How to secure data by operating unit in oracle payments

Hello
We are in the process of setting up to make payments from one single bank account across all operating units to avoid maintenance and number of templates.
As part of our process we submit the payment process request across all operating units and once the status changes to Invoices pending review, we will inform the business heads to check the invoices and we have given them the access to remove the invocies from the payment run, business leads check the invoices and remove some of them based on the cash flow. At the moment the business leads are able to see the payment information for all the operating units however we want them to see only the information specific to that operating unit. I tried MO and HR security profile options but no luck hence requesting you to share your inputs on the same.

You can use heterogeneous services (HS) connection to MS-Access from Oracle and still use the same PL/SQL (or even a single CTAS statement) or SQL to load directly to Oracle tables. It's transparent, quick and clean as opposed to writing complex control files.
You might have to set the ODBC connection to your Access database and add the details to Oracle listener.
Please let me know if you are not sure how to set up the connection.

Pl/Sql developer has a config window, there you choose the exec to do the import/export.
Find it and his home version, it may be exp or expdp, the home version is the version of the client where the exp executable is.
Then use the same version of imp or impdp to execute the import, you do not need to use Oracle SQL Developer 2.1.1.64. If you want to use it, you must have the same version in the oracle home that exp/imp of sql developer use.

Can we apply Security rules at Operating unit level to Segregate the data

As per the business requirement , the customer don't want to create a separate Operating unit to segregate the data b/w Legal entity values .
So leaving vendor restriction , we are trying to achieve security at Invoice and Payment levels.
So in this Scenarios , as per research I tried to create a Data access Set for few Le's values and assigned to the Payable's responsibility .
The following profile options have been assigned :
a) GL:DATA ACCESS SET
b) SLA :Enable Data Access Security in subledger
c) SLA:Additional Data Access Set
After this expectation was :
When I enter any invoice for this responsibility it has to restrict all those BSV values except the one in the Data Access Set .
But it was saving that Invoice ...
Can any one suggest anything ? If I need to additional Configurations or anything .

I thing that you need to evaluate access though the responsibility to the AP Functions, in this case if you have granted access to the invoice/invoice batchs, you can perform an invoice, related to your test case, if you was created a invoice in an invalid company (BSV), maybe your Flexfield Value Security are not setup properly.

Data Security for single operating unit

Hi,
We have only one OU implemented and have two businesses X and Y. Now, Y deals with patient healthcare information so they are subject to HIPAA regulations, but X is not. A business requirement was defined that X users should not have access to Y customer data, but currently the only way we were aware of separating data within Oracle is through operating units. Multiple operating units is not an option so we need some soluion around it.
All pointers are appreciated.

Sorry for the late response...We'll have the data,say for customers, in our database all with the same OU. But at the same time, we need to segregate the data so that X business can't see Y's customers and vice versa. I know this is possible through the OLS but wanted to weigh different and easy to implement options, as we already have a huge set of data that we need to segregate based on business.

e.g.,

This is a case of Internal Sales Orders between 2 OU's.
Qty will be tracked in destination organisation/OU in Internal Requisition Summary,in the lines you have a field called "quantity delivered"
This Qty is nothing but the IS/ISO specified qty.

How to join data from SAP BW and Oracle database from Webi?

Hi,
Need to create a Web Intelligence Report connecting to multiple data sources.
Ø SAP-BW contains the data (All units).
Ø Oracle db contains the access security data (respective units
for the user).
Since Universe can only connect to a single data-source we have to create two universes connecting to SAP-BW and Oracle db respectively and then create a webi report to point the two universes to retrieve the equi-join data on the report.
May I know which layer I can join the data? What kind of data I can join?
Can I merge dimensions from both the data sources? What about measures?
How I can create SQL query in Webi in order to simulate the join to the two data source?
Appreciate any info related.

Hi Nora,
You can use Data Federator technology to federate multi-sources such as SAP BW and Oracle.
Las you just have to create a universe on the Data Federator data source and the universe isee the data source as a single source whereas it is not.
Then any clainet that consume uninverses can take advantage of this solution.

How to refine data in aggregates tables (created by "create aggregates ..." statement) after the data in corresponding database tables was updated?
It is unable to use the "delete aggregates" statement and then "create aggregates" again, because "delete aggregates" eliminates all aggregates in a model, but there are several aggregates in our model, that are intended for refining in different time moments and periods.

How to load date field from a remote Oracle DB with DB Connect

Hi,
Does any one have experience extracting Date field from a remote Oracle database through DB Connect to BW? I am experiencing data format issue. The extracted data shows '04-Oct-0' for '10/4/05'. It works fine if I create a view in Oracle database to preformat the data to '20051004'. But, I am not allowed to create view in Remote DB.
Any suggestion is very appreciated.

You have to change it to a varchar2 field. YYYYMMDD. I do not know of any other option.

Issue Description: The stock status report to be developed at SATN has some information that is currently calculated and stored in the Fox/pro system. A real time ODBC needs to be done to the AS/400 system to retrieve values for the respective fields. This has never been tested before as it impacts many areas.
The DBA team need to work to establish such a relationship and a report needs to be written in Oracle to have this tested on a real time basis. Mapping needs to be developed on the Oracle side to grab the correct fields

How to secure data transmission from Essbase Excel add-in to Essbase Server

I have a requirement to secure the data transmission (encrypt) the data transmission from the Essbase excel add in on the client machine to the Essbase server. I have confirmed with Oracle support that the excel add-in and the API only transmit the data in binary from with no encryption.
I wanted to see if anyone has implemented this before?

not supported. You might check with Tim Tow

Dodeca or ActiveOlap products support encryption.Glenn is correct in that Oracle doesn't support it. More specifically, the Essbase server itself does not support it.
The other products mentioned in this thread, Smartview, Spreadsheet Services, Dodeca and ActiveOLAP, all can talk to the middle tier via https and are thus encrypted through that portion of the transaction. However, the communication from the middle tier, Analytic Provider Services in the case of System 9, talks to Essbase via TCP/IP unencrypted. If your middle tier/Essbase server connections are not 'sniffable', then essentially they are secured (albeit not encrypted).

Well, the legacy systems you mentioned should use a proper data interface instead of direct data structure (e.g. table) access instead.
Something like RFC-calls for example.
Or a XI-connector.
Or a Web-Service.
Or ... or ... or ...
There are in fact many options.
Just acessing the tables is by far the worst option to go.
At the very least, I'd use views to ensure that only the required data is visible via this dblink and that the access structure (that is, how the views look like) remain the same, even if the SAP application changes in the background.
Even better would be to provide PL/SQL access procedures.
That way the legacy application could use a procedure call and wouldn't have to deal with the SAP table design.
