How to set the session using onClick event?

Dear All,
I have a link, which once the user click on it, I want to set the session.
<a href="link.jsp" > Link </a>How to set the session? Where should I put <%session1.setAttribute ("test", "1234"); %>?
Any idea?

Hai Gita,
i am not able to do the session invalidate method bcoz, i am mainatainting the session from login along with the current userid who is login into the system and putting some of the data in session....
thats session is to be valid upto when i click on logoff link
except that i have to remove the sessions in my application
while navigating from one jsp to another i have to remove the sessions, bit somes times that sessions may be used somewhere
Can u Understand My problem

Internationalization: How to set the session locale manually

Hello,
one more question from me.
So I have my Web Dynpro application and it gets the current language either from the user profile or the browser settings, which is fine. I can switch what String or image to display with a "getLocale()" call if neccessary, but can I also SET the locale? I want to be able to change the language for internationalization, f.ex. a German user should be able to view the page in English if he chooses to do so. Is there a way to accomplish this and if yes, how?

Hi,
you can set the Locale. means after getting the default you can overwrite this with the desire one.
But,your application is going to reside in the portal and in portal one Personalize link is present at the MasHead, in that User Profile link is present where user can reset few data regarding the user profile and Language is one of them.
So try to use that one,the scenario you are expalining for that no need to touch the code you can do directly from the personalize link coz this change is for time being.

How to set the scroller within an event to start from the beginning?

Hi folks,
Some of my events have huge number of pictures and I like to enter each event and start browsing through it from the beginning. I don't understand how iphoto chooses where to place the scrolling point. I played around with it and it seems like each time I enter an event, it's random. I would like to have some control over that. I hope that makes sense. Can I do that? Thanks in advance.

You can't. Skimming is just to give the user an idea of what's in the event. To browse the event in order double click on it to open it with all the photos displayed. You'll need to change the Events preferences to "Show event photos" when double clicked instead of just "Magnify photo".

How to get the session variable value in JSF

Hi
This is Subbus, I'm new for JSF framewrok, i was set the session scope for my LoginBean in faces-config.xml file..
<managed-bean-name>login</managed-bean-name>
<managed-bean-class>LoginBean</managed-bean-class>
<managed-bean-scope>session</managed-bean-scope> like that...
So all parameter in LoginBean are set in session right ?... for example i used userId is the Parameter...
Now i need to get the the userId parameter from that session in my another JSP page.. how i get that ?..
Already i tried
session.getAtrribute("userId");
session.getValue("userId");
but it retrieve only "null" value.. could u please help me.. it's very urgent one..

How to set the File Path to run a javascript using Plugin Code?

Hi All,
Im new to Indesign Plugin Development.Can any one help me out with my problem.
What i want to do is to run a javascript using Plugin Code.When i went through this forum i was able to find out that i should use the IscriptRunner Class to automate this.I could also figure out that the Member Function to use is "CanHandleFile" &"RunFile".
The first parameter in CanHandleFile & RunFile Member Function is to specify the path of the JavaScript File i suppose!I could also find out that IDFile has to used to set the file path Information.
But im clueless how to set the Javascript FilePath using IDFile.Can any one help me how to do this?Any Code Snippets Please?

All fields in InDesign can be entered in any measurement system. So, if you want to make an 8"x10" document and go to File>New Document and the window looks like this:
…you can type either 8 in or 8" into the Width field like this:
…and when you move to the next field, it will convert the eight inches into the equivalent number in the unit of measure that it is using at the moment, like this:
… (203.2 milimeters is the same as 8 inches). You can also enter a different measurement unit into other fields once the file is created, such as the width or height of a frame, or the position of an object in the X and Y coordinates.
If you would rather just work in inches instead of having to type the inches mark or abbreviation, go to InDesign>Preferences>General and select the Units & Increments tab. There you will see Ruler Units for Horizontal and Vertical at the top of the window. Set them to Inches and all of the fields will display in inches. If you do that to an open document, you will change the unit of measure for that document. If you do it while no documents are open, it will change the unit of measure for any new documents you create. To change the unit of measure for existing documents, you will have to open each and make the change.

How to set the sampling interval using DAQ device?

Now I have a capacity sensor and a 24 bit DAQ device (http://www.mccdaq.com/usb-data-acquisition/USB-2404-10.aspx).
The DAQ device has the maximum sampling rate of 50kS/s . My question is how to set the interval of data collection. For example, if I set the sampling rate to 2000, in continuous sampling mode, I use DAQmx read.vi in a while loop and set the 'number of samples per channel' to 100. I want to plot these data as a function of time by using a XY graph and also save these data. So I add a 'Mean' function to get the average of the 100 samples per each loop (than means, there are 20 data output per second). But when I set the 'number of samples per channel' much smaller (to get more data per second), there are some problems. It seems that the program cannot read so many data and get the average at a higher frequency. I don't know where the problem is. All in all, how to collect data more frequently?Maybe I didn't express my question clearly. I'll upload a simple program later if necessary. Thanks.

Another question is in continuous mode, NI DAQmx uses Samples per channel to determine the buffer size. But according to the website you specified, it says if the acquisition is continuous (sample mode on the DAQmx Timing.vi is set to Continuous Samples), NI-DAQmx will allocate a buffer according to the following table. And for sample rate between 100 - 10,000 S/s, the buffer size is 10 kS. So if I set the sample rate to be 5000 S/s, and set the Samples per channel to be 20000, then what exactly the buffer size is? 20 kS or 10 kS?

In CS5 there are changes made to how the screen mode is reported. In CS3-CS5 the screen mode has a corresponding number. So for instance if the ScreenMode is set to "Preview Off" and you ask indesign CS3 or CS4 to display the screen mode, it will report "1936552047", while in CS5 it will report "PREVIEW_OFF".
try executing this simple command in respectively CS3, CS4 and CS5 and you will see what I am talking about:
alert(app.activeWindow.screenMode);
there is no difference if you do:
alert(app.activeDocument.layoutWindows[0].screenMode);
The CS5 solution is rather awkward to work with, unless I am missing something? PREVIEW_OFF is not a string, nor is it a number.
Example - doing:
myScreenMode=app.activeDocument.layoutWindows[0].screenMode;
and then trying to reset screenMode by something like:
app.activeDocument.layoutWindows[0].screenMode= myScreenMode
does not work in CS5 of course. It will throw an error. Neither will this line work:
app.activeDocument.layoutWindows[0].screenMode=ScreenModeOptions.myScreenMode;
Any way of working around this?

How to set the number of seconds a servlet is allowed to run

I use JSP to generate a report, but it will take about 10 minutes to search.
IE Client screen displays an error message what is "Cannot find out your page" after 8 minutes. How to set the number of seconds a servlet is allowed to run.

It's not a matter of how long the servlet is running... it's the browser timing out because the servlet hasn't responded to its request.
You have several options:
1) "Browser Pinging"
Your servlet sends some small data which can be either seen or unseen (html comments, hidden chars, etc) by the user at short intervals while your report is running. When the report is finished, the browser will not have timed out because it has been "snacking" on those small bits of data which tell the browser its original request was both heard and being handled. I don't think there is any timeout in IE as long as it receives data continually (or at least before its own timeout mark over and over again...)
2) Multithreaded processing
This would probably be a better approach. Have the report run in a separate thread running on the server. You'd want to store a reference to this executing report in the user's session. Instead of making the browser wait for the report to be finished, have the servlet check the user's session to see if a report exists and is running. If one does not exist, create one and start its execution. If one does exist, and is still running, print a "please wait" type of message OR an animation, etc... along with some javascript which will reload the page every few seconds. If the page reloads and the servlet sees that the report is finished, it can then display it to the user.
