How to set up parental controls in itunes

I am trying to set up parental controls in itunes.  I'm confused, as it says to set it up on the administrator account - but we only have one account.  Please help.

If it is like mine, try this;  At the top, click on edit and go to preferences.  This will open choices for you and you will see parental controls.  Click on parental controls and then click on the padlock in the lower left hand corner.  The rest is self explanatory.

This is a user to user support forum.  We are all iphone users just like you.
You are not addressing Apple here at all.
This is an odd way to ask your fellow iphone users for help. Berating oterh users will not help you.
    "it's too fragile"
No it is not.  i have never damaged one, nor has anyone I know.
" U loose data when Ur phone is locked"
No you don't.  Why do you think this?
"and there is no customer support!!!  "
Wrong yet again.  Apple has an 800 number and they have many retail stores and they have support articles that you can access using the search bar. Or you can contact them throgh express lane online
"but I will go back with Blackberry "
    Please do.

  • HT1420 How do I set up parental control on book downloads?  My daughter and I use the same Apple ID info.

How do I set up parental controls on my apple account, I want to censor the books that she's dowloading. We use the same account  Thanks!

Turning off in-app purchases and the App Store itself would be the best bet for you. You can always unlock these features as needed and lock them again.
Apart from restricting purchases, there are a number of other restrictions you can setup. You can even setup a safe browser with remote parental controls from the App Store, like the one from Mobicip. You may find this tutorial to be helpful: How to setup Parental Controls on the iPad.
    Hope this helps.

  • I have a teenager that has learned how to delete his history, is there a way to lock the history to where I can monitor the sites he visits without setting up parental control program on the computer?

I have a teenager that has learned how to delete his history, is there a way to lock the history to where I can monitor the sites he visits without setting up parental control program on the computer?

Use security software or a router with a build-in password protected logging feature if you want to keep a record of visited websites.<br />
You can't prevent people from deleting the history and other personal (private) data in Firefox and a log elsewhere will always work even if other browser would be used.

  • Parental control of iTunes over multiple users

Hi I have been able to move my iTunes folder to public which has allowed another user account to access content. However in this other account I have tried to put parental controls in place. On testing I played a 15 rated movie downloaded from iTunes and it played it no problem not even a password request. Is this due to me moving the iTunes folder to public?  Basically I want my daughter to be able to watch only some movies and I don't want to be messing around putting certain films in certain folders and other films in other folders

I am sorry, I gave you the wrong info.
This is a link to a info video on setting up Parental Controls ON a MAC computer NOT iOS
    http://www.apple.com/findouthow/mac/#parentalcontrols
To set up Restrictions in DVD Player:
    Turn on parental control
To restrict access to DVDs for certain users, such as children, turn on parental control in DVD Player.
Choose Features > Enable Parental Control, and then enter an administrator name and password.
To remove parental control, choose Features > Disable Parental Control.
When parental control is enabled and a DVD is inserted, a computer administrator must authorize a DVD before it can be played. You can also set up authorization for a specific DVD.
    Sorry about the confusion.

  • Why cannot I view my passwords in keychain after having set up parental controls?

I used to be able to open keychain, click on any particular key, click on the box "view password" and see the password after entering my administrator name and master password. Then, I set up parental  controls on my macbook pro because I got tired of seeing all the pornographic ads and such that would often pop up when I did a google search. Now, any time I need to see one of my passwords, I only get a dialog box stating that "access is denied."  Any ideas on how to solve this frustrating problem?

hello gstout, you can use the no squint extension - it allows you to set a global zoom level for all sites: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/nosquint/

  • How can I put parental controls on laptops my kids already own?

    Hi all,
I bought my two daughters MacBook Airs this year, and they're great of course.
While setting up the MacBook Airs, the setup required user names and passwords for the accounts.  So they have those.  Each kid is the administrator of her computer, it therefore seems.
I would like to put parental controls on the MacBook Airs now.  (They're good kids, but I'm concerned about all the adult stuff on the internet.)  Is it too late?
Do I need to set everything up again so that I'm the Administrator and they're the users?  On previous (PC) laptops, I hated this, because then I had to sign in every time there was a software update and such.
Is there a way to set up parental controls after the fact now in a way where I won't have to sign in all the time to troubleshoot their computers?   Do I have to delete their current accounts, set up a new account for them and an account for me as "administrator"?  Will that become horribly cumbersome?
Any experiences and advice most welcome.  Thank you.

Admin rights are held in the Users & Groups Preference pane.
    Log in as her.
Create a new user for you and give that user Admin rights.
    Log her out.
Log in as you and take her admin rights away.
    Set Parental Controls.

  • Is it possible to set up parental control in MultiPoint Server 2012?

    Hello everyone!
Is it possible to set up parental control in MultiPoint Server 2012. I'd like to filter adult web sites.
    Kind regards,
    Pavel

I found an issue with Multipoint Dashboard that when student select to signout and then select "Cancel" to signout to go back to the session, the Multipoint Dashboard filtering is no longer applied to the session.
    here is the scenario -
     - Student login to the Multipoint server using the end point device as an standard user.
     - The Multipoint Dashboard has the configuration to "limit the website to all desktop". "cnn.com" only
     - The student session, limits the use of the web browser to only to cnn.com - this is working.
     - Studen open an app like notepad - click save --> prompted him to where to save the file.
do not save the file. leave the "Save as" windows open.
     - Click Start (left bottom corner)
     - Click the account’s name on the top right corner, Click Sign Out
     - It will prompt you with a warning that there is a file open and needs to be saved
     - "Signout anyway" or "Cancel"
     - student select to "Cancel"
     - He is now back to the session
This will allow the student/account logged in to bypass the web filtering

  • How can I restore Parental Control Settings from Time Machine Backup?

I was trying to adjust one of the parental controlled accounts for my child.  I disabled parental controls, rebooted, and re-enabled it.  Now all the settings that I had setup before are gone.  How can I restore Parental Control Settings from Time Machine Backup?

    Hi ...
I've found a solution to my problem.
Time Machine locates extenal HDD backups differently depending if they were done via a network or via a USB/FireWire/Thunderbolt connection.
My initial backup was done via a direct Thunderbolt connection. I ran into the above issue b/c the second time when I tried looking for the backup file the HDD was conencted to my iMac and I was accessing it via a network conenction.
I simply connected the drive directly to my MacBook pro and ... voila. I was able to see the backup, select the iPhoto library and begin the restore.
    Hope this helps.
BTW - I found this out by reading the 'blue box' selection on this page: http://pondini.org/TM/E2.html
    (Thanks goes to Pondini!)

  • Setting Website Parental Controls Affect other things?

Can setting website parental controls (in Leopard) affect other programs (non-web)?
I wonder if it is interfering with Remote Desktop Connection to a Windows computer.
Anyone have any insights into this? Thanks.

Posted, but then the support forums went on the blink. Bumping in hopes someone has an idea what's going on.

  • HT201304 How do I disable parental controls?

I forgot the parental controls pass code, and I need to unlock it. I do not have a computer with me (I use a computer at work only). Is there a way to disable it without a computer? I'm asking this question on his ipad. Thank you for your help!

Follow the instructions in  iOS: How to back up your data and set up your device as a new device http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137 to restore the device to factory settings.
Once you have setup the device as a new one, you can then sync it back with your iTunes account and all your music, apps, contacts and any other content sync'ed with iTunes will be loaded on the device. Any content that is stored only on the device and not sync'ed with iTunes, like app logins or data, will be lost during this process. Be forewarned that this is a long process and can take a couple of hours or more to complete. This can be painful, but it is necessarily so to prevent users from working around the security settings. After the restore is complete, you can setup a new Restrictions passcode. Make a note of the passcode to avoid this situation in future.
     Cheers, Tom

  • How can I remove parental controls? PLEASE HELP!

I just got my Mac-Mini, and sometimes when I want to do something on it, A screen with 'parental controls' pops up, and I have to enter a password, which I don't know. I've asked my parents if they did this, but they didn't! And after an hour, my Mac says: Your time is over, to add an extra hour, enter your password. How can I remove it? It's very annoying because I can't even go to Facebook, or Youtube.

The parents, if the mini were ever used officially by them and had any software
installed, bought music, updated the system, etc, would've used their Apple ID.
So, if through legitimate sources and correctly set-up, or if bought used and set
up with the new owner's information, installed new OS X, and etc, it would have
an Admin account or be accessible by the owner's Apple ID.
Before using suggested links to change an unknown Admin access password,
be sure to check, because if this unit has seen any software update, iTunes,
App Store or Mac App Store access, someone has an account and it may be
that would alter how the computer was used by them, if you change it now.
Also, to update or upgrade System software, and most online store access, does
require a valid payment card to be entered. If the parents are a party to this use,
then seems to reason, they should be in on what to change the new password to.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Restricting apps when setting up parental controls

in parental controls, under the apps tab, when selecting the "dont allow" option next to 'Allow app store apps', the appstore and itunes still appear in my childs user acc.  How can i set the controls to exclude the appstore or set it for administrator permission etc., while stoll allowing the standard applications the came with the computer. an explanation would be greatly appreciated. thank you.

Hi nite41, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, when that completes...
    Trash this file...
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/preferences.plist
    Reboot.
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.
    Any diff?
