How to see PC files?

After inserting an installation CD with Mac and PC software I could
only see the Mac files in the Finder window, but not the PC files.
(On a PC I could only see the PC files and not the Mac files.)
Is there a way to also access these PC files under OS X? Thanks.

Installer DVDs are hybrids that have two volumes. One is only for Macs while the other is only for PCs. The two are not generally visible together. You cannot use the PC files on a Mac as they are intended only for installation on PCs so they cannot be run from OS X.

You can't see by default hidden files through Finder. However, you can do it with a command that you can copy in Terminal (in /Applications/Utilities). Open this application and type:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE && killall Finder
After doing it, you will be able to see hidden files through Finder in all the volumes connected to the MacBook Pro

If they are just text files, download TextWrangler which is a great free text editor, and it has an "Open Hidden…" option. Additionally, It will allow you to "unlock" system files, make modifications, and save using an admin username and password.

  • How to see invisible files

How do you see invisible files on the romote side of the site
window? I've got some .htaccess files, which are supposedly
invisible on the Mac system, though they're visible on my local
site window. If I upload them, I can see them until I quit
Dreamweaver, then I can't see them. These files control access to a
site and if I can't see them I can['t delete them. So now I'm
    locked out of my site.

  • How to see the  file transfer speed on a mac

Hi, I'm kind of a beginner with a Mac, I have worked on windows for all this years and now I have a small dilema. Can someone please tell me how you can see the file transferring speed on a mac. When you copy and paste from one drive to another, or from time capsule to my mac, etc a dialog appears showing you a progress bar and the time remaining. I would also like to see the speed of the transfer. Is it posible to see this variable?

In windows - vista when you copy or paste a folder from one location to another in the file transfer pop-up you can see the speed of the transfer.(You must press the more details arrow on that pop-up). Does Leopard has any configuration for this kind of information.
I will try iGet and write here my feedback.

  • PSE9 Organizer - How to see all files in Folder view?

In v8, there is a tab under Edit/Preferences named "Folder Location View" that allowed one to select either to see all files or just those in the folder that is selected.  I can't find this option in PSE9.  Anyone know what happened to it?
PSE0 defaults to seeing only those files in the selected folder, which is normally my preference as well, except when I am doing certain things and then I really need to see all files in all folders.
For example, I need/want to write my tags to the file meta data in all of my files, but I have to go to each folder individually to do this and then I can only do it on that individual folder.  I really would like to be able to select all of my files and fire it off (yes, I know that would take forever, but I could go do something else while it is processing.)
This is the second reason that upgrading to PSE9 is really downgrading.  One shouldn't lose functionality that has existed in several (all?) previous versions!
Hopefully, this setting has just moved and I can't find it.  If not, Adobe, please add it back in ASAP!!
    Thanks,
    ...Rich

Oh, I forgot to comment on the ability to create an album instantly by folder name.
That really seems like a pretty useless "feature" for all but the most challenged user.
All you need to do without the feature is select all photos in a folder (ctrl a) and then drag them to the folder name.  That just doesn't seem to be all that difficult.
    Thanks again.

  • How to see open files on server

I want to be able to see which files that are open on my server by my users. Is there a tool or utility to see this?
Ive tried lsof but i find that not usable.

The AFP Service log can show access to files, however the way entries are logged makes it practically impossible without huge effort to track down which user was responsible.

  • How to see which files are open on shares

Im fairly new to OS X Server. Am running OS X Server 10.6.8
How can i see files that are open through AFP or SMB? I've tried the command lsof but that doesnt seem to show open files through network.

    Try smbstatus.
To pin down exactly which files are locked for use, try:
    smbstatus | grep -i deny_write
For AFP, I'm not sure exactly how it's done -- there isn't an afpstatus command, so I'm a bit in the dark. However, you could probably use a combination of lsof and grep to find any objects of type REG and owned by applefile.
    Maybe this:
    sudo lsof | grep -i "^applefile" | grep REG
But that will return everything in use by the AppleFile service. From there, though, one may need to be familiar with what shares are on the system to further deduce what's open. For example, I get 10 lines returned, but only one of them contains a known share name (/Users/username/path/to/file), the rest are system directories (/System, /private, /usr, /Library and the like).
    Hope this helps a bit.

  • How to see full file path in DW find/replace results

I've been looking for a solution to this for a while now.
I've also seen many questions about this on other forums but no
    real answers.
The problem is this: when I use the DW8 find feature to
search for something across an entire site (or an entire folder not
in a defined site) all the files in which the pattern was found get
listed with only the filename and the name of that file's immediate
parent folder. I can't see the full path to the file.
Now of course, if I only get a few matches, I can open up all
the files one at a time and see the full path in the DW window
title. However, that gets pretty restrictive if I get lots of
    results.
For example, I searched for something like "model2_header_"
in the source code for one of my sites.
over 6000 files contained a match for that pattern.
I ain't about to open 6000 files just to know where they are
    in the site.
As a specific example, one of those files was located 6
    subfolders down:
    [siteRoot]\ab-dga\tools\guides\tpd-dpc\ov-oev\ccrfta-aleccr\filename.html
But in the DW search results, it was listed as:
    ccrfta-aleccr\filename.html [...matched text here...]
That makes it really hard to find that file.
I still use HomeSite sometimes and I get the full path in
search results there so it's really frustrating that DW doesn't
    provide that information as well.
Please, someone, let me know that there is hope. Find me a
solution (and please don't just give me the last two words of it...
    Thanks.

  • How to see document file name with full path when hovering mouse over title bar?

    Using PS CS6, Windows 7 x64.
I was under the impression that when hovering my mouse over the document title bar, I would see a tooltip showing the full file name, including the path.  This isn't happening and I'm wondering if there is a way to do this.  I know I can click File > Save As, or Ctrl+Shift-S to see the full path, but hoving over the title bar would be easier.  (What I am seeing now in the tooltip is the file name, % magnification and which layer I have selected.  Basically, the tooltip is just showing what's in the title bar without hovering.)
    Thank you!

  • Web Inspector how to see total file size transferred to browser

    Hi
After seeing several tutorials with Safari 4/5 I have bin looking for the total file size that is transferred to the browser when loading a website.
These statistics where easy to find on the old Web Inspector. Does anyone know where I can find this now?
It would be a very big help! Thank you for your time!

Does ScriptingListener.plugin record AM code for this specific step?
No. When you specify the desired file size, PS immediately computes the required compression/quality value necessary to achieve that desired size. The AM code has only that computed Quality value and not the desired file size.
In other words, you still can't programmatically specify the desired file size.
As far as slices, I don't have a clue. I've never had the need to use them.

It will show all the files. To return it to the default settings, change TRUE for FALSE
