How to set reports server environment

Hi..
Now Oracle 9iAS r1 (reports60) was installed on Linux, Unix and NT for testing.
I typed like below in web browser .
http://IP:Port/dev60cgi/rwcgi60/showenv?server=ServerName
then Oracle Reports environment variants(REPORTS_PATH, REPORTS... so on..) did not set . except PATH, LI_LIBRARY_PATH and ORACLE_HOME variants like below..

I can set it with editing registery on Windows.
But thought I set it with export option at .bash_profile, reports60.sh and reports_server on Unix platform, it did not affected.
Please let me know how to set reports environment on Unix.

The reports CGI is started from script rwcgi60. Did you set those env variables in rwcgi60? Or did rwcgi60 call reports60.sh to set env variables? Please check.

How to set report server to process 2 reports concurrently?

Dear Sir,
I'm using Oracle9iAS R2 Enterprise edition.
Can the report server be configured to handle 2 concurrent requests?
Reason being our production system, when one big report is being generated, the small report that comes second will need to wait for the first report to finish.
As a result, the users experience slowness in generating the report because it got queued in the report server.
Any way to configure report server to process reports concurrently?

Would like to check with you the behaviour of report server when I have set the maxEngine to 2.
Assuming:
I run report A, take 5 minutes to complete.
At the same time (before report A finishes) I run report B, take 1 minute to complete.
Before report B finish, I run report C, which will also take 1 minute to complete.
My questions are,
1. Will report C be queued under 1st report engine or 2nd report engine?
2. Will report C be processed as soon as report B is completed while report A is still generating?

Hi. A JDBC connection pool is a set of identical, interchangeable, pre-made
connections, and the controls to make sure only one user uses a particular
connection at any one time. If you want to have different DBMS users, you can
have a separate pool for each DBMS user, which may contain as many or few
connections as you want. Some applications has a pool for the accounting
applications, and another for the sales applications etc. Some do have a
separate pool for john, jane, joe etc, each with one connection. Pools
can be created and destroyed dynamically using the dynamic pool API.

Hi,
Server and envid are the parameters passed along with Reports URL call.
These variables value can be traped in Report by defining SERVER , ENVID named user parameters.
Once trapped, can be printed on Report.
Just ensure that these users parameters are not exposed to Parameter page, otherwise user may end up changing it.

It appears you have to change the password first(it could the same password but an alter command needs to be done)

How to change Report Server 10.1.2 from GMT to EST

We have the 10.1.2 Oracle Application Server up and running but the time on the Report Server is GMT. How can the time be changed to EST? Oracle suggested changing a value in a parameter file and a Windows environment variable, neither of which worked. Now, they are saying reinstall the Web Server. Is there any other way? How is this set during the install?

it was better if you created table first.
now create table for your server name and use select into statment.
and after this if any happend you will be able to change the server name easily by
modifying table.

How to set the Server CLASSPATH?

Hi all Oracle Java experts,
I know this is a rather stupid questions:
Where can I set the CLASSPATH of the Servlet Engine in Oracle 8.1.7.?
I spent hours now searching the documentation and found loads of hints what to add to the CLASSPATH in which circumstances, but not how to... Of course I know how to use the CLASSPATH in a normal Java environment, but not in the OSE.
In the "Oracle8i Application Developer's Guide - XML" it says in the "Using XSQL Servlet" Chapter:
"How you set the CLASSPATH of the web server's Servlet environment and how you associate a Servlet with a file extension are done differently for each web server. The XSQL Servlet's Release Notes contain detailed setup information for specific web servers you might want to use with XSQL Pages."
Unfortunately, the Release Notes contain this information for Tomcat, Apache JServ etc., but not for Oracle's own Servlet Engine... Maybe you should include that information.

Not sure if I understatnd the context in which you want to set your classpath.
IDE, java or system but ...
look at the profile file /etc/profile
CLASSPATH= "/usr/local/jdk1.4......"
export CLASSPATH
or
javac -classpath .;/usr/local/jkd1.4.... test.java
or
whatever your ide provides.

How to rename Report Server

I would like to rename my report server that I see listed in OEM. I was reading the documentation on forms/reports integration and it states that there cannot be an underscore in the report server name. My report server does have an underscore. I would like to take this out, any ideas on how I can do this?
btw, I am running 9ias v9.0.2 on win2000

During 9iAS installation, reports servers are automatically registered with OEM. If you add a reports server (ocareports, for example) after installation, AND you want OEM to manage it, you must manually register the server with OEM.
     Edit the targets.xml file located in the Oracle-Home/sysman/emd directory. (Before making changes, please make a backup of the file).
     Using the following syntax, enter the information about the new reports server. The ocareports server information is used as an example:

     The user name and password are for the reports services administrator account (ias_admin). Initially the password entry should be entered as xxxxxx and encrypted should be set to false. OEM will encrypt the password and reset encrypted to true.

How to set up Oracle Environment... ?

I have a fresh copy of Oracle Enterprise Linux with Oracle 11g R1 installed.
Steps that I did and I am trying to understand……
1.     Boot the OEL server.
2.     From remote connection, using PUTTY, I connect to the OEL
3.     I am setting the variables(ORACLE_HOME & ORACLE_SID) with the ‘export’
4.     Login to sqlplus as sys with sysdba
5.     Started the database. Everything is fine!
6.     If I logout of PUTTY and log back all my step 3 variables are gone.
7.     You know now I can’t start the Oracle database without error.
My question is……
How to make the proper environment for Oracle database?
Do I have to have the above two variable populated all the time. Does these two variables need to be part of any login script (for root)? Once session (shell) has to be running all the time?

For starters, there are several shell environments that you could have set as your default, such as: sh, csh, ksh, bash, tcsh, zsh, or rc.
Depending which shell environment you have set, you may or will have a different startup file when you login.
But the basics still apply:
For the most part, the first thing is that you should not be running anything as root (related to Oracle).
Oracle should have its own userid and be part of the DBA group.
Perhaps you mistyped.
Next, yes, your environment variables will need to be reset when you log back in.
There are a number of ways to accomplish this.
One of the most popular ways (although I don't necessarily agree), is to set the environment variables in your login startup script.
for example, your .profile (dot-profile). For ksh shell, for example, this is run at start up when you log in, after your session has read the /etc/profile script for system wide settings.
If the environment variables are set correctly, they are exported, which is sourced as your login script runs.
Alternately, (which I prefer), is you can 'source' the environment variables yourself.
This is done differently again depending on your default shell.
For ksh, you simply type . <shell script name>. (That is: dot-space-scriptfile)
It is important that you include a space between the dot and the file to be executed.
This will allow you to spawn additional windows from your main window and carry those env parameter settings forward.
Another option, preferred by Oracle, is that you set the Oracle $PATH in your login script (.profile or whatever), and then execute . oraenv. (dot-space-oraenv). This sources the parameters that are set when you run the oraenv which sets things such as your ORACLE_SID and ORACLE_HOME.

How to Check Report Server Service

I have installed Report 6i on NT - Report server and Report Developer on my PC and am running Forms on web successfully , but when I call a report from the web form (thru Run_Product) I am facing problem to see the report output in the browser (report made recently in Report 6i). The report runs well as a standalone in the previewer.
Can anybody tell me how to check whether the Report Server process running or not I mean whats its name and also whether the Report Server is installed as a service or not how to check ?

Based on my experience, you can use ReportingService2010.FindItems Method or ReportingService2010.ListChildren Method to return items from a report server database or SharePoint library that match the search criteria or get a list of children of a specified
folder. And then judge whether the item exists. For the details, please refer to the link:

How to set the proxy server host and port in the JAVA_ARGS list in the iasenv.ksh file? IAS 6.5 is the server being used.

Below is what needs to be done.
1. Edit the variable JAVA_ARGS in iasenv.ksh to include the -Dhttp.proxyHost. For example, the JAVA_ARGS looks like this : JAVA_ARGS="-Xss512k -Xms64m -Xmx64m -Dhttp.proxyHost=proxy.myhost.com -Dhttp.proxyPort=8080"
2. This JAVA_ARGS is the one under the kjs script settings. You will find this below the comment ## Set all user level JVM flags for KJS here.
3. Now stop and restart the application server.
4. Any new URL connections from the servlets/applications within the appserver will now go through the proxy server.
I have tested this on iAS6.0 SP3. But this should work in 6.5 too. Please let me know if this helps.
