How to search within category in a community?

Searching within a community is helpful, but narrowing my search to a category within a community would be really nice!
How do I do this?
Thanks in advance to all,
Kurt

Click the Search button, with or without any search terms provided. Then, select a community in the "Restrict to a Community" field. Note that you have to start typing something, and a list of possible matches will appear. Fill in a search string if you didn't already, then click the Search button again.
Edit: never mind, I responded too fast. I don't know of a way to restrict to a particular category.

    After entering a keyword on the top right search box in '''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > '''Add-ons''', you can try clicking '''My Add-ons''' on the left to search the installed add-ons.

    Hi Liz
    I'm good thanks.
    Document content searching is available by enabling the Oracle Text searching features in Portal. Please refer to the Portal Configuration Guide for your version of the product.

  • How to search within excel file?

    Hi
    I have following requirement:
    A document library will have an excel file with around 10,000 rows. It will have one column as a primary key column. Column name is: Request ID
    A SharePoint site will have a page with text box and button. Users will enter Request ID in text box and click on button. Page division will display all the data from excel file associated with that Request ID
    I have tried using Infopath for this but Infopath fails running when item count increases. Here it is not possible. Uploading the data to SP list is also not possible because of many reasons like list item threshold or reporting methods(excel file will be
    uploaded on daily basis by some different team).
    How can I perform this search task in SharePoint? Is there a way by which we can search within excel file. May be something like - using excel services in CEWP or using filter web part and excel web access web part together on one page.
    Thanks in advance for any help.
    Regards
    Pratima

    I got solution for this.
    Create an excel file with as much as vlookup values. In excel it is possible to refer any file in vlookup. Lookup with Request ID and retrieve all the required values. Let the name of this file be: SearchBook.xlsx. Upload it to SP site.
    Create an InfoPath form to have a front end. Connect this form to excel file SearchBook.xlsx using SOAP web service.
    Create two more data connections to set cell value and read cell value. Using these data connection set value of cell with the entered Request ID and read corresponding lookup values. Display it to the Infopath form.
    This solution perfectly works. And it is very very very less time consuming. For me it returns the result in 1-2 seconds for around 5k records in excel file.

  • How to search within a specific folder

    I know this sounds elementary. However, it doesn't seem to work for me. Let me explain:
    I have opened a finder window and clicked on a specific folder. In that folder are over a hundred files. In the same finder window, I enter the exact file name of an file in that same folder (let's assume we know its in that folder). Let's pretend the folder I'm searching is called "PhotosA"
    After I type in the file name, the search begins. However, in the window, it tells me it's searching "This Mac" and the folder which I have selected--PhotosA--is not selected. So then I click on the PhotosA folder and it shows up as found.
    My question is: Why do I need to do an extra step to click on PhotosA, when I have already told the computer I want to search in PhotosA? Why does the search always go to "This Mac"? This is not a major problem. It's just a minor annoyance.
    Is there a way for me to set my Mac to search the folder or drive I have selected, as opposed to it always going to "This Mac"?

    Use Easyfind.

  • How do I search threads within a specific support community, i.e.. Apple Remote Desktop?

    Very frustrated with new layout of discussion forums...
    How do I search key words within threads within a specific support community?
    For Example I want to search the phrase 'couldn't collect' within the Apple Remote Desktop community.

    Thanks for your response. I'm well aware of the global search field.
    My problem with that is if I search the term 'couldn't collect', (in reference to a very specific Error message generated while running a report via Apple Remote Desktop Task Server) I get a slew of useless hits that have either the words 'couldn't' and/or 'collect' or any variation of those words, such as 'collection'.
    I'm looking for responses that are very specific to Apple Remote Desktop only. I don't have hours to weed through thousands of responses that have no bearing to that at all.
    Searching within specific sub-communities was possible before this new layout. Whatever happened to the booelean searches and searching by phrases and the 'advanced' searches? Do they still exist?

  • How to search inside a category /community?

    Hi,
    to be honest, I find the support community website one of the worst in terms of usability, especially the search function. What I'm trying to achieve is pretty simple. I want to search a category or community for a keyword, e.g. I want to find discussions about the sidebar in Mail. When I go to OSX and click "Mail & Contacts", I get all discussions displayed, but I can't search or filter them any further. Isn't that possible? There is also no "extended" search where I could limit my search to anything. To me this would be the easiest and natural way to find something...
    p.

    Thanks for the hint. I've seen that already but unfortunately it didn't help. In theory I can limit the search to a community but there is no "More options" button to click on. There is a text field though, but for that I need to know the community names. For "Aperture" it works, but if I enter "Mail", it still shows results of random communities (iMac, Developers, iPad...).
    Nevermind, maybe I cant get along with this because I'm not a fan of the tagging philosophy/method. It never worked for me.

  • How can I adjust the search bar to search within a specific website?

    I used to use Chrome (still miss it a little bit), but Firefox has continually grown on me.
    One feature I do miss from Chrome being able to search within a specific website from the search bar. For example, I was able to type in amazon.com, then pressing tab, and type in a specific search term, such as "The Terminator." When I pressed enter after typing "The Terminator," Chrome would automatically take me to Amazon's search results for "The Terminator."
    And it wouldn't just be Amazon either; pretty much any site that had a searchable database, Chrome would be capable of utilizing this feature. Is there any way to replicate that in Firefox?

    hello crachor, probably keyword search can offer you a similar functionality in firefox: [[How to search IMDB, Wikipedia and more from the address bar]]

    NamedValue[] result = sem.search(seExp, nv, null);
    // search result display

    Item[] resulItem = (Item[]) result[i].getValue();
    WsUtility.log("Kveni",resulItem);
    if (resulItem != null)
    for (int j = 0; j < resulItem.length; j++)
    WsUtility.log("File " +resulItem[j].getName());
    But how do one search Based on the attributes of the category??
    thanks

    Download the PM accelerator kit appropriate to your environment, and check out the TestSearch2.java example.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/cs/developer/contentservicesdev/contenservicesdevkit.html
    Essentially you need to lookup the internal names of your category attributes, as well as have the internal name of your category class.
    categoryClassName = ...; // e.g. AHC_XXX
    attribute1name = ....; // e.g. CUSTOM_MYBOOLATTR
    you then create a normal search expression such as
    String attribute1Operand = "[" + categoryClassName + FdkConstants.SEPARATOR + attribute1name + "]";
    SearchExpression expr1 = new SearchExpression();
    expr1.setOperator(FdkConstants.OPERATOR_EQUAL);
    expr1.setLeftOperand(attribute1Operand);
    expr1.setRightOperand(Boolean.TRUE);

  • How do I search within a smart folder?

    In OSX Snow Leopard, I was able to perform a search within a Smart Folder. Now when I try to do the same in OSX Lion, I get strange results that aren't accurate at all. I'm seeing files in the search results that aren't even part of the Smart Folder. It doesn't seem to be working. Is this another known bug in Lion?

    Let me walk you through the problem. If I navigate to a particular folder nd click in search it does not show the folder name:
    However if I start typing I get the option to search said folder. Than I just blank out what I typed so I can get everything in the folder and all of it's subfolders. Strangely, "Kind: Any" does not work. I had to set it to documents.

    In ios6 you could search within a page on safari, but I can't find the search since updating to ios7.
    Surely this is a severe deficiency?

    If I tap on the URL field then yes, you are taken to a screen with your favorites, but if then start typing in the URL field you should get something like :
    Tap on a result below the 'on this page' to go back to your webpage and that occurence should be highlighted
