  • Got new iPhone 6 and backed up all data from iphone 4 to cloud and taking hours to restore to new phone

RRestoring from iCloud backup to iPhone 6 from 4 and when I check cloud storage settings it shows iPhone 4 with all the data and none for new iphone 6 should I delete the iPhone 4 backup

    Hi janicefrombel air,
Be aware it can take quite a while for it to restore.
If you need help restoring an iCloud backup
The restore process is taking a long time to finish.
The amount of time needed by the restore process depends on your geographical location and the speed of your Internet connection. Even with a fast Internet connection, the restore process might take 1 to 4 hours per gigabyte to complete
So if you have several gigabytes to restore, it may be an overnight process.
You might try backing up and restoring with a computer. See the section "Use iTunes" in this article:
Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    Best Regards,
    Nubz

  • HT204053 My daughter and me use the same cloud ID and to buy songs and now all her contacts ended up on my new iphone 5  and I manually erased all from my phone and now they are gone from her phone.  How does she get back her contacts?

My daughter and me use the same cloud and apple id to buy songs in the past.  I got first iphone 5 and after trying to set up itunes to phone I ended up with all my daughters contacts from her iphone on my iphone.  I then deleted them from my phone one by one and now they are gone from her phone as well.  How does she get them back on hers and what happen????  Help with cloud!

That's what happens when you share the same iCloud account.  First, migrate his phone to a different iCloud account using a different ID (you can continue to share the same ID for other services such as iTunes if you want).  To do this, on his phone save any photo stream photos that he wants to keep to his camera roll (unless already there) by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tapping the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow), then tapping Save to Camera Roll.  If he are syncing notes with iCloud that he wants to keep, you'll need to open each of your notes and email them to him so he can later copy and paste the text into new notes created in his new account.  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account (which only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud; this won't effect your phone), provide the password to turn off Find My iPhone and choose Keep on My iPhone when prompted.  Then sign back in with a different Apple ID to create his new account and choose Merge to upload the data.  After doing this, he can go to icloud.com and safely delete your data from his new account.
Then, if your contacts were on your phone when you last backed it up to iCloud, you can restore them by following Winston Churchill's user tip here: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4841.  This involves turning off your wifi after your phone restarts during the restore process, then saving the contacts on your phone and deleting them from iCloud prior to turning your wifi back on and allowing the restore process to finish.  You can turn off your wifi either by pulling the cord out of the WAN port in your wifi router, or by simply unplugging it.

  • How to set up new iPhone 6

Please help, I've just bought a new iPhone, an iPhone 6 and it's not set up at all. They normally set it up for me in the shop but the store was rammed and I was in a rush so I left. anyone can help me. Never set one up before?

Follow page 15 of the user guide iOS8
Here's how it starts. Create an Apple ID before that, if you don't already have one. This page will guide you through this:
Apple - Support - Apple ID
Activation can be done over a Wi-Fi network or, with iPhone 4s or later, over your carrier’s cellular network (not available in all areas). If neither option is available, you need to connect iPhone to your computer and use iTunes to activate iPhone (see the following section).
Set up and activate iPhone. Turn on iPhone and follow the Setup Assistant.
The Setup Assistant steps you through the process, including:
    Connecting to a Wi-Fi network
Signing in with or creating a free Apple ID (needed for many features, including iCloud, FaceTime, the App Store, the iTunes Store, and more)
    Entering a passcode
Setting up iCloud and iCloud Keychain
Turning on recommended features such as Location Services
    Activating iPhone with your carrier
You can also restore from an iCloud or iTunes backup during setup.
Note: Find My iPhone is turned on when you sign in to iCloud. Activation Lock is engaged to help prevent anyone else from activating your iPhone, even if it is completely restored. Before you sell or give away your iPhone, you should reset it to erase your personal content and turn off Activation Lock. See Sell or give away iPhone on page 176.
Some carriers let you unlock iPhone for use with their network. To see if your carrier offers this option, see support.apple.com/kb/HT1937. Contact your carrier for authorization and setup information. You need to connect iPhone to iTunes to complete the process. Additional fees may apply. For more information, see support.apple.com/kb/HT5014.
    Apple ID
Your Apple ID is the account you use for just about everything you do with Apple, including storing your content in iCloud, downloading apps from the App Store, and buying music, movies, and TV shows from the iTunes Store.
If you already have an Apple ID, use it when you first set up iPhone, and whenever you need to sign in to use an Apple service. If you don’t already have an Apple ID, you can create one whenever you’re asked to sign in. You only need one Apple ID for everything you do with Apple.
    For more information, see appleid.apple.com.

  • HT4623 Have a new iphone 5 and trying to transfer info from old iphone. Seems like the new phone is stuck on the choose backup page and I cant seem to get it to move. Help!?

Have a new Iphone and trying to set up. Got to the page choose back up and both old phone and ipad are showing but cant select either and its just sitting there. what should i be doing?

You can transfer the purchases you made on your old iPhone 3 by plugging it in to iTunes and doing File > Devices > Transfer Purchases from your IPhone to the iTunes on your computer.  This will get music you purchased in iTunes, apps, etc.  (e.g., movies).
But for the rest you would need to restore a backup of your newly deceased computer.

  • I just bought a new iPhone 5 and I downloaded my songs from iTunes. now when i go to play them, it says URL not found in server.

    Helppppp!!

You'll have to contact iTunes store support regarding your credit card information problem: http://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html.  I'm not clear on what you're saying about your backup.  Are you saying that when you connect to iTunes it's asking you to restore from backup even though you already have?

  • Set up new iPhone 5 with iCloud restore, then iTunes created new library with only content already on phone. How do I find and sync everything in original library?

My daughter got a new iPhone 5 and we set it up using the option to restore her iPhone 4 backup from iCloud. This worked great and everything on the old phone showed up on the new phone. Because we were traveling, we weren't able to sync the iPhone 5 with iTunes at that time.
She purchased new apps and music on the iPhone 5. When we returned home she synced with iTunes, and it seems to have created a new library, with only the content currently on the phone. I don't know if it prompted her to do this on the first sync or not - she doesn't remember.
So in iTunes, the library now only shows the music on the phone. A sync isn't doing much now because when choosing the phone in iTunes and selecting each content type across the top (Apps, Music, Movies, TV Shows) the box is unchecked to sync that content. When I check the box to "Sync Music", iTunes gives a warning:
Are you sure you want to sync music? all existing songs and playlists on the iPhone Becca's iPhone will be replaced with songs and playlists from your iTunes library.
Same goes for apps, except that warning also mentions that the apps and their data will be erased and replaced.
At some point she was also getting a message that this iPhone was associated with another library, but I'm not sure how she had triggered that. She says she canceled out of that. I can see all of the music
How do we get iTunes to see the "old" library of songs, videos and apps without losing the ones she's purchased already on the iPhone? The music files themselves are still on the computer, and include music both purchased from iTunes as well as music ripped from CDs. Thanks for any advice!

  • I recently changed my apple ID but my previous apple ID is associated with my icloud account. I'm setting up my new iphone 6 and cannot complete the set up until I can sync my icloud account. Does anyone know how to change the icloud id?

I recently changed my apple ID but my previous apple ID is associated with my icloud account. I'm setting up my new iphone 6 and cannot complete the set up until I can sync my icloud account. Does anyone know how to change the icloud id?

    Do the following:
Make sure you are signed into iMessage and FaceTime with your current ID.  If they are signed into the old ID, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and Settings>FaceTime, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with your current ID.
Then temporarily recreate the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  (You should not have to verify the old email account so it doesn’t matter if you no longer have access to it.)  Now go to Settings>iCloud, turn off Find My iPhone and enter your current password when prompted (even though it prompts you for the password for your old ID).  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Sign Out and choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign back in with your current iCloud ID and password (your data will download back to your phone).
