How to setup a remote recovery process - Not using Data Guard?

Hello -
Has anyone (or can send me some links) set up recovery at a remote site - and not used Data Guard? For example, shipped off logs via FTP, applied the logs, and kep the DB in recovery mode?

This manual procedure is described in the Dataguard Concepts manual for 10gR2, hopefully is this your unmentioned version (BTW what happens if you do type your version? Does your boss beats you up for doing that?). I don't know why someone wants to replace something robust by something unreliable by default, using FTP. Not only unreliable, also unsecure!

You should find it's usage noted in the new PCG user guide on page 3-26 under the heading "Configuring Workflow/Event Rules". This way you can have a Flow Rule call a business event component or a workflow. This would be kicked off within a process flow as one of the steps.

PURPOSE
How to execute a remote procedure in Portal using Database Link.
DESCRIPTION
This procedure assumes that you have two databases, one of which is remote, and Portal is configured in the other.
Remote Database A:
==================
1) Create a procedure as follows: Create or Replace PROCEDURE SCOTT.ADD_TWO_VALUES ( v_one IN NUMBER, v_two IN NUMBER, v_result OUT NUMBER) as begin v_result :=v_one+v_two; end; 2) Grant execute privileges to PUBLIC on the procedure.
Database B (where Portal is configured): ========================================
1) Create a public database link and choose to connect as a specific user (say SYSTEM). By default, in an Oracle 8i database, the "global_names" parameter in initSID.ora (or init.ora) file is set to "true". This Global Naming parameter enforces that a dblink has the same name as the database it connects to. Therefore, if the remote global database (A) name is "ora8.acme.com" then the database link should also be named as "ora8.acme.com".
2) Create a synonym for the procedure in Database A. Make sure you fully qualify the procedure name in the remote database (like SCOTT.ADD_TWO_VALUES).
3) Create a dynamic page to execute the procedure. The ORACLE tags in the dynamic page will look similar to the following: <ORACLE> DECLARE v_total NUMBER; BEGIN ADD_TWO_VALUES(:v_one,:v_two, v_total); htp.p('The total is => '); htp.p('<input type="TEXT" VALUE='||v_total||'>'); htp.para; htp.anchor('http://<machine.domain:port#>/pls/portal30/SCOTT.DYN_ADD_TWO_VALUES.show_parms', 'Re-Execute Procedure'); END; </ORACLE>
4) Portal does not have an option to create a form based on a synonym. Therefore, if you want to create a form instead of a dynamic page, create a wrapper procedure and then create a form based on this procedure. For example: Create or Replace PROCEDURE PORTAL30.ADD_TWO_VALUES_PR ( v_one IN NUMBER, v_two IN NUMBER, v_total OUT NUMBER) as begin add_two_values(v_one, v_two, v_total); end;
5) Grant execute privileges to PUBLIC on the procedure.

How do I get rid of the Not Using SoftArtisan File UP notice that is slowing down my uploads to class where I teach? A notice now appears every time I upload an image to class as an attachment that says, Not Using SoftArtisan File UP, and this appears to be slowing down my uploads tremendously. I want to get rid of this. I never used it before and don't need it and don't want it. I just want the uploads to work like they did before this idiotic notice started slowing things down.

i have installed the oracle weblogic server 10gr3 and oracle BPM enterprise for weblogic 10gR3
i have used the Admin tools from the "oracle BPM enterprise for weblogic" to setup the configuration and create the weblogic domain servers.
i can launch the process administrator and import the project exp file to domain server.
but what should i do to setup cluster environment using weblogic?
what i want to do is :
setup one admin machine..
setup two product machine..
enable the cluster so the admin machine can monitor the status of the product machine..

The install guide at http://download-llnw.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13154_01/bpm/docs65/config_guide/index.html gives a reasonable amount of info on how to do this.
Personally I have not used the OBPM option to configure WebLogic instead I've used the information in the above install guide to create the weblogic domain in advance of configuring OBPM.
Once you've setup WebLogic configure OBPM using the values I mention in the following thread: How to set the JMX Engine parameter in Process Administation?
Let me know any specific config questions and I'll do my best to answer them for you.

Yes, that article should apply to tablets.
But if your USB recovery drive does not get recognized then it must be corrupted - you should be able to format your disk and perhaps try to see if creating a Recovery device on other devices will make it recognizable on your tablet 2.

How can I check whether a Process or an Application is running or not using CVI?
I used to try this in Labview, and for check App, this is a VI in NI's website. But I have no idear about using CVI to do this.
And also, how can I check whether a folder is open or using? Because I want to rename foder in my code, if it's open(maybe some file in the folder are open), the rename action will go wrong.

Then you can't remove it, but you can stop using it. Sign out (in System Preferences>iCloud) but before you do make a backup of your contacts and calendars .......
I am serious about the backup, ignore at your own risk.

Its Very Easy just Follow the Steps:
Create One DB field in Repetative area0 - Table -octt(contract Temp) Column- Duration(Duration of Coverage)
Check the Item code Field or Item description field for EX( F_123), then in Duration DB field - Go to Properties -Field in that - General - Lint to - connect the ( F_123), code Field or Item description field for EX( F_123),
So it will show automatically Duration of the Item which was connected in master data.
It works perfectly in 2007B PL 10.

The only remaining challenges are:
1) how do I interpret or convert the values in the LASTUSED field? The numbers are of the magnitude of 20,060,601,210,130.
2) Once I determine which queries were not used within the last 13 months, how do I delete them? Is it as simple as writing a SQL statement against this table?

How to install a package that does not use DESTDIR?

I am trying to create a PKGBUILD for a package called cantera. This package uses the standard "configure", "make", and "make install" process; however, "--prefix" is supported but DESTDIR is not used. Unfortunately, this package is very large (many files) and "make install" install with absolute path names. Is there any strategies for handling this situation? An example of another package that handles this would be great.

So I have to create a folder called usr/bin in my pkg-folder, then it will work.
But this is stupid, can't makepkg create those folders by itself?

iChat used to save the chat transcripts by buddy and not by date. Now each day has it's own saved file With numerous buddies. It used to append any new chat to the same buddy file. Is there a way to go back to that?
