  • How do I install the latest version of Firefox on my Acer Aspire One running Linpus Linux Lite?

I have an Acer Aspire One Netbook. It runs "Linpus Linux Lite" OS. It came with Forefox 2 installed. I have searched the web for advice on how to upgrade to Firefox 3.5.
I had a go at it, I have now lost Firefox 2, but failed to install a later version.
Can someone tell me how t0 get either Firefox 2 back, or better still, unstall Firefox 3.5?
I should say that I'm a novice so I need really basic instructions.
If this plea for help doesn't work, I'll take my netbook to my local PC chap & ask for Windows to be installed on it!
    Thanks.

  • Can't boot Arch from USB on Acer Aspire One...

    Hi All,
New to the forums, relatively new to Linux. I've tried several distros including #!, U/K/Xubuntu, Mint, Kuki, Puppy and Wolvix. However none of them, except maybe Mint, have played very nicely with my Acer Aspire One netbook. Even Kuki was a bit of a disaster, though I liked the Midori browser, first time I'd used it was under Kuki.
Intro aside, I want to try Arch. I am not scared of a bit of hands-on work via CLI, although am certainly no expert when it comes to CLI & Linux!
The problem is, I created a USB install for the latest 32bit version of Arch using Unetbootin (I tried both under Windows and Linux, creating USB live sticks with both). However when I try to boot from USB, all goes well until just after a message during the boot process appears. I forget off the top of my head what the error message says, though it appears after successfully waiting 30 seconds to discover a SCSI drive (or something along those lines).
The error has nothing to do with the drive, it's related to the step in the boot process that comes after that. Whatever the message is (I'm at work so cannot access logs or anything right now) it ends up asking me to resolve from a CLI prompt, which then leaves me with a prompt dialog, or to restart and try again.
Nothing seems to work so I am not sure what I am doing wrong or if it might be a bug with Unetbootin or a bug with the latest version of Arch? Or simply a good old fashioned ID10T error?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks! I'll mark this as an ID10T error for now then. I'll give the USB install image a try tonight. On a side note, does Arch come with Skype pre-installed and if not, is it relatively simple to install a la the *.deb package install?

  • Has anyone figured out how to scan from an HP officejet Pro 8600 after upgrading to OS 10.9.4

Has anyone figured out how to scan to  a MacBook Pro with 10.9.4 from HP officejet Pro 8600?

iMovie acts as it does, I suspect, because it's so much safer (and easier) to program.
As iMovie is now structured, each clip has a startFrame and an endFrame. They show the starting point and ending point of that clip in its source file. There's only one of each. Simple.
For us to remove a portion of the middle without splitting the clip in two, iMovie would have to allow each clip to have multiple start/end points. So iMovie would have to "remember" that the clip starts playing at frame 100, stops at frame 120, starts again at frame 150, stops at frame 200, and so on. Very complicated.
The amount of data that would be required to undo a change, for example, could become quite large, and be very, very complicated. Lots of opportunity for errors. Imagine what iMovie would have to "remember" if we could remove the middle, added a title to the clip, remove part of the title, then split the clip and applied a slow motion effect to the second part of the split.
This way is simpler, and not all that inconvenient for users, in my opinion. I prefer simple when it adds to reliability.

How do I scan from HP Officejet 6600 to ePrint

    Hello meanvgreen,
ePrint is not a service that you can scan to.  If you are referring to the ePrint Home and Biz app, it  can be used to scan, but only to iOS devices.  You can find out more information about it here.  If you just want to scan to your computer, let me know what kind of printer you have and I can find the instructions for you.

    Hi mehaem,
If you're running a Windows based PC, open up the solution center icon that should've been created when you installed the software. Within this application, you should have the ability to scan.
If you're running a MAC OS X based machine, within the applications drawer, in the Hewlett-Packard folder, there is an application called HP Scan. You can execute a scan operation from this application.
    Hope this helps!

  • Scanning from my Officejet 6700 premium printer to a mac 10.9.3 wirelessly

    Hello,
My new printer is connected wireless to my network.  I can print and scan from the computer fine, but can't scan from printer to computer.
I tried going into the HP Utility folder to confirm the Scan Settings, but all I can do is scan from the computer. It doesn't give me another option.
I have an HP Office 6700 Premium trying to scan to my (new) Mac OS 10.9.3
    Please help

    Hi there hbetz,
I saw your post about how you are able to scan from the computer however, cannot scan from the printers front panel to your computer. Sometimes the connection is interrupted when the computer or printer or even router disconnects or falls into a sleep mode.
Here is a suggestion for you to try:
Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system
    Repair disk permissions
Re-add the printer back (not the AirPrint driver)
I hope that helps you, have a great weekend
