The same way you save ANY email attachment... which is going to depend on the email program you use... so check with support for your email program (or the help file to learn how to save an attachment)
When you OPEN a PDF attachment, what program are you using... Acrobat or Reader... both have options to save files

  • How do I get all the files from the hard drive in non-working Compaq Presario CQ62-411NR

Spilled iced tea into the keyboard of notebook and after drying out it will not power on. If I try a hard restart it is indicated that i would lose all the info in the memory and I can not afford to lose the photos of my mother that are on the hard drive. Is there a way of getting the hard drive to work in some other fashion so that I can get my photos and other files.

  • How do you change the default save as directory when saving a PDF file to your hard drive?

This is the on-line help instructions on this site:
Downloading a PDF file to your hard drive
You can download a PDF file to the hard drive from a web page's link. Downloading PDF files doesn't require the ActiveX plug-in file to be installed. (If you want to open and view the PDF file after downloading it, you must have Acrobat, Adobe Reader, or Acrobat Reader installed.)
To download a PDF file from a link:
    1. Right-click the link to a PDF file, and then choose Save Target As from the pop-up menu.
    2. In the Save As dialog box, select a location on your hard drive, and then click Save.
My issue:  I want to save several pdf files (from the Adobe Reader in my browser) one at a time and each time it defaults the save as directory to the desktop and I have to go looking for the directory I last saved a pdf file in.  I got lots of directories and I wish I could change the default setting for the save as directory.  Just a minor thing but irritating as other programs usually will allow you to switch the default save as directory to one of your choosing.

There is not a way to set the default location from all the forums i searched in the last couple days.

you should never (ab)use a designated backup-setup for 'ordinairy' storage tasks.
plus, the wireless connection to TC is too slow for iMovie.
    purchase any ext. usb-harddrive, 500Gigs starting at 50$ ...

If you want a cross-platform solution that doesn't require the use of third-party software, use an external drive with hardware encryption. The device will have either a physical key or a numeric keypad. I don't have a specific recommendation.

  • How do I open an HTML file from my hard drive?

    Hello FireFox,
I develop applications in JavaScript and need to test them in the three major
browsers including FireFox. In the older version one would click on the FireFox logo and
go to New Page (New Tab?) and then File. Recently downloaded FireFox 30.0 and there
does not seem to be New Page option. I see New Window but it does not give me an option
for opening a file from the hard drive.
    Thanks

    Hi!
There are a few ways to open files in Firefox. The easiest is '''CTRL''' + '''O'''. Another easy option is to click Menu > Open File (if it's not there, you'll have to enter the Customize menu to drag it in).

  • Search iPad for all .PDF files

    Hi,
How can I search my iPad for all the .pdf files that are on it?
    Thank you

    Thanks but that doesn't work.
A .pdf is not a name but a type of file like a picture or a video. It is an extension.
Searching iBooks is not enough as I need to search the whole iPad, including emails, etc.
Surely there has to be a way to search for types of files on an iPad like pictures, video's, presentations, etc.

  • How to search for all files w Metadata mismatch?

    I Upgraded recently from LR2.6 to 3.3.
Many of my images have an Exclamation Mark on them, following the upgrade, informing me that there is a Metadata Mismatch...
When I click on it I get this Dialogue box:
Firstly I think LR developers are playing with potentially important information with a lack of care and consideration. I looked at the metadata in 'File Info' in Photoshop before clicking anything: the creation date was the date the file was created and much of the camera data was missing. After I clicked Overwrite Settings all the original data was back on the file. I have no idea how this came to pass exactly, but it shows metadata is an easily lost thing.
If Adobe care about their customers I would think they would make it more clear what was at stake here!
Secondly I would like to know if there is a way to search for all images with this issue to save me having to go through and do it one by one, possibly thousands of times?

           or     AdditionalMetaData.externalXmpIsDirty     >     0)
        order by    fullFileName
I am not sure what the meaning of different values in column sidecarStatus and externalXmpIsDirty mean. This is what I've found out by trial and error:
sideCarStatus = 1 seems to mean "Settings have changed in Catalog compared to XMP"
sideCarStatus = 7 seems to be OK
externalXmpIsDirty = 1 seems to mean "Settings have changed in XMP compared to Catalog"
    sideCarStatus = 1 AND externalXmpIsDirty = 1seems to be a Metadata Conflict
The meaning of sideCarStatus > 1 is unknown to me
I usually run the query and then look at the single images reported in LR.
IMHO, this metadata matching is one of the weaker points in LR. I have encountered several conflict situations where I can be 100% sure I have not changed anything on the image outside of LR, and I have "Automatically write Changes to XMP" active. So a conflict should never arise.

  • Reader 9.3 produces Runtime error for all .pdf files on hard drive and email

Does anyone have a resource that can show me how to eliminate a runtime error with Reader 9.3.1, Windows XP w/ SP3 and IE7. I have recently had all .pdf files located on my hard drive and in emails refuse to open because of this message:
    "Runtime Error!
    Program C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.  Please contact the application's support team for more information."
So far, I have uninstalled and reinstalled Reader 9.3 from the website; added update 9.3.1 and tried to reopen files with no success.
My organization sends a ton of .pdf files and it is not good when you can't open them for review and action.

    Hi All,
Although I don't normally post in forums, I thought it prudent to lay this matther to rest.  I have tested the following solution:
It appears that Adobe Reader likes to check access to each parent folder as well as the actual application data folder.  Apparantly there are other programs that also do similar things. As a result if you have your appdata redirected to \\server1\profiles\%username%\appdata adobe reader would first try directly access \\server1\profiles.  If the user does not have to Traverse folder permission, this fails. Typically you will need to change your permissions on you profile share from:
    -                   Users - Read Attributes (Apply to: This folder, subfolders and files)
    -                   Users - Read Extended Attributes (Apply to: This folder, subfolders and files)
    -                  Users - Create Folders/Append Data (Apply to: This folder, subfolders and files)
    -                   Users - Read Permissions (Apply to: This folder, subfolders and files)
To the share permissions suggested by Microsoft in KB 274443:
    -                   Everyone - Create Folder/Append Data (Apply onto: This Folder Only)
    -                   Everyone - List Folder/Read Data (Apply onto: This Folder Only)
    -                   Everyone - Read Attributes (Apply onto: This Folder Only)
    -                   Everyone - Traverse Folder/Execute File (Apply onto: This Folder Only)
    Hopefully this helps everyone.

  • How to move all graphic files to another hard drive?

Sorry that I do not even understand the program well enough to use the specific terms but my wife is using Photoshop Elements 4 and has thousands of graphic files. She wants to move them all to another hard drive to free up space on C drive.
1 - How do we move all the files without confusing the organizer? My wife found a move function but still has two problems: 1- Can't figure out how to tell the program where to put the files (seems like it may have just created another copy on C drive). 2- the organizer has to reconnect to every single file that is moved - a process that takes hours.
2 - How do we change the settings so that Elements will store files on the new G drive instead of continuing to put everything on C drive? Most of her new files are camera uploads and scans.
3 - After we get the files set up on G drive, is there an easy way to identify and remove the old files on the C drive? (Judging from the amount of space that is filling up on the C drive, it seems that the program must have duplicated the files on C drive in our previous attempts to move files.)

I can help with some of this...
The simple way to move the files is using Folder View. You can then simply drag and drop images - or whole folders - to the new drive. It will take a little while to sort out the catalog, but nothing painful. No reconnecting is necessary.
Go to Edit/Preferences. There is a setting there that determines where image files are stored.

I moved from an old macbook to a new one.  I have installed Office for Mac 2011. I copied all my files from my old notebook onto a hard drive.  On trying to setup my mail, i went into my hard drive and accessed microsoft user identities, office 2011 and it shows the database but wont let me select it.  Its almost as if the file is there but not accessable.  I desperately need to access my old mail.  How do I do this?  I am fairly confident that I copied all files off my old notebook.  Is there a way for me to search for the Database file?  Maybe I copied it to a different location?  Urgent help please.

Hello mafrerichs and welcome to Apple Support Communities,
Simplest way is to use Target Disk mode:
How to use and troubleshoot FireWire target disk mode - Apple Support
and hook to another Mac and use CCC or SuperDuper and clone your HD to another drive.
You could also pull the drive out of your MBP and use an external USB case or SATA - USB dongle to hook it to another Mac.
