How to scan photos in jpg in windows 8 instead of pdf

I had Windows Vista with photo gallery. Now i have Windows 8 with no photo gallery, but photos in a different format(they say photo gallery is not compatible with windows 8). I used to scan pictures and documents and they were saved in jpg. Now they are saved in pdf and cannot be saved to jpg. Also have cannon printer MG2220. I started to download something, then decided to delete it when it said it wanted to change the hard drive somehow...
Any ideas how to convert the pdfs to jpgs or to reset the thing somehow? Stuff I have read on here is for Windows 7 or XP with photo gallery (which I don't have..or at least I don't think that is the name of it..). donna

  • How to scan photos to computer

How do I scan photos to the computer so that they show as a photo image?  When I scan a photo, the printer does not recognize the edge of the photo.  Instead it scans the entire glass and shows me a photo in the corner of a large white document.

    Hi,
Probably it is not smart enough therefore we have to tell it by select from a pull down windows from the menu:

  • How to scan photo on hp deskjet 1055

I am trying to scan a photo into my laptop, and I have never used this feature before on my hp deskjet 1055 Printer/Scanner, there is no button to press to scan as opposed to printing . . . Am I missing something?

Sounds like you need to scan. Have you tried using the software on the computer? There should be an icon for the pritner or a folder in your start menu for accessing the software. Under Scanner Actions you should be able to use this feature.

I went to scan photos with new iMac OS X Lion and it says "You can't open the application Epson Scan because Power PC applications are no longer supported."  What can I do to support them?

carterfromva similarly has many Epson problems with Lion, but needs Rosetta.
Consider using Snow Leopard (and Rosetta) in Parallels 7 in Lion:

  • How to scan photos

I have a new iMac I use with an HP 6180 Photosmart All-in-One. I've downloaded the driver update and can scan to the Mac however I am looking for a way to have the scanned images go directly to a folder rather than first to an app such as Preview or iPhoto. In other words like is done in Windows. I find no setting to make that happen but have found things within the scanner set up that seem to suggest that specifying a destination non app file is possible. However when I then scan I get an error message saying saving was not possible. Any suggestions?

It sounds like I cannot save directly to a file which if true is livable although a bit slow when scanning a large number of files. I did find the view first then save procedure on my own but was hoping to skip the view (because I already viewed it in scan preview.)
I'm also a bit confused by how iPhoto works. When I "import" photos from my hard drive to iPhoto am I not just creating link between iPhoto and wherever the images are stored or am I making a duplicate in some iPhoto storage file? I assumed it was just a link and when I scanned I thought the new image would go directly to the file with all my other photos. When I saw that wasn't happening I became concerned about where they really were. I still don't know but will just get in the habit of "saving to" after each scan.

  • How to copy photos from iphoto to windows hard drive

I wanna back up my iphoto to windows hard drive.
    thanks.

I share the Mac iPhotos folder \\COUNTERPWN\Pictures\iPhoto Library.photolibrary\Masters and create a shortcut on my windows desktop. If you want you can use Microsoft Synctoy and run it whenever you want to back them up. Kind of reverse order, instead of going from Mac to Windows to backup, go from Windows to Mac and back again. lol hope that made sense.
Just make sure you have File Sharing selected and Windows Sharing on in prefrence for you iPhoto folder.

  • How to scan a specific folder for the existance of a PDF before saving

I created a folder level function for saving a file by passing it a name and a path.  The problem is I don't want to allow the user to overwrite a file of the same name.  I would rather want to append a version number to it's name so I can keep track of the evolution of the form.
I'm thinking about a script to scan the folder for the occurrence of a file and returns something or throws an error.  I experimented with app.browseForDoc() but I don't want the dialog box to show.
I would use a do/while loop to appends a version number and then look for the file until I get a specific return value or error indicating that the file is not present (or in my case that the name is not already used).

I think I have just the answer, I still need to try it though.  I forgot about prompting the user for appending version numbers because it would mean he'd have to cancel a bPromptToOverwrite box for each version present in the folder.  That's way too many boxes.
    BUT....;o)
I needed a way to prevent overwriting which is the first concern.  What I'm looking for is a way to:
    1-stop my save script before overwiting;
    2-Append version number if script stops and launch save script again;
One way to stop the script is when an error is thrown.  I'm thinking about saving the file as a copy with the bCopy parameter and adding a DOS script to the folder that would monitor in real time the attributes of all files and turn it to read-Only.  That way, if I run my save function and reader tries to overwrite a file, it will throw an error.  I will modify my save function to return a boolean named successfulSave.  Using a try/catch handler, I will append a version number to the file name and call the save function again.  I will encapsulate this in a do/while loop until successfullSave is true.

  • Right Click jpg from Windows Explorer Convert to pdf page size issue

I'm running Acrobat 8 Standard and trying to figure out what controls the page size when you right click and select convert to pdf on a jpg file.  I've got several jpg files of all shapes and sizes and no matter what I try the pdf is always Letter Landscape.  If I use File - Create PDF - From File within Acrobat then the pdf retains the size of the original jpg and that is what I want the right click to do.

I wanted to add a little more detail.  Using the right click convert to pdf on any jpg results in a pdf that is landscape letter.  If the jpg is smaller than the page it is scaled up but if it bigger then it gets cropped.  I can open the same files from inside Acrobat and they convert without a problem.  Any thoughts on what controls the conversion process whenever using the right click feature on a jpg file?

  • How do I get my HP 7525 scanned photos to show up in my Windows Photo Gallery?

When I scan photos on my HP 7525, they show up in Documents on my Dell PC. I want them in my Windows Photo Gallery. How can I make make this happen? My PC is connected to the printer with a USB cable.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

I don't have a windows photo gallery on my PC (I'm running Windows 7).
I pulled the following from the Microsoft help page:
When I import pictures and videos from my camera, how do I change where they are saved and what they are named?
By default, all pictures and videos are saved to the Pictures folder in a folder named for the current date and the tag you assign to the pictures when they’re imported. Each picture is given a name that includes the tag. To change the way your pictures and videos are saved to your computer, do the following:
Open Windows Photo Gallery by clicking the Start button , clicking All Programs, and then clicking Windows Photo Gallery.
Click the File menu, and then click Options.
Click the Import tab, and then do one of the following:
Click Browse to change the folder that pictures and videos are copied to.
Click the Folder Name list to name the folder using other elements, such as the range of dates in which the pictures were taken. You can add several items together to create a more descriptive folder name.
Click the File Name list to change the information that is used to create the picture's file name.
When you are finished making changes, click OK.

I have a hp envy 5660.  I often have to scan multiple photos and on my old printer it would show them as individual files on the scan page.  I can't figure out how to do that with this printer.  I want to scan multiple photos, have them save as individual phhotos so I can print them out on 4 x 6 photo paper.  Any ideas? Thanks!

    Hi @bird22557,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I noticed that you are wondering how to scan multiple photos into separate files with your HP Envy 5660 printer on Windows 7. I am happy to look into this scanning issue for you!
I would recommend to go through this how to scan guide, Scan from Windows 7 With the Full Feature HP Software for HP Multifunction Printers, you can try with HP software or without HP software. As there are multiple ways of scanning.
For future reference, here is your printer's user guide as well, HP ENVY 5660 e-All-in-One Printer User guides.
