How to set-up printers in Snow Leopard???

I installed Snow Leopard (10.6) on one of my full backup external La Cie Hard Drives. It took about an hour to install-- and everything seems fine-- I enjoy the slider in windows to get icons to 512 size.
OK BUT how to set-up my ethernet connected Apple LaserWriter 12/640PS (about 1997 vintage) and my Canon Pixma i4000R printers? They work GREAT in Leopard 10.5.8 - but I can't even find them in the Print/Fax System Preference when I start in Snow Leopard. And I don't know where to go nor what to do to find the drivers etc. etc. etc. I choose to install ALL printer drivers when I did the set-up of SL.
It was kinda automatic with 10.5 - but with 10.6 - just nothing. It finds my Canon SCANNER- but no printers...
Thanks for any comments here -- glad I've kept leopard on my internal MacBook HD!

That's an AppleTalk device. You would need to set it to use TCP/IP via DHCP. See <http://support.apple.com/kb/TA21790?viewlocale=en_US> and similar. Good luck.

Canon released a driver for that device in June this year. I'd see if that fixes your problem, or if it doesn't, I'd contact Canon tech support.

  • How to upgrade to 10.6 Snow Leopard?

I'm currently running OS X 10.5.8 on my MacBook.  How do I get 10.6 Snow Leopard?  I want to get to Lion but I believe that I have to get Snow Leopard first.

If you call the online Apple Store, they may still have copies of Snow Leopard available though it's no longer listed on the web site. If they no longer have it available, as has been reported in a couple of recent threads, you'll need to look to private sellers, and the prices are rising quickly. If you buy from a private seller, make sure you get the retail disk set (white label with a picture of a Snow Leopard), not the system disks from another model of Mac (grey label).
The same applies to Lion; it Lion may still be available if you call the online Apple Store, though a couple of recent threads have reported it as no longer available. If the Apple Store still has it, they will ask for your Apple ID and credit card number and will then send you a code which you can redeem in the Mac App Store. You will need to have 10.6.6 or later installed on your system before you will be able to redeem the code.
Alternatively, you may still be able to find the Lion USB installer at a local Apple Store or an Apple dealer, though available stocks will probably disappear quickly if they have not already. Otherwise you'll have to look for the USB installer on the open market, such as through eBay or a Mac User Group. Those are starting to rise in price.
    Regards.

  • I upgraded to snow leopard but iphoto was not included. How do I install iphoto on snow leopard 10.6.8?

i upgraded to snow leopard but iphoto was not included. How do I install iphoto on snow leopard 10.6.8?

IPhoto is not included in any OS upgrade. It is a seperate application. Unless you choose to erase your drive when you upgrade no application including iPhoto is affected by the upgrade (except potential compatibility issues). If you need to reinstall iPhoto for and reason you do it from the original source. Either
1- the restore disks that came with your computer
    Or
2- the iLife DVD upgrade that you purchased
    Or
    3- the App store

  • How to record the screen in snow leopard ?

how to record the screen in snow leopard ?

Must I find it myself !
Well you could try Google :-)
I am unsure if you want a static image, or a movie recording of what you are doing on your screen.
Images can be done using Command-Shift-3, Command-Shift-4, and Command-Shift-4-Space.
3rd party utilities such as Skitch will allow you to annotate the image after you capture it.
Making a movie of your screen activities can be done usng Applications -> Quicktime
There are 3rd party screen records such as Snapz Pro, ScreenSteps, etc...
And of course you can do a Google search.

  • How do I get my new Snow Leopard 10.6.3 upgrade to be 10.6.8?

Earlier today I backed up my leopard (on my new external hard drive, $89.99) and installed my new Snow Leopard upgrade (purchased from Apple for $19.99). They sent me 10.6.3, however, it looks like I need 10.6.8 to get the new itunes which was my reason for upgrading in the first place. My son got the ipod touch 5th generation ($225) which requires the new itunes. How do I get my new Snow Leopard 10.6.3 upgrade to be 10.6.8? The price tag is adding up quickly!

  • How can I go back to snow leopard my epson stylus Photo TX810FW does not work with Lion

My Epson Stylus Photo TX810FW printer does not work with Lion how do I go back to Snow Leopard?

Did you try removing the printer from the queue and then reinstalling it?
I attempted to print this morning for the first time after upgrading to Lion and discovered that while everything appeared normal on my Epson printer, it would never print.
I opened System Preference > Print & Scan and deleted the printer.
I then added the printer back and it now working again. Worth a shoot first I should think.
    Much easier the a downgrade.

  • I have os 10.4. Why do I need the mac box set to upgrade to snow leopard?

I have os 10.4. Why do I need the mac box set to upgrade to snow leopard? What happens if I upgrade with just a 10.6 upgrade?

    ds store wrote:
No iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, Garageband, but I can pinch those off the 10.4 installer disk using Pacifist.
You can usually get those from the original grey installer discs that came with your Mac without bothering with Pacifist. Look for an 'installed bundled software' or similarly named item on one of those discs, generally the #1 disc. Run that & the original versions of those apps that were bundled with your Mac will be installed. Software Update will let you know if there is an update you can download for them (but of course that won't include an upgrade to a more recent major version, which you would have to buy separately).

  • I have Leopard 10.5.8. How can i download and install Snow Leopard or Lion? Thanks.

Currently, I have Leopard 10.5.8. How can i download and install Snow Leopard or Lion? Thanks for your help.

You need to *call* Apple at 1-800-MY-APPLE, as Ralph already said.
But "since one week" sounds like a direct translation of French "il y a".  You should call your local country's Apple suuport and ask.

how far should I upgrade from snow leopard.  I just installed more RAM for a total of 4 GB.
    Thanks

Check that your computer is compatible with Mountain Lion/Mavericks/Yosemite.
To check the model number hold down the option/alt key, go to the Apple menu and select System Information.
iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) model number 7,1 or higher
    Your Mac needs:
OS X v10.6.8 or OS X Lion already installed
2 GB or more of memory (More is better - 4 GB minimum seems to be the consensus)
8 GB or more of available space
Check to make sure your applications are compatible. PowerPC applications are no longer supported after 10.6.
    Application Compatibility
    Applications Compatibility (2)
    Do a backup before installing.
If you can/do upgrade, I recommend you make a copy of the installer and move it out of your Applications folder. The installer self-destructs. The copy will keep you from having to download the installer again.  You can make a bootable USB stick to install using this free program.
Bootable USB Flash Drive – Diskmaker X
If your computer isn’t compatible, you might be able to upgrade to Lion. Personal opinion, I'd stay with Snow Leopard rather than Lion.

  • How do I go back to Snow Leopard from Mavericks (10.6.3 from 10.9.4)

How do I go back to Snow Leopard from Mavericks (10.6.3 from 10.9.4)

    No easy way.
If you have no backup of your previous system and data, you basically have to erase your  Mac's internal hard drive and install OS X Snow Leopard from scratch as a clean install and run all software updates as well as reinstall all of your applications and any updates.
You will now need some way of backing up all of your important data. Backup data to CD/DVD, large capacity USB flash drive OR an external hard drive.
If you have/had an external hard drive with a complete, copy (cloned ) backup of your previous system, then the doing is/was a lot quicker and simpler.
