Is there a way to set up a default home page in Safari so that when I launch it, it will always go to that page first?

Navigate to the page you want to be your home page. Press the + and then Add to Home Screen. Now simply use that new icon to launch Safari instead of the Safari icon.

I'm trying to deploy FF 4.0rc1 in a corporate environment but I can't find a way to set the default home page or any other settings for that matter.
Is there a way to set the default home page for all new users and lock it so that the users can't change home page?

In Firefox 4 the template folder for new profiles (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\profile\
) doesn't exist. You can create that \defaults\profile\ folder and place a file user.js in it with the prefs that you want to initialize.

Allow User to set their Default Home Page

How can I allow the end user to set their defualt home page? There is a User Profile Portlet but end users are not able to see it when they log in. Also, I want them to be able to just set their own defualt home page.

As a privileged user:

Oracle Portal Home Page > Administer Tab > Portal User Profile > Edit Portal User Profile > Preferences Tab > Default Home Page
On this page you can also set the Default Group for the user. As groups have a Default Home Page property too, the Default Home Page can be managed on a group membership basis, if needed.

How can I set the default home page in Firefox 4 for all users that login to a PC on a Win 7 PC?

I work at a community college in upstate NY.
We use Firefox as the default browser at our institution and we have always set the default homepage to be our homepage for all users that login to the PC. We had a procedure to to that that worked with Windows XP and FF 3 or earlier
We would do the following:
1. go to: c:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Mozilla\FireFox\Profiles\<profile_name>\prefs.js
2. Add the line: user_pref (“browser.startup.homepage”,”http://www.genesee.edu”);
3. Copy the Folder
C:\Documents & Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Mozilla
To
C:\Documents & Settings\Default User\Application Data\Mozilla
4. Restart the computer
We're going to Win 7 and Firefox 4 and things seem to be different in terms of files and file structure. Does anyone know how to accomplish this?

Workgroup Manager - Set default home page for Safari

is it possible to set a default homepage for the a suite of macs using Workgroup manager, for some reason the mac suite are not picking up the homepage set via the proxy, so if it could be changed it would be a great help.

Then just add it yourself. Do this:
Select any other value available in the com.apple.Safari manifest and then edit the raw xml. This can be done by doing the normal process described above but choosing something other than Home Page. I choose Download location. Then, click back on Accounts and go to the Inspector tab. If you do not have it enable, go WGM's preferences and enable the "show all records tab."
Once that is visible, select the account that you modified and then click the Inspector tab. From the list, find MCXSettings and turn the reveal arrow down. Select the MCX entry and press the edit pencil. You will see something like this:

No, but you can make a Home Screen shortcut to MSN. Navigate to the MSN page. Tap the icon in the toolbar that looks like a box with an arrow curving out of it. Tap "Add to Homescreen". Then, just access Safari by tapping the shortcut.

How to set the default start page (login) of apex itself?

I've successfully upgraded from 3.2 to 4.0! I'm using the pl/sql embedded gateway.
When I enter the url http://s01:8081/apex I get an error (page cannot be displayed (404)). But when I enter http://s01:8081/apex/f?p=4550:1:1481295403790110 the apex logon page appears and everything works well.
For testing I turned on debug logging and entered again http://s01:8081/apex
The trace file contains the following logging entries:

I'm using apex 4.0 on oracle 10.2.0.4 enterprise edition with the embedded pl/sql gateway. I've to instances on this server (dev and prod). The development instance works without any problems.
The query returns:
ORA-24231: Database Access Descriptor (DAD) APEX not found
ORA-06512: in "SYS.DBMS_SYS_ERROR", line 86
ORA-06512: in "SYS.DBMS_EPG", line 58
ORA-06512: in "SYS.DBMS_EPG", line 299
After googling or searching on metalink for the error message I'm redirected to oracle documentation which tells me the reason for the error but nothing about to correct it - that's why I love oracle documentation so much...
Cause: The specified Database Access Descriptor (DAD) did not exist.
Action: Make sure the name of the Database Access Descriptor (DAD) is correct and the DAD exists.

Firefox has always opened a blank new tab, if it opened to anything else that would be caused by an add-on. Check your add-ons to see if any offer this feature, or if any were disabled when you updated to Firefox 4.

Is there an option to set a default home page in Safari on an iPhone? Since I'm new to an iPhone maybe I'm missing something.

Not as such. I suspect it's a deliberate feature that it automatically remembers where you were and takes you there.
If there is a page you check consistently, you might select the plus icon and add it as an icon to the home screen. Hitting that icon will then launch Safari and take you to that site, and still allow you to browse to other sites after.

User not being redirected to its default home page.

We have created a page called Home which we have set as system default home page in global settings page.
We have a Group called Employee and a page called Emp. We have set the default home page of the Employee group to Emp.
Now we have created a user called abc whose default profile group is Employee.
Now when i try logging into portal the user is redirected to Home page and not the Emp Page. How to solve this issue?

good that you found the problem. please quote the document id for other folk's reference in any such matter.
about your problem, if you have to repeat it for all users, you may write a shell script to substitute the user_ids and run them in a script. easiest it would be if you are on a unix/ linux system. then you may write something of the following nature;
- extract uid for all users using ldapsearch and save in a file myusers.txt;
- now use awk to prepare your sql script by writing statements for each of those 3500 users;
awk ' { print "first_part_of_your_statement" $1 " last_part_of_your_statement \n commit; " }' myusers.txt > fixmyusers.sql
and then just put the first statement right at the top of this script (about setting context for portal user).
and then, run this sql script!
i hope you should have enough hints to get it done within half an hour now.
