How to select subtitle tracks?

I have a project with 10 subtitle tracks. Now, How do I set this up so viewers can choose which language they want? I was thinking I would create a menu that would have buttons to select, but if I right click a button to target, there is no option to choose a a subtitle track. Obviously, there is something right in front of my face that I am completely missing, and I can't find anything in the maual.
Thanks for the help.

This is really simple and you have 2 possibilities to deal with the problem. If you did not mark each subtitle stream with its corresponding language, this is the time to do it. Either at the left of each subtitle stream or in Inspector, there is a drop-down menu that lists languages defined by DVD-Video Spec.
Once your languages are marked, you can leave the situation as it is and trust the user to find the right subtitle stream by pressing "Subtitle" button on their remote.
The other possibility is to make a set-up menu with buttons which will set the correct subtitle stream. The setting is in the Advanced tab of the Inspector for each button. Look at the commercially available DVDs from any major American studio for inspiration.

  • Any idea on how to select audio track in Apple TV?

I have a movie with two audio tracks: 1. English 2. French
All applications are starting with the track 1 including iTunes. I don't know why but when watching it with the Apple TV it is with track 2. And I can't find a way to select the available tracks for a movie in Apple TV.

Press and hold the play button to reveal your audio track options.
If you don't actually need one or the other audio tracks you could always turn one off using Quicktime Pro if you have it.

  • Selecting multiple tracks for score purposes

I posted an earlier question about how to have the score reflect multiple tracks. What I have discovered is that the Score mode only displays the selected track, although the Piano Roll mode, which I have used for composing, will display all selected regions. I have researched the forum entries and no one seems to have an answer as to how to select multiple tracks. Apple-A doesn't work on tracks, and shift-click or apple-click doesn't either. What is the secret? Previous replies to others' similar questions actually questioned why you need it anyway. Multiple track scoring needs it!
    Help, please.
    Herb

Fox, I appreciate the time you must take to answer all these questions. I did what you suggested, but it still is not displaying the two instrument tracks I set up in a score set. Some more interesting phenomena: I tried merging regions, but got a composite staff that wouldn't work. When I undid the merge, an amazing thing happened: The score showed both parts! But as soon as I selected a region, the score reverted to the one track. The only other clue to the problem is that the two original regions were set up as midi, but the notes were entered with the step entry keyboard.
Any ideas? Should I dump preferences and restart (an old Final Cut Pro technique)?

  • HT2499 How can I watch a movie and have two subtitle tracks at once?

How can I watch a DVD using Mountain Lion's DVD player with multiple subtitle tracks, such as english and chinese, simultaineously?

This will depend on the media player. I do not believe DVD Player in OS X offers this, and don't think even versatile players like VLC or MPlayer support it. Most give you the option for one subtitle track at a time.
One option is to use a transencoder like Handbrake to rip the DVD and "burn in" one of the subtitle tracks but include the others. This way the burned in one will always display, and you can then enable the second one. It's a bit of a workaround, but will ultimately do what you're looking for.

  • How to select textFrames with tracking different to 0 (zero)?

How to select textFrames with tracking different to zero (greater or smaller than zero)?
    Thanks.

    Hi All,
Thanks for your help. The orignal clips are from Sony PMW F3 camera and I have got Dimensions: 1920 × 1080, Codecs: MPEG-2 Video, Linear PCM, Timecode, Color profile: HD (1-1-1), Total bit rate: 36,623.
The other camera has given me .MTS files which I have converted in MPEG-2 also. I used Wondershare Video Converter to convert second cameras clip.
I don't think the clips are matching with first camera's clips because still that is saying the same thing.

  • Record a selected Video, Audio and Subtitle track in low res for proof.

I am moving my DVD Authoring from Spruce Maestro to DVD Studio Pro.
The DVDs I create have 25 languages on them that need to be proofed by 25 different people all over the world. In the Spruce system I could just manually record the output with whatever video, audio and subtitle track that needed to be proofed in a WMV file format and then email the proof version before final burn.
Now in DVD Studio Pro and can not seem to get an analog output to do a manual record. I have purchased an additional video card for my Mac Pro that has S-Video and that does not work. I have the DVI to S-Video converter cable but I can not select that output when it is active. I have tried the export function but that only changes the m2v file into a mpg file, so that does not work.
Do you have any other suggestions - this is very important for my operation.
    Thank you, Ron Cole 209-604-5415

very interesting. I do a lot with translation, though my maximum has been 16 languages on a single disc.
There are a couple things you could do.
    1) One is just to do a screen capture using something like Screenflow to capture and process the single streams you want to output.
    2) I think the first approach is a little arduous. Better would be to use the power of Final Cut even before you get to DVD SP. Unfortunately I don't know your entire workflow. But subtitles can now be done in Final Cut and then carry forward into DVD SP. I'd lay out my edit and soundtrack and subtitles in FCP, and then export a file of my choice and size and have it automatically uploaded. This could be done right out of FCP or by creating a batch in Compressor. Changes, as they came back, would be applied in FCP. Once you had final approval (golden words), I'd move into Compressor to create M2v and ac3 files.
My projects are done with similar workflows. I then have to ship off translated graphics for the DVD menus. That can be dealt with at the end in a finalized disc or preferably sending off stills for an early approval.
    Make sense?

  • How do I select multiple tracks in iTunes?

It's like a hold down control and something else, and then drag the curser to select the songs you want selected. I'm not sure what this shortcut is. Again, I want to select multiple tracks on iTunes so I can move files or delete them. Simply selecting all won't work because the files are different names. Anyone know this shortcut? Thanks!

If you click a track, hold down shift, and then click another one, it will select all the tracks between those two. Holding down command (the apple key) will allow you to select/deselect individual tracks.

  • How to select a whole album to play without selecting each track individually in iTunes 12.1.2 for  Mac book pro OS 10.9.5

The only way that I am able to play a whole album is to select each track to play up next.  This extremely tedious.  There must be some way to select the whole album to play.

    Hello Achates:
I did not read the rather long post. If you wish to reinstall OS X 10.4, use your software install DVD. Backup is essential. To minimize your risk, I would use an archive and install:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
In that way, you will have a fresh copy of OS X and your current settings will be preserved.
Incidentally, I do not agree that the printer problem is best solved by reinstalling OS X. I have had HP printers for sometime and, on one occasion, had difficulty after an upgrade. HP technical support walked me through uninstalling all traces of the HP driver and then reinstalling.

  • Link Menu Buttons to Subtitle Track in Encore DVD 2.0?

I desperately need help with subtitles in DVD 2.0. I did: “Timeline > Add Subtitle Track” on each of my 10 timelines. I added a few subtitle texts to check how it works. So far so good. I created a submenu with “Select Subtitle, etc.” Then I tried to ‘link’ the Subtitle Button on this menu to subtitle track #1 – but it wasn't available in the Subtitle Button’s Properties panel’s Link drop down menu (and the Override drop down menu was grayed out). The Adobe Encore DVD 2.0 Manual says (on p. 222) that “You can set the audio or subtitle track with any link control (such as End Action or Override) in the Properties panel.” This doesn't seem to be the case unless I am doing something wrong (most probably). Also, on the same page, the manual says that “2. Select a button to set … the subtitle track… 3. In the Properties panel, choose Specify Other from the Link pop-up menu.” There is no “Specify Other” selection in the list. (One comment: The subtitle track does not show up in the Project panel – may be this is the problem?) I would appreciate any help. Thanks, Laci.

HI Bill, I have another subtitle question. I finished my first (big) Encore DVD 2.0 project yesterday (). I build the DVD image but when I tried to burn it to a DVD disk it turned out that the project has about 122 million more bytes than what would fit on the disk (). So, with PE 7, I edited some of the 9 movies in the project (exported them with same name, to the same place as during the first time) and I opened the Encore project.  I noticed that it used the old (imported by Encore) avi files. Then I did something not very smart: deleted the old (and long) avi. files from the project and imported the edited (and shorter) new avi files. At this point, I noticed, that my laboriously created subtitles disappeared  .
Do these subtitles still exist somewhere? There is a file in the project, called "SpuSplit.ses" in the SubtitleDataFiles folder but I do not know how to open it or if it would help at all. More important: What should I do next time to save the subtitles (or audio for that matter) if I still want to make some (minor) editing on my project after building the DVD?  (I assume that I have to create the subtitles in script files and then import them as many times as I want. Am I right?)
    Thanks for any help, Laci.
(BTW, I uploaded my picture and it is in 'My Profile' but does not show up with these massages.)

After recording an old audio tape, how do I insert track (song) numbers?

    Hi Wunghnu,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The article below will show you how to send a song from Garageband to iTunes.  You can enter song information in the Share dialog box.
GarageBand '11: Send a song to iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH1794
Also from within iTunes, you can edit song information as well.  Here's how:

    Editing Info
Each audio or video file in iTunes has several settings and tags that can be easily modified. These options can be accessed by selecting any file in the iTunes browser windows and selecting "Get Info" from the File menu. You can add song lyrics, artwork and set special playback options. The "Info" tab lets you edit information about the file including artist and album info.

  • HT1849 how do i get track info to appear on car cd player

how do i get track info to appear on car cd player

In iTunes, select all of the tracks that are on the same album (you can select mulitple items by holding down the command key and clicking on each item), right click and select "get info". Click on the Info tab and in the Album Artist field, type in the album artist. For example if you were to rip a Red Hot Chili Peppers CD, just put in Red Hot Chili Peppers and press ok. After that, they should all group into the same album.

  • How to move sound track with video to another drive

If I want to work on a project on another Mac, I copy the iMovie Events and Projects folders to a portable drive, then drag them into the correct folders of the other Mac. (Not sure if this is the best way, but it works.) But the sound track is missing if I don't have the same songs in that Mac's iTunes. What's the best way to keep the song with the project when I transfer to another Mac?

I tried the Consolidate command, and I see how it works, copying the events or clips to another >drive. But how does the music track get transferred? I don't see it in the copied folder.
If you followed the instructions, the music track is there. It is probably in the Project file. If you right click on the RCPROJECT file, select "Show Package Contents" and see if you can spot it.
If I consolidate from one computer to a portable drive, what happens when I plug the portable >drive into another computer? Does iMovie just see the project and events on the external drive? Or >do I have to drag them to the new computer's drive? What about the music tracks? Do I have to >import them into the other computer's iTunes?
Yes, iMovie sees the external drive, and you can work on your movie. If you prefer, you could drag the RCPROJECT file to the Movies/iMovie Events Folder and then run the Consolidate command again to move everything to the new computer, but you really don't need to. It should work fine on the external drive.
The external drive must be formatted as Mac OX Extended (journaled)

  • Multiple language / subtitle tracks?

m4v files can have multiple audio and subtitle tracks, I have been told. But when I stream these from my iTunes to my ATV2, I cannot select subtitles, not even turn them on/off. Am I missing something?

Subtitles come up fine for me on ATV2. I also use Handbrake (v0.95) and got my subtitles by chosing the non-Bitmap English Text closed captions.
I've seen some movies have multiple bitmap tracks and wonder if those are for scenes where a character is speaking a foreign tongue (like when a monster talks to Han Solo).
