How to set up firmware password?

Here's the problem. I have a recently purchased MBP that can only boot from Snow Leopard 10.6.7 and up. I have a Snow Leopard install disk that is 10.6.0. The mac will not boot from the disk, which means that I cannot use the disk to set up a firmware password. Any workarounds? Thanks.

To downgrade, I cloned a completely bootable/usable external hard drive running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 to my internal hard drive. It is NOT a Snow Leopard Installer.
Is it possible to boot from that external hard drive, even though it is not a Snow Leopard Installer?

Firmware password is not much use as any thief can reset it by pulling out the memory chips and putting them back in again.
The only real way to secure your data 99% is to use FileVault 2.

You are partially correct. It depends if the security-mode is set to "command" or "full" (and if auto-boot?=true). If it is set to command, he can put in the other systems disk (in the same slot) and enter "b" to boot, then enter the eeprom command as root after he logs in. However, he cannot boot to cdrom because the boot-device is directed to the hard drive and cannot be changed without the eeprom password. I have used this technique to set security-mode=none on several E250s in years past.
If it is set to "full", his only option is to enter the password and log in to get an OK prompt, which leaves him where he currently is.
You dont have to get your prom from SUN. The SUN part number for an Ultra30 prom is: 525-1669, which you get several hits on if you search. IIRC, anysystems.com doesn't list the part but they can probably help you out.

If I hold the ALT key during boot I get the option to enter a password but I can't remember what it is to save my life! Apple Technicians: I am about 300 miles from the nearest Apple store, that being said I have a copy of Apple Service Toolkit. AST OS 12 contains a special NetBoot disk image installer with a bare bones 10.8.4 with TestMarshal. In addition to Apple Service Diagnostics 3S155 software. Is this the same software that Apple would use if I drove 300 miles just to SEE if they could fix it and then have to drive back after they work on it?

if you wanted different types of users to login with different privilagez,do the following

in the above statement "privilege exec level 15 "will have full access, "privilege exec level 5" will have the limited like "show" related
