How to set up a VLAN for a School Network for student ipads/ipods?

I work at a small private school that is going to implement about 20 ipads for classes. Students bring their ipods and iphones and are connecting to the existing unsecured wireless access points and are taking up the remaining IP addresses in the DHCP scope. I am running out of IP addresses and was wondering if I could set up a VLAN using the Cisco WRVS4400N for all of these wireless devices the students will be using. I plan to pull out all unsecured wireless AP's and replace with what ever solution we come up with. I will need about 6 access points/routers to cover the entire school. There is not a lot of money for technology and the ipods were donated. I have never set up a VLAN before. Is there an inexpensive way to allow the students with their personal ipads/ipods and the 20 ipads owned by the school to connect to a VLAN to keep from using up our DHCP IP addresses from the server. yes u can create the operation mode by using tcode rz04. the steps are:-
1) run the tcode :- rz04
2: select the operation mode then click on create instance (create ur instanace for eg :- day mode and night mode)
3)click on operation mode select the timetable then select normal operation(24 hr)->assign the modes (means select the time by double click and then right click on that select assign and give the mode eg:- day mode ) same way give another modes.Incase if there is any problem then please let me know.

What I'm looking to do is to have self powered in ceiling speakers in every room in my house with out having to run wires to every room to carry the audio signal. I would like to use the airport express to do the job of carting the audio signal.
Here's my set up now I have an airport extreme and one airport express that I use to carry audio to one room.

FWIW. I have used up to four AirPort Express Base Stations (AX) for streaming sucessfully in pretty much the way you have described. I didn't have a need to try more so I can't attest that more would or would not work.

RV110W - trying to set up 2 VLANS - are there docs / help for this?

I am trying to set up an RV110W router with 2 VLANs - 1 for guests to the office to just have internet access via wireless and another for employees to be able to access the LAN and internet wirelessly. I have not done anything with VLANs before, so please bear with me.
I thought this would be simple, but banging my head against the wall with all the terms in the docs:

port 1 is connected to a wired LAN / unmanaged switch with office PCs. So these machines / nothing on this subnet tag the packets before they get to the router. This subnet is using 10.10.1.0/24
Port 2 is connected to an Engenius EAP 300, a wireless access point that can broadcast SSIDs and tie each SSID to a different VLAN.
SSID1 is called Private and is set to be VLAN 1. There's encryption on this SSID - only office staff would be able to log on.
SSID2 is called public and is set to be VLAN 10. There's no encryption on this SSID.
I know - the router also does this, but where the router is vs. where the wireless is needed, we need to have the Engenius at that remote location.
I have the RV110W set to give out 10.10.1.0/24 IPs when you connect to the SSID1 / VLAN1
And it gives out 10.10.10.0/24 IPs when you connect to the public SSID / VLAN10.
Both get on the internet fine. The only issue is how to set the VLAN membership for each port / and any other settings so that the wireless devices on VLAN 1 can get to the LAN devices on Port 1. (and the public / vlan 10 devices on the wireless network to NOT get to the devices on port 1, but i think that's working.
I played with tagged / untagged / excluded, for the port membership, but either the wireless VLAN 1 devices get blocked from even the web (when port 2 is set to untagged, since they ARE tagged VLAN1) or they can't get to port 1 when set to tagged, since the port 1 devices are all untagged and the reply packets get blocked?
the doc for this unit talks about inter-vlan routing but doesn't explain what that is. THe wireless isolation should be turned on for vlan 10, right? We don't want guests to be able to access other guest's machines?
I saw on page 71 on how to set up the guest network, but that's using the wireless built into the box, not a wireless access point.
Overall, what I want is:
VLAN 1: port 2 (with tagged VLAN1 packets) and port 1 (with untagged packets) can pass data between each other and access the internet
VLAN10: port 2 with tagged VLAN10 packets can only get to the internet.
Is that doable?

connecting to the vlan1 wireless SSID on port 2, I can't even get an IP address from the router (the dhcp request can't even come through port 2 because it's saying vlan1 packets have to be untagged?
connecting to the vlan 10 wireless SSID on port 2 gets a DHCP address and can only get to the web, so that's good.
If I change the membership to:

vlan10 excluded tagged
connecting to both SSIDs on port 2 will get you a dhcp address, and vlan1 devices can get into port 1, but trying to admin the wireless access device on port 2 or even pinging it, now fails - 'cause the router gatekeeper says if you want to come through port 2, your packets have to be tagged? and the packets from port 1 to port 2 are untagged?

connecting to both SSIDs on port 2 will get you a dhcp address, but replies from the wired PC on port 1 / vlan1 vlan1 can't get back out of port 1 'cause the router gatekeeper says if you want to leave through port 1, your packets have to be tagged? and the ping reply is coming form a device with untagged packets? although the devices on vlan1 / port 1 CAN get on the web with their untagged packets.

when they say port 2 / vlan 1 tagged, is it saying packets coming in FROM devices on that port have to be tagged? Or packets going TO devices on that port have to be tagged? or both directions?

How To Set Up Airport Express To Use With iPad2 For My Needs ?

On the advice of several people in a audio forum, I just purchase an Apple Airport Express. I will be using it with my new iPad 2. What I need to accomplish is using my iPad2 to stream subscription based music from the internet to the Airport Express, and for the Airport Express to connect via toslink cable to the DAC in my audio system.
What I am not sure about is how to set up my Airport Express to accomplish this. I do have a wireless network in my home, but wish to keep the wireless connectivity between the Airport Express and the iPad2 separate from it.
I would greatly appreciate any assistance with this. Thanks.

Deggie, firstly, thank you for your attempt to help. I greatly appreciate it. I connected it via the ethernet cable to the router since when I reconfigured the Airport Express adding it to my existing wireless system, the iPad could not connect to anything until I unplugged the Airport Express. I set it up for an ethernet connection to my router based on that experience.
Either the Ipad does not seem able to send anything to the Airport Express, or the AEX is not passing anything on. I also tried streaming a song stored on the iPad 2 to the AEX with no result, so it is not an issue with the subscription channel.
I don't own a miniplug cable of any sort for further testing, but the toslink cable is brand new, and was literally taken out of its package and plugged in, so I feel it extremely unlikely it is the issue. I've also tested it in three inputs on the DAC, so it is definitely not an issue with it.
I have a question though. You said "when you start your subscription and go to Airplay, does the iPad see the AEX?" You may be on to something there. How do I "go to Airplay" I thought it was just automatic? Also, how do I "select it"? This may be the problem.

I have the 1 TB Time Capsule and I set it up as "creating a wireless network". It is connected via Ethernet to my linksys router. How do I set it up so that I have two wi-fi networks running? Options are a) join a wireless network b) connect to a network using Ethernet to extend the network or create a second network.

When you say faster speed, are you taking about using the 802.11n 5GHz protocols?
If that is the case, then you arrange for the TimeCapsule to join the existing network, and configure it to "Bridge" the ethernet to WiFi.
My assumption is that the other WiFi is 802.11g, so leave that one alone.
Back on the TimeCapsule, you configure it so it using 5GHz frequences ONLY.
You configure TC so it has its own SSID (network name).
Now Macs (or other systems) that are 802.11n WiFi capable can connect to the TC network name (SSID), and your older 802.11g devices can use the other WiFi base station.
If the TimeCapsule is a dual radio system, then you can configure the 2.4GHz radio so that it uses the same SSID and password as your existing WiFi base station, only have it use a different channel (you do not what the original and the TC 802.11g radio fighting over the same channel. Channels 1, 6, and 11 are best, but if you have conflicts with neighbors, try for something that doesn't conflict and is 5 or more channels away from your other 802.11g base station.

First you both have to have your own user accounts on the MBA and separate iCloud accounts. From there it's relatively simple to create you own libraries and have your respective iPhones link to those library when both devices are logged into the same iCloud account.

All antennas are off in airplane mode, so you can't use wi-fi. Try it with cellular data off and while you're on a wi-fi network.

How to set a default start and/or end date for New Events based on trigger date.

I'm using the CalendarActivityListener to get current row when clicking on an existing event. As per previous posts this listener gives you access to event detail including Start Date, End Date, etc.
However, what I want to do is to default the start (and end) dates for New Events based on the trigger date.
I've tried the CalendarListener and can grab the Trigger Date from it - however, I can't see a way to pass this directly to the popup/dialog I'm using to create the new event.
At present I'm putting the TriggerDate into the ADFContext session scope e.g. ADFContext.getCurrent().getSessionScope().put("TriggerDate",calendarEvent.getTriggerDate());
Then, I've tried multiple approaches to try and "get" the TriggerDate from session scope to drop it into my new Calendar Event basically, I'm trying to default the InputField(s) associated with the Start Date using the value from the session - I've tried
1. setting the default value for the InputField in the jspx using a binding expression i.e. value="#{sessionScope.TriggerDate}" - this actually sets the value appropriately when the jspx is rendered but, when I go to create I get a NPE and I can't debug. I assumed that it might be a Date type issue - it would appear that CalendarListener provides a date of type java.util.Date and that the StartDate attribute of my VO/EO/table is a DATE and therefore requires oracle.jbo.domain.Date so I tried casting it - to no effect
2. Using a Groovy expression *(StartDate==null?adf.context.sessionScope.TriggerDate:StartDate)* in my calendar's EventVO to default the Start Date to the same result

Thanks for that suggestion - could not get it to work. However, I did manage a different approach. I finally determined the sequence of events in terms of how the various events and listeners fire (I think).
Basically, the CalendarActivityListener fires, followed by the listener associated with the Calendar object's Create facet, followed finally by the CalendarEventListener - the final is where the TriggerEvent is available and then finally, control is passed to the popup/dialog in the Create facet. So, my approach of trying to set/get the TriggerDate in the user's HTTP session was doomed to failure because it was being get before it had been set :(
Anyway, I ended up adding a bit of code to the CalendarEvent listener - it grabs the current BindingContext, navigates through the DCBindingContainer to derive an Iterator for the ViewObject which drives the calendar and then grabs the currently active row. I then do a few tests to make sure we're working with a "new" row because I don't want to alter start & end dates associated with an existing calendar entry and then I define the Start and End dates to be the Trigger Date.
Works just fine. Snippet from the listener follows

I am reading a file from a servlet. I wanted to see where Tomcat would write the file if I didn't specify a path. The results surprised me. It wrote the file in: "C:\Documents and Settings\myusername\Start Menu\Programs\Apache Tomcat 4.1". So I looked through server.xml to see if perhaps this path was set there but didn't find anything. I right clicked on the "Start Tomcat" target to see its properties and there it was. There was a field "Start in:" and it contained the aforementioned path. I changed it to what I wanted but there has to be a way to set this in server.xml. How do I do this. my guess would be something like :
"<Context path="" docBase="c:/theDefaultDirectory" debug="0"/>", but this didn't work. Any light on this subject would GREATLY be appreciatted,

Well, actually, it opens file where the process is currently located on your fileSystem. since you seems to be using windows, the process is started in the directory written in the "Starts In" field. Now you could use the command line (the ugly MSDOS like window), go to some directory and starts the tomcat process from there, and the files would be created in that place.
The docBase tells where tomcat should look when looking for pages (html jsp, etc...). If you want to use it, you can still refers to it as :
new File (yourServlet.getServletConfig().getContextPath("/myfile.txt"))Another track to check would be to look in the System.getProperties. There has to be some property that gives the current JVM path, try to change it to the location you'd like it to be and see if it conforms to how you'd like to see it works.
Still, remember that you can have multiple Context in your servlet container, so there's no reason for tomcat to set the JVM default path to the docBase from one or another (File is a global JVM utility, not a J2EE only feature !!).

How to set value of "Entity" in entityMap at runtime for attachmentTable

I am using attachmentTable item on my OA page. As per the standard functionality, attachmentTable should have entityMap defined for it and its property "Entity" should be given some value to define primary key relationships.
Now, Is there any way by which I can assign value of this "Entity" property at runtime thru my code? or can I change the value of it at runtime? All I want to achieve is generate a unique Entity key depending on the person accessing that attachment page.
Please provide some inputs.

Actually, I am declaring the entityid in entityMap first and then assigning some other value to it by "setEntityId" property of attachmentbean in my controller code. but the attachments are still stored with initial entityid only.
I am thinking of creating the entityid something like this :
String myEntityid = "WF"+EmpId+PersonId;
Can you please point me how I can achieve this? and is the property "setEntityId" correct for this purpose or is there any other property to be set?

As far as having the Move Tool selected at startup, your right about older versions of photoshop being able to do that, i think photoshoshop cs and older, but not in more recent versions.
Anyway, there are several of ways to do it and here's one:
