions > Site Settings > Manage site features under Site Actions. Deactive the SharePoint Server Publishing feature, then go back to the Site Settings page. You should now see the save as site template link. After you save the template, turn back on SharePoint Server Publishing.

  • Can enable a site template for subsites via editing webtemp.xml but how do I change in my solution files?

I have a template wsp that I deploy then create a new top level site. The template is available perfectly.
I then try to create a subsite and the template isn't available. So I went to .../14/TEMPLATE/1033/XML/WEBTEMP.XML
    I added in my template...
    <Template Name="MYTEMPLATE" SetupPath="SiteTemplates\MyTemplate" ID="202">
    <Configuration ID="0" Title="My Site Title" Hidden="FALSE" ImageUrl="" Description="A site I created."></Configuration>
    </Template>
Now after an IIS reset the templates show under the "Custom" tab perfectly.
BUT the question is what file do I change in my actual solution files before I package everything up? What would add this to the webtemp.xml automatically for me when my solution is deployed?
    Thanks,

The terminology is confusing, but what you are actually adding is a "Site Definition".  Site Templates are .wsp files that can be saved as a snapshot of an existing site for re-use.  These .wsp files are stored in the site template gallery of a
site collection.  There are also Web Templates that are similar to Site Definitions since they use an ONET.XML file, but they are activated using a Feature.  Together Site Definitions, Site Templates, and Web Templates are known as Site Templates
in the User Interface.  But each one is deployed and activated differently.  Site Devfinitions are normally added to the environment by using Module features to deploy the site definition in its own subdirectory where the other site definitions are
stored.  A custom webtemp file is also deployed instead of editing the existing file.  SahrePoint will pick up any file that is stored in that location that starts with webtemp and ends in .xml.  So you can deploy a new webtemp file called Webtemp_custom.xml.
If you are actually deploying a site template then you just upload it to the site template gallery of the site collection.  If you still aren't seeing it in the custom tab then its probably because the root site has restricted the available site templates
for creating subsites.  This is common in Publishing sites, but can be done in any site.  In Publishing sites there is a link on the site settings page that you can use to select what site templates are available to create sub sites.  In non-publishing
    sites it requires powershell

  • How to share pages template with word users?

I made a pages template with placeholder text and need word users to fill in the placeholders, how do I save this template to share it with word users?

Thank you for your quick response!
The template has colored shapes, therefore upon export it changes the formatting and nothing lines up-of course!
When I export it and open it in on my old macbook(OSX10.6.8) in word for mac 2004 it opens as a document not a template.  The export is as a document, not a template, maybe it is not possible-ugh!

  • Given the the user the right to save site template

    Hello,
how can i give a user the right so save a site as site template. Being in the "Site Owners" group didn#t seem to be enough to do that.
Like written in the manual: https://support2.microsoft.com/kb/2420856?wa=wsignin1.0
the menu entry "Save site as template" just don't exist for all "Site Owners" users.
    Thank you.

    Hi Mafrei,
Thanks for posting your query, Saving a site as a template creates a Site Template.
Creating a web template in Visual Studio using the new WebTemplate feature creates a Web Template.
When the Publishing features (web or site collection scoped) are activated it is not supported to save your site as a template. If you do want to save your site as a template using the SharePoint user interface you should not activate the publishing features.
If you do need to activate the publishing features you should create web templates using Visual Studio instead of saving your site as a template through the user interface.
I hope this is helpful to you. If this works, Please mark it as Answered.

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that SharePoint 2010 (SP2010 SP1+ AU CU 2011) site built with Project Web Access template shows warning "Your Local Machine Time Zone does not match your current Sharepoint Regional Settings".
