How to see a "base station" mounted USB drive while in "Bootcamp"

I have a Airport Base Station, that happens to also have a USB Drive attached to it. I am able to see, read/write, to that drive while in OSX, however while in "Bootcamp" I can not see that drive..????
We are trying to find a good way of sharing files between a PPc and my intel machine which is in Bootcamp for my CAD software. We do the image edits in Photoshop on my PPC, and I have been just e-mailing stuff to myself to be able to get those images over to the MBP while in Bootcamp, but there has to be an easier way to share files between BC and OSX; and apples website says that a USB drive can be seen from BC, but what do I need on the BC side of things in order to view that drive?

"but what do I need on the BC side of things in order to view that drive?"
That would have a lot to do with what OS you're running on the BC partition wouldn't it? You don't say what OS you're using. By the way, what does the acronym PPC stand for? Just curious.

  • AirPort Express Base Station and USB Webcam

I see that the AirPort Express Base Station has a USB port.  Is it possible to connect an off the shelf USB webcam, maybe from Microsoft or Logitech, to the AirPort Express Base Station USB port and use it as a wireless surveillance system?  Of course you would need proper monitoring software.  You could have an AirPort Extreme Base Station connected to your network and several AirPort Express Base Stations with USB webcams attached keeping track of say your home, your business, etc...  If you had the correct monitoring software, you could view any motion triggers from let's say your iPhone.  The monitoring software would work with both Mac and Windows.  Great idea right?  Is this idea even feasible?  If so, how?  If not, why not?  I'm just trying to figure out a way using standard off the shelf USB webcams.  Any suggestions would be helpful and I thank you in advance.

Well your best bet would be to get a wireless webcam! Cisco makes a great one as well as D-Link! Here are a few models:

  • How to setup multiple base station under one network?

How to setup multiple base station under one network? I have 6 rooms but one airport base station makes really difficult to get good signal from every rooms. I wonder if I can setup multiple airport base stations talking to each other under the same network to build up the signal strength will help solve this problem. But, is it possible? How?

One route would be to utilize a "roaming" network. In a roaming network, you would connect multiple AirPort Extreme Base Stations (AEBS) to the same Ethernet. Of course, this would require that your home is already wired for Ethernet.

  • Airport Utility did not see the base station.

When I bought Airport Extreme I didn't succeed installing it. Airport Utility DID NOT see the base station.
With Apple assistance I first 'FOUND' the base connecting it to my Intel iMac through ethernet. Later I was able to finish the setup wireless through Airport utility. It works fine and I saved the configuration.
Now I wish to reinstall Leopard initializing the computer in order to make some major cleanup.
Shall I be able to reinstall Airport opening the saved configuration or might I found some of previous problems (base not found) again?
I would appreciate any meaning of yours.

  • Airport Utility doesn't "see" my base station now

I've got an HP Pavilion running Vista. Have an Airport Extreme base station which was working fine with it, both Internet and Bonjour, until I had a problem last week and had to do a factory install from a disc.
I had a backup, and restored using that, but now Airport doesn't recognize the base station any more. I plugged my Internet in using an ethernet cable and downloaded the very latest Airport software. I tried turning off both Windows firewall and Norton firewall. No help.
I poked around Airport Utility, tried to open the baseconfig file. It asks me what folder it's in. I've done a Windows "Search" and there is no such file on the computer.
This base station continues to work fine with the Intel iMac a few feet away. My Pavilion just seems to be missing something after the restore. Thanks for any suggestions.

Any thought on what settings I need to change on the PC to get it to see the base station?
Often, this issue is caused by either the Windows Firewall blocking the attempted connection, or by the anti-virus software doing the same thing...or, it can be a combination of both things.
Check the settings on both applications to look for "blocked" connections and change the status to "allow" the connection.
No guarantees, but this will solve the issue perhaps 60-70% of the time.

  • Internet connection works but I can't see the base station

My internet connection is OK (I'm able to surf and get e-mail) but I can't see my base station on just one of my computers. It shows up in the others, so I don't think it's a problem with the AEBS. I've tried re-installing the Airport Utility software, repairing permissions, etc. but it just keeps saying it can find a base station. Any ideas?

    OK, thanks for the clarification.
If you haven't already tried this, connecting an ethernet cable from your computer directly to one of the LAN ports on the base station will usually allow AirPort Utility to "see" the device.
You may need to restart the Extreme and your computer as part of the sequence.
And sometimes, the device will just "appear" after 10-15 minutes or so after a restart. I have no idea why this is.

  • Pcmanfm is "Not Authorized" to mount usb drives

    Hi,
I recently installed arch linux it's a nice distro but I got a few problem with it.
The biggest one is that I am actually not able to mount usb drives with pcmanfm this means that I am not able to use my old debian /home so far.
I tired multiple thinks (some of them are still active)  e.g for example I used to setup a udev rules which wasn't helpful at all (and even after deleting this rule I always see server empty folder in /media (but that's another problem)).
Any ideas why I am not able to mount encrypted and not encrypted USB drives in arch linux?

  • Does anybody knows how to install Windows 7 from a USB drive on 2010 MacBook Air running Lion?

Does anybody knows how to install Windows 7 from a USB drive on 2010 MacBook Air running Lion?

    Tell my wife that!
This is the best I can do. This way you can use the 2011 MBA way to do things.
Look for the post from @jacktourist. (on page 2 about half way down) This seems to be the easiest.
There are a couple of more similar to this with pictures I've seen around but can't remember where.
Here's another search with added info. It's easier then it sounds.

  • How can I re-install lion via usb drive on my new mba(mid-2011)?

how can I re-install lion via usb drive on my new mba(mid-2011)?
I just removed all data from main hd, and my network is not good enough to be able to download the os via recovery hd re-installing way.
in other words, is there a bootable [mac os x lion dmg] for my mba that I can download?

If you are looking for a download link for OS X Lion, I do not know of one. However if you really need the operating system you can buy a USB drive with OS X Lion on it, ready to boot. I think they're $69 at Apple's store. What I would do is contact AppleCare via the Express Lane or just call them and tell them your situation and then they will definantly have an answer for you to point you in the right direction.
    Good luck!

  • HT1998 How can I administer a Gen 1 Airport Express from Airport Utility 6.3.2 (OS 10.9). I can see the base station but get the message: "This version of AirPort Utility doesn't support this base station. Go to AirPort Service and Support for more inform

How can I administer a Gen1 Airport Express from, my MacPro (OS 10.9, Airport Utility 6.3.2). I can see the Express in the WiFi window but from the Airport Utility I get the following message: " This version of AirPort Utility doesn’t support this base station. Go to AirPort Service and Support for more information." Of course there's nothing of value on the support page. Any clues anyone?

Apple has dropped support in Mavericks (10.9) of the AirPort Express and AirPort Extreme models that were discontinued more than six years ago.
You can still administer the older AirPort models if you have a Mac running Leopard, Snow Leopard, or a PC.

  • Airport Utility can't see configured base stations

I have two MABs.  One with AU can see base + AX and other cannot.  The one that cannot is running Mountain Lion and the working one is running Lion.  Both have AU 6.1.  Base station is at 7.6.1.  I can get on the internet, but cannot see or manage AE/AX.  In addition, iPad app works fine.
Configuration is Airport Extreme 802.11N (5TH GEN) and two (2)
    I have done the following:
    * Hard reset AE & AX and reconfigured entire network
    * Rebooted with USB ethernet cable plugged into AE
    * Turned off IPV6 via CLI
    * Removed keychain entries for Airport (where possible)
All systems are on 192.168 home network.  Connection to internet works fine.  Everything else works but this one application.  I have tried 6.1 (native to ML) and unpackaged 5.6.1 and ran binary and neither one works.
I can manually manipulate and update the AE using the "configure other" option via the AU app.  But, I still cannot see it after that.
    Any other ideas?

Sorry, but I can connect to the Airport Extreme and manually configure it as well as booted my laptop while plugged into the Airport Extreme without success.  Mind is foggy after dealing with these for a few hours.

  • Can i do this with the Base Station's USB port?

    Hi,
Airport Extreme Base Station has a USB port which I read you can plug a printer into. My question is: Can I plug a USB hub into this port and access all devices plugged into the hub wirelessly?
Specifically, I have a printer, scanner, external hard drive and want to access them wirelessly from a MacBook.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

My question is: Can I plug a USB hub into this port and access all devices plugged into the hub wirelessly?

The USB port on the square 802.11b/g/n AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) supports ONLY printers and hard drives. Therefore you could connect a USB hub and connect your USB hard drive and printer.
The USB port on the earlier round 802.11b/g AEBS supports ONLY a single compatible printer.

  • Airport Admin Utility, iTunes, Airfoil can't see AE base station

I know this is not a new topic, but I can't find an answer in any of the other threads. With other users the problem seemed to "magically" go away. I have not been so lucky yet.
Airport Admin Utility can't see my AE base station but I can find it using "other" and typing in the IP address. I was able to update the firmware to 6.3 (again using "other" and typing in the IP address since the fw updater couldn't see it either). I can see it (with it's name displayed) with my router software. However, it does not show up in iTunes or Airfoil either.
The base station is connected via ethernet to my home network. I tried rebooting the computer, restarting the base station, I also tried a hard reset on the base. I do not have "distribute ip address" checked. I do have "enable Airtunes" checked. The firmware on my Linksys router is up-to-date and not a hack. I'm running OS X v10.4.5 on a Dual 1.42 GHz PowerMac G4.
    Thanks in advance.
    Dual 1.42 GHz PPC G4, 1.42GHz Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

okay, I connected the AE base directly to the PowerMac with the ethernet cable and it showed up in everything (Airport Admin Utility and iTunes). So I guess my problem is with the router. What do I do now? This router is only a couple of months old.
When you suggested I disable DHCP, did you mean in the AE settings or on my router? As I mentioned initially, I do not have "distribute ip addresses" set up on the AE base. After reconnecting the AE base to the router, I tried disabling DHCP on the router and that didn't fix the problem.
