How To Send A Private Message

A private message is similar to an email. You can send and receive messages from anyone on the Forum without exchanging any personal information.
To send a Private Message (or PM):
1. Click on the screen name of the user, you want to contact.
2. The person’s profile page will open. At the right hand side, under Contact Me options, click on the “Send this user a private message” link.
3. This will open a window to create the message you want to send. Write an appropriate Message Subject and then write the main message in the Message Body.
4. Like creating a post, you can change font, color, size of the text and use various other utility buttons to create an appropriate message. When you are finished, click on Send Message.
Your message is now sent.
If somebody sends you a message, there will be a blue envelope icon right beside the Log Out link. To check your message box, click on the envelope icon.

    How can I send a private message to someone on this forum - a message to him/her not shown on the forum - like on other bulletin boards, usually via the webmaster?

    I have to agree with Steve here.
    I've never run across a tech forum where one could not send PMs to other members.
    Sometimes one gets to working on a specific problem one has and it simplifies things, and helps not to encumber the board with long threads/posts that are, perhaps, not a problem that affects a lot of people.
    It's not about email. I have my email hidden (least I hope so!). I give out my cable modem box's address only very selectively.
    It's also nice to send a thank to someone who solved your.
    I don't see why courtesy should be excluded from any Forum--whether the forum's raison d'etre is technical or social. The vast majority of fora are a mixture of the two. Or, imo, they should be.
    This forum, in particular, has somewhat well-deserved rep for non-responsiveness to iPod newbie questions. The first thread I put up didn't receive an answer for months. I haven't checked it again, but I'd be surprised if an answer was ever posted. A helpful answer that is.
    I've made some good 'Net friends thru the fora.
    So, let's take the ties off, make friends, solve our problems and teach each other the little tricks that programmers love to sneak into software (for you corporate types, and those of you in Rio Linda, that's kind of like "networking" but without the ulterior motive).
    I'm no newbie, but I'm no programmer or engineer either. I know my limits.
    Computer users, esp those who use Windows, often have strange issues unlike the divine Mac. (I don't have a problem with Macs. If I had the cash, I'd have a Mac laptop or desktop, or both if I really had the money.
    I was using Macs before a lot of people with iPods were even born, starting with a hard driveless MacPlus--nine in B/W screen with MacWrite for the H.S. newspaper--in 1986, but I HATE those commericals!)
    OK! Enough of this! I'm off to buy an 80GB Video iPod.<

    how to send a text message to a group of people and save the list for next time from an iphone 4s?

    Hey there ipremacha,
    It sounds like you need to enable Text Message Forwarding on your iPhone for your iPad to send MMS/SMS messages through your phone.
    Connect your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac using Continuity
    Go to Messages > Text Message Forwarding, and enable the device(s) you would like to forward messages to.
    Your Mac, iPad, or iPod touch will display a code. Enter this code on your iPhone to verify the SMS feature.
    Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

    ok..try this..insert the ip address of the server where ur app server is
    running . i understand ur client and server is running on diff machines.
    ip address 127.0.0.1 is for local host. it tries to look for the server in
    same system as the client.
    substitue ip address of server in below line instead of 127.0..0.1
    env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "iiop://127.0.0.1:3700/");

  • How to send SMS ( Short Message Service ) from java code

    Hi
    How to send SMS ( Short Message Service ) from java code.
    Thanks
    Gaurav

    Do you need to receive SMS? If you need to receive SMS, you will need to host your own GSM device or modem so that people can send you SMS.
    If not, you can just use internet SMS gateways like clickatell as mentioned above will do the work, and post to them by HTTP, XML or email. The cost is about 6-8 cents per SMS. There are cheaper services, but not always reliable. If you need to host your own GSM device, you can use software like http://www.kannel.org (GPL Open Source) or http://www.visualgsm.com. Alternatively, you may obtain a shortcode from your Telco - but these come with monthly subscription of maybe one or two hundreds.

  • How do I send a private message to someone who has posted a previous question or answer?

    I have a similar question to one which was posted earlier and I would like to contact the person who asked this question, to see if the advice received helped sort out his problem

    Molly K wrote:
    AdrianB,
    Unfortunately, our current system doesn't have private messaging functionality.
    If the thread was recent, the person you are looking for may still be subscribed to it. If they are, then you can post to the thread and a notification will be sent to them and they may respond to you.
    If the thread wasn't recent, then the notifications to it have probably all expired. The best thing to do in this case would be to post a new question and reference the old thread in your question. The original person may reply to it or other users may reply and let you know their opinion of the advice given.
    Thanks,

    What qualifies as "recent"? In other words, how long until subscriptions have expired?

  • How to send a JMS message to a remote Queue?

    Hi,
    I know how to create a JMS message and send it to an MDB that listens to a topic in the same container in which the JMS is created.
    In other words, if I have the following MDB:
    @MessageDriven(mappedName = "jms/MyQueue", ...)
    public class MyMDB implements MessageListener {
    Elsewhere in my JEE app I can create a Queue like this:
    @Resource(mappedName = "jms/MyQueue")
    Queue queue;
    and use it to send a message to the MDB.
    But How can I send a message to an MDB that's deployed in another app server on another machine in the network? Both of the app servers are Glassfish.
    Thanks in advance.
    Edited by: EJP on 9/08/2011 21:49: fixed your meaningless title

    Hi,
    The first thing I would like to suggest is, we never/can't send message directly to MDB. We always send/receive message(s) to/from the destination. In case of MDB, the application server register the MDB as message listener against particular destination, and invoked the onMessage() method when message arrives on particular destination.
    If I am not wrong, what you want to achieve is asynchronous communication between two applications deployed in two different machine. In your case, you want your one application works as message producer and other act as an message consumer, and both are deployed in different machine.
    In this situations, you only need to configure the JMS administration object, connection factories and destinations, on one Application server and configure other application server to use those configuration using JMS resource adapter. you can well achieve this by configuring the JMS Resource Adapter. you need to check the Glassfish documentation.
    If you don't want to break the JMS specification, always communicate with Messaging Provider through Resource Adapter.
    I hope this helps.

  • How to send the same message to two SMTP servers

    hi,
    I need to send a message to two different SMTP servers.
    I want to avoid the creation of new MimeMessage with a new Session.
    the only way I've found was to keep a reference to the Properties instance that was used in the Session creation, and modify its "mail.smtp.host" property.
    Is there another way? I must be missing something.
    thanks,
    ofer

    hi,
    I've already found the solution, so I'll post it here.
    first I'll explain the purpose:
    I needed to send the same message to a normal email server, and (for some of the recipients) to a special SMTP server that is on a different machine.
    the following code demonstrate the solution.
    thanks for your help.
    ofer
    ----------code---------------
    public class MultipleSendTest {
    private final static Session server1 = createSession("somesmtp_server.com");
    private final static Session _server2 = createSession("another_smtp_server.com");
    public static void main(String args[]) throws Exception {
    //create the message
    MimeMessage m = new MimeMessage(_server1);
    m.setText("body text");
    m.addRecipients(Message.RecipientType.TO, "[email protected]");
    m.setFrom(new InternetAddress("[email protected]"));
    //send
    send(m, _server1);
    send(m, _server2);
    private static void send(MimeMessage message, Session session) {
    //for logging only
    String host = session.getProperty("mail.smtp.host");
    try {
    Transport transport = session.getTransport("smtp");
    transport.connect();
    transport.sendMessage(message, message.getAllRecipients());
    System.out.println("sent to " + host);
    transport.close();
    } catch (MessagingException e) {
    System.out.println("failed to send to " + host);
    private static Session createSession(String host) {
    Properties properties = new Properties();
    properties.setProperty("mail.smtp.host", host);
    return Session.getInstance(properties);

    HI,
    This is fairly generic (for iChat 4) although some links are out of date.
    Start at the second menu down that says "Get a Screen Name"
    http://www.ralphjohns.co.uk/versions/ichatvers4/howtos4.html
    iChat 5 is virtually no different
    iChat 6 adds the Yahoo option.
    As has been said more specific info from yourself will enable a much more detailed reponse from us.

  • How to send HTML as message body using SMTP

    I need to send HTML formatted emails. I used the Report Generation Toolkit to build my HTML document and make sure I had all of the formatting right. Then I modified the Save Report To File.vi to also give me the HTML text string on an output connector and I wire this string to the message input on the SMTP Email Send Message.vi.
    I receive the email OK, but all I see is the HTML code in the message body. What can I do to make sure that the email displays the message correctly.
    I use Outlook and I know it will receive and display HTML emails, I get them all the time.
    I would appreciate any help.

    Hi Dgw,
    it is similar. You must change message MINE content-type to "text/html" type. Because everyone document in email protocol have set MINE content-type. It is inforamtion for email servers and for email cients (Thunderbird, Outlook and etc.)
    For sendning mail with attachments you must use and modified "SMTP Send Multiple Attachments.vi" - if you can do backup of this VI and subVIs. Open Diagram of "SMTP Send Multiple Attachments.vi" after "SMTP Send Multiple
    Attachments Message.vi" and ther is VI "MIME Send Data Attachment.vi" - have control "MIME content-type" but code from NI don't use it.
    And like as my previous message, create new string control "MINE content-type" and take out this control to "main" Email VI.
    And embedd
    ed file you set up in control-cluster "attachments". I don't test it, but I mind thet must working :-)
    Have nice day
