How to set Reader to open in new window

I have .pdf documents into which I have inserted links to other .pdf documents using pdfEdit995 (I am a 77-year-old recording monumental inscriptions, not very computer literate and not able to afford expensive applications !)
The links look like :-
[ /Rect [85 225 107 228]
/Border [ 0 0 0 ]
/Action /Launch /File (.\\Another Folder\\TARGET FILE.PDF)
/Subtype /Link
/ANN pdfmark
The links work fine, but open in the same window, which is annoying as it is then neccessry to re-open the original document before moving to the next link.
pdf995 support say that perhaps Adobe reader can be set to open in a new window, but I want this to be the default when I circulate my file to intersted people, so would prefer to modify the links.
Can anyone help with a smple solution ? (I also believe in Santa Claus !)

No part of this question appears to involve GoLive. You should be asking this in a pdf995 forum, or at the very least, an Acrobat/Reader forum here.

  • Can the "Finder" icon be set to always open a new window?

    Can the "Finder" icon (on the dock) be set to simply open a new window every time when clicked? Instead of always selecting the dialog "new finder window" under "File" ? Or having to right clicking on the FINDER dock icon, then selecting "new finder window".
    I'd like to simply click on the finder icon and have a new window just open every time.
    Same with Safair. Simply click on the "Safari" dock icon, and a new blank safari window would open, instead of selecting "new window" under safari "File" menu.
    I don't know if this can be set by setting a command via terminal, or ?
    There are no options under preferences to do this.
    Usually there is some "command line" done within the terminal app, to tweek most default settings, like what I want to do...?

    The easiest way to open new windows in Finder, Safari and just about any other program in Mac OS X is to use the keyboard shortcut, 'Command' + 'n'

  • Can I set Safari to open a new window when I click on it in the dock?

    is there a way to set my safari to open a new window when i click on it in the dock i surf multiple websites at once and i dont like how i have to right clik and scroll up to pick open a new window. can i set it to just open a new window instead of opening the page that already opened

    yeah, instead of using multiple windows, you can use multiple tabs inside one window. That way, you can browse multiple websites at once without having to flick back and forth between multiple windows.
    To open tabs of the websites you want to browse, just right-hand click on whatever website you want to visit (For example a site from your bookmarks or a site from a Google search result) and select 'open link in tab'.

  • When I click on an email link it opens in the email window instead of opening a new window, how to get it to open a new window instead

    It's Comcast email, most links are to articles from the Wall Street Journal. Lately an email from Charles Schwab broker with a link to a pdf file has been doing the same. When I click on the link, it opens within the email frame, which is about 1/3 filled up with the toolbar, mailboxes, headings etc. If it opens with 2 bars on the right side to move down, I can see the whole article, but often it opens with only one bar on the right side which will not let me get all the way to the end of the page.
    It's been happening for several weeks. I got a new computer and it's still happening. Comcast sounds like they've never heard of it. Most recently happened today. I tried the same email link with IE and it opened a new window.

    Firefox sent an email to me to confirm that I had asked the above question. The email had a link to click. When I clicked it from Firefox, nothing happened. Then I opened IE, signed into Comcast, opened the email, clicked the link, and it brought me here.

  • Does any version of InDesign let you set hyperlinks to open in new window?

    I'm converting some InDesign books to pdf and epubs and my client wants the hyperlinks to open in new window when these files are viewed in browsers. so far no version I've tried has this capability.

    It must be done in Acrobat. Ask in the Acrobat forums.

  • How to force safari to open a new window when dock icon is clicked

    If Safari is already running on my MacBook Yosemite, and I click on the Safari icon in the dock, the Safari window is brought forward.  The behavior  I want is whenever I click the safari icon on the dock, is that a new safari browser window is opened.  I don't see this option in preferences (or any keyboard  mouse combination) that would make the dock icon open a new browser window.    (an option is available for new windows if you click on a hyperlink, but not if you click on the dock icon) .
    p.s. And I don't want to first  have to place focus on the current running safari and then click File New...too many steps when all I want is a new browser window
    Thanks in advance

    Hi css,
    Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
    I understand that you would like to click on Safari in your Dock and have it open a new Safari Window. As you said in your post, clicking on Safari in the Dock brings the Safari window forward. There are a couple of possibilities to help resolve this situation. You can control-click (right click if enabled) on Safari in your Dock which will give you the option to open a new window. You can also click and hold on Safari, otherwise known as Press, to display these same options.

  • How to set homepage to open in new tabs

    Since new Firefox 5, I have lost the add-on that sets my homepage (google) to open when I open a new tab. I really want this back. I have looked thru the add-on list and haven't found anything. Is there another way to do this?

    You can modify Firefox with and extension, I personally would not want that at all, before dismissing a tab I make sure there is nothing in the tab in a backward direction, and the and would consider looking a anything but a blank page for a new tab as a distracting encumbrance but you can do what you ask for with the following:
    *NewTabURL :: Add-ons for Firefox<br>https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/newtaburl/
    I have three pages on my own on tabs
    * Tabbed Browsing in Firefox<br>http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/tabs.htm
    * Tabs configuration, extracted from About:config entries - MozillaZine Knowledge Base<br>http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/tabs_config.htm
    * 001 Tab Capacity and other Tests<br>http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/tab_capacity/001_with_underscore.htm
    I also like to change the styling on tabs and other chrome aspects of Firefox

  • How do I stop links opening in new windows?

    I've created a electronic document using links from Adobe Acrobat 9 pro, I click on the created links to open a new pdf file and then within the
    newly opened pdf I've created a go to page view link to take me back to the page within the document I was just in. Everything stays in the existing
    window and no new windows open when I'm using Adobe Acrobat 9 pro but when I start using Adobe Reader 9 to open the document the functionality
    changes, instead of everything opening in the existing window it opens new windows. This only happens on the go to page view link, the open file link
    opens it in the same window. How do I stop go to view links stop opening new windows and get it to open in the existing window?

  • How do I make hyperlinks open in new window?

    Hi, I'm using Acrobat X Pro.  I have a pdf uploaded to a website, and within that pdf are two hyperlinks to other websites.  Currently, if I click on the links, they open in the same window.  How do I make the hyperlinks open in a new window by default? In Acrobat X Pro, I tried editing the hyperlinks by right-clicking them and selecting properties, but I don't see an option to specify how the link should open.  Is this option available for web links?

    I think the best you can do is use the app.launchURL JavaScript method and specify that you want to open in a new window:
    // Script for link action
    app.launchURL({cURL: "http://www.example.com", bNewFrame: true});
    For this method's documentation, see: http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.150.html

    hello, you may have various malicious addons and software present. please perform all these steps:
    # [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems|reset firefox]] (this will keep your bookmarks and passwords)
    # afterwards go to the firefox menu ≡ > addons > extensions and in case there are still extensions listed there, disable them.
    # finally run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes] and [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner] to make sure that adware isn't present in other places of your system as well.

  • Appraisal form doesn't open in new window

    Hi Guru's,
    We are using the BSP application HAP_Document. For the employee we use the "page with flow logic" (SE80) documents_receives_open2.html. This gives an overview of open appraisals.
    Our problem is, that when an employee clicks on the link to an appraisal form, that the form opens in the same frame. It should open in a new window.
    Hope you can tell me how we can adjust this.
    Thanks!
    Marco

    Hope you've set the option 'Open In New Window' in BSP iView properties.
    Also check that  In homepage config. for resource which calls this application.For url for pcd page
    Replace roles with exroles for e.g. exroles://portal......
    This two suggestions solve you issue,

  • Opening a new window via Flash

    HI everyone
    To reuse some code, I have made an application using HTML
    that incorporates a flash. The flash, however, contains a link that
    does not open a new window when it's suppose to in adobe air. The
    link opens in a new window when running it in a web browser.
    Why is this the case? Do i have to call another function in
    flash when it's being executed in Adobe Air?

    How are you trying to open the new window? navigateToURL will
    always open in a browser...

  • Force documents to open in new window for all users?

    Is there a way to force all portal users to open their documents in a new window? I know individual users can do it through the my account page, but is there a way to set the default as "open in new window"?

    Open this file:
    \plumtree\settings\portal\portalconfix.xml
    Find and change this setting:
    The default setting for the open in new window preference.
    0 = same window.
    1 = new window.
    Users can override this setting by changing their personal preferences.
    <setting name="OpenNewWindow">
    <value xsi:type="xsd:integer">0</value>
    </setting>
