How to set enable usage rights in adobe reader?

Dear all,
How to set "enable usage rights in adobe reader..." in acrobat sdk?
I did that through menu event but it shows saveAs dialog window.
Please anyone guide how to handle the saveas window. Otherwise if there is any method to directly enable the option.
Thanks...
vijay

There is no way to automate this in the Acrobat SDK.  If you need to automate Reader Enablement, you need another product – LiveCycle Reader Extension Server.

  • Problem with enabling usage rights for Adobe Reader

    Hi All,
    I have designed a form using Live cycle. From Live cycle I export it as PDF. As a final step, I open the PDF by using acrobat professional to enable usage rights for Adobe Reader. As soon as I enble the rights it saves the document with a different name, which is fine. However; at the same time it also runs the postsave events from the form and removes a couple of objects. How do I avoid this? My form has very little code:
    There is a drop down field called 'LearningSolutionsAdvisor' which has the following code on PostSave event:
    NewHorizons.Page1.LearningSolutionsAdvisor::postSave - (FormCalc, client)
    LearningSolutionsAdvisor.access ="readOnly"
    There is 'Save' button which has the following code:
    NewHorizons.Page1.Save::click - (JavaScript, client)
    app.execMenuItem("SaveAs");
    NewHorizons.Page1.Save::postSave - (FormCalc, client)
    Save.presence = "invisible"
    I thank you for your help in advance.
    Regards,
    Girish

    This video is very helpful as it explains exactly what I want to do:  Extend Features in Adobe Reader, to allow my readers to save their changes.  However, I do not have that option in my version of Adobe X Pro 10.1.4.  Can anyone explain to me why I don't have that option, and what an alternative would be?

    Be sure to read the license agreement. It has restrictions on the use of Reader Rights. The restrictions depend on your planned use.

  • Enabling usage rights in Adobe Reader corrupts PDF text

    Hi,
    I've created a registration form using Open Office writer which has editable fields. I convert this to a PDF and then add a signature field in Acrobat 8.
    At this point everything works fine, all the editable fields etc convert across, but I want people to be able to sign and save the form in Reader, so I check the "Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader" feature and save it. Now when I open the PDF in either Acrobat or Reader all the text is completely corrupted and illegible (see image).
    Any idea what's going on here?
    Thank you
    Paul

  • Enable User Rights In Adobe Reader using Acrobat X

    Hello,
    I just upgraded to Acrobat X Pro from Acrobat Pro 9 and I'm still getting familiar with it. I need to Enable User Rights In Adobe Reader but I noticed that the tool bar does not have the "Advanced" option where Acrobat Pro 9 has it.
    Can you please tell me how to go about it.
    Thank you much!!!

    How do you remove User Rights from a documnet in Acrobat X? I can't edit my Javascript in Acrobat X and I believe thi is the reason why. Thanks

  • Enable User Rights In Adobe Reader is greyed out in Adobe 8

    I want the ability to save my fillable forms. The user guide tells me to goto Advanced > Enable User Rights In Adobe Reader.
    That option is greyed out in my Adobe Acrobat. Can't figure out why. Need some pointers.

    In that case you will have to start over and use the form fields in Acrobat, not Designer. I do not use Designer, so I can not say if you have just missed it or not. I am sure others will stop by and say if it is available in Designer. Bill

  • Advanced menu - Enable User Rights in Adobe Reader

    Hello,
    Where in the "Advanced" drop down list can I find
    Advanced menu - Enable User Rights in Adobe Reader.
    I would like to send a form to more than 500 people who will need to save it to their desktop, fill out the designated text boxes, save it again, and then email it back to me.  I have the form saved in Adobe Acrobat Standard 8.  Guidance would be appreciated.

    It is against the license for you to retrieve the information from more than 500 people. You need to purchase a Livecycle product to do what you want.

  • Save and File Attachment usage rights for adobe reader

    With Acrobat Pro is there any way to save a pdf that has both save usage rights and file attachment usage rights?
    It seems that if I save the pdf with save the form data usage rights then I can no longer use createDataObject or setDataObjectContents methods when viewing with adobe reader or acrobat.
    createDataObject and setDataObjectContents require 'File Attachment' usage rights, which from the behavior I am getting totally disjoint from the save usage rights.
    I have no trouble using submitForm method with save usage rights applied to the pdf.

    Thanks for the replies, I also want to verify that a pdf created with acrobat that uses createDataObject or setDataObjectContents will no longer function properly in acrobat after saving the pdf with the additional usage permissions.  Is there any documentation that points to what  functions are crippled by saving the pdf with the various choices of  extensions enabled?  It seems as if I save the pdf with any type of extended usage rights for reader, then the pdf functions as if it was opened by adobe reader even if I have it open in acrobat?

  • Dropdown List and Usage Rights in Adobe Reader

    Hi everyone!
    The problem is: I can't save data when I open my form in Adobe Reader 7, even if I apply usage rights in Acrobat Professional before.
    But in Adobe Reader 8, it works!
    Can anyone help me, please?
    I designed a form into Livecycle with a drop-down-list dynamically populated from a data source (XML file).
    After the design be done, I opened the form in Acrobat Professional and attach the XML file by the menu "Forms > Manage form data > import data".
    Then I apply usage rights in Acrobat, to enable saving in Reader.
    As I said, it works fine in Reader 8: I can choose any item from drop-down-list and save the form. But in Reader 7, it doesn't.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Enable Usage Rights Resetting in Adobe 8.1.2

    Hi!
    I've created a series of forms using Livecycle that need to be sent off to multiple recipients, who need to be able to save/print/etc. from Acrobat Reader.
    Using Professional 8.1.2 I've been Enabling Usage Rights with Acrobat Reader but when I open the forms up again the next day the rights are no longer enabled and I have to enable them all over again! It doesn't happen every time - they stick with some forms - but most of the time they seem to be reset and it's getting very hard to keep track of which forms are still enabled.
    Is this a known problem? Any ideas??

    I've double checked my fonts, and the only fonts used are Myriad Pro which I'm pretty sure is embedded across Acrobat.
    Do you know what kind of scripts might cause the change? I've got a couple running in the forms - the ones that I've written myself are:
    1. calculation scripts (just pretty simple numeric calculations on inputted data)
    2. an if... then script that runs on a dummy e-mail submit button that clicks the actual submit if a check-box is ticked
    I know there's also script running in the 'current date' field, which is the only thing I could think of that might be running every time the form is opened, and which might explain why the rights stay until the next day. However, if I try to recreate the problem by changing the date on my comp calendar and re-opening the forms, the usage rights are still sticking there fine.
    Do any of these seem like likely causes, or are there other scripts that might be hidden around on the form? What's the best way to check?
    Also, all of my scripts were written in Formcalc instead of Javascript - would this make a difference?

  • Why does the tab order I set change when I enable usage rights?

    I am using Adobe Pro 9.1.2 - set the tab order manually in a 4 page document - test everything - works great.  Then, I enable usage rights, go back into the document to test, and the tabbing is out of order again.  I have done this multiple times and what should have been a simple task is now taking hours to complete.  Help!!!  This didn't happen until I upgraded to this version.

    Helvetica Neu 10 pt is the default text style for Numbers tables.
    Setting a different style to one, some, or all cells does not make that different style the 'default.' Here's an example of the effects of three different sets of actions. All cells in the table had been set to display text as Jazz LET, 12 pt. The original content of B3, C3, and D3 was the same as is shown in C4. For each of the cells in row 3, the procedure described below was carried out, then the text shown was typed into the cell.
    When you Select a cell, then "Cut" the cell, the cut includes the text AND any style that has been set for that cell, and the cell reverts to the default style. See cell B3 in the example.
    If you Select the cell, Copy, then press delete, the text (and style) are copied, the content (text), but not the style, is deleted. See C3.
    If you click on the cell to select it, click again to place the insertion point in the cell (to edit the text), then Select the text and press delete (or Cut), then the text is removed from the cell, but the style remains. See D3.

    Barry
