How to search in a specific folder?

I have a late 2012 iMac with Yosemite. How can you search in a specific folder? If I am in my movies folder, how can I just narrow my search to that folder only. Not sure why I have to ask this and why it isn't easy enough to figure out. Please do not tell me I don't have to download an external app to do such a basic function.

I know this sounds elementary. However, it doesn't seem to work for me. Let me explain:
I have opened a finder window and clicked on a specific folder. In that folder are over a hundred files. In the same finder window, I enter the exact file name of an file in that same folder (let's assume we know its in that folder). Let's pretend the folder I'm searching is called "PhotosA"
After I type in the file name, the search begins. However, in the window, it tells me it's searching "This Mac" and the folder which I have selected--PhotosA--is not selected. So then I click on the PhotosA folder and it shows up as found.
My question is: Why do I need to do an extra step to click on PhotosA, when I have already told the computer I want to search in PhotosA? Why does the search always go to "This Mac"? This is not a major problem. It's just a minor annoyance.
Is there a way for me to set my Mac to search the folder or drive I have selected, as opposed to it always going to "This Mac"?

How to create Smart Folder that limits search to a specific folder or drive

I've been playing with Smart Folders in Leopard 10.5.5. I would like to create a smart folder that limit the search to only a specific folder where I keep all of my work related files. I cannot figure a way how to do this.

1.) Performed Archive and Install. This did not correct the problem.
2.) Performed clean install to new hard drive. This corrected the problem.
3.) Performed a user migration (to the fresh new OS and new HD) using the migration utility and the problem returned.
So it seems pretty clear that there is something related to my user identity that is causing the problem. I called Apple tech support but they were not able to resolve the problem.
Sure, I can just create a new user and spend the next week or so reinstalling a bunch of software...but certainly based on the description of the problem (and the trouble shooting that I have already performed) someone at Apple should be able to pinpoint what files I need to delete or replace to correct this problem.

Im trying to implement a Multigraph ADT in Java. Multigraph is a graph that has multible edges connecting a node. I assume you all know what a Graph ADT looks like.
So i think ive got all the basic methods functions of a normal graph/mulitgraph and now i want to search for a element in it
The question is how will i so that?
Do i use a breadth first search?
But i thought a BFS traverses all the elements in a graph? And how can i use a BFS to search for a specific element in a graph?

I thought of doing that but i want to remember the nodes i revisted to get to the target (not all - but the quickest route to that node)
My design so far is:
have 3 Interface namely Graph, Node & Edge.
Classes will inherit those interface to provide the actual implementation as i want the details/coding to be abstract meaning i can give many different way of implementations.
The graph class will add nodes & edges where when adding edges, edge will store 2 nodes in it respectively source & destination nodes.
Both Node & Edges will be stored in graph using some data structures atm (arrayList i presume)
My Design is that i want to (my aim of the task of searching) search for a node in the multigraph by inputting (maybe 2 nodes) into method - start node target node! The method should return a list of nodes to get to the target node.+
So so far i have this wee algorithm in mind:
+1. Input start + target node as parameters+
+2. Use BFS to search the graph+
+3. When reached target node - halt+
+4. return the list of nodes that visited to get there (but not all - only the precise & fastest)+
So will that work?
If so how do i go about doing implementation?

How to save in a specific folder if i'm no more able to see the subdirectories?

suddenly today I discovered that I'm no more able to choose a specific document when I have to attach it to an e-mail and at the same time I'm no more able to make a save as in a specific folder. I'm able only to see the main directories like desktop, home, documents on the left side but when I'm trying to go into the sud directories of each folder I'm not able to do this and even if I click for instance on the folder document I do not see any document. The strange thing is that if I want to open a specific document I'm able to navigate anywhere! Is there someone able to help me?

Yes, I'm seeing exactly the same of your above screenshot but when I click on the right arrow I see only the main folders on the left (preferred folders, home etc. but without any specific file in those folders and even clicking on those ones I'm not able to navigate through them i.e. to expand them)

Please don’t hit me but I am currently a BlackBerry user, since this is the standard I got from the company I work for.
That said, new server technologies allows now to use also other devices with the same company server, something that gives me the chance to switch to an iPhone.
Basically it’s all ready for the switch, but just one thing holds me from making the step.
It’s the email messages filing procedure.
With the iPhone, assuming I am not missing something (something that I hope), when you want to file an email in one of your folders you select the “file” function and then you scroll with your finger across the folders list you have in your email account.
This is all right if you have an handful of folders, but if you have hundreds, if not thousands, of folders it will take forever to find the one you’re looking for.
With a BlackBerry, once you selected the email messages you’d like to file, and after you selected the “file” function, you can also scroll, but – very important for me – I can also start typing the initial letters of the folder I’m looking for. The more I type the less folders will appear, as less folders will match with letters I typed. Once the list is short enough to easily see the folder you want (usually after you typed two or three letters, which takes no more than a second), you can pick the folder you wanted in a blink of an eye.
This makes email messages filing a very fast operation, and since I use this for my job I can’t live without email filing.
If someone of you knows how to perform the same with an iPhone, and possibly with the original apple mail software, I will very glad to make the switch.

How do I select a specific folder of photos for a slideshow on Apple TV?

Using Apple TV 3 and Mountain Lion on Mac Mini. I am making a slide show on Apple TV. The thing is, unlike in the music function, in which I see all my playlists listed, in the Slideshow function all I see is "Photos", and the photos shown are only those from the first folder in pictures, so that is all that is available for me from which to make the slideshow. No, sorry, that's how Migration Assistant works -- the most recent backup is the one it uses.
Your best bet might be to restore whatever you need from that last backup somewhere else, then delete it (see Time Machine - Frequently Asked Question #12), so the last backup is the one you want.

How do I excude a specific folder from Endpoint Protection scans on *ANY* drive?

I see this question come up over and over again, and I still have not managed to find a straight answer. Sure hope someone here can help. I am in a situation where I have the same exact folder name on multiple random drives that I need to exclude from Endpoint
Protection client scans. So for example here is what I need to exclude:
C:\MyFolder
D:\MyFolder
E:\MyFolder
F:\MyFolder
G:\MyFolder
H:\MyFolder
J:\MyFolder
Z:\MyFolder
I have tried the following with no success:
*\MyFolder
*:\MyFolder
How to I tell Endpoint Protection to exclude "MyFolder" across the board on every drive letter? Can it be done with wildcards?

Sorry, but it can't be done. Real-time protection doesn't honor wildcards used for drives or folders (though it will honor a wildcard for a file name if it is part of a full path. C:\Example\*.log for example) The documentation is sparse for SCEP, but it's

The reason is that it's inherently less secure to be able to add such broad exclusions, so they don't make it easy. The best you can do is one exclusion per drive letter as you have above.
Well thats at least an answer! Heh, I can live with that. So I just need to try and collect a list of drive letters where those folders are present and add them one at a time then? To excluse everythign underneaht that folder can I just add the folder path
like so:

Or do I need to do somethign like this instead:
C:\MyFolder\*.*

Also, it's not clear where you want the file.
You're making a directory C :\ram, but then you're talking about a file ram.txt that's right in C:
Also, you can use / instead of doubling up the \ and it wil get converted properly.
If I wanted to create a file C:\ram\ram.txt I'd do this:
File parentDir = new File("C:/ram");
File file = new File(parentDir, "ram.txt");
parentDir.mkdirs();
file.createNewFile();

If you are using extended mail notification, then go to transaction - ' swnconfig ' -> General Settings -> WD host / WG host and change the link. For details please refer

If not, and it is individually embedded in mail, then please check one of the mail and its content. As there is no generic tool to search for the content.

1) I would like to perform a search using TREX but giving a specific folder within the folder used by my index.
example: MyIndex is pointed to /documents
but I would like to search from /documents/MyStartFolder

2)Second question is:
I need to get the abstract for each resource I found using my search.
---> Once again, how to do that ?
And I didn't find it reading some documentation about TREX in KM.

If I get the resource like the following:
IResource resource = ResourceFactory.getInstance().getResource(rid,resourceContext);
then resource.get... has no getDocumentAbstract() method.
Do you mean that I need to use resource.getProperty(new PropertyName("documentabstract")) ... ?? if this property exist, not sure
(2)Regarding the search folder
Ok I found what you mentioned in your post.
But I forgot to say one thing: in my code I want to search from a specific folder BUT this folder has to be dynamic and can change from one search to another search.

Why can't I save for web in a specific folder using actions?

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to save in a specific folder desitnations when using Actions and Saving For Web with CS6 PS for Windows. It ALWAYS defaults to last folder used. I am not Batch Processing, just using Actions on one image at a time. I have 3 of these actions. Action one is for "Thumbnail" folder, Action two is for "Full" folder, and Action three is for "Large" folder. All these actions are doing is saving for web into these folders (path displays correctly in Action script). HOWEVER after I successfully use Action one and save into the Thumbnail folder and move on to Action 2, it wants to save back into Thumbnail AND NOT into Full folder. In short I now have 3 actions saving to the same folder even though my recording designated 3 different locations. HELP!

Ok...I switched to my home Mac and was having similar issues with the toggle Save for Web window on. Saving to same folder even in Mac OS. Tried your way by keeping toggle off and it worked, saving diff images to different folders. I guess I have to figure a work around for the naming conventions however. My original is a 5 digit number lets say 11111.jpg. When I duplicate / use a sizing action I get two additional photos named 11111 copy.jpg. That is why I kept toggle window on in CS3 so I could simply paste the 11111 name back in the dialogue window so I'd have three diff size photos in three diff folders named 11111.jpg.
These steps might seem super basic but I do these steps for a website all day everyday three months straight without issue and I guess I have to adjust. I usually use orignal photos and have to rename. Is there a way to Duplicate images as the same 11111.jpg instead of 11111 copy.jpg? That way I can just rename the photo at the beginning (red_flower_000ddafjdflj to 11111.jpg) and not use toggle (or rename at all).
