How to set iPhoto/slideshow to 25fps?

is there any 'dirty hack' to set the exported framerate of an iP slideshow to 25fps?
I'm here in PAL land, a 30fps is of less use..
maybe manipulating the plist +et al+ ...??

Karsten:
One workaround would be to export the resulting iPhoto QT slideshow out of QT Player (Pro might be required) to DV-PAL where you can change the fps to 25. However it took a 12 MB QT movie I made in iPhoto and created a 247MB PAl movie. The original was 480 x 360 and the only PAL option is 768 x 576. However if the user is coming from a 640 x 480 iPhoto QT file the jump in file size probably won't be as dramatic.

Do you have a library on both machines?
IF not, then simply copy the iPhoto Library Folder from one machine to the other.
If yes, then you'll have to merge the two libraries, and for that you'll need iPhoto Library Manager, a shareware. It's the only way of doing a merge. You can download it from here:
    http://homepage.mac.com/bwebster/iphotolibrarymanager.html
You may need to change your Slideshow to an album first, then back to a Slideshow at the other machine. But give it a try.

  • How to publish iphoto slideshows to iweb?I

I want to publish slidshows that I made in iphoto on my website. Each time I try to load the pages, they appear to load, then I get a message saying that "work will continue for several minutes behind the scenes . . . leave this application open." After a long while, I receive a message saying my pages didn't load . . . "check your internet connection."
How do I get the slideshows onto my webpage with a reduced file size. I suspect that the slideshow files are too big. I see the slideshow folders in my movie/media list as .mov files, but I can't open the slideshow folders in imovie to reduce the file size in quicktime. When I try to click an drag them off the desktop or try to export them from iphoto to imovie to work with the file size, the folders just bounce right back.
    What am I doing wrong??
Also, I have a .com hosted with another host for my photography business. How do I link the slideshows to that website. I want to use the slideshows as a way to do a quick "proof session" with my clients.
    Thanks for the advice!

iPhoto gives you three size options to export your slideshow as a QuickTime file.
The smallest is not very good but gives the quickest download time. Just because iWeb tells you a movie is too big doesn't mean you have to listen!
Its a trade off between quality and download time.
.Mac galleries, iWeb galleries and Photo pages all go to thumbnails and the viewer has to start the slideshow.
You are going about things the right way to get a slideshow only. Once you have loaded it onto the iWeb page you can go to the "QuickTime" inspector and select "autoplay" etc. and also drag the placeholder to whatever size you want.

  • How to set iPhoto to use yahoo webmail rather than mail.app

When emailing from within iPhoto using the email icon or via the share menu option in the task bar, mail.app launches. I prefer to use (Yahoo) webmail, rather than use an email client, so how do I change this setting?
    Thx in advance.

    Mansel
Simply: you can’t, I’m afraid. This feature requires an E-Mail Client that supports Apple Script. Yahoo Mail is a service (not an client) that’s accessed via a Web Browser and it’s not Apple Scriptable.
    FYI:
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
    *For Users of 10.5 Only*
You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Apple-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
    *For users of 10.4 and 10.5* ...
Many internet sites such as Flickr and SmugMug have plug-ins for accessing the iPhoto Library. If the site you want to use doesn’t then some, one or any of these will also work:
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. However, if you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
*If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running*:
Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • How to export iPhoto slideshow to quicktime and then view on video iPod?

How do you export a slideshow to a Quicktime movie (from iPhoto) so that the resulting Quicktime movie is then viewable on an iPod?
I've exported slideshows (with transitions, specified Ken Burns effects, music, etc.) to Quicktime movies to try to view these on my iPod. I don't want to view my photo albums since they don't have of the effects that the slideshow has. There is an option to save the slideshow in a small file size that is presumably viewable on an ipod. About 80% of the time, however, the Quicktime movies are then NOT viewable on my iPod. My iPod just freezes when I try to start the movie.
Here are the steps I use to export
    1. From iPHoto Select the slideshow / File / Export / select small movie
    2. From iTunes / File / Import / select the Quicktime movie that was created from the slideshow
    Background info
    1. Apple G5 purchased in 2003, 2 CPUs, CPU Speed 2 GHz. Memory 2GB. Bus Speed 1 GHZ. CPU TYpe PowerPC 970 (2.2)
    2. iPhoto '08 version 7.1.1 (354)
    3. Video iPod purchased in May 2006. (60 GB). Uses iPod software version 1.2.3 (most current version for this iPod)
    4. Quicktime Player version 7.3.0 Player Version 7.3 (7.3)
I've tried synchronizing my iTunes with the Quicktime movie to a new iPod and that doesn't work either. I've tried many different approaches but none of these ever work. I'd really appreciate any thoughts or ideas you might have. Thank you!

You probably will need a 3rd party application to convert the . mov QT file that iPhoto creates into a format for the iPod. Some are VisualHub, ViddyUp, and iSquint. You can find them at VersionTracker.com.
    Happy Holidays
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • How to embed iPhoto slideshow in WordPress?

    My wife is asking me.

Tell her to export the slideshow from iPhoto. That will make a QuickTime movie of the slideshow. Once it's exported she'll need to upload it to her site. From there she'll need to contact Wordpress support for specific details on embedding.

  • Iphoto slideshow no music possible ...

in iPhoto I can only use the tidbits of music that was delivered with iPhoto but not  o n e  of my own songs or playlists. They show up but don't play.
I have already played around with div. aple.com.playlists but without success. I hve deleted iPhoto and loaded it again from the store, the same situation as before.
Please give me an advice how to get iPhoto-slideshows  w i t h  music.
    Thank You
    Roland from Austria

    Roland and topcop1,
I am experiencing the same problem... All the iPhoto Slideshow menu items appear to be working as they should, and I'm able to select iTunes songs, but they simply do not play in the slideshow...  Have the same problem on two different computers...
The music does, however, play if I open the iPhoto Library in Aperture, and play the slideshow from Aperture.
I'll continue to investigate...will probably send feedback to Apple...

  • How do I transfer iPhoto slideshows to a PC?

I was wondering how I would go about this. I have iPhoto (Version 2.0.1) for iPhone 5s running iOS 7.1.1.
My ultimate goal is to send this to my iMovie app (Version 2.0) to add music with precise timing, which you cannot do in iPhoto. I would then like to put the finished slideshow on Facebook. I have made the slideshow with a specific theme that I would like to keep. I can't duplicate this theme with a different program or software.
Help please. Any answers will be appreciated.

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • How do I save an iPhoto slideshow on my macbook air externally?

I have a macbook air (no CD slot) and am unsure how i can save an iPhoto slideshow externally from my mac.
In the past (on my packard bell laptop) I have always burned photos to a dvd and feel comfort knowing I have the pics externally  if anything should happen to the laptop.
I am still within my 14 day money back for the mac and am unsure whether i should change it for a macbook pro which has a cd slot.
Anybody any ideas how I can solve my problem and keep my macbook air?
Also, does my iPhoto slideshow stay in the iCloud?  Not sure how iCloud works.
    Thanks in advance.

Get yourself an external Hard Drive - USB, Thunderbolt, whatever your machine has ports for - and make back ups to that. DVD and other optical media is going the way of the floppy disk and in 5 years time you'll find it hard to get any machine with a built-in optical drive.
Once you get the drive make sure it's formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled) - you do this with Disk Utility
    Most Simple Back Up:
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex: Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically.
Example of such apps: Chronosync - but there are many others. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store
You can also export the slideshow - File -> Export -  this process makes a movie of it.

  • How to access iTunes playlist for iPhoto slideshow?

In iPhoto 6 when I am setting up a slideshow and click the "Music" button, I am given the option of accessing my full library from iTunes, but my Playlists don't show up anywhere, just the artists' names and individual songs,so I am able to choose just one song for an entire slideshow. How can I access my playlists in the Music settings for iPhoto slideshows?

I have the same problem, I click the arrows and the list drops but I can only select first tune from , sample, garage band, or library. This happens every time I install an update. In the past deleting iTunes playlist has cured the problem but has not worked this time.

  • How to Make  DVD Slideshow From iPhoto? I need help !!!!!

What's the easiest way to import about 160 photos from iPhoto to a DVD with background music to send to Grandmom as a slideshow? She's 83 and really wants to see a bunch of pictures of her grandkids, and loves the DVDs I've done in the past (using iLife '06). I now have iLife 2009.
I have attempted to get a DVD with music to burn, but it isn't working. As in the past, I have gone from iPhoto, dropping the selected photos into iMovie, added music from iTunes, and imported that to iDVD but it takes Sooooooo long (seems like this route used to be faster). Any way shorter? More efficient?
I do it that way because I recall that iDVD in prior versions was restricted to 99 photos, so I always went from iPhoto to iMovie to iDVD. But '09 is different than '06; I can't even get music to import from iTunes or play on the DVD I burned using this rather long procedure(not copy protected, either). So, I'm at a loss.
What am I doing wrong? How do I do it correctly?
Step by step instructions would be much appreciated!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You have to have a theme but you can have the slideshow begin automatically when the disk is inserted into a DVD player. Go to the Map mode in iDVD and drag the slideshow into the blue box at the far left:
But there has to be a theme for iDVD to drop back to when it finishes the slideshow. BUT you could set the slideshow to loop endlessly so it would never drop back to the theme unless you stopped it manually and exited to the theme. You set the repeat option in the Advanced menu.

  • How do I create the highest quality dvd of an iphoto slideshow?

I have created a large (550 photos) slideshow in iphoto using one of the iphoto templates and added music to the slideshow.  The photos are high quality/large file size photos.  I would like to then combine the iphoto slideshow with an imovie trailer.  When I have gone through through the process of exporting the slideshow out of iphoto and into imovie and then burning a disk with idvd, the quality of the dvd is poor.  I am using the latest versions of iphoto, imovie, and idvd.  I would appreciate any advice on how to produce the highest quality dvd from the slideshow as it is part of a gift recapping a trip.

Here's one approach: First crop the photos to the iDVD size ratio, 4:3.  Export the movie out of iPhoto via the Export button and select Size = Medium or Large.  Remember DVD video format is standard definition only.  All media gets reduced to 640 x 480 before burning to disk.
Don't add it to iMovie as that just adds another layer of compresson/encoding to it.
In iMovie create the trailer and use the Share ➙ Media Browser option.  This produces a better file image than the Share ➙ iDVD option.
In iDVD create a Slideshow and add the trailer from the Media/Movies pane and drag the iPhoto movie after it.
Set transitions to None and slide duration to anything but Manual.  Do not add any audio.
Follow this workflow to help ensure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
If you find that the resulting movie/slideshow extends off the TV screen and looses some of the image you can set the iDVD/Slideshow preferences to Scale Photos to TV Safe Area.
That may add black areas to each side of the movie depending on the size ratio of the TV screen and aspect ratio set in the DVD player.
NOTE: if you have access to a copy of iMovie 6 HD I suggest you use it for your slideshow from photos and the trailer.  It produces the best results with iDVD and allows far better audio control.  If you do have that version just drag the completed iMovie project file into iDVD to avoid another layer of encoding/compression.

  • How to restart a slideshow after one ends. Automator/iPhoto

    So this is the idea
I want to set up a slideshow playing at an event.
The slideshow will contain pictures from my photostream being uploaded from my iPhone.  I would like the slideshow to automatically update with the new pictures from my photostream, but it doesn't look like iPhoto can update with new photstream pictures while the slideshow is running.  If anyone knows how to do this it would make things a lot simpler.
Since I don't think the above is possible
I'm looking for a way to trigger a script or an automator process that will restart the iphoto slideshow automatically when the iPhoto slideshow ends.
In effect, I will be running a slideshow of my photostream pictures, the slideshow will end, iPhoto will then update with all the new photostream pictures, and then the slideshow will restart, adding the new photos to the next slideshow.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Yes, it was 9 months ago. Let me think. I don't have the settings anymore because I had to replace my harddrive :(
I actually set up Automator to do two different slideshows.
One in iPhoto and one in aperture.
Since iPhoto won't load new icloud photos during a slideshow I made it to where iPhoto would run and then when it was done aperture would load another slideshow and iPhoto would update in the background. Then the cycle would restart.
I had it to where automated would trigger when the icloud folder had new content loaded to it, iPhoto's slideshow would start. Then an automator timer would countdown, then trigger finder to copy the iPhoto icloud folder contents to the aperture folder during the iPhoto slideshow. When it was done copying (or timer based, can't remember) Automator stopped the iPhoto slideshow, and started the aperture slideshow, allowing time for iPhoto to download more new pictures. I had Automator set to five minutes and it would turn the aperture slideshow off and then start the iPhoto slideshow again and it would start over.
You'll need to put everyone on to an icloud account you set up (and make sure that you take them off or they do, I was receiving some...interesting photos unknowingly for months and then found them later...)
There may be much easier or better ways to do this, or programs that do it now. I had 4 days to figure it out and so I didn't have a lot of research time.

  • How can I use my itunes library for iphoto slideshow?

how can I use my itunes library for iphoto slideshow?

    Here's a possible workaround:
Create the slideshow in Iphoto and add a theme and music.
Install Picasa  and it will include the slideshow on it's indexed list.
Upload the slideshow to PicasaWebAlbums and send the link to anyone you wish.
The music and theme is preserved.
Caveat: My playback pictures appear darker than usual but that could be just lousy photography...:)
