How to scan with hp officejet 4500

How to use the hp officejet 4500

Hey @Eben61 ,
Thanks a lot for the question, now lets get you an answer!
I understand that you are looking to learn how to scan on your HP Officejet 4500.
So that I am able to further assist you with this I need you to let me know which operating system you are using and how you have the printer and the computer connected
1. What Operating System are you using? Press the link to find out, in case you don't know already. http://whatsmyos.com/
2. Is the printer connected via a Wireless connection or a USB connection?
Look forward to hearing back from you.
I worked for HP.

My cups says at http://localhost:631/printers/HP_Officejet_4500_G510g-m this:
    HP_Officejet_4500_G510g-m
HP_Officejet_4500_G510g-m (Idle, Accepting Jobs, Not Shared)
    Description: HP Officejet 4500 G510g-m

supplied tarball has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.

In reality I couldn't print either. Not sure what really fixed it, but it seemed that adding hpoj from AUR and rebooting did it. I then readded the printer and now all works.

  • Problems Scanning with HP Officejet 4500

I am trying to scan a doc with my 4500.  Everything seems to be going fine: i have marked it "Save to Doc," I see a preview on my computer, but when i hit finish no file is created in My Scans.  Could this be because the "Scan To:" field in "Scan Options" is blank?  Any suggestions welcome.

Have you tried reoving a cartaridge and putting it back in? Any time you put in a new cartaridge, the printer prints a page you should scan that will align the printer.

how to scan  with a hp 85000pro

    Hi SanMiguel,
    Welcome to the HP Forum!
To do the job (scan) effectively, you should install the Full Feature Software for your printer onto your computer.  The FFS contains the HP Solution Center which, in turn, controls the Scan function and all its features.  Scan "how-to" help is outlined in the printer's manual starting around page 51.
If you do not (or cannot) install the FFS, you can try using "Webscan" as outlined in the Printer's manual, starting on page 53:
    OFFICEJET PRO 8500 User Guide
The download size for the Software can be large, so plan accordingly.  That is, if your internet speed is slow, plan on downloading the installation file when you are not doing a lot of other activities.
Here are the instructions to look for and install the software for your printer.
In many cases, you can (re)install the Full Feature Software for your printer to enhance its capabilities.  The HP Solution Center is an integrated part of the FFS.
(Re)install the basic driver or Full Feature Software:
Drivers control hardware connected to the computer (wired or wireless).
Software controls the programs that interact with the User.
Go to the top of the forum page to Support and Drivers
Enter your Printer Model information, and then go to Software and Drivers...
Enter your Operating System in the Drop-down menu...  Scroll down
Look for category Driver - Product Installation Software
Select the appropriate Basic Driver or Full Feature Software – if available for your printer Save the *.exe installation package on your computer -
NOTE the name and the location of the file when you save it.  The *.exe file will likely save to the "Downloads“ folder.
Install the Software / Driver installation package.  If you have ‘Admin’ control, you may highlight the package and “double-click” to install it, else Right-Click, Select ‘run as Administrator’ and install.
NOTE:  There is sometimes a lot of information at the printer’s website manuals, how-to pages, and alerts for your printer.  Be sure to take an extended look at what’s available.

    I hope this helps!

    Hi midandco,
I would suggest deleting the printer from your print system, using this document: Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once you have deleted it, I would suggest verifying and repairing the disk permissions: About Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions feature.
I would also suggest running your Apple updates:  OS X: Updating OS X and Mac App Store apps
After the updates, I would recommend readding the printer with theOS X v10.9 Mavericks: Installing and Using the Printer on a Mac.

  • I am trying to scan a document with my officejet 4500?

is anyone can help me?i am trying to scan a document to my officejet 4500 ..but the printer panel said; No scan options.Refer to device documentation to trouble shoot?what is that mean?what should i do?

Hello everyone, I was having this exact issue myself, and after finding no help whatsoever from the manual that comes with the device itsself, there is no mention of scanning in it at all, I played around with it myself. GO to the HP solutions center icon that is on your computer, click on that, go to scan picture or document, whichever it is that you are trying to scan, and all the options for scanning will come up and you will be able to scan without problems. Documents and pictures will be saved to your computer if that is what you choose as well as this is what I was trying to do, and you do not have to use the document feeder. I have read everything else on here and tried it all and none of it works, this does work. I tried it several different times before typing this post.

  • Link to Windows 8.1 Printer (Fax, Copy and Scan) Drivers for OfficeJet 4500 G510n-z

    Hello:
Need to know where I can find updated drivers for my OfficeJet 4500 G510n-z printer.   I am using Windows 8.1 operating system.
I have tried using the link at HP, but at the point that it supposedly gets to the install window, it asks me to insert the disc that came with the printer.  When I do that, I still get an error message saying something like "the link cannot be found."  I also get another message at some pont indicating that the full version needs to be uploaded.  Then, the same process starts all over again.   I should add that the printer disc says that it is compatible with XP, Windows 7 and other earlier versions, but not 8 or 8.1
I have tried this 6 or 7 times with the same result.  Dell (the company from which I bought the laptop) was useless and suggested I contact HP.
I can no longer scan, either, because the computer isn't recognzing that the printer has a scan function, so when I go to use PaperPort 12 to scan stuff, it doesn't recognize that a printer is attached.
Any help resolving these problems would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
