How to select black with the eyedropper tool?

Hi,
I am attempting to lighten a black top my customer is wearing in a yoga DVD, or change it's color. I have successfully managed to make the grass greener, by using the eyedropper tool and then adjusting the range and tolerance handles to isolate the grass. But this is not working with the black top. I have many different settings and cannot isolate the black - in fact not even close, the destaturated preview is showing a very small percentage of the image is selected and the black not at all. Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated.

In this case, forget the eyedropper.
Reset your HSL settings then adjust only the Luma tolerances, pulling the white end down until you've isolated the luma range you want. Then use a vignette or custom shape to isolate the key to shirt.

Each individual SubPathItem’s Shape Operation can be changed manually later on and their order can also be changed.
Could you please post a screenshot to illustrate your specific issue?

How to select paths with the same stroke width

I would like to know how to select all the paths inside a document whose stroke width are equal to 0.361 points

How to hide markups with the rectangle tool from printing

Using the rectangle tool and applying the color white we use this as a white-out tool to hide text from the actual document (such as sensitive information)
However, when I go to print, on the printer settings it allows me to print the document, that shows the information that was "hidden" with our rectangle tool.
How can I restrict a user to only print what is displayed on the screen??

I am afraid you have come across the Live Rectangle bug which is limited to the MAC versions starting with 10.7 and 10.8, but not 10.9 (Mavericks), see this thread linked to below.

So a switch to Mavericks with a reinstallation might be the way to solve it here and now.
To get round it in each case, it is possible to Expand the Live Rectangles to get normal old fashioned rectangles, or to Pathfinder>Unite, or to use the Scale Tool.
A more permanent way round that is to create normal old fashioned rectangles, after running the free script created by Pawel, see this thread with download link:

The eyedropper tool does not work with a hue saturation adjustment layer

I am using PS CC 2014, and the problem I am having is that when I want to use the eyedropper tool to adjust the colour range affected by a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer, rather than selecting the colour in the Properties window for the adjustment layer, use of the eyedropper closes the properties window and changes the foreground colour in my palette.
Here's the real hitch... the same thing happened to me at school last night where a) the Mac's are older and b) CS6 is still used.
It's something with my user settings, to be sure, because the prof logged into his account on the Mac I was using in class to test it out, and it worked for him; we logged back into my account and it still did not work for mine.
Any ideas?

Indeed Trevor, that did solve the problem. Clearly it was something I changed... wish I knew what. But, I have a list of all the settings changes I made before, so I can figure it out by making one at a time then checking...

How about having the Pointer Tool set as your main tool and setting the Marquee Tool as your "Command tool" (i.e., the one that shows up by pressing the Command Key).
Then you can hold down the Command key, make your Marquee selection, let go of the Command key and your back to the pointer, then Option-Drag the selection to a new location.
From the LP7 Reference (pp.16-17):
"When editing objects graphically, you always have two tools available at the mouse pointer position: one is already active, the other is activated by holding down Command. ... To assign a tool to Command, click on the desired tool in the Toolbox, with Command depressed."

I am trying to print using the black and white cartridge only because magenta is out of ink but I'm getting the following error message in HP Photosmart C7200 series print dialog:
The printer is out of ink.
The following ink cartridges are empty: Magenta. Replace these ink cartridges to resume printing.
How can I print with the black and white cartridge only?

I am absolutely disgusted by this; clearly a scam from HP to make more money by selling extra ink cartridges!! I will make sure to never buy any products from the shoddy rip off merchants at HP ever again!!

How can you fix transparency less than 100% when drawing multiple shapes with the pencil tool?

I draw a (fill only) shape at 50% with the pencil tool and when I go to draw another, the transparency jumps back to 100%. I would like it to stay at 50% for every mark I make, anyone know how? I wish to build up multiple semi-translucent vector shapes like in the attached image.

In the bottom of the Appearance Palette, toggle the (deep breath) New Art Maintains Appearance / New Art Has Basic Appearance button (pant pant).
I leave it to you to do three things:
1. Figure out which state of that stupidly-designed single button means which setting.
2. Figure out if the stupidly-designed tooltip that appears when you hover over that stupid button means:
A. ...that what the tooltip reads is the current setting, or...
B. ...that what the tooltip reads is the setting you will get if you click the stupidly-designed single button.
3. Remember what you figured out the next time you need to visit that stupidly-designed button.
Adobe doesn't understand this is a simple yes/no decision, and that a far more intuitive simple labeled checkbox will do.

I just noticed that one of the restore methods you posted was to put it into Disk Mode First rather than just use the resstore straight off, I Have tried that and seems to have solved the problem, If it has thank you. previously I have only tried just restoring it skipping this extra step. Hope my iPod stays healthy, if it doesnt its a warrenty job me thinks any way thanks again

How to create a wavy line with the Pen Tool?

Let me start by saying that I am a novice to Adobe CS4, including PS.
I am trying to follow this tutorial: http://www.rnel.net/tutorial/Photoshop/11541 but I can not even get the pen to draw wavvy line. I keep get a straight line. To say the least, I am only able to complete creating the file.
