How to set up email for multiple devices

What is the best way to synch e-mail on my wife's iPad with her Mac Book?  I thought iCloud allowed her comcast inbox to update on all devices.  Thank you.

As I understand from a quick search, the ComCast email is POP3, that is not multidevice email. And just because your wife also has an iCloud account does not mean that the email from ComCast on an iOS device is going to jump over to the iCloud account in the same iOS Mail app.
You should go to the ComCast email website and configure your wife's CC email account to forward her email to her iCloud account. Then configure her Macs and iOS devices with just the iCloud account. She will then have iCloud email synced across all of her devices.
I know this works, I forward two IMAP Gmail and one POP3 Hotmail accounts to my iCloud email account. It works perfectly with email forwarded from any of these accounts, across both of my Macs and both of my iOS devices.
Hopefully her Mac has Mac OS X Lion or she cannot have iCloud. But she can still get the iCloud email in another Mac OS X version and I can help you set that up if necessary.

  • Saving separate sets of apps for multiple devices

    Hi,
This has probably been asked before, sorry if redundant.
I have an iPhone and an iPad, my wife has an iPhone. We prefer different apps on pur phones and a different set for the iPad. iTunes recognizes the devices with different names when they are attached, but the app set from the last device attached is still checked.
It's a real pain to have to go through, checking and unchecking each time, just to Sync one or two new items.
Is there a way to "save" your app set for each item so that when you connect a device, it recognizes it AND the last app set you choose for that device?
Probably a real easy solution but darned if I can figure it out.
    Thanks
    Joe

Just tried this with my wifes phone, the last one that was Synced .
Right click? I am using an Apple mouse, not a two button one.
I have been told that you can right or left click with an Apple mouse, didn't work here. No pop up menu like with a two button mouse or when using a Windows computer.
The only Backup option I can see is the choice to Back Up To iCloud or Back Up to This Computer. Is that what you are referring to?
It's currently backed up to iCloud. Does she need to change that to save her selected set of apps?

  • For an iCloud and/or Windstream email account, how can I delete emails across multiple devices, without having to go to each device?

I have a friend with an iCloud email account and Windstream account on both her iPad and iPhone... She's saying that when she deletes an email from one device, it doesn't delete it from the other automatically... She's using both emails through the "Mail, Contacts and Calendars" settings under the "Settings" menu; not through apps...  I've had her check both of her email account settings to make sure that the settings were consistent... I've never had this issue with Exchange or Gmail, and I don't use the iCloud email account, so I'm a little unfamiliar with what else to look at... Can someone offer some advice, please?
    Thank you for your help!

IMAP is the mail protocol that allows you to delete a message one place and have it delete everywhere else. iCloud uses IMAP, so it should be working. If the messages never delete, then something may be incorrect in the settings. The easiest thing to do with iCloud is to logout of the account on every device, and then login again. (Another common problem with iCloud email is people often have two Apple IDs, and thus may have two iCloud email accounts. If you get confused about which one you're using, you may think you've deleted email when you actually haven't.)
If the iCloud messages do ultimately delete across all devices, then it could be that some devices aren't set to "Push" but are instead set to "Fetch" the newest info from the server. Fetch can be set to as long as an hour between check-ins.
The same holds true for Windstream if she's using an IMAP account there, too. If it's a POP account, then deleting a message one place will never delete it anywhere else—that's the way POP works.

  • How can I eliminate email on multiple devices?

I have four different email accounts.  I have three devices, a Macbook Pro, an iPhone and an iPad.  How can I coordinate the devices so that all email goes to my computer, but only messages that have not downloaded to the computer go to the other devices?  I end up deleting the same emails from multiple locations, which just takes too much time.
    Thanks

My mail account on my iPhone is configured as a POP account.  Messages are set to never remove from server.
This same mail account is configured as POP account on my iPad.  Messages are set to never remove from server.
This account on my MBP is set as POP, and again, remove from server is disabled.
Every email appears in every location.  As an example, I had not turned on my iPad for two days, until I checked the settings of the email account.  It immediately downloaded 99 messages.  I have seen these messages on both my computer and iPhone already, and have deleted them from iPhone.  I would have preferred that they never appeared on the iPad.
    Is this possible?

  • How to set up imessage on multiple devices?

It used to be simple: imessages showed up on all your devices. It seems that Apple wanted to make it more flexible, you can specify which addresses to use for which device. Now it is not the usual Apple user-friendly.
I have four Apple devices, and my wife has two. What I want is that any message I send from one of my four Apple devices show up on both her Apple devices, and vica versa. Right now, I never know where a message may show up. If I send a message from my iMac, it may go to her iPhone, but not her iPad, and her reply comes back to my iMac, but does not show up on my iPhone. I have added all email addresses to all devices, to no avail. The other day I used half an hour experimenting with her iphone, and finally managed to make messages from my iPad show up on her iPhone, by playing around with different settings. But I did not manage to make messages from my iPad show up on her iPad. This is not the way Apple is supposed to be.
So, my question: is there a simple way to completely synchronize all my four Apple devices so they show the same messages? As mentioned, I have already added all email addresses to all devices, so the settings should be the same (BUT: it used to be possible to add an iPhone phone number as an 'email' address to a non iPhone device. No longer it seems).

I would say to check this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2755 about troubleshooting messages, this one addresses the iCloud account overall http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4436 and this one has to do with activations of iMessage http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4268. You might need to remove the iCloud account from one of the devices you are having difficulty with and re-establish it.

  • [CS2/CS3 JS] How to set Default Font for multiple documents

    Hello,
How do I set the default font for any new text frames I create.
I have several thousand InDesign templates in which the default font is set to a font that is no longer licenced and therefore requires changing.
I already have a script which will open each template and change the first insertion point of any (empty) text frame to a new font but any new text frames created in these templates still want to use the unlicensed font.
    Thanks for any assistance.
    Simon Kemp

    for existing documents:

  • How do I sync emails on multiple devices so that they show as read when opened on different devices?

I can't get my mail on my phone to show as having been replied on after I've checked and replied on a different device like my laptop. Can anyone help?

What type of email account do you have? What you describe is the normal operating mode for an IMAP email account. If you have a POP email account, that is very difficult to achieve. (I don't know of any way.)

  • I have one apple ID for multiple devices in my family.  I'd like to keep it that way for itunes/app purchases.  I would like a simple step 1, step 2, step 3 response on what I need to do to separate all other features like imessage, contacts, emails, etc.

I have one apple ID for multiple devices in my family.  I'd like to keep it that way for itunes/app purchases.  I would like a simple step 1, step 2, step 3 response on what I need to do to separate all other features like imessage, contacts, emails, etc.
I have been reasearching how to do this on the internet, but I haven't found an easy explanation yet.  My family is going crazy over each others imessages being sent to others in the family and not being able to use FaceTime because of conflicting email addresses.  I have read that if each person gets their own iCloud account, this would work.  However, I need to know what to do after I set everyone up with their own iCloud account.  Do I make that the default email address to be contacted or can they still use their hotmail email addresses.  Any help- with easy explanation- would be much appreciated!!

We do this in my family now.  We have one account for purchases, so it is used to share music and apps (I think that is in Settings/iTunes & App Stores).  Each iDevice has this configured.
Then, each of us has our own iCloud account that is configured under Settings/iCloud.  That then allows us to have our own Mail/Contacts/Calendars/Reminders/Safari Bookmarks/Notes/Passbook/Photo Stream/Documents & Data/Find My iPhone/and Backup.  That Backup piece is pretty sweet and comes in handly if you replace your iDevice.  You can just restore from it.
So we all share the Apple Store account but we all have our own iCloud accounts to keep the rest seperate or things like you mentioned are a nightmare.
In answer to what iCloud does for you: http://www.apple.com/icloud/features/
Think of it as an internet based ("cloud") area for all of those items listed in my response.  What you need to remember is photo stream only maintans the last 1000 pictures so don't count it as a complete backup solution for your pictures.  Even though I rarely sync with a computer these days, I do still try to sync my phone with iPhoto (I have an iMac) so that I have copies of all of my pictures.  1000 may not stretch as far as it sounds.

  • Time Capsule only works for one device at a time, how to make it capable to be used for multiple devices at times

Time Capsule only works for one device at a time, how to make it capable to be used for multiple devices at times.
Please help to set it up, thanks in advance

You need to give more info..
Firstly only works for what.. networking.. backup.. wireless. You need more nouns.. more adjectives... describe what you want and what fails.. then we can figure out why.
Most likely you have bridged it when it should be in router mode..
Most likely you are using Lion or ML which has the airport utility bridge the TC by default.
Change it to working as a router. That might help.
If you press reset button it will default back to router btw.
If you are on Lion.. use a real utility. http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1547

  • How do you set the duration for multiple stills in iMovie 2013?

How do you set the duration for multiple stills in iMovie 2013?
Before upgrading to the latest version of iMovie last month, I was able to set the duation of all of the stills included in an iMovie project at one time by clicking the apply to all still box in the adjustment pop up. That option is no longer apparent. If it is available I cannot find it, and I have tried several different ways to accomplish it. I have tried the iMovie help section and can find nothing to help.
Apple, do I really have to adjust close to 500 pictures to a 5 second duration individually???
    REALLY??!!

...why wouldnt people want that level of accuracy when animating, especially when working to music at a specific duration?
Because often people are animating to words or beats in the music.  Music is rarely performed with a computer-precise beat and tempo.  Musicians aren't robots: they swing the beat sometimes.  They use rubato.  They change tempo.  They change time signatures.  As a result, you have to FIND those words and beats.  It's not a situation where you can say, "There!  I've found the duration of one beat!  Now it's easy to find the rest of them!"
If you try it, you will be very disappointed.
Try finding the precise end of a piece of music that fades or ends on a big chord with a ring-out.  You'll see that it's trial-and-error: what's the point where it becomes inaudible?  It depends on how high your speakers are turned up.  You might have them way up, you set an end point for the layer, and then you do a RAM Preview at a more reasonable volume.  You might say, "Hey!  The music ends before the layer ends!"...  but you KNOW you set the layer's out point when the audio file goes silent.
AE has layer markers that can be used on an audio layer to mark beats, words, etc. They come in very handy.
I guess it comes down to this: because AE can do so much different stuff, there are very few automated procedures.  Oh, Adobe tries with effects that convert audio levels to keyframes, but they're not 100% reliable... especially on something like a capella choral works.  For true accuracy, you need  find the timings yourself.
If you want something simpler, try a different application. But be prepared for lower level of accuracy.

  • Can I use the same Apple ID for multiple devices

Can I use the same Apple ID for multiple devices?

Yes. Up to five devices can be authorized on a single computer using the same Apple ID. You can also use the same Apple ID on multiple devices is they are all going to use the same iTunes Library by the same user. But it's ill-advised if multiple users are involved who wish to keep their devices separate from the devices belonging to other users.
How to use multiple iPhone, iPad, or iPod devices with one computer
Using More than One iDevice on the Same Computer
This applies mainly to couples who are adding another device and do not want their email, messages, etc. being duplicated on both devices. To begin read: How to use multiple iPhone, iPad, or iPod devices with one computer. You need to establish a separate Apple ID and password for whomever will use the new iDevice. See Apple - My Apple ID and Frequently asked questions about Apple ID. The easiest way is to do this on the computer using iTunes: iTunes- How to set up an Apple ID within iTunes.
On the computer create a new user account for the person with the new iDevice. This will be the user account that person will always use. He/She will no longer use the other user account. This way that person will have a separate iTunes Library
Start by transferring the new device(s) to a new account along with all your data.  Save any photo stream photos that you want to keep to your camera roll (unless they are already in the camera roll) by opening your Photos app, tap on Albums icon at the bottom. Now, tap on My Photo Stream album; tap Select; tap on the photos you want to select;, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow) in the lower left corner; then tap Save to Camera Roll.
If you are syncing notes with iCloud that you want to keep then you need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself. Later you can copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account.
Tap on Settings > iCloud > Delete Account (only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud; the person keeping the current account will not be affected,) provide the password to turn off Find My Phone and choose Keep on My iDevice when prompted.  Sign in with a different Apple ID to create your new account. Choose Merge to upload your data.
Once you are on separate accounts, you can each go to icloud.com and delete the other person's data from your account.
