How to search for a bookmark (Mountain Lion on Mac)

I have imported my large list of bookmarks from the browser that I used to use into Safari. Previously, I could go to 'manage bookmarks' and type in a word or two to find the relevant bookmark(s). I cannot find anything equivalent in Safari, and should be most grateful for advice.

Michael ..
Safari has it's share of glitches and sometimes requires a tweak or two... there's usually more than one way to get a job done. Glad dominic23popped in with an alternative.

  • How to search for perticular Bookmark present in many word files at once

    Hi all,
We have templates created through Word 2003. We have created the Bookmarks in that some are fetched from database and others are from a XML file, through the code.
We do Alt+i+k and the list of bookmarks present in that template appears.
So, If I want to search for suppose a bookmark named 'GC_F_faxnumber' which is bookmark for fax number, I need to go through alll templates (there are about 500 template) one by one and then find it out.
I need this work to be done ASAP. Could you please help me in how do I find out a bookmark in number of word files or templates the bookmark is located and in which all templates it is present.
    Thanks in advance.:)

    Hi,
For this requirement, I think you need to iterate to open these files and use
Bookmarks.Exists method to check whether the specify bookmark is exist or not.

  • How to reformat for bootcamp on mountain lion?

So i have a late 2010 macbook pro 15" that was recently upgraded to mountain lion and i have been trying to boot camp it for the purpose of playing windows games, however i have run into a myriad of problems in my attempts to.
Firstly, when trying to partition the bootcamp program tells me the same old "cannot partition because some files cannot be moved" error, which i have searched and found that it requires me to reformat my harddrive.
    Seems simple enough.
However when trying to boot into the disk utility on startup by holding down the option keys (or the x key, or both) it has not let me and boots straight into my mac os as if i wasnt holding the keys down at all.
This is one of my main problems, my fear is that if i cannot boot into disk utility on startup, i may not be able to even switch back to my mac os if i am succsesful in bootcamp.
Does anyone know what this means?
Furthermore, as i am still debating whether to go through with this or not, i have purchased i defrag and might try to defragment the drive from there if at all possible
Any and all help from here would be greatly appreciated as it seems no one has experienced all of the problems i have in the same attempt
    thanks

The Reset feature adds a folder on your desktop named Old Firefox Data. I recommend hanging onto that for a few weeks in case you discover something essential that the Reset feature left behind.

  • HT3748 since upgrading to Mountain Lion, my Mac Mail no longer works well w/exchange email; so, I have had to switch back to outlook. Now, how can I use outlook for mac's calendar and contacts with icloud?

Since uprgading to Mountain Lion, my mac mail no longer works with my exchange email properly. I finally gave up and moved back to outlook for mac, but now my new issue is using outlook calendar and contacts with icloud; possible?

Sorry but I'm really not to sure what I have. I'm not good with knowing my computer model. All I know is that its a MacBook running with Leopard. I got my computer last year so I suppose its fairly new. Is there a place on my computer where I can check to see what it is (sorry to be so dumb with my own mac)
And everything else works fine. I love Safari. It's just my mail that doesn't work. Here's the message that pop up several times.
"The MobileMe IMAP server “mail.mac.com” rejected the password for user “akcastaldo”
Please re-enter your password, or cancel."
The only problem here is, even though I enter my password it doesn't do anything. It makes that message go away for about 3-5 mins. After that it pops right back up. And I can't even go into my preference and change my email password. So I don't know what to do.

System Image Utility only makes images of the system it ships with.
In order to make Lion images, you'll need to install the Server Admin Tools for Lion onto a Lion system. You will then find the appropriate System Image Utility in /Applications/Server/.

  • How come, ever since I installed Mountain Lion, my computer is slower???

How come, ever since I installed Mountain Lion, my computer is slower???

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive may be failing.
Launch the usual set of applications you use when you notice the problem.
    Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the page that opens.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
Next, select the Disk Activity tab. What approximate values are shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec?
    Step 2
You must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way as above. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Post the 50 or so most recent messages in the log — the text, please, not a screenshot.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out before posting.

  • How do I print my iCal (Mountain Lion 10.8.5) in 5x7 format?

How do I print my iCal (Mountain Lion 10.8.5) in a 5x7 format? 5x7 is not listed as an option in the print menu.

For custom print sizes, see the software called Clickbooks: http://www.bluesquirrel.com/products/cbmac/
I would ask them if what you want is possible before purchasing.  A customer of mine got it to make many other custom formatted pages.   Don't have them anymore, but they I'm sure could tell you if it is possible.  Be sure to also indicate your printer model.

  • HT3669 I only have a HP printer and why I need to install a file for all the HP printers drivers 590MB??? if normally the size of my file should be 5MB.  some one could me help to avoid installation of 590MB for my new mountain lion software???

    Hi guys..!!
I would like to know if someone could help on this:
I just have a HP printer (HP Designjet 100) and for some reason I need to install a file for all the HP printers drivers in total 590MB to be able to use my printer in my mountain lion???
If normally the size of my files in the for previous software was more or less 5MB why now i need to install 590?
Some one could help me how to avoid installation of 590MB for my new mountain lion software???
    Thanks

If you go to http://support.apple.com/downloads and locate the HP Printer Drivers installer, you will find that it is 473.4 MB (for version 2.11). If you install this, it will install the full set of drivers for every model of HP printer that is supported by the drivers distributed through Apple. The disk space occupied once installed will probably be larger than the download, since the downloaded file is compressed.
On the other hand, if you have an HP printer connected and you use Software Update (or the Update tab in App Store), that should offer you a much smaller set of HP drivers, which are only applicable to your printer (and possibly a few similar ones). These updates are typically only tens of megabytes rather than hundreds of megabytes.
If Software Update doesn't offer you any HP drivers then it either thinks you have the latest drivers installed already, or the printer model is not supported by the drivers available from Apple.
This article lists all of the printer models for which Apple distributes the driver:

my Mac OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard. how to why install OS X Mountain Lion ?

    How?
Upgrading to Mountain Lion - http://www.apple.com/osx/how-to-upgrade
Mac OS X: System requirements for Mountain Lion (10.8) - http://www.apple.com/macosx/specs.html
Lion and Mountain Lion application compatibility - http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
Kappy 08/2012 post on upgrading to Snow Leopard, then Lion or Mountain Lion -  https://discussions.apple.com/message/19401628 - including how to get Snow Leopard and Lion since Apple removed them from the online store.
MacBook upgrade possibilities - https://discussions.apple.com/message/19577869 - "The Early 2006 model 1,1 Core Duo can only run a maximum of 10.6 Snow Leopard. The models Late 2006 Core 2 Duos 2,1 through Early 2008 4,1 can only run a maximum of 10.7 Lion. The Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody through the Mid 2010 White Unibody model 7,1 can run 10.8 Mountain Lion."
Why?  Good question.  I am a strong believer in not upgrading just because something new comes out, especially if you are running older equipment.  I would say unless you see a need for it, just stick with Snow Leopard until something comes along that absolutely requires Mountain Lion.

  • How to uninstall maverick back to mountain lion?

I have instaled maverick but have found that it does not support some programs so wish to revert back to mountin lion.  Is this possible and if it is can you give me a very basic explenation of how to do so.
    Many thanks

Another option too for those (kind of like me) who never did the time machine.
I just restored my computer back to Mountain Lion, and she's working perfect again, as I knew she would. E-mail popping into mailbox instantly as it should and did before the update, printer working fast as it was before update, no more freezing or glitches of any kind thankfully and finally. Here is the link that is through the Apple site to direct you on how to put your system back and get rid of Maverick's, that is assuming that is what you would like to do and also includes link for those wanting to try fixing the issue if that is your preference (most of this info is for those with mountain lion and some with the previousverisoin of OS X lion).
If you want to keep Maverick's here is a good post on the apple discussion board to help you out:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6161
If you just want to totally get rid of it and put back what you had before, this is the short version of how to do so:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3353
NOTE: This particular link has a lot of info on what to do for different situations, it is a bit lengthy, yet still very helpful.

OS X: About OS X Recovery (also from apple support directly and includes some instructions just the same as previous links above):
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718
Just in case you aren't sure what it will all look like as you are doing things, this is a link to show you a few pics of what you will see  as you as you are going through the process, it can be helpful for those who aren't sure what they are doing or how to do things at all:
    http://www.apple.com/osx/recovery/
This is a way to download the Mountain Lion disk info from the server
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1433
I hope this helps someone, it was amazing for me and my system is working perfect again like it was, battery life is way better went from like 3 hours to like 5 (not on full charge by the way, after it sat for a while doing the online update which took a while so that's saying something alone, huge improvement). I plan to wait a while before attempting to reinstall Maverick's, long enough for them to fix the bugs.
