How to: Scale scene to fullscreen

I designed my app for 640x480 resolution, although I want to display it in fullscreen. This I wanted to achieve by scaleing the scene to the users screen resolution:
double scaleX = userWidh /  640.0 ;
double scaleY = userHeight / 480.0;
scene.getRoot().getTransforms().add(Transform.scale( scaleX , scaleY ));But this does not work (anymore), in javafx1.3 this was posible:
var myNode  : CustomNode = StartupTopNode{ id:"StartupTopNode", transforms: [ Transform.scale( SCALE_X, SCALE_Y), Transform.translate(0,0)]};The problem is when I change the stage size, then the scene automatically changes due to the managed layout panes, and scaling afterwards does not scale original scene size.
Is it still possible to scale a scene and to display in a different stage size ?

If you don't want the layout managers to take affect then you can also put your root node in a Group (instead of a ScrollPane).
Scaling a scene just to take up available space is a little odd, normally you would use layout managers so your scene would take advantage of the available space, growing the nodes that make sense and not the others. If you scale you will make everything bigger including borders and text. Maybe this is what you want, but it would only be an unusual and probably highly graphical UI (such as a game) that would want to do this.
