How to schedule File adapter in XI 3.0 SPS 15

Hi All,
I have searched several forums , but not able to find it.
I have a scenario were i need to schedule the file adapter .
as i am using XI 3.0 SPS 15 there is no ATP option in RWB.
Can anybody please share the step by step procedure of how to schedule the adapter in XI 3.0?

Hey Kishore,
In order to create a structure you need to use the file with convertion mode on the sending communication channel of the file adapter.
check the link for the needed configuration paramters.
If the structure is more complexed you can use the Contetnt master(CM) from itemfield which allows to ceate XML file from complex flat files and more.

Schedule file adapter

Hi All,
 Is it possible to Schedule file adapter without using BPM.
 Ex for same scenario:
 file 1
 field 1 = 'a'
 file 2
 field 1 = 'b'
I want to post 'file 2' only after 'file 1' successfully posted in SAP.
If 'file 1' not posted successfully then 'file 2' will not post and wait in XI for 'file 1'.
Note:Thease two file's using same Message Type in SAP, i.e. both are belong's to same scenario's.

Scheduling File Adapter

We are collecting IDOCs in the Application system . We want to trigger this file everyday at NOON.
Should the Trigger point should be in R/3 or it should be in XI? I am using a sender File Adapter and we are on SP19.

How are you going to get this message into XI ? Is it IDOC >XI>File Scenario..
or you have the out put file located in the SAP system with Multiple IDocs. Now you need to transfer this file into reciever via XI.
anyway as per the last statement you are using Sender File Adapeter. SO you need to schedule this in XI . For this you can go to RWB>Component Monitoring>Adapter Engine>Communication Channel Monitioring>Choose your channel and go with Automatic option. This is the concept of Availability Time for the Adapters.In this way you can schedule the Sender File Adapter

How to use File Adapter Receiver to write attachments

Hi,
i have a scenario, in which our own XInotes adapter sends an XIMessage from an IBM Lotus Notes database into XI. This XIMessage contains an XML document as application main document and several PDF files as additional attachments
On the receiver side, i must use a File Adapter to write both the XML documents and the PDF attachments into a directory.
The problem is i don't know how to use the file adapter receiver to write the attachments. In the Channel Monitoring, i can see that all PDF files are transferred to the file receiver. But the file adapter writes only the XML document into the directory.
I've also tried the AF_Modules/PayloadSwapBean, but it can only swap one PDF file into the application payload. And the file name must be hard coded in the module configuration as swap.KeyName.
Could anyone give me any ideas?

hi,
receiver file adapters do not supprt attachments.
Only File Sender adapter is capable of handling attachments not the receiver.

Configuring the sender FILE adapter
The sender file adapter is configured to pick the normal payload (file1.xml), which is specified in the File
access parameters, and the additional image file (file1.jpg) that is to be sent as an attachment is configured
under the Additional File(s) as shown in the screenshot below. The file type would still remain binary.
Since, by default, XI sends payload and attachments in XML format, we need to call two beans, namely the
MessageTransformBean and the PayloadSwapBean to help us is transforming the content to jpeg format
and also change the file extension.
The PayloadSwapBean module is used to replace the application payload of the XI message that holds the
data with another payload which is appended to the message as an attachment. In our case, the payload
would be file1.xml whereas the attachment would be file1.jpg
The swap module is denoted in our scenario with the module key swap. It has two parameters from the
MIME header.

There are two ways to use the Os command in the file adapter.
Lets talk about the sender File Adapter.
First: Run operative system Before Message Processing
Whenever any operation needs to be performed uppon the source file Just before XI picks it up.
e.g. Calculate any hash code, backup the file to a given location, create a log at os level, etc...
... After Message Processing
After Xi has processed the message, you can trigger a new os level command:
e.g. Trigger a mail, check if the archiving was successful, etc.

The file adapter it consists many operations like
1: Read
2:Write
3:Synchronous Read
4:ListFiles
So you are asking about Read operation
First you take one File Adapter-->Select Read Operation--->Give Incomming file Location ( In local system you can give like C:/temp/NewDir Or Unix Envornment like you can give /temp/NewDir)
After that you can give file Name like wich format it's incomming file name like CSV.txt or CSV.xml after you give Polling Intervels second or Mintued or Hour.You can select Native format or Define service Later once configure all those things the file adapter configration is done . How to test File Adapter from EM Console

Hi All,
I have one issue with File Adapter where I am trying to implement a simple BPEL process. Below are the steps;
1. I have created an empty BPEL process and then add a read file adapter to the left side which will read from a file aa.txt which is present in D:\work folder. File is having data like XXXX,YYYY,ZZZZ. (I have used Native builder for schema generation)
2. Then I have added Write file adapter on the right side which will write to an other file bb.txt.
Then I have rebuild and deploy this on weblogic SOA server but on the EM console I am not able to test it as Test button is disabled. Then how to test this scenario? Also I tried testing by placing a new file aa1.txt in the same directory with some content. Logically it should be picked up and then write it to the bb.txt but it is not happening.
Can anyone please help me in this as how to troubleshoot it.

So if i understood correctly it means that we cannot test it using EM console as we have read adapter on the left side because of which we have not exposed it as SOAP service. When we put any file in the D:\XXX then automatically read adapter will pick that up and create one instance in the EM console and then write adapter will write it into the destination file?
But in our case no instance is getting created in the EM console even when I am copying a file to the directory. Below is the read_file.jca

How to: Sender File Adapter to dinamically read all subfolders of a folder

Here is the scenario:
-Interface: A file to file interface.
-Objective: The idea is to move files from a file server to another file server.
-Master Source Folder: ...\OUTPUT\
-Master Destination Folder: .....\INPUT\
Interface example
-Source Folder: ...\OUTPUT\INTERFACE1
-Destination Folder: .....\INPUT\INTERFACE1
The idea is that the PI interface must read all the subfolders inside ..\OUTPUT\ and then move the files found to the corresponding folder in the target.
What we want to achive is to be able to add a new source folder i.e ...\OUTPUT\INTERFACE2 without having to modify the sender File adapter.
Actual status: Dynamic determination of the destination folder is already done, but source folders are statically defined in the sender file adapter.
Can this be done? Perhaps using a Bean Module or something?

This is great! In the off chance anyone else is trying to do this, this is also useful if you have Papers and you want to switch to Mendeley. Papers keeps PDFs all organized by year and then author so the PDFs are all nested in subfolders. If you option-click the triangle next to the Papers folder, it will then show all the PDFs. Select All and then drag over the whole thing into Mendeley. I just imported my entire collection in under a minute. Glad I looked this up!

I am configuring a File Adapter manually then it generates WSDL file and jca files which contains File Adapter configuration. I have XSd file through the XSD can I generate these files (WSDL & jca)?

How to use File Adapter to transport files

Can i use File Adapter Additional Files settings to Transfer files from one system to other without conversion?
File Adapter's Additional Files documentation says "additional attachments require a receiver that can process them". In my case receiver is also
File Adapter.

Notice in "Rules for Additional Files":
"Messages with additional attachments require a receiver that can process them."
Currently, the receiver file adapter does not support the processing of attachments.

How to schedule file/data removal from HD

Hi
I have a lab with 15 stations. Multiple users (many) log in, authenticate against an AD database and automatically create a user account.
I want to remove all their data at the end of each week (other than the data in a local admin account). The user accounts can stay, but HD space must be recovered regularly.
If anyone can point me towards the best approach for this I'd really appreciate it! (utility, script etc...)

I'm not real familiar with lab situations, but here's what I did on an Xserve at work: The Art Dept. wanted a place on the Xserve's RAID drives where editors could put and get Quicktime Movies, graphics, etc. But the editors are notorious for never cleaning up after themselves.
So, what I did was to create the editors' account on the Xserve's HD, but then I used Mike Bombich's instructions for moving the home folder for a user to move the editors' account's folder onto the RAID.
When I was done setting that up, I had a pristine copy of the editors' home folder on the Xserve's hard drive. As part of the weekly mtce jobs, I wrote a short shell script the deleted the editors' folder on the RAID, then copies over the original home folder from the Xserve's HD. It's been going like this for a couple of years now without problems.
I don't know if that would apply to your situation or not, though...

You mean to say due to some error , if the file fails to get picked ?
Then you can create AlertCategory and alert rule for corresponding interface to raise an alert on such an error.
