How to send text message without knowing carrier

I tried to send a text message to someone whose phone number is all I have. The app keeping auto inserting a 1 before the out of state tel #. I then get a prompt to use a 10 digit number which is what I entered. How to force the message to go through? Or do I need to download one of those free text apps for iphone? iphone 4.

Hello,
Generally when using the Messages.app on an iPhone, using the 10-digit method work (i.e 123-456-7890)
Make sure you are updated the latest firmware, although no firmware has updated the messages app yet.
Hope this helps.

umm... you don't. SMS is a function of the BlackBerry, not your PC.
There could a desktop software for SMS, but I don't know what it would be.
**edit, well this looks like it would work.

  • How to send text messages on iPad 2

I just bought my iPad 2 and I can't figure out how to send text messages. Can some one help me out please

Settings > Messages. Sign in with your Apple ID.
Then open the green Messages app, click this to start a new conversation. Select a contact who is also running iOS 5 and has iMessage enabled and text away.

Hi guys, I want to send text messages so several person without being an SMS as an group chat.
Why do I want it?? Well it's mostly to send Christmas greetings to several persons without they know to whom I send to because many of them dot even know each other.. And I don't want the recipients to see the numbers of other recipients..
I've read in the forum that you can turn off the "group messaging" in the "messages" bar. However i don't have that, so is there any other ways I can aens text without it being an SMS as group????

  • IPod touch - text messaging - without wifi?

I've seen this question in the archives, but nothing since 2012.
Is it possible for the latest generation iPod Touch to send text messages without a wifi connection?
Perhaps there's an app for this?
    Thanks -

No, not at all.  Any texting app or even emailing a text to a recipient carrier's gateway will require an internet data connection.  An iPod Touch only has one single way to interact with the internet at all - that is wifi.
Without wifi and with no other form of communication built into the device, how on earth could it send any message?  Magic?
There are internet-based texting apps for iPod Touches and wifi-only iPads, but those apps use an internet connection to actually send or receive anything.

  • IPhone 4S does everything apart from send text messages

Yesterday my new 16GB iPhone 4S arrived and I upgrade my simcard from normal sim to micro-sim. Since using it, it can do everything related to data (internet, iMessage etc.), it can make calls and receive texts but it just won't send text messages (red exclimation mark after a few seconds of sending) and I don't understand why. Ive tried turning iMessage off and sending it that way, still with no luck. I find his extremely strange as I can receive text message perfectly fine (in green bubbles, so they're definitely not iMessages). I've phoned O2 but they don't think it's a fault at their end. The only thing they can think of is if their masts are down. Yet I have a friend on the same network sending text messages without fail.
Hopefully someone can help as this is driving me nuts.

    You're welcome.
Then call AppleCare or make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby.

Having horrible service with 4GLTE I have had 3G for several weeks (I am not the only person I know having this problem), I have reset my network settings and it did not resolve the issue.  I am also unable to send SMS and text messages without them either failing or not sending at all.  Is there an outage in the Cleveland, Ohio area (zip codes 44129, 44134, 44137) or anything else I can do to resolve this issue?

Not that I'm a Verizon employee, but I have experience in the field. An LTE tower will only extend up to, on a perfect day, with no elevation, 6-7 miles. On a typical day, you will be lucky at four (4) miles. The three ZIP codes you've given are all within about a 12 mile radius. That would mean that 2-3 towers are currently down at the same time, and Verizon would know about it within the hour. Being it's Cleveland, I'm sure they would receive numerous calls regarding an outage of that size.
My point is that if you're having issues in all three ZIP codes, chances are it's a phone issue. If you're handset is simply not receiving LTE, but still receiving 3G, that would signify a SIM card issue. You need to get your SIM card replaced.

  • How can i get copied to my 14 year-old daughter's text messages without her knowledge?

how can i get copied to my 14 year-old daughter's text messages without her knowledge?

Unless the cell carrier would provide such a service, which if they do would only be available to you if you are the owner of her cell account, then it's not possible without hacking the iPhone, something we cannot discuss here. And if she has the account in her name, then as SeaBeast suggested such hacking may well be illegal. Even 14-year-olds have privacy rights. You would have to discuss that with a lawyer, though.
    Regards.

  • Hello do anyone know how to forward text messages to email

Hello do anyone know how to forward text messages to your email???

Very simple, at least on my Stratosphere. Tap on the message, then tap the Menu button and select Forward. In the To field, enter the desired e-mail address (or start typing a name from your contacts; it will pick up e-mail addresses from there). Press Send, and it goes.

  • I can only text through ordinary message when not connected to the internet to someone, but when I am connected, it is automatically assumed as iMessage. How will I text ordinarily without turning off the net? Thank you!

I am from the Philippines btw. What I meant is, I cannot text someone ordinarily when the net is turned on, and it assumes to be texting through iMessage. How will I text someone without turning off the internet in an ordinary way, not in iMessage? Thank you.

I Tried that already, but if i turned it off, I cannot send an imessage to people I want to text through imessage. There are people in my contacts that when I text, it is automatically as text message, while there are some that when I text, it is through iMessage automatically, and I just want through text message also. And for the latter, I still need to turn off the wifi in my phone for them to be texted through iMessage, which is more hassle.
