How to set Default to in Dashboard Prompt from presentation variable value
Hi all BI Gurus,
I am trying to come out from my problem from last two days and I am not able to find the solution.
Here is my problem.
I am having two dashboard pages in one dashboard. Both pages contains dashboard prompt. Now from the first page’s prompt I had set a presentation variable and I want to use that presentation variable’s value in to prompt’ s default value which is used in my second dashboard page.
I am hoping I can do that with Server variable or variable expression, but don’t know the proper way. I tried a lot with both but not able to find the solution.
Could any help me please?
Regards,Hi David,
Thanks for replying. I really appreciate it.
Yes I am using the same column.
Let me provide you more details regarding my problem,
I am having one dashboard prompt for gender and it's default value is 'Female' so I am assigning that value in to presentation variable PV_GENDER with set variable option in prompt.
Now in my second prompt which I am using on second page of same dashboard, I am trying to assign that value 'Female' ( or the one that user had selected ) with the help or that presentation variable PV_GENDER in Default to. I tried all options (e.g. Variable Expression, Server Variable, SQL Result ) but I am not able to get that value.
If you need more detail just let me know.
Once again thanks for replying. -
How to pass values to dashboard prompts from external applications
Any idea is well appreciated.
How can I pass values of dashboard prompts from external applications to the dashboard prompts so that the dashboard is prefiltered based on values sent by external applications.
Thanks in Advance!
KrisKris,
i am able to change the session variable and able to call the dashboard from external app, but i identified prompt value not changing. but Finally i am able to found a workaround for you.
Use the following URL and it explained here
http://localhost:9704/analytics/saw.dll?Dashboard&nquser=Administrator&nqpassword=Administrator&PortalPath=/shared/abcd/_portal/dash1&Options=rmf&DSN=madan
PortalPath is your dashboard location. /shared/abcd is folder where i saved dashboards. dash1 is my dashboard name.
internally this dashboard includes many reports that uses the session variable. after doing above this i am able to update the session variable to the value i have given in URL, DSN=value.
You may observer here that calls the dashboard and passes the value but its not updating the prompt value. so workaround for this is edit your prompt,
change the Default to - SQL Results and place the sql
SELECT CASE WHEN 1=0 THEN Markets.Region ELSE VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION.DSN) END saw_0 FROM Paint
again here Market.Region is column from presentation layer and Paint is subject area. After doing this step, your prompt always shows value in the session varible as default.
Now include reports and dashboard prompt in the dashboard and run this url from external applicaitons.
http://localhost:9704/analytics/saw.dll?Dashboard&nquser=Administrator&nqpassword=Administrator&PortalPath=/shared/abcd/_portal/dash1&Options=rmf&DSN=madan
it worked for me and blog this soon. if it works for you mark the question as answered and mark my replies as correct.
thanks

Return a Range of Value from Dashboard Prompt
From example, 'Day' column has values from 1 to 365 and I set it as a dashboard prompt. If I want to select a range of value from 'Day', I can use 'is between' operator. Then I can select a range of day value from 1 to 365.
My additional requirement is to return a fixed range of value. For example, the maximum range is 31 days. That means if I select day 1, the result should display 1-31. Also I should be allowed to select a range fewer than 31 days. In short, I need to return result from minimum 1 day to maximum 31 days. Is it possible for dashboard prompt? or there are other solutions?Let's see. To answer your first question, yes, you will end up having two prompts that hold values 1-31. The user will select one value from the first prompt, say 2, and a value from the second prompt, say 31. Since both of these prompt values are stored in presentation variables, you can use them in the filter on the "day column" in your report (i.e., 'Day' greater than or equal to pvStartDay and less than or equal to pvEndDay). This will give you the range on your report.
The reason for the CASE WHEN 1=0 is because you are using the Day column twice in your prompt. OBI only allows you to use a column once in your report. It is also to protect the column from being affected by the prompts.
Check this link for details:
http://oraclebizint.wordpress.com/2008/02/26/oracle-bi-ee-101332-between-prompts-for-date-columns-using-presentation-variables/
Now, based on your second post, it appears your conditions are different. You are selecting actual dates, not a number from 1-31.
TomChan wrote:
Maybe I can describe my case in a simple way. I have a startDate prompt that can select all date values. If I select a date value from startDate prompt, says '20090101'(in yyyymmdd format), the endDate prompt should display maximum 31 values(i.e. 20090101 - 20090131) basing on the selected values of startDate prompt. Then I further select a value in the endDate prompt to filter the report. Is it possible?I am a bit confused. It seems that you want the first prompt to display the first day of the 12 months of the year and once selected, the second prompt would be constrained to show the days of that particular month from which the user would select the "end date"? But then you say "basing [sic] on the selected values of starDate prompt" -- you have "values" as plural. Does this mean the user can select multiple values in the first prompt? -
How to set default values for boolean columns
I'm trying to deploy some content types and columns into a site with a feature. All it's ok, except that I'm trying to set a default value for boolean columns with no success.
I've tried to set default value at column level:
<Field ID="{EFE23A1D-494E-45cf-832E-45E41B17F0CF}" Name="ScopeSpanish" DisplayName="Se publican noticias en español"
Type="Boolean" Hidden="FALSE" Group="Columnas ShaCon" >
<Default>TRUE</Default>
</Field>
and at content type level:
<FieldRef ID="{EFE23A1D-494E-45cf-832E-45E41B17F0CF}" Name="ScopeSpanish" DefaultValue="TRUE" Required="TRUE" />
But in any case, when i create a new item with this content type, default value is applied.
Can anyone tell how to set default values for boolean columns?
Thanks in advance,
Regards,
SergioIn the field definition you can set
<Default>1</Default>
or
<Default>0</Default>

KaleeHi,
"cookie" is a reserved name. If you want to write to a session scope attribute called "cookie" then you have to call #{sessionScope.cookie}. If you want to use EL to set and read from cookies then you will have to use
#{cookie.cookieName}
Note that #{cookie} writes to and returns a map

In flex, How to set a value to one parameter, the parameter
defined in a cffunction in a cfc file, In the cffunction there are
much cfargument, I want set a value to one of them, such as the
cfc:
<cffunction access="remote" name="myShow" output="false"
returntype="struct">
<cfargument name="ID" type="numeric" default=0>
<cfargument name="GoodsID" type="string" default="">
<cfargument name="DestTime" type="string" default="">
<cfargument name="DestCount" type="numeric" default=1>
How I set a value to only parameter one of them , such as set
GoodsID when use mx:remoteObject.
Thanks for your helpGot maybe a solution for you, I have just tested it.
So, the idea is to use intermediate variables. Imagine Var1 and Var2 variables that you refresh with your more or less complicated queries. Then what you can do is to refresh your final variable Var3 with a query using your intermediate variables. Here is an example for Oracle:
select #Var1+#Var2 from dual
This way you can make a chain of dependent variables: Var3 is using Var2 and Var2 is using Var1.
Hope it helps.

Constraining Values in Dashboard Prompts
Hi,
I have a question about constraining values in dashboard prompts. Do all fields need to come from the same table as I am finding constraining values is not working where I am selecting some values from different tables:
For example
Start Date - Fact Table
End Date - Fact Table
Salesperson - Org Dim
Market - Org Dim
Introducer - Org Dim
Customer - Org Dim
I am trying to constrain values beginning from Salesperson and so on but this does not work.
Is this the expected behaviour? should all values be retrieved from the same table in order for this to work?
ThanksHi,
Below is the filter I am applying in the report:
"Agreement Fact"."Prop Creation Date" >= Evaluate('to_date(%1,%2)','@{startdate}','YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS')
and "Agreement Fact"."Prop Creation Date2" <= Evaluate('to_date(%1,%2)','@{enddate}','YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS')
and Organisation.Market = '@{market}'
and Organisation."Sales Person Name" = '@{salesperson}'
and Organisation."Introducer Name" = '@{introducer}'
and Organisation."Customer Name" = '@{customer}'
I have selected constrain in the report from salesperson onwards but instead when I run the dashboard report the values beginning with salesperson do not show.
I definitely know that data exists for the date parameters(startdate and enddate) and market parameter. I have run a report in answers using the same parameters as in dashboard and do see data.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

How to set the value of something in a component from the main application?
Hi,
Maybe I've been working on this too long, but I can't figure
out how to set the value of the text property of a text input field
in a component from my main application in an mx:Script block. I
have a component called Login in the components folder, and I need
to set the text value of empNum. In my mxml declaration at that the
top, I've declared these components as xmlns:c="components.*" So
logically, the property I'm trying to set is c.Login.empNum.text. I
can't figure out the correct syntax to get this to work, and I've
tried everything I can think of. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I'm thinking this should be an easy one, and I'm just missing
something.
Thanks!
HolliDid you try giving it an id ?
<c:MyLogin id="loginScreen" /c>
So later you can do loginScreen .empNum.text = "my text"

P.ManivannanHi,
1. First import the BAPI in to WD component using create->service call.
2.The BAPI import, export and Table parameters will be set in to the Component Controller context.Then drag this BAPI node to your view.
3.In the 'texts' property of DDbyindex bind the BAPI output node which will be the Table parameter of the BAPI.It could be under CHANGING node.

is it ADF bound? If so then you set the default value to the list binding in the PageDef file. The value of the component must be bound to a method expression, which is why you see an exception. However, I think we need more information

How to set variables values via VBA.
Anybody please help.
How to set variables values via VBA in workbook. SAP Netweaver 2004s.Pass variable values with VBA and BI 7.0 funtions to Query
At first a remark u2013 Iu2019ve read a lot of threads saying that passing values to a query can be done by using VBA code only. Iu2019ve tested it but Iu2019m not sufficient with the new BEX 7.0 API and therefore I use a mixture of BEX 7.0 funtionality and VBA. I create a BEX 7.0 design item button passing the values to a query u2013 I hide this button somewhere on the sheet or on a hidden sheet and I then raise the event to click the button from VBA code. Works fine and the maintenance is easier if something changes in the API in the future again.
How to start:
Switch to design mode in BEX Analyzer:
Implement a BEX 7.0 design item u201Cbuttonu201D
Click on the button to implement the properties
Make the input for the commands
data_provider = dataprovider_1
cmd = process_variables
subcmd = var_submit
No comes the part with the variables u2013 Letu2019s assume a query has 4 variables but you only want to change 1 with the button u2013 an organizational unit for instance.
Make a range somewhere in the excel with the following structure:
Name Index Value
VAR_NAME_1 1 Variablename
VAR_VALUE_EXT_1 1 variablevalue
Value should contain the name of your variable of course and u201Cvalueu201D the value of your variable
Set a name for this range with EXCEL functionality but without the header:
Back to the properties of the button: Insert the name of the range with the variables in the field Command Range:
If you have more variables to process you can of course enhance your Filterrange!
In the left upper Corner you have a name for your button:
Now you can raise the button-click in vba like this:
Application.Run "'" & ThisWorkbook.Name & "'!Sheet2.BUTTON_35_Click"
