How to set an email address as the default

I have several email accounts. How can I set one to be the default when I create a new email?

Settings, Mail, Contacts, Calendars, scroll down and there is a location to select the default account.

  • How to set an email address as the default for a new message

Simple question I hope. How do I set Mail so that a new mail message is linked to a preferred account? At the moment when I click "compose new message", the default account is my me.com address. It only takes a moment to select my preferred account in the drop-down menu, but I never had this issue before and I can't figure it out in preferences. Thanks.
    Tom

Open mail then mail-preference-composing and in the middle "Send new messages from" use the drop down menu to choose your prefered account.

  • Mail: How to delete an email address in the "To" field that is no longer valid

How to delete an email address that is no longer valid but still appears as an option when typing that person's name in the field "To"; in MS Outlook this simply works by deleting that email address in the field "To" or "Cc" or "Bcc". The old, non-valid email address has been deleted in the address book and replaced by a new valid email address. When typing in the "To" field both email addresses appear as an option. Is it possible to achieve that only the valid email address is offered as an option so to avoid any confusion.

well, when the "false" address is in the "to" field, you should see a littl' arrow pointing down and a "remove from previous recipients list.
It should fix the problem. (and so, only keep the "good one"

  • Can I have my new iCloud email address be the default instead of my Apple ID?

My apple ID is based on an old @mac.com account that no longer works. My new iCloud account has given me a new @me.com account but I can't use it as the default and all email going out from iPhone apps, i.e.: news articles, etc., is being sent from the @mac.com account and bouncing from the server. I can switch the "from"line so that it goes through the working account, but I have to do it every time I send something. Is there a way to permanently set the new @me.com address as the default or do I need to open a new iCloud account?

Thanks for your answer, but perhaps I didn't make myself clear. What I would like to do is change my default email address for iCloud from the old @mac.com address that does not work anymore to the new @me.com that Apple has issued me, or even a gmail account. Why does the iCloud account have to be linked to an email address that no longer works?

  • How to remove an email address from the spam filter?

Hi, my bank has this service of sending me an email each time I perform a transaction. But for some reason, Mail always marks these messages as spam. I’ve been marking tehm as “not spam” for months, but Mail never “learns” this and keeps marking them as spam. The same happens on the iCloud webmail, where I’ve been also marking them as “not spam” for a long time.
Can anyone help me with tips or suggestions on how to fix this?
    Thanks, Vlad.

Put the address in your Address Book. In Preferences > Junk Mail check "Sender of message in in my Address Book" to exempt it from Junk filtering.

  • How to set Java 64-bit as the default?

Hey everyone, I need to use Java 64-bit in Mac OS X Lion and I thought it defaulted to using the 64-bit JDK until I ran Minecraft which stated I was running the 32-bit JDK and if I deselect the 32-bit entry in Java Preferences it deselects the 64-bit entry as well. Does anyone know of a way to make OS X default to the 64-bit version, I also make use of the 64-bit JDK on Windows to ensure my Java applications in NetBeans run correctly on either flavour.
I did try using the OpenJDK 7 and downloaded the 64-bit runtime and installed it correctly and confirmed it was running but when running the Minecraft.app I was greeted with a message saying no compatible JDK 1.5+ was installed and when using the Terminal, it was failing to logon correctly, but was working fine in the standard JDK but like I said, I'm stuck with 32-bit in that case.
    Regards, Wobby.

    Does minecraft support 64-bit Java?
There isn't really a default java, but you can set the order for your preferred java.  Go to the Java Preferences (/Applications/Utilities/Java Preferences) and on the General tab just make sure the 64-bit java is first (you can click and drag them to change the order).
You might also try disabling the 32-bit java by unchecking the "ON" check box next to it and see if Minecraft will run and with which Java (if shouldn't be able to launch the 32-bit one if it is off).
    Good luck!

  • Why is one of my other email addresses trumping my default email address when I reply to emails?

    Good morning.
I have several (4 different) email addresses imported into my imac mail program. I have gone through the settings and configured the program to best of my ability. I have set one email address as my default account. For some reason when I compose a new email message...the mail program will use one of my other email addresses (non-default email address) instead.  Do I have something set up incorrectly?
    Thanks
    Alex H.

open up your mail preferences and in the composing section there is place to choose the default email address for composing new messages.
if you have several email accts though whatever acct you're in replying to the message will always default as the reply from address since that is the address it was originally sent to.

Hi i use iphone 4 with iso 6.1.3!! Am not getting an option to register my phone number in imsg!! Am just getting an option to set my email address for sending and receiving the imsgs!! How do i register my phone number??

    Hello Nikkii,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
iOS: Troubleshooting FaceTime and iMessage activation
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4268
    Troubleshooting telephone-number activation (iPhone only)
After each step, toggle FaceTime and iMessage off and then on in Settings > Messages and Settings > FaceTime.
Update to the latest version of iOS.
Ensure that your iPhone is set to the correct time zone. Tap Settings > General > Date & Time.
Note: If Set Automatically is on but the incorrect time zone is displayed, turn Set Automatically off and then choose the correct time zone, date, and time. Then turn Set Automatically on again.
Ensure that FaceTime has not been restricted: Settings > General > Restrictions > FaceTime.
Verify that you can send SMS messages. You need a valid SMS messaging plan to activate FaceTime.
Contact your carrier to verify that there are no restrictions or blocks on text messages. Blocks on text messaging will prevent iMessage and FaceTime registration.
If you are unable to activate iMessage or FaceTime on a device after remote wiping it, wait at least 24 hours and try again.
If "Waiting for Activation" is displayed, leave FaceTime and iMessage enabled for 24 hours. Toggling FaceTime or iMessage off and on will cause the registration process to start over.
    Best of luck,
    Mario

  • How do I set up two email address on the same account?

Using Mail in Mac OS X 10.6.2 and moving to Mac for the first time, I have been unable to set up two email addresses on the same account. Entering them, separated by commas, as advised in the Help does not seem to work. I have tried making them both the same password and have tried separating the passwords with a comma but no luck. Unable to set up another account for the second address because it correctly tells me that the account already exists.
    Is there a way?
    Thanks for any help.

After a comprehensive trial and error session, using a new Guest Account each time to be sure of no contamination from the previous trial, I have finally cracked it!
The problem was logging on to the outgoing server.
Setting up the first account was fairly straightforward but if I allow Mail to do it automatically I am unable to send because Mail has defaulted to 'Authentication Required' when my server does not require it. Setting the account manually without authentication enables send and receive to work OK.
If i try to set up the second account automatically, Mail crashes.
If I set it up manually and choose 'No Authentication', Mail crashes.
If I set it up manually and choose 'Authentication Required' and enter the full email address as the User Name together with password, Mail crashes.
If I set it up manually and choose 'Authentication Required' and enter the first part of the email address together with password, Mail crashes.
However, if I set it up manually and choose 'Authentication Required' and enter the first part of the email address as User Name and no password, Mail accepts it and sets up the account.
At this point the account receives mail but cannot send it.
If I go into the Mail preferences and try to edit the outgoing server details, Mail will not accept no Authentication.
I eventually found that if I uncheck the 'Always Use This Server' box, all account then use the server on the first account, which is correctly set up.
Now I have my four email accounts all able send and receive.
One little concern remains. In Outlook Express I could look at the properties of a received email and see what address it had come from, together with many other details. I haven't found out yet whether this can be done in Mail. I just wonder whether if I reply to some email, it will appear to have come from a different address from the one it was sent to.
Thanks again for all the inputs.
    Allan

  • HT204053 I have an iPhone 4S and the new Apple TV, both setup with my email as the Apple ID.  I gave my wife an iPad 3 and set it up using her email address as the Apple ID.  Is a second iTumes Match subscription required for her to use our music from iCl

I have an iPhone 4S and the latest Apple TV, both setup with my email address as the Apple ID.  I subscribed to iTunes Match so our music could be played from iCloud.  I gave my wife an iPad 3 and set it up using her email address as the Apple ID.  When I try to turn on iMatch so she can play our music from iCloud on her new iPad it tells me that she needs a subscription to iTunes Match.  Is it Apple's intent that we would need two iTunes Match subscriptions?  If not, how do I accomplish what I want to get done?

The problem is that all services are bundled with your Apple ID ([email protected]):
Your iCloud account (Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, Notes, Backups, etc.),
also iTunes & App Store purchases (Music, Movies, TV Shows, etc.),
    and the iTunes Match services.
(I guess that all your devices - yours and your wife's are connected to one iTunes library, right?)
If you want that your wife gets her own iCloud account for Mail, Contacts, Calendars, etc. but gets also access to your media then you have two set up two things on her device:
iCloud (Settings > iCloud) with her account (e.g. [email protected])
    and
iTunes & App Stores (Settings > iTunes & App Stores) with your account (e.g. [email protected]).
In this case she gets access to your library and could use the same iTunes Match account.

how do i change my icloud email address from the one i already have input?

    Hi sparkie,
You cannot change your iCloud email address. It is an @me.com address, and is associated specifically with that iCloud account. If you want a different @me address assigned, you have to delete the current iCloud account and set up a new one.
Here is a link with all the support information for iCloud:

    Hope this helps!
