How to separate music on a single computer

Hello,
I have a mess on my music library and I would like to separate my music from my daughter's music since we have totally different taste when it comes to music. How can I accomplish this on a single computer?
Thank you.

TX for the help!!!
You are welcome!
...... now the question that I have is:
When I connect her iPhone to iTunes to back up or update, I guess I have to open iTunes holding the option key and choose her libray, so the music she has purchased previously on iTunes Store goes directly to her libray, is that correct?
In a few words, everytime that I am going to do something to her iPhone through iTunes, I have to choose her library, correct?
Thank you.
Yes, make sure you hold the Option key and open to the library that you intend to use.
If that gets to be too much of a chore (and if both of you are actively using iTunes, it quickly will ), you can always switch to the separate user accounts approach.  Then the right library will open for the corresponding account.

  • How to share music on a single computer document doesn't show music in other account on the computer

Hello.  I have 2 accounts on my Windows 7 computer and want both to access the same library.  I have followed the instructions for sharing the iTunes Media folder to the public folder.  I have moved the path appropriately on both accounts.  However, while the account where I initially installed iTunes sees the library in the public folder and when iTunes is open sees the entire library, the other computer account doesn't see anything.  Any insights?

In regards to iTunes content, an iPhone can be synced or manually managed with music and video with an iTunes library on a single computer only. When transferring iTunes content from another computer, all iTunes content on the iPhone that was transferred from a different computer will be erased from the iPhone first. The same applies to photos transferred from a computer.
To avoid this, you need to transfer your iTunes library from your old computer to your new computer following the instructions included with this link.

You don't.  The music sync is one way - computer to iphone.  the only exception is itunes purchases.
The iphone is not a backup device.

The "iPod" part can really be any drive or DVD-R or whatever your can fit the library onto.

  • How to transfer music to a new computer (PC)?

Simple question, I'm hoping for a simple answer. I've just purchased a new laptop PC and want to transfer my music to it. Is there an easy way to do this? All I can seem to find are some really convoluted steps to making this happen. And if I take the iPod to an Apple store will they do it for me?

*I've just purchased a new laptop PC and want to transfer my music to it. Is there an easy way to do this?*
Do you want to transfer the iTunes library from the original computer or just copy the music from the iPod? Some iPods can be used as an external drive and you can use them to move your iTunes library from one computer to another (this option isn't available with the iPod Touch). You can adapt this method for use with a regular external drive: How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer
iTunes will only let you copy your purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (including purchases) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Comparison of iPod managers
A selection of iPod to iTunes utilities:
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
SharePod Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    YamiPod Mac and Windows

iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
*And if I take the iPod to an Apple store will they do it for me?*
Since copying non iTunes purchases requires third party software I would doubt it very much.

  • How to transfer music from home shared computer to ipod

The laptop my ipod is physically connected to has no music on it's hard drive.  I remotely access all of my files which are on a home shared media server.  I can view, play and edit my home shared music remotely with my laptop with no problem.  When trying to move those files from the home shared hard drive to the ipod it will not allow it.  In the menu that appears to the right when dragging files, the ipod is not shown in the list.  If I move home shared files physically to my laptop and then attempt to drag them to the right the ipod is shown in the list.  Is there any way to allow this type of transfer without moving the files to my laptop?

  • How to download music from iphone to computer

How do I download music from iphone to computer/itunes

Wjosten ... sorry to push in to this discussion ... but I have a related music question ... and thought you might be able to answer.
I know iOS does not enable audio files to be attached to text messages.  I assume this is to prevent illegal sharing of songs.  But who is actually saying 'no.'   Is it the music owners (studios and publishers) who fear they will lose control of copyrighted songs (a la Napster)?  Or is it Apple protecting the iTunes business.  Or both.  I wouldn't blame either ... they are just protecting their IP.  I'm just curious.  I wonder if the music companies suddenly decided to allow some kind of music file sharing via text messages ... would Apple (and Google) go along and enable such sharing on smartphones and devices ??

  • How to transfer music from iPod to computer

I am trying to update my 4th generation ipod touch to iOS 6.0.1 but I have all of my music backed up on another computer. How do I transfer the music from my ipod to the second computer so i do not lose the music

    It's not that straightforward.
If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
For all other non purchased music (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
    See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

  • How to reinstall music on a new computer

I had to reformat the computer that was having issues with mcafee firewall. I backed up computer using an external HD and upon restarting the computer I accidently named the computer something else. It ended up putting 2 different users and itunes did not merge the music over. I had an ipod, iphone and an ipad connected to this computer. Itunes is showing the music/artist but it says it cannot play that song because its not in the file and asks if it could locate it. How do I get the files over for my iphone? Do I have to reformat again? Using windows 7 pro, iphone 4s v6.1.1

Frankly the name of hte computer is irrelevant.

  • How to transfer music from an old computer to a new one without losing CD's that were loaded?

When I previously loaded my CD collection to my 1st laptop, I loaded it directly to iTunes. Now I have upgraded my laptop, and would like to transfer all of that music to my iTunes account on the new one. However, when I load iTunes, I only have the option to transfer the purchases made from iTunes (music only, it is not transfering the apps I purchased)
Is there a way to transfer all of my music (uploaded from my CD's) to the new computer, without having to go back and physically put each CD in the new computer & upload the songs again? Also, how do I get my purchased apps & free apps to transfer as well?
    I appreciate any help.

If you still have the old laptop use iTunes on it to go to the File menu item Library > Back Up to Disc...
You can use this to create a backup copy of your entire iTunes library and load it into the iTunes on your new computer.

    Hi
The value of the Channel Strip volume etc is not stored within the C Strip setting, as you have discovered.
If you really wanted, you could add a Gain plug to the strip, with it set to give the correct output level with the Fader set to 0
(Or just set the fader manually in MS)

  • How to transfer music files from one computer to another

    Hello,
I have home sharing enabled on both my mac and pc. I can't figure out for the life of me how to actually transfer
songs from my mac to my pc with home sharing enabled. How do you do this?
Step by step process please. I have the latest versions of Itunes installed on both machines.

    Hello clissmann,
For the step by step of transfer music over using Home Sharing, take a look at the first article below. If you are stuck or having issues, then you may want to use another alternative like an external hard drive to copy that information over. The second article can help you out with that if you go that route.
