How to set-up an Xbox Midi Drumkit to Logic?
I have searched many forums and videos on this topic and have found nothing that helps me get the basics down, im not an expert at all this new digital recording.
I have an Xbox MIDI Drumkit (Rockband) -> Digidesign 003 Rack -> Mac Book Pro -> Logic Studio 8
Can Anyone help me join the dots?

Does the XBox drumkit come with MIDI drivers for the Macintosh computer?
Install those if they are available.
Also, look at your Audio Midi Setup application.

How do I use my external MIDI keyboard with Logic 7 and create MIDI data?
I have a Yamaha UX16 cord that goes from the MIDI IN & OUT of my keyboard to a USB jack to plug in my Mac. But I don't know how to set it up so I can record myself playing the keyboard via MIDI and then later switch the sound or instrument in the track.
Hi,
You need to set up your keyboard inside a utility ap. called Audio Midi Setup.
You find it here:
Applications / Utilities / Audio Midi Setup.app
Inside this application you should see your Yamaha UX16 as an interface with ports along the bottom of it. Create a new device and name it whatever your keyboard is named, and cable it to and from the Yamaha UX16.
If you do not see the Yamaha UX16, you need to install it's drivers. Consult your manual / the Yamaha website for details on this.
Once this is accomplished, you will then see the keyboard inside Logic, as a Midi input.
Dont' forget to read this document, to enlighten you as to how Logic works, as it is very different that Garageband:

How can I import sibelius 4 midi files to logic
I would like to be able to import either wav or midi files because I have tons of scores already notated, and why input the notes again? All help appreciated, I'm new to Logic...
ScottHi,
Here's how:
1. Make sure the MIDI files are Standard Midi files (.SMF or .MID)
2. Any WAV or other audio files, make sure they all get rendered at the same start point, so that you can import them and line them up in Logic correctly, and quickly.
3. Make sure the tempo in Logic, when you Start the sessions, and BEFORE importing anything, is set to match Sibelius.

How to set up my macbook mid 2009 osx leopard to mountain lion?
I was just given a MacBook mid 2009 Serial# MC240LL/A and it was master reset so its on Mac OS X version 10.5.8 and i need to get it to the latest software possible, but there is no app store and itunes doesnt work please HELP!
To get to Mountain Lion you are going to have to first get Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6.8) which has the App store. You can purchase this on disk from Apple but you have to call them directly. 800-MY-APPLE in the USA.
Be sure you meet the hardware requirements for Mountain Lion before you do this. Note that 2GB of RAM is a bare minimum and 4 would be much better. According to some sources your MacBook will support up to 6GB, though Apple says 4 is the limit. -

Hi
To run RMX multi timbrally in stereo mode:
Go to RMX in the environment. Change the MIDI channel of RMX to "all".
Create a multi instrument (using the new menu). It's a good idea to rename the mulit to RMX Multi. Cable multi instrument icon to the RMX channel using arrow tool. (Chose "remove" if a dialogue box promots you to "Remove channels port setting?").
Beginning on channel 8 move backwards and click 8 thru 1on the multi instrument using the Midi tool.
Go back to the arrange window. You should see a track called "RMX Multi 1" (if you renamed the Multi in environment "RMX Multi").
Create a new track for the remaining of the 8 Midi channels (if your Multi requires 8 channels). Also .. create an instrument tracks and assign it to RMX - that is your master RMX track where RMX is instansiated.
You now have a master track where RMX is instansiated and one track for each of your 8 channels within RMX.
You can play/place MIDI data in to each of the MIDI tracks - or drag and drop from RMX into any of these sub channels. You can also use automation on these. For any DSP use the master track.
To run RMX as a multi:
Essentially it's the same thing. Except in the mixer section of RMX assign track 2 to output B, track 3 to output C, etc ....
Go to the environment and create a stereo aux track for each MIDI channel you need in your multi. In the input section of the aux strip assign as follows: for B, 3/4, for C 5/6, etc ... (A is 1/2 and is where you have your instance of RMX).
The only advantage of multi mode is if you need discreet DSP on individual tracks.
In Stereo multi timbral mode you can freeze tracks.
Hope this helps.
Let me know.
Cheers

Don't know how to set current limit for servomotors in MID
My application is to control a servo motor. Im using PXI-7350, driving a motor (Pittman GM8712F434) with MID-7654. The motor is connected to mechanic parts and mechanic parts are connected to a potentiometer as a feedback. Now, according to the spec of the motor, it said reference voltage 19.1V, inductance 5.4 mH, peak current 1.76 A. So, I set dip switch of MID to 0.85 A for continuous current, 1.70 A for peak current and standard inductance. The motor didnt move and fault LED lighted. Then I set both continuous and peak current to around 1.7A. The motor still didnt move and fault LED still lighted. I kept increasing the current until the current hit 3A. It started moving slowly but fault LED still lighted. Final
ly I set the peak current to 3.5A, the motor ran normally. Come to the questions.
1. Is the peak current in the spec same as peak current limit in MID? How to determine peak current limit? Because Im afraid that my little motor is going to burn out.
2. How to set the continuous current; is it suppose to be half of peak current?
3. If +10/-10V command voltage(torque limit) gets map to peak current (let say 1.7 A), will +5/-5V be mapped to 0.85? And what happen after 2.7 sec if I set continuous current to 0.85A? Will +5/-5V be mapped to half of 0.85?
4. How does 2.7 sec thing works? When I set peak and continuous current to 3.5A and 1.7A, after 2.7 sec motor should run slower or even stop (in my case), but it went nut like it ran at maximum current.
I set Kp 20 and others zero, everything else is same as default. Thank you, I appreciate your answer.infoiupui,
There are several DIP switches on the front of the MID 7654 that can be toggled to vary the continuous and peak current values for the MID. There is a small panel that can be removed from the lower left corner of the MID. You can look in the manual for the 7654, linked below, to determine the particular settings that you should use to achieve given continuous and peak current values.
MID-7654/7652 Servo Power Motor Drive User Guide

Take a look at pages 10 through 13 of this document for information on how to modify those DIP switches to achieve current values that will work with the motor that you are using.
I am not clear on w
hat you are referring to when you referred to 2.7 seconds. Could you clarify that for me?
I hope that helps! Let me know if you have any additional questions on this issue.

How to set up midi network on snow leopard
I was wondering why all tutorials i watch about setting up a core midi conection for touch osc cant seem to make it work was wondering if anyone could help?
What interface do you have?
Have installed the correct drivers?
Just what is the problem?
Have you tried AudioMidi Setup to see if things show up there? -
Being new to working with a Mac, I was wondering if anyone can tell me step, by step on how to set up my Mac Book Pro(Mid 2012) wirelessly to a Canon Pixma Pro9000 Mark ll that my husband had gotten me? Sales person told him that it's compatiable to my Mac Book Pro, Mtn Lion, but I do not see it and I don't see how to do it wirelessly. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks ;o)
Hello:
There is nothing wrong with asking questions. There are no dumb questions....answers, yes, but not questions.
If you set up your wi-fi router to establish a network, then both your printer and MacBook Pro will connect wirelessly. *** I do not know what kind of router you possess, I don't want to suggest things that might not be relevant.

How to set up the Time Capsule as an access point
Hi there,
I have home office and am having wifi-connectivity issues due to the layout of my home.
I'm getting the electrician to set up ethernet outlets in various rooms in my house so that I can get wired connections in several rooms. What I want to do is connect my Time Capsule to one of those ethernet ports (see the diagram below) so that I can still broadcast a wi-fi signal in my house while having wired connections elsewhere.

In my research in how to set this up, I've come across documentation that shows how to convert an old Netgear/Linksys wifi router to an access point. Here's an example of the documentation I've run across: http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/wireless/wireless-basics/30338-how-to-convert-a-w ireless-router-into-an-access-point. What I haven't encountered is how to do this with a Time Capsule.
Here are my questions:
Do I just follow these instructions and substitute "Time Capsule" where the author references "AP"?
I currently have my network set up through the Time Capsule. Here are some of the things that I currently have set up and corresponding questions:
all computers can access the printer via wifi - under the above setup, will all computers (connected to the new network via wired OR wireless access) still have access to the printer?
I have my macbook set up as a media center for my xbox and PS3. The Xbox and PS3 connect to my macbook and access the movie files that I have saved on my Time Capsule and a 2nd HDD that is connected to the Time Capsule via USB - under the above setup, will I still be able to access those movies with my PS3 and Xbox via the macbook media center software?
Thanks a ton for any help or advice. It's much appreciated.Excellent.. great to see people doing the job properly and wiring ethernet.
Here are my questions:
Do I just follow these instructions and substitute "Time Capsule" where the author references "AP"?
Apple system is slightly different.. although the AP method would work the TC has a programmed state for placing it in AP mode.
And Apple even documented it.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4260
The difference in your system, is you are not using an Apple primary router (I presume) but otherwise the same.
Any router setup as WAP, you bridge the router part.. and you use Same wireless name.. same security setting (WPA2 Personal is WPA2 AES and the only one suitable). Same passkey..
I would add one difference to the apple insstructions.. they depend on auto wireless channels working. IMHO, auto anything in wireless is akin to voodoo black arts and has more to do with beads and rattles than science. It works fine in some case.. terrible in others.. lock it down. Set the wireless yourself.. at 2.4ghz there are only 3 non overlapping channels.. 1, 6, 11 .. if you use 300mbit N on the main router, it will use 2 of those channels.. choose the third for the TC.
Of course the TC can also use 5ghz.. and I lock it down as well but that is more my control freak nature.. and strong skeptism of anything auto in the wireless world.
Your number auto changed.. fun isn't it when i edit it shows correctly but when I post it changes the format.
On the new setup the printer will still be available to all clients .. whether wireless or wired.
And to second part, yes, all file access is not going to change.. well I don't predict any.. IP of the system might change around but overall you are creating a single flat network. And that will work fine. -
Does OS Lion 10.7.5 support Airplay mirror of Apple TV 3? I can't find the option in Setting>Display on my mid 2012 MacBook Pro.
I've rebooted all 3 devices, still does not work. Both Apple TV and MBP are on the same wifi. And the Apple TV AirPlay option is on. Can someone help? Thank you.About AirPlay and Airplay Mirroring
AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). For non-qualifying Macs you can try using Air Parrot.

Thanks to the $15 Beamer, AirPlay streaming is still possible on Macs that do not support Airplay and mirroring.

Need instructions on how to use my new xbox with my X-Fi Titanium
Heyho,
I'm about to get my new Xbox 360 today/tomorrow and as I have a 5. soundsystem running with my pc I want the 360 5. sound to be on this system as well. Thus I'd like to connect my xbox via toslink with my x-fi titanium and then put it out over my speakers.
As I'm not that familiar with the dolby digital stuff I need some help on how to set this all up properly.
Any help is welcome
Edit: My OS is win7Take the cord and plug it into the computer. Now plug your phone in(make sure iTunes is installed on computer: www.apple.com/iTunes) you can now sync the photos music and every thing else.
after doing that you can do this:
To sync with the computer, make sure you are signed in on both iPhone and computer with the same account. You can go to Settings then iCoud and switch automatic syncing of photos, songs, etc. this will put it all back on. It will save everything "on the cloud" -
How to set the ports on wrt150n for my xbox360
help me!!!!!!! I need evry step
I just contacted Linksys/Cisco about this problem of the WRT150N not connecting properly with the Xbox 360 Live.
The support person online said this model does suport it.
I do not know if this person was right or not but here was the advice they gave online:
1. Assign static IP, subnet mask, gateway and DNS on the Xbox 360.
a) Go to the System area of the Xbox Dashboard.
b) Select Network Settings.
c) Select Edit Settings to adjust your:
IP Settings (IP Address = 192.168.1.20, Subnet Mask = 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway = 192.168.1.1)
DNS Settings (Primary = 4.2.2.1, Secondary = 4.2.2.2)
2. Port forwarding
88 (udp)
3074 (tcp & udp)
a) Access the router's web-based setup page and click on Applications and Gaming tab.
b) Under Port Range Forwarding sub tab, we will enter two entries for us to forward the two ports.
First Entry
Name = Xbox360a
Start = 88
End = 88
Protocol = UDP
IP Address = 192.168.1.20
Enabled = Checked
Second Entry
Name = Xbox360b
Start = 3074
End = 3074
Protocol = Both
IP Address = 192.168.1.20
Enabled = Checked
c) Save the settings.
3. Still on the router's web-based setup page, click on Setup tab.
a) Set MTU from Auto to Manual.
b) Change the MTU size from 1500 (default) to 1365.
c) Scroll down and save the settings.
4. Power cycle. Unplug the power adapter of the router for 10 seconds and plug it back again.
5. On your Xbox 360:
a) Go back to the System area of the Xbox Dashboard.
b) Select Network Settings.
c) Select Test Xbox Live Connection.
d) After the system has completed its tests, select More Info to learn more about your network, paying close attention to any test that failed.
I checked more with Linksys and here is a Web page related to this, but note that this is for Xbox and not Xbox360. What is interesting to note is this from the PDF: " Before proceeding, please take note that Linksys does NOT support the configuration of Xbox™. The following instructions simply tell you how to configure the router for the Xbox™, not the game console itself. For technical support on the Xbox™, contact Microsoft."
I think this may support my case that Linksys and Xbox are not good friends.
Setting-Up the Xbox™

P.S. - It is my guess that Linksys/Cisco is wrong here; that they have not recognized the problem or are not willing at this time time to acknowledge it. What do you think?

Roland MC500 into logic - setting tempo for imported midi data
My mate has an Roland MC500, where he's programmed multi-tracked midi info for songs etc, and we've sussed how to import the channels into separate regions in logic.
We've set the tempo as per the tempo on the MC500, but after importing the track, after a certain length of time the tempo goes out of sync. All the midi data has come across, and when assigning soft-synths etc it plays fine, but just moves out of tempo.
Is there a way that, when you have imported midi data in this way, you can ask logic to confirm/set the tempo?
I've had a read thru the manuals etc, but may have missed where it describes that bit?
Thanks for any advice.
andyyes...
you need to set the MC500 to send the MMC over its MIDI outs... than in Logic you must set th sync "Blue button"
the picture shows MTC but if you scroll down the menu you will find MMC settings... that must be turned ON on Logic settings Synchronization.
Logic must be setted as Slave... because Roland device is the slower one!
