How to Save Stationery in Apple Mail?

I have created a greeting card, and saved as JPG. I formatted a message, with subject line etc. and Saved as Stationery. The option appears as a thumbnail in Custom Stationery, but when I click, it is not applied as Stationery, and the thumbnail window stays open. When I try the Apple supplied templates, they format the message when clicked. Is JPG not the correct forrmat to Save? What else could I be doing wrong? I thought I followed the Help instructions carefully.
thanks

I found a similar query where a suggestion was made to omit signature immediately when selecting "New Message". This allows the custom template to appear in the email, but the thumbnail window will still not dismiss. Almost there -any suggestions?

  • How do I restore just Apple Mail (and all its folders & settings) with TM?

    Hi folks,
I was trying to set up an e-mail client on a PC, clicked and unclicked my gmail pop & imap on and off, and when I got home to my Apple MacBook, I had inadvertently reloaded (twice!) every e-mail that I've ever gotten in g-mail to Apple Mail which I use happily at home! No matter what I do, Apple Mail just won't delete the 29,000+ emails. And Mail is hanging, I suspect it just can't handle the massive numbers of e-mails and all the attachments, images, etc.
So I figure I must start from where I was at last Time Machine backup. I want to restore everything about Apple Mail as of my last backup -- all the same folders, saved mail, preferences, etc. How do I restore just Apple Mail but nothing else? Thanks!
    -- Josh

I've never done that, and don't think I've seen any similar posts here. You might want to look in the Mail and Address Book forum at: http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1223
Take a look on your system at +<your home folder>/Library/Mail.+ (List view is probably best for this).
You'll see a number of folders for accounts and mailboxes. There are separate folders for each account, and within them for various mailboxes, plus folders for "on my Mac" mailboxes.
With Mail off, of course, I think you should be able to restore either the entire Mail folder, or selected sub-folders within it, via Finder > Time Machine.
After you do that, you may need to use the +Mail > Mailboxes > Rebuild+ option in Mail.
(Do not use the specialized Mail > Time Machine +Recover your <named> Mailbox+ option there, as it will leave the current contents alone, and restore the messages to a new "restored" mailbox.)
Let us know if this helps or hurts.

  • How to Merge Eudora into Apple Mail?

Mac OS 10.5.8 is now obsolete. So I'm planning to upgrade to Lion 10.7.x.
Since Lion does not support Eudora, I must switch to some other email client. After many hours of research I have decided to switch to Apple Mail.
Unfortunately, the two popular conversion applications (Emailchemy and Eudora Mailbox Cleaner) appear no longer in existence.
Any good tips on how to merge Eudora into Apple Mail on OS 10.5.8 (so I can upgrade to Lion 10.7.x)?
    Thank you.
Scott "pulling his hair out" in Saint Louis

    Hi folks,
I just helped someone move 350k messages from a series of Eudora archives to Apple Mail.  Anyone who says they had great luck with Apple Mail directly importing their Eudora messages is either a liar or didn't notice (or care) that their dates were all messed up. So here are some notes.
First, Eudora Mailbox Cleaner only runs under 10.6 since it's PPC and requires Rosetta.  So you're gonna need a 10.6 or earlier mac (or virtual machine).
Second, After running Eudora Mailbox Cleaner, you need to poke Apple Mail into rebuilding all those mailboxes.  You can go Mailbox->Rebuild for each one if you only have a handful, but an alternative is to intentionally break (aka delete) Apple Mail's mailbox cache.  You can do this by deleting/renaming the file called 'Mailboxes' (IIRC, I don't have a 10.6 mac in front of me to double check).  Next time you open Apple Mail it will rebuild all your local mailboxes.
Third, Eudora Mailbox Cleaner will terminate if you throw it a particularly complex (or large group of mailboxes).  I assume it has something to do with the way it walks mailboxes.  You're going to want to break up any mail folder that has a number of large subfolders into multiple folders or imports. So for example, if you had the following structure:
    folder/
    folder/a (big)
    folder/b (big)
    folder/c (big)
Eudora mailbox cleaner will likely crash.  If you reparent your folder structure so it's something like this:
    folder/part1/a
    folder/part2/b
    folder/part3/c
This way no individual sub folder contains folders that exceed some magical threshold. I never figured out exactly how/why this happens, but if you put your big mailboxes each in their own folder, the import will usually just work.  You might also have to break up your import into smaller chunks.
A couple other things to note, Eudora allows pretty much anything in mailbox names including ~><*%$@&/\|` etc.  While most of these will continue to work fine in Apple Mail, it's in your best interest to rename them to something more normalized to steer clear of trouble.
As for Lion, I never successfully got Lion Mail to import mailboxes created by Eudora Mailbox Cleaner properly.  Either they wouldn't show up at all or they would show up nested with two copies of the mailbox, for example MailboxQQ had messages in it as well as subfolder MailboxQQ/Messages with a duplicate copy of the mail.
So for me, going from Eudora to Lion Apple Mail I had to do the following:
Eudora->Eudora Mailbox Cleaner->Apple Mail (on 10.6) then copy the files over to the Lion machine and let Apple Mail (on 10.7) import the 10.6 Apple Mail Mailboxes into it's new 'V2' mailbox format.
So good luck. A perfect migration is possible, it just takes some work.

  • Save and restore Apple Mail settings (Mail version 7.3x)

Can anyone assist with hints as to how to save/restore the GUI and other individual settings in Apple Mail (Version 7.3, Build 1878.2)?
In earlier mail version this could easily be done by simply saving & restoring the "apple.mail.pst" file. Thanks.

    Greetings,
I don't think you would have to use Time Machine at all for this; that would only complicate things. Instead try this:
    Quit Mail if it's running.
Go to Home/Library/Mail and remove your IMAP mailbox. and any Envelope Index file.
Restart Mail and wait for the index to rebuild, and with any luck it should download your email again, but only once. If so, then your problem would appear to be solved.

  • How do I restore an Apple Mail account to a previous date?

I have three accounts in Apple Mail: my Exchange server account, and two IMAP accounts. I need to restore ONLY the Exchange server mailbox to where it was on April 1st and can't do so the normal way of having the Exchange mail stores restored.
Is there anything in Time Machine back on April 1st that will either let me restore this account to that date, or at least act as an archive of the folders and their content that was in this account on that date?
I see the folders names I need (corresponding to my Mail tree structure) under home/library/mail/exchange/ but when I open any of the folders they each have one .plist file in them...that's it...no messages.
Thanks in advance for any help.
    LarryMcJ

you still should be able to do it just like I said. When mail is active, start TM and go back to the time point where all those folders were still present. Highlight them and click restore.
That's how TM is intended to work in Mail. really!
If you don't believe me and are determined to do it in Finder you can do that too.
Quit Mail and go to the folder homedirectory/Library/Mail
select the folder for the mail account that used to contain all those folders.
Start TM and go back to the time when those folders were there. restore them.
Finally, move the file Envelope Index from homedirectory/Library/Mail to desktop and start Mail. Mail will say that it needs to import your data. say yes. It will reindex everything and you'll be back to where you want to be.

  • How to get notes from Apple Mail to iPad Notes?

    Greetings,
I can not seem to find any way to get notes from Apple Mail on my Mac to Notes on my iPad.
What the heck do I have to do?
There is no Notes sync option in iTunes.
Also, I can not sign in to MobileMe in my System Preferences. It alway says the member name or passowrd is wrong. How do I find out what my member name is? I only know my Apple ID which is an email addres, and that does not work. I am able to sign into MobileMe on my iPad.

On your phone.  If you have Notes turned to On in Settings>iCloud, and also had notes on the phone prior to turning on this setting, you should have two accounts in the notes app: On My iPhone and iCloud (listed as your iCloud ID).
Did you have notes on your phone prior to turn on Notes in Settings>iCloud?  Is Notes turned to On in Settings>iCloud now?

  • How do I set up Apple Mail so I can send email from my domain name?

Until now, I've used Gmail to collect and respond to mail from my website.  How can I set up Apple to do this?  Dummy version please! And thank you.

My domain is hosted. My host provides my account with so many permitted email accounts. My email account, therefore, is set up on my host as: first_name@domain_name.com. In Mail you configure the incoming and outgoing mail servers as provided by your hosting service. In my case they are: mail.domain_name.com. The email username is my email account - first_name@domain_name.com. Of course you would have a password to access your mail account. Your account should be an IMAP account.
Now, if you plan to use iCloud.com for your mail, then the setup requires the server addresses: iCloud- Mail server settings for email clients. Your email account is usually your Apple ID and password.

  • How can I upload existing Apple Mail mailboxes to IMAC .mac account?

Hi... I use Tiger Apple mail on a POP account elsewhere and want to move to .mac IMAC so I can synchronize mail and maiboxes across computers. I have created my mail account on .mac and that is working fine. But I have a large number of mailboxes sitting in Apple mail on my computer. How can I upload those to the .mac account? I had anticipated tha synchronization would take care of it, but it hasn't.
    Any advice apperciated
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

I have found the answer - in bottom of my mailbox list was a new entry representing the IMAP folders. I need to drag my old folders onto this and it synchronised - except that some ex-Eudora messages which had been edited in Eudora (oh hat we could do that in Mail) had not converted properly.

  • Please help, dead end How do you import to Apple mail from Outlook express?

I have a client with an old Mac G3 tower running OS9 and Outlook Express 5.06. I have read all of Apples Mail help and searched for docs and the discussion board. It appears that since the Mac Pro Intel won't run classic I have to some sort of transfer via another app. I have actually found better info on doing this from a PC but no successful suggestions to do it Mac to Mac. I have moved the Microsoft User Data over, tried directly from Apple Mail, tried loading Mozilla and pulling it in there, no good. How do you do this successfully?

I think I have figured this out, looks like I might be able to import to Entourage then to Mail, anyone tried this?
