How to scan to specific folder on Mac desktop

I don't like any of the choices for scanning to computer because I want to scan NOT to Desktop (or Documents) but rather to specific folder on Desktop, specifically "xScanned Docs ƒ." How to I poke the buttons on the Scan interface to signal this command?

Hey @fsnedeker,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I would like to assist you today with altering your Scan To folder options when scanning from your HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer to your Mac OS X 10.10 computer. Can I please have you follow the steps below.
1. Click on Apple and select System Preferences
2. Click Print & Scan
3. Select your printer on the left and select Options & Supplies
4. Click the Utility tab. Select Open Printer Utility.
5. Under the Scan Settings section select Scan to Computer
6. Click on Edit Scan Tasks
7. A list of Scan to Computer shortcuts will now open
8. Select either Save as Jpeg or Save as PDF. Whichever one you would like to alter the folder for. Next, Select Edit.
9. Under the Move Finder Items section, alter the 'To:' folder to whatever folder you actually want your scans to go to
10. Once the  folder has been selected, click on OK to save the changes.
Now when you scan your items they should save in the new folder location you have just configured.
Please let me know if these steps resolve your issue. Best of luck!

  • How to scan a specific folder for the existance of a PDF before saving

I created a folder level function for saving a file by passing it a name and a path.  The problem is I don't want to allow the user to overwrite a file of the same name.  I would rather want to append a version number to it's name so I can keep track of the evolution of the form.
I'm thinking about a script to scan the folder for the occurrence of a file and returns something or throws an error.  I experimented with app.browseForDoc() but I don't want the dialog box to show.
I would use a do/while loop to appends a version number and then look for the file until I get a specific return value or error indicating that the file is not present (or in my case that the name is not already used).

I think I have just the answer, I still need to try it though.  I forgot about prompting the user for appending version numbers because it would mean he'd have to cancel a bPromptToOverwrite box for each version present in the folder.  That's way too many boxes.
    BUT....;o)
I needed a way to prevent overwriting which is the first concern.  What I'm looking for is a way to:
    1-stop my save script before overwiting;
    2-Append version number if script stops and launch save script again;
One way to stop the script is when an error is thrown.  I'm thinking about saving the file as a copy with the bCopy parameter and adding a DOS script to the folder that would monitor in real time the attributes of all files and turn it to read-Only.  That way, if I run my save function and reader tries to overwrite a file, it will throw an error.  I will modify my save function to return a boolean named successfulSave.  Using a try/catch handler, I will append a version number to the file name and call the save function again.  I will encapsulate this in a do/while loop until successfullSave is true.

  • What is the best way to share a specific folder between macs????

Hello, I would like to share a specific folder between macs, heres what I need to do:
    1) share one folder that resides in my home folder
    2) the other mac should be able to view it without any login information (no password etc)
How? What is the best way?

Rick, are you saying that if you try to share a folder outside of home and use sharepoints, then the other mac wont prompt you to log in? Have you tried that? It is hard to believe that is the case
I am sort of saying that. Have you tried it? I know it's hard to believe, but you really need to help us out by trying some steps that you don't believe.
We can't see what your exact situation is. We sort of know what's worked for us out here. Just trying to help you get this going in less than 24 hours!
Sharepoints manages the samba configuration file. It's free software that puts a pretty face on an otherwise cumbersome config file.
    Give it a shot.
windows will not prompt for passwords, I have tried this with multiple computer at home for both vista and xp
As I stated. You will not get prompted on windows, if you have set up sharing in an insecure fashion. You are not using a secured sharing situation.
    No argument with your statement.

How To Unhide the Library Folder in Mac OS X Lion

How do you unhide in a Time Machine File?
What are you trying to do?
If in the Time Machine interface you wish to restore something in your Library, type cmd-shift-g, then type ~/Library into the path field and hit Go.
If you are browsing the Time Machine backup using the Finder, I hope you never wanted to use that backup again as you are more than likely going to corrupt it to the point of it not working any longer. If that is the case, you can do the same thing with the Go to Folder command above, just use the full path to where your backup is mounted. The easy way to find the path would be to open another Finder window and navigate to your home folder on the backup. Drag that home folder to an empty Go to Folder path field and it will fill in the full path, then add /Library on the end.

  • How to open the specific folder view with JS

    Hi,
Maybe very simple thing, but I don´t know how to "open" the view to an excisting folder like "Macintosh HD/MyDocs/This_Folder" ?
    Thanks in advance!

I found the answer myself. It was this what was missing (to choose the specific folder).
    eg.
    app.browseTo(Folder("/Macintosh HD/MyFolder/"));

  • How to Open a Specific Folder in the Finder via Shortcut Key

I'm sure this has been covered elsewhere, so sorry for not finding it...
Is it possible to assign a shortcut key to open a specific folder with Automator or AppleScript? There are 4-5 commonly used folders buried 10-11 levels deep on a server and I'd love to have a shortcut key to open those particular folders in the Finder.
Could you give me some assistance?
    Thanks!

QuickKeys may work, or you can look on http://www.versiontracker.com or http://www.macupdate.com for other alternatives.
Another option is to create aliases to those folders and store the aliases in a local folder which you can place on your Dock, the Finder window sidebar or toolbar.

  • How do I screen grab a specific folder on the desktop?

I want to screen grab a specific object on the desktop by using command+shift+4 and then spacebar so that the result would be an image file with transparent background.
When I try to use the grab function on the desktop, it highlights the entire desktop, thus not allowing me to select anything in particular i.e a file icon. The same happens in Finder, where it selects the entire window.
I swear I used to be able to do this, has this feature been discontinued since Yosemite?
I would simply just use command+shift+4, then select around the icon I'd like, but I want the icon to have a transparent background as I'm using it in web design and don't want to spend hours removing parts of my desktop from it on Photoshop.
Any suggestions anyone? Perhaps there's another way to do it that I haven't thought of?
    Thanks!

Thanks Niel, that's close to what I need, however, I'd like the text underneath it like it is on a desktop.
I suppose it could be recreated in Photoshop, is there no way to specifically screenshot objects on a desktop?

  • How to boot to Windows XP from Mac Desktop

    Hi
I have just installed Lepard/BootCamp/Windows XP and am wondering how to get to Windows from Mac when I'm logged on to Mac. I can access it via System Preferences but end up resetting my start up preferences to Windows in order to reboot from there. When I installed Windows it put a folder on my Mac Desktop that has the windows info -- does anyone know how to quickly reboot to Windows? On the XP side, there is a boot camp icon in system tray that allows you to choose to boot over to Mac from there. But not on the Mac side. Apple Tech Support told me there must be an easier way than going through the Sys Pref startup options but he was unable to find it. Suggested I try here. Any hep appreciated!

I know about the Option key ... when I power on the computer and hold that down, it gives me the option to choose one OS or the other, instead of going to the one I've set in Sys Pref startup ...
My question is when I have the Mac OS running and want to go to Windows ... the only way I seem to be able to do it is go back into Sys Pref and change the startup OS to windows. It will then give me the option to restart and go there right now, which will get me into Windows but at the cost of resetting the preferred startup OS.
On the Windows side there is the option to set the start up OS as well, so maybe that's the key? I wondered why you would need to set it on both sides, or have the ability. Maybe that's it! There has to be a better way to go from Mac to Windows than via the Sys Pref option.

  • How do I share a folder on mac mini with other macs in the network?

    Howdy all!
The scenario I have in mind is that I have one folder in our Mac Mini (used as Home Theater) with all the family's music files on it. The rest of the family would be able to access the folder and copy the music they prefer onto their own computers (iMacs and Macbooks). The other computers would have read only access, they would not be able to alter the contents of the original file (to prevent accidental deletion). Only the user of the Mini Home Theater could alter the contents of said file.
I have tried pulling up the "Get Info" window and clicking the "Shared Folder" and "Locked" boxes, but all this seems to do is make the user of the Mac Mini unable to alter the contents of the folder. All the other macs on the network can access and alter the folder contents no problem.
    What am I missing?
Thank you for any advice you can give!

This isn't quite what I was looking for. I don't want to share the folder with users on the same computer--I want to share the folder with users on other computers.
Unless there is some way to identify users on other computers. How can I do that?

  • How to access a specific folder in my catalog which doesn't appear in my library?

Hi, I'm trying to access a folder that I've previously imported and classified in my catalog.
I don't see it in my library module (but I do see it in through my cpu's finder window).
What would be the best way to 'retrieve' them and work with them.
    Thank you.

Most likely, you (accidentally) imported those photos into another folder, that's why you can't see the desired folder in Lightroom.
You can find the name of one of these photos in Finder, and then do a search for it in Lightroom, and then right-click on the photo in Lightroom and select "Go To Folder in Library". Before you do the search, click on All Photoghraphs in the Catalog Panel and turn off all Filters (Ctrl/Cmd-L once or twice)

  • How to display a specific folder item ?

    Hi,
Having the item id, how can we display the content of that item in a page/portlet ?

    Alvaro,
Maybe the item source type could be SQL Query and the query would be: select seq.nextval from dual. Or you could have a before-header page computation do the same thing for the item.

  • How to upload multiple files/folder from Mac Lion?

I am trying to upload my Indesign folder (containing indesign, fonts, links, etc.) to my printer's site, but the upload won't take the links and fonts. I have a large Imac Lion/desktop.  They say to use the "hot keys" but can't find out what those are.  The shift key, not the command key will do it either. Thanks.

Thanks.  I tried that as well--it wouldn't take the zip either.  Went ahead and burned a cd and delivered by hand.
PS:  Not sure why the question has "Imac indigo" at the end there--I have a new Imac Intel large screen/4 GB and I love it.

Is "transfer" nondestructive (copy) or destructive (move/delete) from your rMBP to the external USB.
Are you using the Finder, or Terminal commands for this process?
Is the external USB device formatted as either FAT or HFS+?
If you receive error messages, can you share them here?

  • How do you make the toolbar larger, mac desktop?

Can anyone tell me how to make my toolbar, at the top of the display, larger? it is very tiny. I'm visually impaired. there doesn't seem to be any accessability program on the mac. I'm used to a full accessability program on windows can anyone help me reprogram the display. meaning specifically the font. we did it before on our ancient mac.. thanks for your help.

You would have to lower the display resolution to increase the size of the screen menubar. Some system fonts can be changed using TinkerTool. Other tools you can use are found in the Accessibility preferences.
