How to select 12-hour clock in iPhone?

I'm using my iPhone 3G in the UK and would prefer to use the 12-hour rather than 24-hour clock format. Unfortunately the "24-Hour Time" on/off slider in Settings is grayed out and stuck on 24-hour format. How can I make this selection active so I can turn off the 24-hour format?

Basically your stuffed. If you want a 12 hour clock you need to use the USA settings, the problem then is that the date format is up the spout and the calendar in month view starts with a Sunday! Come on Apple give us in the UK the 12 hour option!

  • How to enable 24 hour clock on Verizon STB?

Whilst I appreciate i'm in a country that appears unable to tell the time in any other way than using AM / PM symbols, I would very much like to have my time displayed in the format I - and other europeans - are used to: the 24 hour clock.
How do I enable it on my STB? I can't see the option. If i can't enable it, why can't i?

Sticky wicket, old sport.  Yet upon reflection (UK variant: reflexion) you may find that the country doesn't literally "tell the time" regardless of format.  Most often the inhabitants assume this duty.  You can therefore address your difficulty by asking anyone in the vicinity
Meantime (not a pun) should you find yourself without companions, look here:

Ansuz, you are right. If I set the Region Format to US, I can change 24H/12H, but not if it's set to UK. That's really odd.
Not really. 24H is part of the System International (a.k.a. "metric"). Since the U.K. has officially adopted it in place of the "English" system, 24H is the standard. Additionally since the other countries have used 24H notation for years and years, it was probably not realized that the U.K. has done it for only, what 20/30 years. Thus there are still people alive who remember the "old" system. I use 24H all the time since I was in the Air Force.

  • OS X 24-hour Clock (differences in OS X 10.5, 10.6)

I found out that if you set the Menu bar clock to display 24-hour in in OS X 10.5, it only affects that display. In menus and most everywhere else if you desire the time/date format to include 24-hour clock formatting, you must set up each parameter in 'International' in System Preferences (hours format, AM/PM). Once set there, the format applies universally (regardless how your Menu Bar clock is set). Here's how...
Setting for 24-hour clock in Leopard requires setting up the clock hours format (drop down pattern choices) to 00-23 hours (0-23 hours) AND deleting both 'AM' & 'PM' in the appropriate boxes.
Is there any more direct way to change the system clock from AM/PM 12-hour clock to 'military time' (aka 24-hour clock), in Leopard?
Curiously, in Snow Leopard (SL) all the above is changed by 'tweaks' in Clock settings that carry that selection to the international settings when the box for '24 hour clock' is checked. Also in SL, the (System Preferences>)Language & Text settings for Medium, Long, Full have become irrelevant (and don't affect the displayed info in menus or menu bar clock) when 24-hour clock is enabled in Time & Date. There now, if you select 24 hour clock, the AM/PM display becomes grayed out. Just some more interesting little 'tweaks'.
If you use use 24-hour clock (sometime soon) and need to set it with some machines on SL, and some on Leopard, the differences may get confusing.

Hi vegarskog, and a warm welcome to the forums!
While you may get help or a solution here, It's quite acceptable to start a new topic of your own, certainly feel free to start a new topic to attract more helpers to your particular situation, on this side it gets hard to respond to more than one person at a time & their particular situation, here's a link if as is often the case, it's hard to find out where to do it...

  • How do I access pictures from my iPhone saved in iCloud so that I can delete some of them from iCloud selectively?.

How do I access pictures from my iPhone saved in iCloud in a computer so that I can see & delete some of them from iCloud to free up the free 5GB?.

What Mac model do you have? What system version and iPhoto version are you running?  Do you meet these requirements:
The following is for this Apple document: iCloud: Photo Stream FAQ
What do I need to use Photo Stream?
To use Photo Stream, including Shared Photo Streams, you need an iCloud account, compatible devices, and up-to-date software:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 6.0 or later
Mac with OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.2 or later and iPhoto 9.4 or Aperture 3.4 or later
PC with Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista (Service Pack 2) and the iCloud Control Panel 2.1 or later for Windows
Apple TV (2nd generation) with Software Update 5.1 or later
You can still use Photo Stream without Shared Photo Streams if your devices meet these requirements:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 5.1 or later
Mac with OS X Lion v10.7.5 or later and iPhoto 9.2.2 or Aperture 3.2.3 or later
PC with Windows 7 or Windows Vista (Service Pack 2) and the iCloud Control Panel v2.0 or later for Windows
Apple TV (2nd generation) with Software Update 5.0 or later
If you do then sign in to the same iCloud account that's on your iPhone on your Mac via the System/iCloud Preference pane as shown in this screenshot:
Next setup iPhoto's Photo Stream preference pane as shown in this screenshot:
The photos on your iPhone must be in it's Photo Stream so make sure the iPhone has enabled Photo Stream as shown below:
Now you can select a photo in the Photo Stream section of iPhoto and control-click on it to delete it:

How do I get video from my iPhone to iMovie? The videos download to iPhoto, but are not "available" in iMovie when I select iPhoto in event library.

I haven't launched iMovie in a while, and I've used iPhoto to import many videos from my iPhone's Camera Roll since the last time I launched and used iMovie.
iMovie prompted me to create/update the thumbnails for my iPhoto videos, along with indicating no iPhoto videos will be available with iMovie until this is completed.
Not sure how to do this manually, but this may be your problem.

Thanks, David.  i thought i had it set correctly in Preferences in L&R. Being i was wearing my suspenders and belt at the same time i went back to L&R, cleared what was there and re-entered same to include unchecking and rechecking Time Format fgor 24-hour time.   It works now. Thanks again.

  • Iphone Time -24 Hour Clock

I use 24 the hour time setting vs. the 12 hour clock. Every so often the time reverts to the 12 hour clock. I have to go into "settings" and choose the 24 setting again. This happens once a week or so.
I have the latest iphone OS update. Anyone else have this problem?

I figured out that the problem occurs *every time a calendar event reminder on the iPhone pops up*: Both iPhone (FW 1.1.1) and MacBook (running Leopard 10.5) are set to 24h display, but when a calendar event on the iPhone pops up, the clock switches to AM/PM 12h display and needs to be switched back to 24h display via iPhone’s General Settings. Very annoying.

    melodyfred,
Quit iCal, go to System Preferences...>Language & Text>Formats>Region: and set/reset the appropriate region.
Log out/in or restart and iCal should display the a.m./p.m. format.

  • HT4528 How do you delete 'SAVED MESSAGES' on iPhone 5s

How do you delete 'SAVED MESSAGES' on iPhone 5s?  It's taking up about 10GB of 32 GB capacity.

After much searching on the web and reading many (sometimes amusing) posts on this topic here is what I have found.
In Settings>General>Usage my saved mesages were using 3.2Gb and no apparently immediate way of deleting them.
However as the good book says "seek and ye shall find".
SO this is where I went:
Settings>iCloud>Account> then scroll down to ADVANCED and select Mail; again scroll down to the bottom and select Advanced and yet again scroll to the bottom (well at least to DELETED MESSAGES) and tap on the line called Remove.
Here at last you will find a setting that enables you to select the period after which iOS will remove your deleted messages.
The shortest period is one day so you will haev to wait 24 hours to finally have that memory back but it should work and is a nice feature in iOS although it is well burried!!

Adjust distance from centre to put labels outside the circle.

  • 24 hour clock and day's date

    1. How do I change the clock time showing in top RH corner of my screen to a 24 hour clock in that spot?
    2. How do I add the day's date next to the time in top RH corner of screen?

    1) Click on the clock; Select Open Date & Time; Then Click on the Clock Tab and select 24-Hour Time
    2) The only means to do this I could find are these:
    http://paulstamatiou.com/2006/06/11/how-to-display-date-in-os-x-menu-bar
    **edit**
Though in Leopard, i think the process has changed a bit.
You goto System Preferences; Then click on International; Then the Formats Tab; Then Click Customize next to the Date section
    hope these help!!
