How to set up ichat to work with gmail audio/video?

Just messaging works fine, anyway to set it up gmail video to fully work via ichat? I'm using Lion. Thank you!

Hi,
It depends on your Buddy and what app they are using.
iChat to iChat using Google names works in Video.
Most Jabber apps use a Process called Jingle to connect Audio/Video chats
Google has a a version of this that is used within the PC Web Brwoser Plug-in and the Intel Only Mac one and their Standalone App called GoogleTalk for PCs.
This version of Jingle is also not that compatible with other Jabber apps.
iChat uses a process called SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) to connect.
This works with AIM and Trillian on a PC for the AIM Service as well as other iChat users.
So...
Your Google Buddies will have to be a Mac Buddy using iChat.
For others you will have to resort to using your Browser and the Chat in Gmail Web Page or iGoogle.

I am new to the SunOne IDE. I am trying to use the JDBC wizard to generate a form to work with an Oracle table. I want to use the ORacle thin driver but I am not sure how I can tell the IDE where its located. Can someone help? Thanks.

In the explorer window select "RUNTIME".(Bottom of window tabbed pane)
    Expand "DATABASES"
    Expand "DRIVERS"
Scrolldown and you'll see Oracle thin - click on that and set properties.
Then right click "Oracle thin" click "connect using..."
From here/there you should be able to view all tables you have access to view..etc.

  • How do i get ichat to work with my ipad

I cant seem to get my family iphones and my ipad to work with ichat, i get an offline message when i try to send one?

It depends upon the model. It's wifi-enabled ? And is it listed on this page as supporting AirPrint : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4356 ?
If not then do Lexmark have their own app in your country's store that supports that model ? If they don't then there are a number of third-party printer apps such as Print n Share and PrintCentral Pro which might work with it.

  • How to set up iOS calendar app with shared Google Calendar data

At work (in our small office) I've been given access to the shared Google Calendar that has our work schedule. It was set up using this page (click on Share an existing calendar):
    https://support.google.com/calendar/answer/37082
The question I have is how to set it up to work with iOS calendar app on my iPhone?

"currently there is no shared group calendar support."
Well, not really. You hinted at it with: "set up a group wiki."
Go into Workgroup Manager and set up an Open Directory group. Add people to it.
Each client must then go into iCal --> Preferences --> Accounts and add an account. The name and password entered must be the same as that added to the group, Kerberos must be unchecked, and the account URL will be like (fill in the blanks properly):
    http://<your domain name here>:8008/principals/groups/<your group name here>/
Now each properly logged in user of that group can make changes to the shared group calendar, without any "hacks" like making dummy users and delegation.
However, I am getting a notifier: "Request Error: Accesss to <event name> in <your group name here> in account <your group name here> is not permitted." But that seems to be a lie, since multiple members of the group can make changes and others can see the changes.
Oh yea, make sure you have a functioning DNS with valid reverse lookup.

kichat: FAQ 2 - How to get my router to work with iChat? December 2008 version 3
(Note to Hosts. to be removed on acceptance. Please use this to replace http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=121775 )
Getting your router started with iChat.
Appropriate for using iChatAV 2 upwards. Edits have been made for iChat 4
    Glossary for this FAQ
Routers: Any configurable device that sits between your computer and the internet link you have. This includes Modems that Route as well as "routers"
Routers seem to fall into two categories
Those that work straight from the box. See Apple Article HT1787
NOTE :This Article has not been updated in content since Jan 04 Only being changed to an Article from the Previous Doc listing
Even then some list that they need tweaks.
    and those that do not.
This post will deal with what you may need to look at.
First off make sure your device is acting as a DHCP server. (if you are already on the internet you may not have to bother with this.)
Check in the Tiger System Preferences > Network Preference Pane, in the "Built in Ethernet" option from the "Show" drop down list.
In Leopard the Networks are listed on the left with icons. The Airport Option will need you to access the Advance Button for the Next bit.
Make sure the TCP/IP tab is the 'front' one. You should be able to see Configure IPv4 and it most likely reads Using DCHP. Make a note of your IP address. It will start 10.xxx.xxx.xxx or 192.168.xxx.xxx (the 'x' s will stand for any number between 1 and 255). The range 172.16.xxx.xxx is also a possible value at this point. Rarely used, but it is part of the RFC for Address Allocation for Private Internets.
Your router is most likely to be configurable from your browser. You will need to find the IP address to type into the browser from any Readme or PDF files that came on the install disk or visit the makers website and download a manual.
The Port Forward.com site lists many devices and clicking on one will take you to a list of Applications. This iChat will open an page that will start by telling you the defaults to access the device
Opening or Allowing ports. Several Methods not all devices have all of them.
    DMZ (Demilitarised Zone)
This is a less secure setting that basically opens all ports and points the incoming data to your computer. (not helpful if you have more than one computer on your LAN). It can be considered as an extreme form of Port Forwarding
Port Forwarding (also Virtual Server or Pin Holes)
These settings are usually found in an Advanced setting.
You may need to set an incoming IP address (Usually 0.0.0.0 to any outside server), a port that data will arrive on, the Inside computer's IP address (your computer) and the port it will deal with the data on and the protocol it will use.
See this pic for an example of the description above.
In this example shows that on some Port AND Protocols need to be listed.
iChat uses TCP and UDP so some devices will need the ports listed one by one and some settings done twice, once for each protocol. The example above has a "Both" setting
See Apple Article HT1507 Previously Doc 93208 for more information. This is the Tiger iChat 3 list. The same ports are needed for Leopard except for these changes
    My Note 2:
On the first link Note 1 under tables in that link would be better if it read:
" 1. All iChat AV traffic is UDP -
    except for ports 5190 and 5298, which need to be open for both TCP as well;
and 5220, 5222, which need to be open for TCP only. "
    Note 2
GoggleTalk needs port 5223 on TCP. Also note the Server name for iChat 3 set ups
    UPnP Universal Plug n Play.
This is a simple Plug and Play type of setting. iChat can find it's own way through a router if the device has this capability.
By Not doing Port Forwarding, Triggering or DMZ and enabling UPnP the application is allowed to control the modem and the ports that are open.
They close after the application has finished with them on a timed basis.
On some devices the number of "hops" (how far away the UPnP can be "seen") can be reduced from a default of 4)
    Trigger Ports
Some devices offer a security measure that works by a first or trigger port receiving a data packet and then opening further ports when accepted.
The first port for incoming Video or Audio invites is port 5678.
    Pre iChat 4
When you click on the invite window the process moves in to port 5060 (so these will need to be opened by the trigger port) for negotiating the final group of ports from the group of 20 (16384-16403 These will need to open when the trigger says so as well). Therefore port 5678 triggers ports 5678, 5060, 16384-16403. All on UDP. Port 5190 neeeds to trigger port 5190 for both TCP and UDP.
See this variation where only the ports listed above are completed.
The other single ports need to be set one by one in addition. (5220,5222, 5223 5297, 5298, 5353)Replace
    iChat 4
The port used in IChat 4 is port 16402 instead of port 5060. The group of 20 ports is reduced to 10 (16393-16402). This is because all the In and Out Audio and Video data is on one port. Other that than the settings are the same.
At this time there is no Info on the ports the Screen Sharing in iChat 4 uses.
    Wireless
Here you will have to read around but this Apple Article TA25949 Previously Doc 58514 might be a good starting place.
Essentially whether you are wireless or Ethernet to your routing device makes very little difference to the way you do things.
Your computer will get two IPs from a DHCP server if you are connected by both methods. (iChat does not like this)
    Multiple devices
Make sure only one is acting as a DHCP server. Make sure wireless devices are bridged properly.

  • How to get online apps to work with the Verizon DSL modem firewall set at "Medium" level, not "Low?"

How to get online apps to work with the Verizon DSL modem firewall set at “Medium” level? Xbox 360 Live, FTP, and the Windows sntp Time checker native to Windows XP WON’T WORK unless the Verizon firewall is first reset down to “Low.” Then all works well, but I then risk low firewall protection. Setup: · Westell 6100 DSL modem (Software Version: VER:4.04.03.00 Transceiver Revision: 7.2.3.0 Model Name: C90-610015-06), · D-Link DIR-655 wireless router (Hardware Version: A3, Firmware Version: 1.21), For Xbox 360 Live the “canned” port forwarding rule for provided in Verizon’s drop-down list for the Westell 6100 modem forwards ports 88 and 3074 for both TCP and UDP. This does not meet Microsoft’s forwarding recommendations for Xbox 360 Live stated at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/908874. Instead, for the Verizon modem (Westell) I made a new port forwarding rule to comply with those Microsoft instructions. It forwards ports 53, 80 and 3074 for TCP and ports 53, 88 and 3074 for UDP. These same ports are also forwarded in the D-Link router configuration. For FTP, port 21 is also forwarded for TCP and UDP in both modem and router. But they don’t work until I first cripple the Verizon firewall down to “Low.” How to get them to work with the Verizon firewall up to Medium?

While I do not know the answer to your question, BUT since you have this modem and another router - you could just follow.

    Trouble Shooting Revisited
Ok We will start with loading Tiger and iChat version 3.0
    From Panther
There are or were serveral Add-ons and applications avaiblable to Panther users of iChat that are not compatible with iChat 3.
These following need to be deleted.
iCAR - An Add-on that posts an Auto response Away message (produces a 1 fps result in a Video chat)
Virex for Panther - An Anti Virus app avialable to @mac account users (Produces the 1 fsp problem)
iChatUSBCam for Panther/iChat2.x - A Add-on utility for using iSight or USB cam with iChat2.x (Incompatible with Tiger/iChat 3)
iProfile - An Add-on for producing a profile on the AIM server that ichat 2.x could not do (not proven to be a problem but now not needed).
A clean install of Tiger (not Archive and Install) produces the best results.
But any install should also check these Tiger settings.
First, UPGRADE to 10.4.3 as this gets past many Connection issues that became apparent with the basic Tiger (10.4) and iChat 3.0 It updates iChat to version 3.1
    Check Settings
Don't be complacent that you have not set anything different.
There are several new things in Tiger that may trip you up.
    These are worth looking at:
Mac Firewall. Now includes the ability to Block all UDP traffic in the Advanced button (System Preferences > Sharing >Firewall tab then the Advanced Button).
Also can now open UDP protocol for ports where as the Panther one only did TCP (Check any old Panther settings you Added to the presets).
    The ports should be:
    TCP -5190
    UDP -5060, 5190, 5678, 16384-16403
There are more ports for Bonjour 5297, 5298, 5353 UDP and 5298 TCP and Jabber, 5220, 5222, 5223 on TCP)
    (Table View see 7th Sept)
QuickTime. This has a change in the name of the Connection Speed tab to Streaming (System Preferences > QuickTime) Check this is set to be equal to your connection speed (the download one if this is faster). See Apple Doc 301641 Dated 9th November 2005.
Date & Time. Not conclusively involved but worth eliminating. Set a Network Server and the correct Time Zone.
Apple Remote Desktop. If this is active in System Preferences > Sharing > Services tab it causes problems for iChat.
Next, test the actual speed you are getting from your ISP.
    http://www.dslreports.com/stest
There is a table here of the speeds you need:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301050
The one you get linked to in the Help menu is wrong.
    Other Known Problems
There are several other applications that iChat 3 does not seem to like.
folding@home This is a application that uses spare processor time to help find protein chains for a University.
PostgreSQL This is a data base application that can be reset to allow more processor time for iChat. See here http://www.murraywilliams.com/blog/archives/000046.html
Lotus Notes Some people have reported problems with this.
Make sure any Add-on Video cards or input PCI cards have up to date Firmware
IF you are still having problems I would do Routine Maintenance Tasks as laid out here.
Lastly, some routers/modems are SIP aware and give different results in iChat 3 compared to iChat 2.
This is due to the Operating System changing (like a new computer connecting to the modem) rather than iChat.
See My web pages: page4 at the SIP Text in a Box section.
Also for the above try some housekeeping particularly if you do not keep your Computer on 24/7 Gulliver, "kmosx3: Mac OS X 10.3/10.4: System maintenance"

i think apple needs to keep up with the jones here, so far i read at LOGIC PRO FORUMS many saying cubase and pro tools left logic in the dust, 1 year ago already, sad, but true
in anycase, trye starting one app before the other to see which combination works., other wise i think more apps will fall out of sync with old logic pro

There is a table here of the speeds you need:
iChat 3/Tiger (OS 10.4) Speed requirements
The one you get linked to in the Help menu is wrong.
    Other Known Problems
There are several other applications that iChat 3 does not seem to like.
folding@home This is a application that uses spare processor time to help find protein chains for a University.
PostgreSQL This is a data base application that can be reset to allow more processor time for iChat. See here http://www.murraywilliams.com/blog/archives/000046.html
Lotus Notes Some people have reported problems with this.
Make sure any Add-on Video cards or input PCI cards have up to date Firmware
IF you are still having problems I would do Gulliver's Routine Maintenance Tasks as laid out here.
Lastly, some routers/modems are SIP aware and give different results in iChat 3 compared to iChat 2.
This is due to the Operating System changing (like a new computer connecting to the modem) rather than iChat.
See My web pages: page4 at the SIP Text in a Box section. This has moved on somewhat since Tiger came out with Thomson-Alcatel brining out newer firmware version that are mentioned later in that section.
Also for the above try some housekeeping particularly if you do not keep your Computer on 24/7 Gulliver's, "kmosx3: Mac OS X 10.3/10.4: System maintenance"

Based on what you've posted, your computer does not have the right tuner.   You need a QAM tuner to record locals from FiOS, or a CableCard tuner to record all local and cable channels from FiOS.
QAM tuners to record local channels only
This requires Windows Vista or Windows 7
    Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2250
SiliconDust HDHomeRun (info on a sale)
CableCard tuner to record local and cable channels
This requires Windows 7 + one CableCard from Verizon for $3.99/mo
ATI TV Wonder Digital PC CableCard Tuner (records one channel at a time) -- $200-$250 on ebay
Ceton MOCUR tuner (records four channels at a time) -- coming in early 2010 for $400-$600
Make sure your computer has Windows 7 Home Premium (or better) installed.   That's necessary to support CableCard tuners.

  • My old appleID use email with domain already deactivate. So I changed my appleID and primary email and now I can not access iCloud with iOS7. ICloud shows my old appleID but I can't change it. How do I get iCloud to work with my updated ID?

My old email that using register for apple ID cannot access/check any mail because that domain already deactivate.
So I changed my appleID and primary email and now I can not access iCloud with iOS7. ICloud shows my old appleID but I can't change it. How do I get iCloud to work with my updated ID?

    Hi ccharat,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you did a good job editing your Apple ID and primary email address, but you didn’t sign out of iCloud on your iOS device before hand. What you may need to do in this situation is go back to the Apple ID website and edit your Apple ID and primary email address back to the email address that is signed in with iCloud (there is no need to verify the account after editing it back to the old account, just changing it back is enough). Once your Apple ID is back to the original account, delete the iCloud account from the iOS device and be sure to keep all info on the device when prompted. After you delete the iCloud account, go back to the website and edit your Apple ID and primary email address back to the new address. Once it is back to the account you would like, you can sign into the iCloud on the iOS device with that new account and merge all of the data when prompted. Please use the following article as a reference.
iOS 7: If you're asked for the password to your previous Apple ID when signing out of iCloud
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts5223
    Change your Apple ID temporarily
If signing out and back in to iMessage or FaceTime didn't help, try these steps:
Change your Apple ID to the Apple ID you used previously. You shouldn't need to verify the email address.
Go to Settings > iCloud. Complete these steps only if the Find My [Device] setting is turned on:
Scroll down and tap Delete Account, then tap Delete to confirm.
Tap “Keep on My [Device]” or “Delete from My [Device].” In either case, your data remains in iCloud and will be updated on your device when you sign in to iCloud again.
Enter the password for your previous Apple ID.
Change your Apple ID to the new email address that you want to use. You'll need to verify the email address.
Return to Settings > iCloud and sign in with your new Apple ID.
    I hope this helps,
    -Joe

  • How to configure airport extreme to work with Actiontec gt701d modem

I have been trying to set up a new Actiontec modem to work with a new Airport Extreme with no luck. I don't know what the right settings are to get it to work correctly. So far the only way I have been able to get the two to work together is to have the AE connect with ethernet and bridge mode. However with this configuration I can't setup a guest network which I would like to be able to do. I have read some past posts and have tried other configurations but end up either losing internet connection or getting a very slow connection. If anyone has some idea how to get this modem to work with the AE i would really appreciate some advice
    Thank you

Welcome to the discussion area, Meagan!
The Actiontec "modem" that you mention is really a gateway...a combination modem/router, so with this device and the AirPort Extreme, you have two routers on the network.
Whenever you have two routers on a network, the first router must be configured to handle the main routing chores and any other routers must be configured in Bridge Mode to function correctly. So, Bridge Mode is the correct setting for the AirPort Extreme when used with the Actiontec gt701d gateway.
In order for the AirPort Extreme to provide a Guest Network, it must be configured as the "main" router on a network. This won't be possible unless you can re-configure the Actiontec device to act as a simple modem, not a router. You might want to check with Actiontec support to see whether this might be possible.

  • How does Creative Cloud for teams work with staff who work in two locations ie in the office/home

How does Creative Cloud from teams work with staff who work in two locations i.e. in the office and home?

There is no difference please be aware that each login is provided with two activations however.  If you wish to have a computer at both work and home activated though that is perfectly fine as long as your employer is ok with using company software at home.

My iPod Classic is seen by Windows but not by iTunes.  I have reset it, gone to disk mode and it won't show up in iTunes.  There appears to be music on it in a file called MUSICSAVE.  How can I get this to work with iTunes again?

    1. Update iTunes to the latest version. Plug in your iPod. If iTunes still can't recognize it, then in iTunes in the top left corner click help> run diagnostics. On the box that comes up, check the last two things. Click next and it should identify your iPod.
    2. Click on your windows start menu. Type in "services". Click on it and when it pops up, on the bottom of it click on "standard". Now Scroll down to find "Apple Mobile Device" Right click it when you see it and click on "Start". When it has started, close iTunes and replug in your iPod and it should show up.
    3. Check the USB cable
4 Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
    5. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service and verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed.
    6. If you just want to add some photos, songs and movies from computer to your devices, you can use an iTunes alternative to do the job
    7. Check for third-party software conflicts.
