How to separate iTunes accounts on one Apple ID

When my wife and son each bought an iPhone 5, I put my Apple ID account on their phones so they could purchase apps. At that time I just had a plain ol' dumb phone.
Last November I purchased an iPhone 5S to use on my company's account. Of course, I used my Apple ID account to purchase apps.
Just for clarity, their phones are on Verizon and mine is on ATT.
This caused various issues so I created Apple IDs for each of them, although I don't know if my son has ever logged in with it.
My wife took her phone to Verizon to try and get help and was told that we need to disassociate their phones with my iTunes account. He admitted, though, that he's not an iPhone expert and suggested we call Apple.
I'm guessing someone has dealt with issue and may be able to

You're welcome.
That means the same shared Apple ID is being used by iMessage on their devices. You can have a different Apple ID used for the iTunes and App Store and one for iMessage and FaceTime. You are seeing iMessages only which is by design when using the same Apple ID for iMessage on multiple iOS devices and Apple computers, not all text messages as in SMS/MMS.
They can log out of iMessage with the shared Apple ID at Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > Apple ID. Select the Apple ID and at the menui window that appears, select Sign Out. They sign back in with their Apple ID to register their cell phone number with their Apple ID email address. The same with FaceTime on each device.

How do I set up two separate iTunes accounts on one MacBook Pro in order to manage the wife's iPhone and my iPhone (with separate info on each of course) ? Can this be done? A little step by step would be greatly appreciated; just short step by step though, I can follow fairly well.
    Kindest Regards,

You would each need to use your own user account on the Mac, you can do this at system preferences > users & groups.

How can I maintain two separate itunes accounts on one single device (iPhone 4) without erasing either set of data when syncing with itunes?

    Hi,
Depends on what you trying to setup but for purchases, you can roll down at the very end of the iTunes/AppStore pages to logout of your current account and then login into a different one.  Then your purchase will be billded to this new account.  Everything will sync as you used to but in order to use the purchased content in iTunes or other devices, you will need to authorize them (you can have up to 5 devices authorized for an account).

My wife and I both have the iphone 6 plus.  We have one imac with separate itunes accounts.  Whenever I download an app on my account, it also shows up on my wifes itunes account.  How can I keep the two accounts separate?

Are you both using the same Store account?  You may need to disable automatic downloads for your library and that account.

  • How can I separate icloud accounts on one apple id?

We have four apple ios5 devices in our household under one apple id . Each of us want our own icloud account though. We don't want eachothers stuff on eachother's phones and ipods. What can we do to stop that so we can have our own? We have our own contacts, pictures and music. We want it to stay that way. Please help!!!

I've been trying to figure out a clean way to do this too. I think you may need more than one Apple ID – one that is shared and used to purchase "sharable" items and then "individual" Apple IDs for you and your son. That's the idea that I'm pursuing for the moment.
It seems that there must be a way to do this, App Store purchases for the Mac are licensed across multiple machines. iPhone app purchases have "all your devices" licensing. Makes me think that Apple has a process in mind for sharing an account (or associating a device with multiple accounts).
    Other things I've learned:
    - Apparently you can't merge Apple ID accounts. I asked about this once at an Apple Store and was told that there was no way to do it.
    - If you share an Apple ID the Messages app behaves in a somewhat surprising manner. It must use your Apple ID to decide where messages should be sent because all users get all messages. This can make it very hard to organize a surprise party :-)

  • Two separate itune accounts on one computer...

My husband and I both have ipods and we have one computer that we share. The itunes software is downloaded to the same computer but we both have separate accounts as we both like different music. What I have noticed is that his songs tend to sync onto my ipod I don't want that and I'm sure he doesn't want my songs to download onto his ipod. Is there a way to get around this? He's got a gazillion songs already in the library where I'm just getting started with mine. I thought that once I had my own account I would have my own library not have to share with him. Please help as I am new to itunes and the itune store purchases. Thanks in advance!

  • HT1349 How to separate iTunes accounts?

Hi, My teenaged daughter and i each have our own individual iPod touch.
We used to use the same computer to sync our devices and now seem to have one library even though we have our own apple ID's. It is very time consuming to have to change the settings for syncing every time we want to sync, and getting her mother's music on her ipod is a disaster!
We each have our own Apple ID and i could have her sync on ald PC while i sync on the imac if necessary, but how do i separate the iTunes accounts into 2 clearly separate ones, please?
    Thanks!
