How to set every weekly full backup in Shadow Protect (Storage Craft) schedule

On the Backup Jobs tab select New to create a new job. Follow the wizard to select the volumes you want to backup and where you want to save the backup images. On the schedule screen select Weekly. Set the day and time for the Full backup to run.

• TS4009 How do I get a full uk refund for additional storage bought but realized not needed?

How do I get a full uk refund for additional storage bought but realized not needed?
All I wanted to do was upgrade my ipad 2 to ios 6 but in my settings it was greyed out and it told me I did not have enough storage to upgrade so I bought additional icloud storage and realised that this made no difference whatsoever
Now I was a refund but typical apple, one click to buy but a million and a phone call to get back
I just want this iPad upgraded and my refund for storage that aint storage!?? and someone to explain to me in LAYMAN's terms what the difference is between iPad storage and iCloud and what is the point if you cannot upgrade even though you bought more storage!?
Thank you

Use instructions to downgrade your storage.
difference in laymans terms is simple. You ipad has local storage. Icloud is storage on apple server, that people by to create backup. Local storage for ipad can not be expanded. New ipad with bigger storage can be purchased and Apple makes them is up to 128 gigs size.

• How to create a new full backup alongside existing one?

I have recently reinstalled my MBP from scratch and installed some apps from scratch as well. I still have my old TM backup in a sparsebundle on my NAS (a ReadyNAS NV+).
I now would like to create a complete new full backup alongside my existing one. Or put differently, a new folder/backup inside the Backups.backupdb inside the mounted sparsebundle. Currently I see a folder called "XYZs MacBook Pro". I'd like that to be renamed to something like "XYZs Old MacBook Pro" and create a new full backup under "XYZs MacBook Pro".
I understand you end up having multiple folders inside Backups.backupdb if you have many Macs (with different MAC addresses). I only have one Mac, but want TM to treat my old previous backup (of the same MPB, hence with the same MAC address) as if it was from another Mac (with a different name).
With such a setup, I can still access backups from my previous installation of the same hardware by selecting another volume from TM (by holding Alt when clikcing at the TM icon) or with tools such as Back-In-Time.
Is there any way to achieve this? My sparsebundle is large enough to hold another full backup alongside the old one.
Thanks

But wait, you said if I erased the disk I get a new UUID. I did not erase it but I moved all files into a /Previous folder (after booting from the install DVD), then installed the system new, and then moved user data (and some Library and some application stuff) back from /Previous. So, I guess, I have no new UUID for my internal disk.
Ah, yes, that is different ("reinstalled from scratch" usually means erased). If the disk was never erased, it will still have the same UUID. But since you've moved or replaced virtually everything, it will all get backed up anyway.
I'm not sure why you did all that; the old +Erase and Install+ and +Archive and Install+ options no longer exist for Snow Leopard: there's just Install, which replaces OSX without touching anything else.
I wanted to have a *really clean* install as my old systems seemed to be messed up with some bad settings.
So, back to my original question: how can I make the new "XYZs MacBook Pro" appear alongside the old "XYZs MacBook Pro" and switch volumes when I start TM using the Option key?
Why would you want to do that? You can view and restore from any backup.
I figured that way I can keep all old backups from the old installation and not have TM retire old stuff. And start a new one from scratch for the new installation where things will get retired. Basically keep the two backups apart from each other and not see any of the old stuff unless explicitly mounted using the option key.
If I follow your approach, what happens to old files of the old disk/UUID? Will they get retired eventually? Would my original idea work as envisioned or would it retire old things nevertheless? If the latter is the case, it is of no use and your suggested approach is the better one.
Is there maybe a ay to force TM to start a new full backup?
Back up to a different place: a different HD or partition, or erase the current one.
Guess that's my only option then. I created a full bootable backup to en external USB disk using Carbon Copy Cloner. Erasing the internal disk and copying back using CCC will create a new UUID then I guess ...
I will try that in the next couple of days and report back here. Thanks a lot for all your help and explanations so far, much appreciated!

• How can I do a FULL Backup to Oracle 8i Database?

Hi,
We are using a product that uses Oracle 8i and we are trying to perform a FULL Backup to the database. I am not an oracle person and not sure how to do this.
Please also inform me on how to perform a FULL Restor for the backed up database. I would really appreaciate it.

Before I can amply reply to your post, I need to know what tools you have.
What is your O.S.?
What do you want to backup to? (Tape Drive/Hard Disk)
What time frame requirements do you have?
Are you running in Archive Log Mode? <-- (in case you do not know, log in with svrmgrl, connect internal, run ARCHIVE LOG LIST; and tell me what is reported on the top line of output.)
Do you have requirements that the database must be Online at all times?
Are you using 3rd party Backup Software, if so, which one(s)?
I know these are a lot of questions, but it helps me help you. :)

• How to view every frame, full res, in Viewer... settings?

Hi, We use a strobe flash to sync multiple cameras on a live shoot (DV, NTSC, SD footage). Since I began using FCP and multi-cam, I can not always find the frame where the strobe pulses. Is there a way to increase the viewer settings to view every frame in full res? I would only need this to find the sync point then adjust back to normal editing settings. Thanks.

In my ongoing HDV to SD investigations, I needed a view that was 1:1, and showed both fields of interlacing, and 100% seemed to be it - I think I just happened upon it, by trial and error.
Glad to be able to share though.
Some nice 100% view screen shots on my HDV page (shameless plug again)
http://www3.telus.net/bonsai/Step-by-Step.html scroll to the end.
While on that subject, MPEG StreamClip is the only viewer I know of that does the same thing for the playback of interlaced MPEG's, you set the window zoom to match the frame size, and you get 1:1 interlaced viewing, aspect corrected on the horizontal, not the vertical.
FCP, for the longest time, used to aspect correct on the vertical (scale the height, while keeping the width 1:1) but this is not what you want for seeing fields at 1:1. I'm glad to report FCP5 now scales the horizontal to correct aspect ratio (when view as square pixels is ticked) and keeps the vertical, and therefore the fields, at 1:1.
Quicktime, and VLC both do field blending when viewing interlaced mpeg's, so you don't see the real interlaced footage. I actually prefer to see interlacing in computer monitors, especially if it is updated, one field at a time, at 60 updated fields per second - I think MPEG Streamclip does this - it might not though - its hard to fully see, but it looks smoother than the canvas / viewer playback, which is 30 frames per second.

• RMAN weekly full backup and daily incremental backup script.

Hallo! I would like to implement an Oracle 10g database backup policy where every Sunday night at 10 pm, a hot full compressed database backup is done, for every other day i.e. Monday to Saturday, a daily incremental compressed backup is done also at 10 pm.
If anyone as an RMAN script that can perform such a backup, please provide me with it.
Thanks.

• How do to do a full backup?

Apple has a recall on my mac's hard drive. They have asked me to back up my hard drive before they replace it.. The problem is i have never done a backup, Can anyone explain to me what it is i need to do exactly? Please be as specific as possible. Thanks

The simplist way would be to get an external hard drive, and use SuperDuper or CarbonCopyCloner to create a duplicate of your hard drive. Once Apple installs a new hard drive, you can then use the external hard drive for Time Machine backups or periodic backups using another program.
I like, and use, external hard drives from OWC.
For my iMac, I mount the external drive on a BackPack, which keeps it from taking up desk space:

• HT4847 How do I get my full refund for the iCloud storage I bought yesterday, but have now switch back to the free 5GBs cause that's all I will ever need in that format

There's got to be a bunch of us who thought we were buying online storage we could use to store App's & movies ,tv shows. Well u can't so its been a day now I got 14 more to get a full refund. But that's the thing can't find out how to do that anywhere

Very bad customer service - I have found that my underaged daughter has apparently ordered extra storage and never used it in her iPad. iPad iCloud settings does not have a downgrading option - BUT LUCKILY we also have an iPhone in the same account. iPhone iCloud settings has the possibility to switch to free 5Gb setting. Really Apple - a rip off way to treat the customer. Shame on you. The only other way apparently is to order a call when it suits Apple (not you). Because of the difficulty I will inform the consumer authorities in my country for this behaviour of the great product but ill service company called Apple.

• How to set up automatic back up of an internal storage drive?

I am using Time Machine in conjunction with Time Machine Editor to perform scheduled back ups of my boot disk to an internal hard drive. However, I have two additional hard drives in my Mac Pro that I wish to use for (1) media libraries and (2) a back up of those media libraries. Thus far, I have been unable to figure out a way to use Time Machine to designate the second internal drive as a back up device for the first internal drive on which my media libraries are stored. Does anybody have a solution for setting this up using Time Machine or another utility or application?
Thanks in advance.

Time machine can have a substantial blacklist of files NOT to back up, if you prefer.
Some users have separated their Boot Drive, containing only System, Library, Applications, and the hidden unix files including paging/swap onto a separate drive. User files are moved off to a different drive.
In addition to a performance boost, a Boot Drive gives you remarkable flexibility in Backup solutions and upgrades.
For Backups, you can choose to backup the boot drive separately using the same or different methods.
For Upgrades, you can simply substitute a different boot drive whenever you wish, without having to cart all the User files with you and backup and restore them to the main drive. The main Admin account is present immediately. For the User accounts, only one minor change in Accounts is needed once to make them instantly available under a different system.

• Script for daily Incremental Backup with Weekly full back?

Hi Can abybody plz give me the scrip for the daily incremental backup and weekly full backup.
Do we need 2 different scripts each for Incrmental and Full Backup or one will do.
Thanx in advance
Gagan

I will suggest you always
-backup archivelog daily when after yours backup database completion
-keep two days archivelog out of yours database storage to others device or
always take frequent archivelog to tape cartrideg after an hour depends yours
database activity pace.
You should also include archivelog backup within these backup scripts to others teriotry device i.e tape cartridge as well keep frequent archivelog backup if you think yours backup storage space is an issue or if you dont trust on yours backup storage media, keep an alternate tape cartridge for archivleog for frequent archivelog backup after every one hours depends the pace of yours database activity.Either backup archivelog frequently or multiplex the archvivelog to other devices.
Now you probably may confuse thats why i need archivelog backup command within this script when i am going to take incremental/full backup, its due to some thing happened with yours last backup got corrupted then you have alternate to restore before last backup.
Mon Incremental + Archivelogs
Tue Incremental + Archvielogs
Wed Yours Database files got smokesWhat will you do
You will restore Tue backup and will apply alls redo from archivelogs which are generated to other devices yours data chances to be lost is minumum. You may lose only the current archivelog which is not yet to be log switched. If yours archivelog destination devices may corrupt then you have alternate to restore from tape cartridge.
If yours Tue backup cannot be restored even though you validate it after backup then you will have alternate to restore monday backup and you have backup of tue archivelog as well yours two days archivelog is also at another device then you may also recover the database till before crash. In this case you may lose only the current archivelog which is not yet to be log switched.
You cannot pile up archivelog to others device cause they begin to take a serious issue on disk thats why i mentioned two days archivelog to other device.
I hope now you clear why archivelog backup is essential with daily backup either its incremental or non incremental.

• Express Full Backups

Good Afternoon,
I am thinking about setting my express full backup to run during the day during the day to decrease supporting this at night. My question is will this impact our databases to the point of customer impact. We currently do 4 sync jobs a
day, then a full backup on Friday night. Just trying to make sure there is no impact.
Thanks

It will also depend on how you are setup, if you have a DAG you can run a full backup against the passive copy. I would suggest doing an EF once a day at night and sync to what your recovery goal needs are.
