How to set up a cook book

Hi,
working on a cookbook and just downloaded a trial of InDesign.
Am not completely lost because I'm pretty familiar with Photoshop and Acrobat.
So I want the final book to be 8"x8" a single first page and then double sided with an image on one side and two columns on the other side.
Bleed is 1/8" I believe.
Publisher right now is lightningsource but I'm a few months away from actually publishing and haven't yet paid any money.
So what is my first question?
What do I enter on the first set up page?
New document or book and after that?
I've looked at some tutorials but none really explained this very first step, and I'd like to get off on the right or left foot ;-)
Thanks,
Michael

Thanks for the tip and I'll remember it.
My two main questions are that if the intended size of the book is 8"x8" and I enter in letter size, when starting a project, how will the sizing work?
I expected to see book sizes, and to see how everything would look in an 8"x8" book.
I believe it's best to open document and not book.
Michael

  • How to set and read cookies in adobe edge animate

    Hi all,
I need help in writing and reading cookies using adobe edge, is there is a way to do it I serached the internet but I did not find something simlliar?
    thanks in advance

To test with this plugin in a simple HTML page, you'll need to also include jQuery itself.
    For example:
    <script src="/path/to/jquery.js"></script>
    <script src="/path/to/jquery.cookie.js"></script>
    </head>
There are a few different ways that you could load the jQuery.cookie plugin into your composition. Regardless of the method, I recommend loading it at the compositionReady trigger. This is the trigger that fires after the composition is ready to play.
This blog post shows one way to load in external .js files:
    http://chrisgannon.wordpress.com/2012/09/01/loading-external-javascript-in-adobe-edge-anim ate-the-easy-way/
Here's how you would be applying this method for the jQuery.cookie plugin:
Then enter in code similar to this:
    yepnope(
        nope:[
          '/path/to/jquery.cookie.js'
      complete: init
    function init() {
//create your cookie's initial values here
That would load in the jQuery.cookie plugin.
It would then be up to you to create/manipulate the cookie's data as needed for your purpose. Most likely, you would scroll to a point in the timeline where you want data to be changed and/or read, add a trigger, then insert the necessary code.

Being new to working with a Mac, I was wondering if anyone can tell me step, by step on how to set up my Mac Book Pro(Mid 2012) wirelessly to a Canon Pixma Pro9000 Mark ll that my husband had gotten me? Sales person told him that it's compatiable to my Mac Book Pro, Mtn Lion, but I do not see it and I don't see how to do it wirelessly. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks ;o)

    Hello:
There is nothing wrong with asking questions.  There  are no dumb questions....answers, yes, but not questions.
If you set up your wi-fi router to establish a network, then both your printer and MacBook Pro will connect wirelessly.  *** I do not know what kind of router you possess, I don't want to suggest things that might not be relevant.

How can I connect my Mac Book Pro (year 2008) to the TV set through  HDMI? I've seen a DVI to HDMI iwire but I'm no sure that it is correct. Could anyone help me? Thank you very much.

I do not know the iWire adapter, but I use an inexpensive ($3) DVI to HDMI adapter from Monoprice, along with a regular HDMI cable:
    http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10419&cs_id=1041902 &p_id=2029&seq=1&format=2
Be aware that this will only transfer video. You Macbook Pro cannot combine audio through DVI to HDMI. You will need to listen to the audio through the Mac speakers, or attach speakers or a sound system to the Mac earphone jack, or determine if your TV has the ability to accept external sound from the Mac while showing video through HDMI (few can).

  • How to set exceptions for automatic cookie-clearing on closure?

Firefox is forgetting my two-step google logins. On the google two-step verification page, there's a checkbox which says "Don't ask for codes again on this computer."
But firefox keeps asking for codes.
i have firefox set to clear cookies on closing.
i also have the urls below set as exceptions, in two places:
-in about:permissions, they are all set to allow, and also to keep offline data without asking
    -in options/privacy/exceptions
    mail.google.com
    maps.google.com
    calendar.google.com
    www.google.com
    shopping.google.com
    plus.google.com
    *.google.com
    google.com
    gmail.com
this forum is messing up my list, above. Each url is a separate item in exceptions. The bulleted one actually starts with a star. (good job mozilla, thanks for this ancient text editor)
how do clear all cookies EXCEPT the ones above, when i close firefox? Or, is this not a cookie problem?
do i need to include "http://"
    this article did not help
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/974020

    That worked. (no, it didn't)
It's very confusing that Firefox has settings for how to handle cookies on closing in three different places. They should change that.
"Keep until I close Firefox" seems redundant with "Clear History when Firefox closes" with "Cookies" checked. Then there are settings in "about:permissions". No way to know which one takes precedence. That's poor user-design.
For others having this problem, here's a clear explanation. However, this is only PART of the fix, hoping to find the complete fix later in this thread.
You CAN make FF keep only certain cookies on closing, and erase all others. Here's how to set all cookies to be cleared as soon as you close firefox, except your exceptions:
    # Go to Tools > Options > Privacy.
    # Under "History", pick "Firefox will Use custom settings for history"
    # Click "Exceptions", and add the cookies you want to keep. Click "Close"
    # Click "Keep until I close Firefox"
    # If you have "Clear History when Firefox closes" checked, then:
    * Click "Settings"
    * Uncheck "Cookies", and click "OK".
    6. Click "OK" to close the settings box.
(now this forum has a formatting toolbar, thx! why didn't have one before?)

How do set up your hotmail account on a mac book pro properly? I have it set up so I get mail but on my hotmail account I have lot of separate folders to save messages in(for example :- bank, skyp, work, Facebook, apple, ect...). They don't show up on my mac. I also have an iPhone and iPad, there is no issue here when I set those up. I automatically got my separate folders. Anybody have any idea or encountered the same problem?

    Cheers,
I'm not gonna lie, I actually have no idea if its pop or imap. Do you know where you can check and if it can be changed?
Hotmail on a Mac is POP3 only, you will only get the basic folders (inbox, sent, trash etc) and it will not sync with other devices.
And now I post this I see other replies, so this is redundant. !!

    Hi,
"cookie" is a reserved name. If you want to write to a session scope attribute called "cookie" then you have to call #{sessionScope.cookie}. If you want to use EL to set and read from cookies then you will have to use
    #{cookie.cookieName}
Note that #{cookie} writes to and returns a map

So how can I go in and change the setting, It stays ofcourse at the apple screen with wheel. All info is there and the computer works fine, just cannot use it or have been able to log in.

How to set a cookie in the browser from an html page called via an Iview

    Hi,
    Check this:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/portal/html/same_cookie_domain_with_pdkv2.html
    Cookie Basics
Web browsers have built in rules for receiving and sending cookies. When a browser makes a request to a web server and the web server returns cookies with the response, the browser will only accept a cookie if the domain associated with the cookie matches that of the original request. Similarly, when a browser makes a subsequent request, it will only send those cookies whose domain matches that of the target web server.
These rules are designed to ensure that information encoded in cookies is only "seen" by the web server(s) that the originator of the cookie intended. These rules also ensure that the cookie cannot be corrupted or imitated by another server. By default, the domain associated with a cookie exactly matches that of the server that created it. However, it is possible to modify the domain at the time the cookie is created. Relaxing the cookie domain increases the scope of the cookie's visibility making it available to a wider "audience" of web servers.
For example, if a cookie is created by a.us.oracle.com, it's domain will usually be set to a.us.oracle.com. This means that the browser will only send the cookie to a.us.oracle.com. It will never send it to any other servers. However, if at the time of creation, the domain of the cookie is set to .us.oracle.com, the browser will send the cookie to any server whose domain falls within .us.oracle.com. such as portal.us.oracle.com, provider.us.oracle.com, app.us.oracle.com etc
