Hello, I have not found a detailed description on how to transfer printer settings from one Mac to another.
My issue is that I have a Mac G5 with 3 different settings saved as "presets" for the same printer. This works great, since the posters I print (on the large format printer) need different margins and different paper at times.
This G5 is basically retired and only used for printing. G5 has OSX 10.3.9
I have a MacPro as its replacement (OSX 10.4.11).
The MacPro has all my apps and other settings setup to my liking.
I found several links via Google saying copy this folder or directory, but I am not sure I did it correctly. I don't see the "presets".
I tried launching the Migration Assistant (I hope that's the correct name), but was concerned the settings on the new MacPro would be overwritten with ALL the old stuff on the older G5. I did not start the transfer process because of this.
If someone would list the steps needed to accomplish the transfer of printer settings or advise if this is possible, then I would be very grateful! The previous user of the G5 I am using was a "Genius" and I don't know how he created these "preset" choices.

This is the File that holds that info on Tiger, not certain on Panther...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.print.custompresets.plist
After moving, you very well might have to change the Owner's Permissions within Get Info window, then log out/in.

MA would transfer the info, but/and, if the user that had that info had the same Shortname as on the new one, it'll demand you give it a new Shortname to use... but then those settings would be transferred to that new user on the new machine. I think the 1st one will work though.

Per the turorials, this is suppose to occur automatically.
In the rare event that it does not, forced by lack of support through Adobe or the forums, I am relagated to resolve my problem the old fasjion way. Guessing at a solution of dragging and dropping (risking overwritting current the newer LR5 files (careful now).
I love the product but trying to get problem resolution here has been disapointing.

The only option would be to set up the iPad to open a PDF reader app as the sole app in Guided Access:

That's the only way you can limit an iPad to using only a single app. That would seem to make the iPad rather overkill, if all you want is for them to be able to read PDFs. Something like one of the base-model Kindles might be better suited to the task.

How do I move settings from one Airport unit to another?

I am considering buying one of those new Airport Expresses, the one with dual band. I have a few questions about importing the settings (from my existing Extreme unit):
- Is it true that it's better to start from scratch when setting up the new unit (vs. importing the settings from the old), because the performance will be better?
- Assuming I do import: Won't there be a problem where, even for a short time (that is, until I deactivate my old unit), I'll have two Airport units with the same settings running simultaneously? What should I do about that?
- How do I reset my old unit to its factory settings so I don't have my network name and password still stored in it?

I always prefer to factory reset. Never bother with importing, and when I do it didn't always work right for me anyway.
To reset the router to factory defaults, hold in the reset button as you plug it into the outlet. Keep holding the pin down until it flashes amber rapidly.

Depending on the version you have depends on if the function is available. It may be that 10 did not h ave the Papersource member.

You cannot secure your images from copying; taking a screenshot will bypass any protection mechanism you can implement. If you want to disable only the Save As option, setting the pictures as background images may work. You may want to create a watermark on the posted images.

How to transfer app settings from iPhone?

We only got the iPad in the Uk today so apologise if these are obvious questions!
Is it possible to sync/transfer settings from my iPhone to iPad. I set up my new iPad and would like iPhone settings on the iPad to be synced e.g. preferences of an app etc. Is this possible or will the devices work independently. I am not a games fan but I do indulge in Angry Birds, the iPad version has lost all my settings! Is it possible for both devices to sync settings so that whatever platform I play on the settings will be updated?
I have not yet Kindle yet, are page marks etc synced between the devices?

Actually it does not work that way. Actual program settings might, in a few Apps, be retained upon backup. But no data are permitted to be stored in backup by 3rd party apps. Only Apple Apps will retain data. Everything else had to be started anew on the iPad.
That is, your notes, contacts, address book, data will get backed up and synced. But ToDo apps, for example, will not sync your data and you will need to start tons fresh on iPad. Neither will any of your games settings be retained, and you will be back to Level One on all of them.

Being unwilling to mortgage my future to CC, I have taken the plunge and bought CS6 while it is still available. This is on Windows 7.
Is it feasible to migrate settings from CS2 to CS6 and if so how do I do it? I am not sure whether CS6 installation will automatically uninstall CS2 or require me to do it.

Hmmmm… My pedestrian Mac Book has the lowly Intel GMA 950 chipset with a mere 64 MB of VRAM in the form of Shared System Memory. Photoshop 13.0.5 chugs along, minus the advanced graphics capabilities or GPU processing, of course.
Until I acquired the 65-lb Mac Pro, that was my dinky Photoshop CS6 system.
I was happy to be able to run ACR 7.4 on it.

Proxy settings on the iPad relate only to WiFi (Settings > WiFi). It's possible your mobile operator is using a Proxy. You should talk to them to see if that's the case.

You'll need to copy your /Home/Library folder. Make sure you back up first before doing the following. Log out of both your Work and Play accounts. Log in to a third account with administrator privileges. Assuming you are copying from the account called "work" to the account called "play", enter the following in Terminal:
sudo rm -rf ~play/Library (this deletes Play's Library folder.)
sudo cp -R ~work/Library ~play/Library (this copies Work's Library folder to Play's folder.)
sudo chown -R play ~play/Library (this fixes permissions of Play's new Library folder.)

In which table can I find security audit settings from SM19?

I'd like to give certain users access to the security audit settings that we defined in SM19. They are supposed to be able to read them but not change anything. I've experimented a bit with SM19 authorizations and figured out that a read-only access to SM19 is possible if I deactivate S_C_FUNCT. The problem is that the aforementioned users already have complete access to S_C_FUNCT and are supposed to keep it. The also have AUDD and AUDA in S_ADMI_FCD. Ergo: If I just add the S_TCODE for SM19 they'd be able to change security audit settings and I don't want to allow that.
Does anybody know the table where SM19 saves its settings? Maybe I could grant read-only access to that table via SM30 or SE16...
