How to set MinGALSearchLength on Exchange Online

I read that I can set
MinGALSearchLength in web.config at
\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\ClientAccess\Sync\ .
But how can I set this parameter in case of Exchange Online?

I doubt you will really be surprised if you hear the answer: you cant. Any setting that is controlled on the server level is not configurable with EO, as it will affect other customers as well. One of the benefits of using a multitenant environment :)

    Hello Alicia,
You will have to check with your schools IT pages, or contact them directly.
They will tell you how to set up your Mail account, (if you have to use the Microsoft Exchange or Other in Add Account...)
They can also tell you if you there are any other security steps that might have to be taken as well to allow you access.

  • Exchange Online (O365) and Exchange 2013 On-Premise, Public Folder issues?

    Hello,
I have recently migrated from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013 on premise (decommissioned the old server) and migrated my public folders to the new mailbox architecture found in Exchange 2013.
We are also hybrid setup with Office 365 and Exchange Online (AD FS and Password Sync). For our on-premise Exchange we use Split DNS.
What I am trying to do now is give my Exchange Online users the ability to see our on-premise public folder infrastructure however I am not having any luck in getting this to work.
On premise I have the "PublicFolderMaster" mailbox which is the Primary Public Folder Mailbox, and PublicFolderMailbox1 which is the secondary mailbox (where all the public folder data is).
How do I configure my Exchange Online to allow the users to see on-premise public folders? I tried..
    Set-OrganizationConfig -PublicFoldersEnabled Remote -RemotePublicFolderMailboxes PublicFolderMaster,PublicFolderMailbox1
In my O365 user's Outlook I see Public Folders, but when I try to expand it I get an error saying unavailable...
    What am I doing wrong?

Or must I follow all these steps in addition to the last step above?

  • Exchange Online users logging into OWA On Premises.

    Greetings!
We are implementing hybrid Exchange Online with Exchange 2013, and we face the following situation:
When an Exchange Online user tries to access through OWA on-premises, a page appears with a link to the Exchange Online OWA.
Is it supposed to be this way?
Why the redirection is not automatic?
Seems so obvious that the redirect should be automatic that if it is to be this way (the user having to click the link), there must be some technical justification. Can anyone refer me some article about it? For to convince the top brass of the company here
that it has to be like that!
    Thanks in advance !!!
    Fabio Martins MCDST/MCSA Brasil!!!

    Hi
As per the information and details provided by you, to solve the problem of Exchange online users logging into OWA on Premises, please follow these steps: -
The user will be able to use the
OWA URL points to the on-premises Exchange 2013 server. On the redirection page, you can choose to
save the new URL to his browser favorites and click on the URL.
When clicking on the URL, the user will be taken through the authentication process. For OWA, that means that you can try to access his mailbox in Exchange Online &
Exchange online will redirect the user to “login.microsogtonline.com”, where
    you can enter UPN.
Once the UPN is entered and you switches to the password field, Office 365 will detect that the UPN domain is federation with an Office 365 tenant. This result in a redirect
to the on-premises federation endpoint (in this case sts.clouduser.dk) and depending on whether the user is domain joined and domain-connected or uses an external client, you will get
single sign-on (SSO) or be required to enter your UPN and password.
Because of the organizational relationship that was set up between Exchange Online and Exchange on-premises during the Exchange hybrid configuration lookups when booking
meetings, mail tips, etc. also work as expected from Exchange Online to Exchange on-premises and vice versa.
I hope this information will be helpful for you.
    Thanks and regards

  • How to set a thumbnail photo in Azure AD? Sync thumbnail photos between Exchange Online and Azure AD?

We're interested in downloading the thumbnail photo for users in an O365 tenant using the REST API, but we're stumped regarding how to set a thumbnail photo for a user in Azure AD.  We haven't found a way to do it via the user interface and it doesn't
appear to sync between Exchange Online and Azure AD.  The only sync reference we've been able to find is between Windows Server AD and Azure AD which is not applicable in our use case?
Any pointers on how to get the thumbnail photo set?

    Greetings!
You may use the sample (Malar has shared above) which helps how to query Azure AD using the Graph API, demonstrates additional REST functionality to Get and Set User Details, including thumbnail photos.
    Would like to add:
    http://matthewyarlett.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/add-or-update-user-profile-picture.html
You can use the AD module for PowerShell for getting / setting the AD user.
Would like to re-iterate that there are constraints on the sizes and formats supported for the
thumbnailPhoto Active Directory attribute. As a general guideline, keep your images to 96x96 pixels and under 10Kb, using JPG format.
    Thank you,
    Arvind

I just finished migrating a client from Google Apps to Microsoft Exchange Online using the IMAP option in the Microsoft Online Services Migration Tool.
I added the mailboxes by creating a CSV file [i.e. GoogleApps(Gmail)_Mailboxes.csv] in the following format:
    SourceIdentity,SourceServer,SourceLoginID,SourcePassword,TargetIdentity
    [email protected],imap.gmail.com,[email protected],P@ssword1,[email protected]
    [email protected],imap.gmail.com,[email protected],P@ssword2,[email protected]
    [email protected],imap.gmail.com,[email protected],P@ssword3,[email protected]
Then I created a custom folder map XML file [i.e. GoogleApps(Gmail)_FolderMap.xml] to map the Google Apps (Gmail) labels to the appropriate Exchange (Outlook) mailbox folders and create those that didn't exist (i.e. Important, Starred, Follow up,
Misc, Priority) as sub-folders under the Inbox:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <FolderMappings xmlns="http://tempuri.org/FolderMap.xsd">
<!-- This xml contains the mapping of foldername in source server to folders in target server -->
    <!--
"path" is the name of the folder in source server
"Name" is the name of the folder to be mapped into target server
"SpecialFolder" is the name of the special folder to be mapped into

Additionally, I had to tell the Internet E-mail Mailbox Migration Wizard to use the "Individual Account Credentials" option since I was able to specify each account password in the CSV file when adding the mailboxes to Microsoft Online Services Migration
    Tools console.
Just to note, the users had to manually export their contacts to a CSV file and calendars to iCal (ICS) files in order to import those items into Outlook.
I hope this will benefit others since Microsoft doesn't seem to have a custom, specifically defined migration strategy for this scenario.  With Google Apps being in direct competition with BPOS/Office365, I assumed that Microsoft would have a simple
strategy using something like ActiveSync to facilitate the migration of email, contacts, calendar entries, etc.  Hopefully we'll see something along those lines become available in a future release of the migration tools.

How to set security group as primary site collection admin and secondary site collection admin using powershell in sharepoint online site - office 365?

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to set security group as admin of primary and secondary site collection using PowerShell command in office 365.
I suggest you can use the command below to set the group to site owner, then it will have the site collection admin permission.
Set-SPOSite -Identity https://contoso.sharepoint.com/sites/site1 -Owner [email protected] -NoWait

  • What is the behavior of items in an Exchange Online Inactive mailbox that were under a Litigation Hold for a set period of time.

I am specifically asking what happens to the items in an Inactive Mailbox that was placed on Litigation Hold prior to Deletion when the Litigation Hold has say a '6 mo.' Retention Period assigned.
Do any of those items 'expire' out of the mailbox?  Do only the items in the 'Admin' folders of the Deleted Items get removed, or none?
I am not asking about recoverability of that mailbox, more of what the behavior is specifically when the Litigation Hold is set to expire after a certain amount of time.

There is no expiration, check the blog post here:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2013/03/21/preserve-mailbox-data-for-ediscovery-using-inactive-mailboxes-in-exchange-online.aspx
All content in an inactive mailbox is on hold until you remove the hold from the mailbox.

  • How much access does an Exchange Admin have to their servers in Exchange Online?

Hello, my company is looking at moving our Organization to Exchange Online, and I have only begun researching what this means for me as an Admin.  Does the on-premise Exchange Admin still have access to create/configure objects such as  DAGs
and Databases and use tools like MFCMAPI and Logparser to troubleshoot IIS and other types of logs?   I've been looking around and so far haven't found any documentation that gives a great amount of detail on how much of my environment I will actually
    still be managing.  Thanks.

    Hiya,
There shouldn't be anything to be afraid of, it's likely that the role of Exchange Administrator will change as more and more companies adopt Office 365, but I would see this as an ideal opportunity to embrace these changes, broaden your existing Exchange
knowledge with that of the other services offered through Office 365 such as Lync Online and SharePoint Online and become the Office 365 Administrator within your company.
The offerings in Office 365 are changing at a rapid pace, with more and more features being added every month, couple that with Mobile Device Management using Microsoft Intune - if you fully embrace it, you will be offering your end users more flexibility
and making them more productive in no time.

  • How to remove repeated mails in exchange online outlook web app

    Hi,
Any help me , how to remove repeated mails in exchange online outlook web app . As we are in process of migrating mailboxes to office 365 . We have migrated 5 mailboxes . But when i checked outlook web app after migration completed , i could see repeated
mails . When i compared with on premise outlook and office 365 outlook web app  , there was lot of differences in read and unread mails .
Customer is expecting , same read and unread count should be replicated to office 365 owa.
Please suggest me to prevent this problem . As this is very urgent to give solution to customer .
    Big thanks in advance.
    Vinoth .

If you've setup Outlook 2013 so it's connected to Office 365, and you've import the .pst file into Outlook, it will be showing as another "mailbox" within Outlook, but default called "Personal Folders" (unless you renamed it when it was created).
You should find that you can simply copy the mail items / folders from Personal Folders into their new home in the Office 365 mailbox. Once that's done Outlook will synchronise the items with o365 which may obviously take a while to complete, but once it's
finished those messages will be available online.
