How to set SMS editor languange permanently ?

Hi, I use Nokia E52. Since some time I cannot write SMS messages, because strange letters appear in SMS editor. Options -> Text language show me that Cestina language ist set. This is the first from the choice. When I set any other language like English or my Polish press OK and return to the editor I can write one letter and after it the editor switches back to Cestina language. How can I set the proper language permanently ? Alternatively how to reset the E52 to the factory state completely ?
Thank you in advance for your help

Hi JudaZ, thank you for your answere. I was trying to identify my mobile phone. It seems to be E52 . I tried many times, but I couldnt find the menu entries you suggested to choose. In editor options i only have the following entries:
        "add the receiver",
       "put in (template)",
       "sending options",
       "message details",
       "text language",
       "help",
       "leave" .
This is my free translation from polish. Under "sending options" I have the following:
                                  ->SMSC Centernet,
       "Keys codings"->"full or limited service",
       "receiving reports"->"no",
"how long the message is valid"->"24h",
       "message send as"->"text"
"answere by the centr." -> "no"
I tried each entry. Nothins has helped. The language is Cestina all the time !
I'd be thankfull if you help me and answere one more

  • How to Set Up TextEdit as an HTML or Plain Text Editor?

How to Set Up TextEdit as an HTML or Plain Text Editor?

    Well,
There are 5 choices to choose from on the page. In the description of the choices at the bottom of the page there are 7, and the two additional choices talk about having to first have registered the site with SSO. So...I'm interpreting that as meaning that other 2 possible choices would be displayed if the site is registered with SSO. That, plus the fact that the page which describes how to add the site to SSO seems to think that the SSO choices are displayed in the wizard.
So, no, there's no "exact launguage" that says what the reason is for the choices not being displayed. Can you point me to some exact language that tells me how to get those choices displayed?

  • Permanent wired connection for Time Machine how to set up

Just upgraded from 10.4 to 10.5.3 and I like to give TM a go but it seems to only work over wireless.
I see in the forums that some references are made as to making the first backup over Ethernet. However I do not seem to find how to set this up.
I would do my backups over my Ethernet network to my server with a external HD attached.
And I would like to do my backups only over Ethernet, is this possible?
    Thanks

Ethernet needs to be an active network service in System Prefs/Network.
Before turning Time Machine on, with your MBP connected via Ethernet, Open System Prefs/Network and activate Built-In Ethernet, then move Built-In Ethernet to the top of the network interface list so it is the first choice. Then mount the destination drive on your MBP and in TM Prefs set that drive as the TM destination, make sure TM is set to NOT erase the destination drive, and turn TM on.
Your MBP should then back up to the desired mounted volume over Ethernet. Ethernet is faster than wi-fi, so your first backup with Time Machine will take less time.
Thereafter, if Time Machine is on it will attempt to back up every hour provided it can find and mount the destination volume. If that happens wirelessly it's no big deal because subsequent backups don't take all that long. If the destination volume is not available TM will simply wait until the volume can be seen again, and then continue.
One caveat: Since TM backs up a new copy of every changed file, very large files, such as a movie, Windows partition or Entourage mail database, can lengthen the time required for subsequent TM backups and use up space faster on the destination. Very large files like this I exclude from TM backup and back up separately.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can anyone guide me how to sync sms on iphone to pc and also what setting need to be done to make sure sms remain in iphone indefinitely - need to keep record for work purpose. thanks.

Need help from the expert on how to sync sms on iphone to pc and how to make sure that sms on iphone is not being deleted - need to keep sms for office record purpose

You mean take the cover off of the iPhone, to look inside?  I'd recommend against it.  Even with warranty expired, you might qualify for an out-of-warranty service, which for 3GS is $149.
Other than that, any repair/service options are going to cost money.  You might want to see if a wireless carrier will let you get a new contract & phone.
Out of curiousity, you're just using at as, basically, an iPod Touch, if there's no cell provider?  Did I understand that correctly?

for some reason my system doesn't have anything set for $EDITOR. Obviously I could set it with

  • How do I make screen arrangement permanent?

How do I make screen arrangement permanent?  I set it in system preferences -> arrangement tab, but it switches back after a reboot.  I have 3 external monitors.  One being driven by the DVI port and the other two by two USB display adapters (Display Link with latest drivers installed).  I have the DVI monitor in the middle and the two USB monitors on both sides.

Here is a reply I posted about Dual Monitor problems on another thread, whereby Mountain Lion forgets the arrangment of the monitors, I wonder if a similar approach may work with your particular case?
Possible Solution.... needs testing, but initial trial has been successful. Does this work for anyone else?
There are two .plist files I have identified which record the screen arrangement:
/Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver.plist     (top level library, not user library)
    ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.windowserver.FE******-****-****-****-**********2E.plist
(user library, where *** are unique code) I think the first drives the system arrangment (e.g., login window at startup etc), and the second is a user's own setup.
I modified the screen and menu arrangement through System Preferences, which modified file (1).
Using a text editor I copied and pasted everything into a new blank document and saved as com.apple.windowserver.plistthen duplicated the file and named it as per file (2). *even though there were some minor differences.
I backed up and deleted the windowserver plists from both the system and user preference (ByHost) folders, including the lockfiles.
Moved my new documents into their respective folders and rebooted... windows appeared where they were supposed to. (I should mention that I moved the screen and menu arrangement back to the 'wrong' way first, which showed me that the files had indeed altered the arrangement).
The question is - will this now hold?
Perhaps locking the file / changing the permissions to prevent the system updating it might help IF the problem reoccurs?

  • Once and for all: How to set up and use SSH

Yes, I know ssh has been discussed on and off, but never in its entirety; and yes, there are step by step instructions on the www, but at one point or another they skip a crucial instruction that would be necessary for unix-dummies (e.g. how to save and close the nano-editor in Terminal). So, please pardon my question:
There are several points I'd like to ask for ssh-connecting two macs on a local network:
    1) In terminal-file-"connect to server" you can ask for an ssh connection to be set up. For this to work, do I need to create private and public keys first? If so, how? Please point me to a reliable and step-by-step instruction site.
There are some free ssh-utilities out there, but their documentation is just not helpful enough for a UNIX-dummy.
    2) Apparently I managed to connect via ssh once (from the terminal, see point 1) to a local server (allowing remote connection set to ON at the server). But then, when I connected to that server from the client's finder and tried to get into my user account on that server it told me that no secure connection could be established. What's wrong here? Do I have to continue working from within the terminal to use this connection? That would be difficult for an average MacUser.
    3) What is the security advantage of an SSH connection on a local wireless network (Airport Base Station) over WPA2, if at all?
    4) And how to set up an ssh-connection over the internet cloud to safely build a remote control/desktop sharing connection, e.g., a friend's Mac when she has a problem?
    Thanks for your consideration.

First I'm not sure what your goals are.
    1) In terminal-file-"connect to server" you can ask for an ssh connection to be set up. For this to work, do I need to create private and public keys first?
If you have ssh keys, you can do this without passwords. If you have not exchanged keys with the remote system, you will be asked for the password of the user you are attempting to login as.
If so, how? Please point me to a reliable and step-by-step instruction site. There are some free ssh-utilities out there, but their documentation is just not helpful enough for a UNIX-dummy.
Log into the remote system. This could be via ssh.
On the remote system, run the following command to generate an ssh key for that remote system:
    ssh-keygen -t rsa
    Generating public/private rsa key pair.
Enter file in which to save the key (/Users/username/.ssh/id_rsa): <<take default>>
    Created directory '/Users/username/.ssh'.
Enter passphrase (empty for no passphrase): <<enter nothing>>
Enter same passphrase again: <<enter nothing again>>
Your identification has been saved in /Users/username/.ssh/id_rsa.
Your public key has been saved in /Users/username/.ssh/id_rsa.pub.
    The key fingerprint is:
    aa:bb:cc:dd:ee:ff:gg:hh:ii:jj:kk:ll:mm:nn:oo:pp [email protected]
This will generate an ssh key for the remote system. This could be any system that support ssh, such as a Unix system, or another Mac.
Copy the id_rsa.pub file from the remote system to your Mac. When I say "your Mac" I mean the one that you want to make the ssh connection from. The id_rsa.pub is found in the remote system's ~username/.ssh/ directory.
Append the copied id_rsa.pub to your Mac's ~himbear/.ssh/authorized_keys2 file
    cat id_rsa.pub >>~himbear/.ssh/authorized_keys2
Now when you ssh to that specific remote system, it will NOT ask for a password. The first time you ssh to any system, ssh will ask if the system is really the system you thing it is. But once you say "yes", it will not ask that question again.
Repeat for every remote system you wish to log into using an ssh key.
MacUser. A flash from the past, as in the MacUser magazine.
ssh is not used by default when you make connections. If you want an ssh connection, you have to establish it intentionally.
ssh can be used to pre-establish a tunnel (or tunnels) that other services can use. Once an ssh tunnel is establish, connections to local host's tunnel port will be connected to the specified remote port. For example:
    ssh -L 5901:localhost:5900 [email protected]
will establish a tunnel that VNC can use. The VNC client would connect to localhost display 1 or port 5901.
ssh allows multiple -L tunnels to be specified on the ssh command line.
    3) What is the security advantage of an SSH connection on a local wireless network (Airport Base Station) over WPA2, if at all?
Inside you home. Not much. Unless of course you do not trust the other members of your family. That is to say, others having your WPA2 password, and are thus on the inside, and can sniff you packets.
    4) And how to set up an ssh-connection over the internet cloud to safely build a remote control/desktop sharing connection, e.g., a friend's Mac when she has a problem?
If you are using the Mac OS X Leopard built-in *Screen Sharing* and you are connecting to another Mac's built-in Leopard System Preferences -> Sharing -> Remote Management (Tiger's Apple Remote Desktop), then in the *Screen Sharing* preferences, is an "Encrypt all network data" option.
If you wish to set this option in advance, you can launch *Screen Sharing* by double clicking on System -> Library -> CoreServices -> Screen Sharing.app
You can *Screen Sharing* connections over the net using iChat. This is one of the easiest ways to take control of their system. Of course they need to cooperate. I use a Free AOL Instant Messager (AIM) account for my iChat connections. And as a side benefit you can text, audio chat and/or video chat with the person at the other end.
If you are NOT using the build-in Mac OS X *Screen Sharing* and/or you are NOT using the build-in remote Mac OS X remote management server, then this is a situation where an ssh tunnel would be a very good idea.
However, setting up an ssh tunnel between 2 systems across the internet gets complex.
In this case you might want to consider using something like LogMeIn.com which will deal with all those nasty home routers without needing to to do nasty router configurations, and it will be a secure connection. LogMeIn.com will not be as fast as a *Screen Sharing* connection or a VNC connection, but it will be secure and easy to establish. Again, this is only if you can not to Mac to Mac *Screen Sharing* using built-in Mac OS X remote desktop.
Now if you want to roll your own ssh tunnels for VNC, then I'm just going to outline the things you need to do.
If the remote system is behind a home router, you need to configure that remote home router to "Port Forward" port 22 on the Internet side to port 22 on the target Mac. Bonus points if the internet side using a high number port to discourge net bots from knocking on your door. Use the ssh -p 12345 option to connect to the high numbered port that is forwarded to port 22 of the destination Mac.
On the remote Mac you need to run a VNC server. If this is a Mac, then Leopard System Preferences -> Sharing -> Remote Management (Tiger's Apple Remote Desktop). If it is not a Mac, then for Windows, TightVNC, UltraVNC, RealVNC are possible options. Linux has a built-in vncserver, or you can install x11vnc which has the advantage of displaying the desktop screen.
Once you can access the remote system, you use an ssh command like the following:
    ssh -p 12345 -L 5901:localhost:5900 remote.system.address
You can get the remote system's address by having the remote system surf over to http://whatismyip.com. Then they can tell you the IP address.
If you are going to be doing this a lot, you can get a free no-ip.com or dyndns.org dynamic DNS name for the remote system, and the remote system can run a dynamic DNS client (available from no-ip.com or dyndns.org) which will keep the dynamic DNS name updated as the remote person's ISP change's their IP address.
Finally, now that you have an ssh tunnel for VNC traffic, you have your VNC client connect to
    Address: localhost
    Port: 5901
Depending on your VNC client you may need to specify Display 1 instead of Port 5901. Or if you do not get a Display or Port option you specify localhost:5901

90% of the code you posted is not relevant to your question.
If you want further help post a Short, Self Contained, Compilable and Executable, Example Program (SSCCE) that demonstrates the problem.

  • How to set exceptions for automatic cookie-clearing on closure?

Firefox is forgetting my two-step google logins. On the google two-step verification page, there's a checkbox which says "Don't ask for codes again on this computer."
But firefox keeps asking for codes.
i have firefox set to clear cookies on closing.
i also have the urls below set as exceptions, in two places:
-in about:permissions, they are all set to allow, and also to keep offline data without asking
    -in options/privacy/exceptions
    mail.google.com
    maps.google.com
    calendar.google.com
    www.google.com
    shopping.google.com
    plus.google.com
    *.google.com
    google.com
    gmail.com
this forum is messing up my list, above. Each url is a separate item in exceptions. The bulleted one actually starts with a star. (good job mozilla, thanks for this ancient text editor)
how do clear all cookies EXCEPT the ones above, when i close firefox? Or, is this not a cookie problem?
do i need to include "http://"
    this article did not help
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/974020

    That worked. (no, it didn't)
It's very confusing that Firefox has settings for how to handle cookies on closing in three different places. They should change that.
"Keep until I close Firefox" seems redundant with "Clear History when Firefox closes" with "Cookies" checked. Then there are settings in "about:permissions". No way to know which one takes precedence. That's poor user-design.
For others having this problem, here's a clear explanation. However, this is only PART of the fix, hoping to find the complete fix later in this thread.
You CAN make FF keep only certain cookies on closing, and erase all others. Here's how to set all cookies to be cleared as soon as you close firefox, except your exceptions:
    # Go to Tools > Options > Privacy.
    # Under "History", pick "Firefox will Use custom settings for history"
    # Click "Exceptions", and add the cookies you want to keep. Click "Close"
    # Click "Keep until I close Firefox"
    # If you have "Clear History when Firefox closes" checked, then:
    * Click "Settings"
    * Uncheck "Cookies", and click "OK".
    6. Click "OK" to close the settings box.
(now this forum has a formatting toolbar, thx! why didn't have one before?)

  • How to set up text distribution list

I found out how to set up an email distribution list without buying an app but now I need to know how to do the same with sending texts, without buying an app and by associating a contact to it. I don't want to send a group text and only access that group by pulling up the text screen. All I want to do is assign a few numbers to a group name and use that group name to send a next message to the recipients. Any ideas?

Since a phone number field in Contacts does not have the ability to delineate between numbers, probably not. Theoretically, I suppose it could work if applied for recipients getting iMessages AND using email as the receive address, but hard to say. But for SMS texting, no.

  • Can someone tell me how to set my name so when I send a text it shows up instead of my phone number

Can someone tell me how to set my name so when I send a text it shows up instead of my phone number

You can't do that. Only the sending number is transmitted by the carrier with an SMS message. If the recipient has you in their address book, with most smart phones and some others, the name will display, but that's a function of the phone on the receiving end.

  • How to delete SMS text from the hard drive of a IPhone 3gs

How do I delete SMS text from the hard drive of a iPhone 3GS

If you want to delete the messages from within the text app, swipe over the name or number of the sender and hit delete.
If you are afraid that someone will be able to restore them by ckecking your HD, you will have to set up the phone "as new device" or choose "erase all content and Settings" in Settings/General/Reset. But this willerase the whole phone, not only your text messages.
