How to 'Select All Layers' when background is locked?

I've just tried to Select > All Layers and was very surprised when the Background, a locked layer, was not included in the selection. Is it possible to select all layers, included the background?

This could be a tricky one and needs some explanation. I have about 1600 images to process. I would prefer to do so from within InDesign, to which the images are linked. I want to apply Smart Filters to all the images. That's only a part of the story, but it will do for the moment.
Method 1 and Why it Won't Work
I could apply a Smart Filter by choosing a certain image in InDesign; selecting Edit Original and the image opens in PS. Then I was hoping to use Select All Layers and apply a Smart Filter. But... Select All Layers doesn't select all layers, and you can't apply a Smart Filter unless all layers are selected.
Method 2 and Why it Won't Work
I could open the images within PS by using Open as Smart Object, which DOES select all the layers and allows you to apply a Smart Filter. But for a very good reason (I can explain the reason, but it would take a few more paragraphs), I want to open the images from within InDesign. So, method 2 is unsuitable.
Method 3 and Why it Won't Work
I could batch all the images using an Action to unlock the Background. But, not all my 1600 images have a background. Some have ordinary unlocked layers, some have text layers. I could set up an Action to unlock Background layers (double-click, followed by a Return to name the layer "layer 0"), but if the Action came across a text layer on the bottom -- big problem. For a text layer, double-click followed by a Return does nothing. I'd have one locked-up Action.
Method 4 - A script working from within InDesign could open the images as Smart Objects -- but I'm not a script man.
Seems a bit silly that Select All Layers doesn't allow me to select all layers.

Is there a way to select all layers at once?

I have a bunch of layers, WITHOUT holding down control and clicking each one, one by one, is there a button or shortcut to just auto highlight all the layers, Im trying to move them around evenly together on the canvase at once.

You can also Select all Layers by clicking on the top, or the bottom, then holding down Shift and clicking on the other (top, or bottom). That will Select the Background, but as Conroy points out, it cannot be Moved, so you might not want to use that, depending on what your next operation will be.
If you do wish to perform certain operations, including the Background Layer, you can first Dbl-click on it, and convert it to a "regular" Layer.

i would like to know, how to select in SQL all the columns names from a table with their datatypes so that i get something like this :

Hi,
The data dictionary view USER_TAB_COLUMNS has one row for every column in every table in your schema. The columns TABLE_NAME, COLUMN_NAME and DATA_TYPE have all the information you need.
Another data dictionary view, USER_TABLES, may be useful, too. It has one row pre table.

1) Do you want "user dir" (watever that is) or do you wnat the last accessed directory? Last accessed by what/whom?
2) Applets can't access the local file sytem, and for good reason, unless they're signed and the client has given permission.

The only way to "know" if an agent is not into any equipe (team) is to search into the EQUIPE_AGENTS table, and if we do not find the ID of the agent into this table, then we know that this agent is not into any EQUIPE (team).
I don't know ho to translate this into SQL.And that's what my query does. It uses an OUTER JOIN so that a result record is returned whether or not there is a record in EQUIPE_AGENTS. And the check for EQUIPE_ID is NULL restricts the result set to those where there IS NOT a record in EQUIPE_AGENTS.
A more traditional way would be to use NOT IN or NOT EXISTS clauses, but they can prove inefficient.

Do anyone have a script to select all layers based on either name or color label? Possibly using search but not necessarily?

If you search this forum you will find script that will process all layers in a document. You can modify one if them to skip the layers you do not want to process do nothing to the. The process uses recursion to process layers within layer groups,.

How to select (all black) image outline using script

hi all,
we have thousands of clipart images to convert from wmf to png. We need to apply some processing to each image. We do this by selecting the black outline with contiguous off so it selects all the black. We then inverse the selection and apply processing to the remaining color parts of the image, leaving the black untouched. We can easily automate all of the steps excluding the first black outline selection.
anybody have any idea how we can do this?
alternatively should we do this in illustrator when we do the conversion from wmf to png and create layers there?

Thanks Michael, we're trying this now.
Yes images are very similar in the fact that the have a complex hand drawn pure black outline with gradient colour inside.
This gradient being a WMF is only linited to 16 steps, so the banding occurs. This is especially noticable when enlarged.
so the purpose of the surface blur processing is to smooth this banding in the output png image, but keep the black outline sharp and crisp.

How does Photoshop blend layers when stitching panoramas?

When I make panoramas in Photoshop CS6 (after selecting and preparing individual images in LR4), I sometimes wish to modify Photoshop's automatic blending of layers. An example is when a moving person is in two or more adjacent frames & I wish to use a version from a different frame than PS selects. The layer masks are all either pure white or pure black, thus selecting the portions of each frame that is used, but with no gray portions for blending. Opacity of all layers is 100%. So, some other invisible-to-me mechanism is being used to seamlessly blend the layers. When I try to select portions of a different frame (in areas of overlap) by painting white on a mask and black on layer masks above it in the stack, I can partially make visible the desired area but it appears as partially transparent & thus low contrast. How can I get full control of what is included in the final composite?

The selection of what pixels will go into the final image just appears to be done with a white or black mask, and with the most recent versions the masks overlap a bit so you can do things like resize the image or whatever before merging them together and not have transparent edges show up.
For blending, though, I believe Photomerge just alters the colors of the image pixels of each layer to match the colors. This makes it difficult or near impossible to manually tidy up the results. Usually I find that if I have mis-alignment I need to do something different to the input data (like match the exposures better in Camera Raw or something) to get Photomerge to more perfectly stitch them. I've never had any luck trying to adjust things after the fact.
Frankly it's always something I wondered whether they'd polish up and make better someday.
